Well Australia has left for the World Cup, on a custom painted Qantas 747.
Their final fixture on hole-soil was a most unconvincing 2-1 win over a very game, and arguably better, New Zealand line up. I must say I thought New Zealand played much better football for more of the match and played more in the spirit of the game, those two Australian tackles (one by Tim Cahill, don't remember who the other offender was) were reprehensible and I'm amazed that even in a 'friendly' they got away with just yellow cards...
Then the next day the Australian media displayed just how small minded they can be, mentioning that Lucas Neill might be happy to know that Fabio Grosso (the player he fouled in the dying moments of stoppage time in the Australia vs Italy World Cup match in 06, conceding the penalty that gave Italy the win) won't be at South Africa 10...
Honestly, it was a fair call by the ref (not a obvious dive that the ref missed) and it was 4 years ago. Give it a rest!
...This from a nation that wants to host the World Cup...
Course most Australians conveniently forget that Italy had been down to 10 men since the 51st minute and Australia still hadn't scored.
