• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Relentless.
Everyone's still going on about Arceus and Ditto? What about Magikarp? (•‿•)

They can't be supported in the current games, as there is no means to show them in the forest in your game.

They can add it in "Grey," but you'd be forced with "Grey" only areas. Given what's needed, you'd find that adding walking Pokémon again is easy. (Actually, the pre Unova Pokémon use the same sprites in BW are used as HGSS.) But then I'm getting really close to actual Speculation.

It's kinda both ways, to add the "walk-behind me" thing, they have to re-do every script in the game. As currently the script tells object 250 (player) to move during events, thus theoretical object 255 (Following Pokemon) would not move and would get run over by things moving in the script. And leaving behind the Pokemon has it's own problems, it still follows your movement, while not being behind you due to the nature of the 'follow-me' script.

Since they have like a year to make Grey, re-writing all the scripts shouldn't be too much of a hassle since the script writers don't have to make too many new ones from scratch/

Note: 250 and 255 are the numbers for HGSS, IDK what BW's numbers are for the player.

I have a BOSS Manaphy. It has great Defense, but sucks at everything else. So I tricked it out with Calm Mind (Boosts Sp. Def) Tail Glow (Manaphy's prime reason for existing, boostes Sp. Atk 3 stages) Surf (For Pwnage of everything in its path) and Substitute+ Leftovers (To annoy the **** out of people) I've beaten my cousin 6-0 with it, so It's my new favorite Legendary Pokemon.

I don't know if this set is good. Sure, the premise is the same as most Manaphy, but there are some things you should do with Manaphy that haven't been done here. This set is better:

Surf, Ice Beam, Rest, Calm Mind

This is excellent on a Rain team. Hydration heals Sleep at the end of the turn, so you can Rest as often as you please. Calm Mind over Tail Glow because most Ubers use Special attacks, and the defense boost is a boon. Surf and Ice Beam provide coverage for most Uber opponents.

I have a BOSS Manaphy.
Manaphy was my first event after returning to pokemon, so I feel attached to it more then I'd expect. I think mine's pretty good too; I think everything's in the high 20s, except HP, which is like 4.

Is Manaphy's Heart Swap a commonly used move? It seems like it could be useful to me.

Not really, no. Manaphy has all the boosting moves it wants already (Calm Mind, Acid Armor, Tail Glow), so it can boost itself without relying on/waiting for an opportunity to steal something from a foe setting up. It's too situational and unreliable in singles.

In double/triple battles, though, I guess Manaphy could pull of a pseudo-Baton Pass set with Heart Swap, but I don't look much into those battle styles, so I don't know if that's a common strategy.

On a different note, I was training a Ferrothorn on Route 14, and we got into battle against a wild Wigglytuff! Well, wild Wigglytuff's only attacking move is Double Slap, and of course Ferrothorn's only ability is Iron Barbs - and every individual slap activates Iron Barbs, haha. The poor Wigglytuff dodged three Power Whips from Ferrothorn, and then fainted itself in the middle of a Double Slap attack! :p

Though I must say, I like Wigglytuff's sprite animation in BW. The way its tubby tummy flattens right over its feet when it bounces is a good way of getting across the idea that Wigglytuff is a rubbery balloon-like Pokemon. The fact that after a few bounces it floats right off the ground also helps. Good job on this one, GameFreak. =D

Got to agree with this. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering that Wigglytuff is supposed to be an inflatable balloon like the other two members of its line, on account of its closer resemblance to a real animal and oblong shape. However, make sure you check out Igglybuff's animation sometime. It actually flies up in the air for a while, which really helps it seem more like a balloon. Here it is, if you don't feel like looking for it. As an added note, I absolutely love Igglybuff's red eyes.

Igglybuff is a good baby Pokemon I like what it envelope into better though because wigglytuff is great at being on the defense with moves like cosmic power. It's even better if you EV train it for defenses and hp. In addition to the baby Pokemon I love elekid, it goes from a ply in to a reved up engine.

I love Electivire. I used one on my Heart Gold team and it was just plain amazing. I also used its counterpart, Magmortar, on my Pearl, and he was a boss too. Those two pokemon are just amazing and have been around since the beginning with Electabuzz and Magmar. I personally think those lines are some of the best in the franchise. Not necessarily my favorites, but the best in the franchise.

I think my favorite is Shuppet. The way it sticks its tongue out is funny. Wigglytuff is cool, too, because it's so bouncy.

I'm not big Electivire fan yet. I'm using one in my current Pt playthrough (its just an Elekid right now though). I've heard a lot of people around here talk about how great it is, so I'm expecting good things.

yeah, he is pretty good. Has a good ability and good stats. Good moves for coverage and everything else. It would be cool if there was a hail equivalent to Swift Swim and Sand Rush. It would make hail a lot more used competitively and you would be able to use more ice types than people use now.

I'm glad to see nothing but positive feedback regarding Electivire and Magmortar; I was just thinking about raising them the other day. I've always like their Pre-Evo stages, but never cared for their Stage 1 forms.

I wasn't exactly sure where to post this but I noticed Floatzel has never been a pokemon of the week and it's one of my faves from gen 4. Just looking for some opinions on movesets etc.
