Apparently Drogba busied himself with theatrics more than scoring against Southend, seeing as how he managed to miss several simple chances. Now I seriously wonder why did Chelski want to keep him - he's useless when he hasn't got the motivation. He's not like some players where he can play at 30-50% and still manage to impact the game.
In that sense, Drogba is the same as Berbatov. At Tottenham, Berbatov was the star player, and he got the freedom he needed. He was almost guaranteed a starting place in most games. Then, he had a sulk when Spurs started losing, went to Man Utd. and suddenly found he had to compete for his place in the team with players that were as good as, if not better than, himself. This won't give him the confidence he needs and therefore he underperforms.
The same has mostly gone for Drogba. Since he was signed 4 seasons back, he's been their star striker, much like Berba was at Tottenham. And, much like Berba at Tottenham, he was almost guaranteed a starting place. However, now that Anelka has started to play well and, more importantly, is scoring more goals than Drogba, he finds he is fighting for his place, once again like Drogba, due to Big Phil's resilience to play the two together (although this has softened recently.) As he is not playing as regularly before, his confidence has dropped and therefore his performances have dropped due to his lack of motivation.
...Spurs are ultimate failures. They suck. Right to the point that they had to go for Defoe, someone they sold and never really gave first-team chances to, despite his quality and his pace. >_> I hope Defoe doesn't go back. They're not worth it.
Says a Gunner. May I note that the last time Spurs won a major trophy was last season and the last time you did was 4 years ago. Does that make you failures?
