The Packs of Old Kanto
The battle for survival begins

LSU's no longer accepted.

The large dog pokemon was crouched low to the ground, his tail flickered a little as his half brother crouched beside him and also the female omega behind them. The small band waited carefully as they watched the injured tauros graze a little from the valley grass. The grass was tall enough to just hide the large body of Kerberos and his two partners in there attack.

“Drive it south, don’t let it go any other way, Aglaia and Daedalus will attack the flanks, once we catch up I will go for the throat and the rest of you help drag it down.” The alpha spoke as he crouched even lower.

“I know how this drill works, brother.” Deimos whispered. The houndoom/mightyena cross spoke but not in a mocking tones more of a reminder.

“… I thought Ammon was helping” the small omega whispered, Aurora knowing she dare not raise her voice any higher in fear of chasing off there prey.

Kerberos tolerated this interruption knowing she was still learning the rules, as she was rather new to the pack. “… He isn’t much aid but yes, he is helping.” He spoke quickly watching as the bull pokemon had lifted its head and was looking around.

Aurora, the small houndoom/Vulpix mix fell silent now, knowing she should not speak anymore then she has too. She watched for the movement, the sign in which they would spring forward and attack the tauros.

Suddenly, as if Kerberos timed it to when Aurora had dazed a little he bolted followed closely by Deimos. The two ran for the startled tauros who at once turned and ran south as quickly as it could. Aurora was only a split second behind the other two, but it was enough for her to know that she might get a scolding later.

The three pack members chased the bull, herding it deeper into a small wooded area in which it had a harder time moving. They chased it into a stream, the pokemon bellowing as it ran and was startled by a large fierier dog. The arcanine was large, a little smaller then the alpha himself. He held a youthful look still almost puppy like but the barred teeth showed he knew what to do with them.

The beta lunged now for the bull ignoring the sharp cry from the alpha female, Aglaia as the bull was not Daedalus to kill, that was left up to the alpha male or female. But he ignored this as he went straight for the tauros’ neck and caused it to lower its head and easily butt the inexperienced arcanine away. The bull pokemon quickly turned and began to dart away; Aglaia lunged toward landing in front of it and barked at it loudly trying to startle the bull. But the grazing pokemon seemed in raged at this smaller sized dog pokemon threatening him. The bull shook his head and prepared to charge when fiercer barking joined in with Aglaia. The startled Alpha female looked to her side and was amazed to see the weak omega male, Ammon, barking as fierce as she had been.

The startled Tauros backed off now, not sure if it could handle two canine pokemon when out of the woods came the large brown form of Kergeros, he lunged quickly and snapped his jaws around the bull’s neck and was closely followed by Deimos who sunk his teeth into the bull’s hide.

Racing out of the woods next was Aurora but she did not go to the soon to be kill, she ran to the fallen arcanine’s side, worried for the beta as he looked stunned.

“Daedalus is hurt!” she declared as the bull pokemon fell to its side in the stream. Kergeros lifted his head up at that and snarled.

“Serves him right for trying to take MY kill.” Before turning his head over towards Aglaia, “Mate, brother.” He called getting a small tail wag from the week Ammon. “You both eat first, Aglaia first and then Ammon as he earned his meal today. Protected Aglaia from being attacked.” He said as he jumped over the carcass and was followed by Deimos as he knew not to eat when the orders were to let others eat first. He followed his alpha brother over to Daedalus who was slowly sitting up.

As the two begin to speak harshly with the foolish Daedalus the two at the meal sat beside each other discussing something.

“…Alpha” Ammon whispered his head low in respect.

“Yes, Ammon?” smiled Aglaia, finding it cute how he always called her Alpha like a cub would.

“I would just like to take some meat back to my mother.” He whispered his head still low. Aglaia folded her ears back a little in wonder.

“Are you not hungry, Ammon? You don’t often get first pickings of a fresh kill. You earned it, omega” she told him gently, knowing how sensitive he could be as he was very frail. But the weak omega shook his head and stepped forward a little towards the kill. Aglaia said nothing as she watched him work his way inside the kill and was amazed that the blood lust did not take him. After a few moments he held a nice chunk of meat in his mouth and sat it down in front of him.

“This will suit me and my mother fine, we do not eat much” he took it once again in his mouth and with a nod of approval from the alpha female he left her side to go back to the den. She watched as Deimos came up next beside her, still Kerberos was scolding the young Beta and the omega female remained at his side.

“… I will take some back to the cubs, if you will, Aglaia” he nodded his head. She smiled

“That would save me a trip, Deimos, thank you.” At her words, the houndoom/mightyena took a slab of meat from the corps as well, knowing the right amount for the pups back home and he too left.

Aglaia sighed a little looking at the kill before looking over towards her mate, “Kerberos, come eat! The beta and omega can wait tell we have finished. It can be Daedalus’s punishment” she called now and seeming to heed her words the alpha male came over and joined his mate for dinner.

As the two begin to eat the small omega and beta spoke gently, mostly Daedalus spoke and complained about how was treated and how he would let Aurora eat beside him if she wished. She declined the offer, knowing that she was an omega and would never want to seem to be trying to move up to beta. She did not want to risk it.

Thus was the life of a larger pack, run by traditions and rituals to keep there pack pure and healthy. Just like any pack would want.

~*~

Introduce you pack, have them be doing something of use. My pack is larger for a reason so that I can use different characters as plot devices.

Oh and watch out for my all male pack, they are on the prowl.

"Sister, Alpha." a softly spoken voice whispers out, and Riisha flicks an ear towards her slightly battered half sister. The weak Omega started speaking once she knew she wasn't out of line now, "the prey here is scarce," Brii whispered out.

Riisha flattened her golden yellow ears against her skull, a mane of amythist nearly preventing that action as the Arcanine hybrid stared out into the land that they called their territory. Not much of large prey remained, having moved off from the threat of the small pack that lived here. And the only things that had stayed where the Rapidash and Ponyta herds. But they were too swift for Tura and Tia, meaning it was usually Riisha and the full blooded arcanine omega. Riisha narrowed her eyes, thinking she had spotted movement .... but it was just a Spearow amongst the grass.

Then both of their attention was pulled away from searching for something from their hiding place as Tia came walking up, panting quiet heavily as her tounge lolled a bit, Riisha snarled lightly at this, as it meant if anything had been in the tall grass, it would have bolted. But then again there was nothing, and Tia had probably known that long before now. Just Riisha was stubborn and had been hoping it would be just a couple of spearow in there. "What is it Tia," she growled out.

Tia lowered her gaze in a sign of submission and respect. "Tura and I have checked that place where we made our last kill .. but there was nothing there outside of a few old bones."

Riisha growled again in distaste, this was not good. Their territory had never been the best, and now it seemed to be getting worse. She knew what that meant. They could either try to go into a better territory, and oust the pack there and take their land, or stay here. And each presented risks that the pack would be hard pressed to overcome.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Riisha looked at Tia, "Where is Tura." She demanded flatly, and the beta looked confused at that, looking behind herself, "... sister said she would be right behind me.." Tia mumbled, sounding as confused as she looked.

Snarling again Riisha pushed herself up onto her feet, ignoring the gnawing hunger at her gut. This meant that Tura had most likely gone off on her own to hunt. And that meant she was going for feeding herself and not the pack. If it wasn't for the fact there was only four of them, Riisha would have kicked Tura out of their pack long ago. And if Brii wasn't so weak, she might have an actually usefull beta rather than a beta barely a step above omega, and an omega several steps beneath a beta.

Letting out a savage bark, Tia and Brii snapped to attention, or atleast Brii did after she picked herself up from just about throwing herself onto the ground and then her back, and it took her a few moments to realise her sister and half sister were already far ahead and had taken no notice to the sign of submission. Riisha hadn't noticed as her mind was focused on the fact that Tura was probably trying to bring down something on her own. Tia didn't notice as the slow witted arcanine was focused on following her alpha.

A calm wind brushed upon the grassy meadow as a herd of Stantler grazed. The little fawns kept close to their mothers as the bucks kept close to the herd for protection, though their attention strayed away from the focus of finding more grass to eat.

A young buck sniffed the ground as he followed the trail of dirt towards some grass, unknowingly straying away from the herd. The Stantler was young and inexperienced, but he had some meat on his bones.

That’s what caught the attention of two bright red eyes piercing out from the forest brush. Kota leaned his head over and whispered to the beta Aster, “That’s our next meal. You know what to do.” Aster nodded and prepared to run as Kota reared back to pounce.

The herd of Stantler froze as they heard the rustling in the brush. They lifted their heads towards a big, strong Houndoom pouncing out of the forest and roaring at the herd. As the Stantlers scattered and ran from the chasing Kota, Aster charged out of the woods and chased after the lone Stantler. Focused on running away, the Stantler raced away from the herd and towards the direction Aster wanted the prey to go.

Hooves and paws patted against the ground. Dust gathered over Aster as he gained up on the lone buck. The Mightyena squinted his deep blue eyes, but kept closing in on the buck as he started to snap at its hind legs. Kota started to come up from behind after chasing away the herd, but he had some ground to catch up between he and the hunt.

The chase ensued for a moment, Aster keeping the buck at bay by snapping at his hind legs. Kota caught up and snapped at the buck before grunting to himself, “Where is he?”

At that moment, the foliage rustled off of the trees as Nyx leaped out of the bushes the young Stantler ran by. Nyx rammed his head into the buck’s side, the Absol scythe on the right side of his head slashed into the Stantler’s chest. The slain buck grunted for air as he stumbled for balance and tumbled into the ground.

“Yes! Got him!” Aster howled as he bit into the neck of the dying buck. The Mightyena lifted his head and snapped at Nyx, “What took you so damn long?”

“I was waiting for my right moment,” Nyx snapped back. “Everyone knows the hiding hunter needs the element of surprise to make the hunt work.”

“If you were as strong as me, you wouldn’t need to hide like a wuss,” Aster snapped.

“Well, unlike some people who have to rely on brute strength to compensate for not having a brain of their own…” Nyx growled.

“You son of a-!” Aster barked as he lunged at Nyx.

Nyx jumped out of the way and prepared to fight back, but the two gruff betas stopped as they heard the alpha Kota shout, “Enough!” Kota walked around the dead Stantler, observing the kill, before telling Nyx and Aster, “I will not have a division between betas weaken my pack. Now, both of you, eat fast. My mate grows hungry and I will not have her wait any longer,” Kota said as he took his first bite into the Stantler’s stomach.

Nyx and Aster backed away and waited for their turn to eat. “We’d eat faster if Kota wouldn’t eat so slow,” Aster grumbled to himself.

“Don’t talk down to the alpha,” Nyx whispered the warning.

Opal woke from the warmth of the bright sun raining down between the branches of the trees. She sat up and stretched under the shade, she must have dozed off while she waited for Kota and the others to return. At least that’s what she thought until she heard some familiar laughter coming from over the nearby hill.

The Mightyena rose up on her firm legs. Her legs were growing stronger from carrying the pregnant belly of pups around, which should be due any day. Opal walked onto the hill and looked down at a playful little Arcanine playfully pouncing after a flapping Pidgey. The Arcanine was bigger than an Eevee, but his innocent Eevee side was energetic as ever.

Opal smiled a little as she gently shook her head at the young Arcanine. “Eubie,” she called out to him.

Eubie stopped in his prancing and looked up, letting the pidgey have his chance to fly away. “Oh, heloo there, Opal!” he chimed as he ran up the hill. “What a deee-lightful day it’s turning out to be!”

“Eubie,” Opal told him gently, “you’re supposed to be with the others. You need to keep up your duties in the pack if you want to get on Kota’s good side.”

“Oh, I tried to, Opal,” Eubie replied with his usual cheery smile, “but with all the little Butterfrees and Beautiflies to catch, I could barely pay attention to taking down some prey.”

“Eubie, you must pay attention to those instincts of yours,” Opal preached. “You heard Kota. This could be your last pack, and you definitely aren’t prepared for life as a lone wolf.”

Eubie frowned a little. “Well, no. I don’t really want to be alone,” he replied. As sudden as he turned melancholy, Eubie turned chipper once more. “But, then again, I don’t want you to be alone either. I mean, you waiting alone with all your cubs just waiting to burst out and meet the fresh new world! Oh, I bet you just can’t wait!”

Opal couldn’t help but chuckle sweetly at Eubie’s positive attitude. “Well, when Kota gets back, I’ll tell him you stayed behind to hunt down that Pidgey. Perhaps, by hearing that you’re hunting for the pack, he’ll go lenient on you.”

“Ooh, that would be so, so, so splendid and wonderful and all around fabulous of you, Opal!” Eubie cheered.

Opal replied with a smile. “Just sit with me and wait for the others to come back from their hunt.”

An old gray houndoom rested her head on the soft dirt below her, her blind eyes were closed as she rested in a gentle slumber. She was in a sort of burrow, a passage of rock had eroded on a mountian side and with some digging by the other pack members had made a deceant home for the old she-wolf and the cubs that had been born five months ago.

The odd mixed cubs, albino boy with an alpha personality and a speckled girl who was shy and would easily be labeled Omega were resting beside there grandmother, both sleeping after a long day of play.

Though houndoom seem to not have ears, they do have great hearing and the old female did at that have excelent hearing. She sniffed a little raising her head and opened her blind eyes.

"Ammon?" she called, knowing his scent easily. She could hear him enter and come forward slowly. He did not draw to close knowing the omega were not allowed near the cubs with out permission. He sat the slab of meat down and spoke in a low whisper.

"there is meat here, mother. I have eaten all I need." the omega told his body low to the ground showing he meant no harm. Not that Eir thought he did, she loved her boy.

"Thank you Ammon, you are a good boy. Would you watch the cave entrence for me and let me know when the others are coming?" Eir asked kindly as she turned her head and licked the top of Lunar's head. The cub whined a little but did not wake.

The old she-wolf then smelled another scent and she could sense Ammon cower lower to the ground in submission. Deimos was in the cave and passed the omega easily bringing the meat he carried for the cubs.

"Deimos" Eir spoke in acknowladgement of her other son. The houndoom/mightyena lay the meat down beside the cubs.

"Eir" he was not one to call her mother now that he was not a cub. Now it was the cubs turn to stirr as they realized food was near by and there bright blue eyes opened.

"Yay! Food!" Aton cheered as he sprang to his feet and his tail wagged happily as he grabbed the meat in his mouth and began to drag it away from Lunar who just sat there watching him.

Deimos growled a little as he bent down and snatched the meat into his mouth. Aton growled in his blood lust, not wanting to share and began to tug angerly at the meat wanting it for himself. The tugs worked its way at the meat and it slowly began to tear and break until a small chunk of it was in Deimo's mouth. The beta sat this meat down infront of Lunar, who thanked her uncle politly and was low to the ground showing she did not challange him in anyway before she began to eat as well.

"Eir, you should eat while the cubs are busy" was all Deimos said as he left the cave followed by Ammon.

Two wild dogs walked through the small wooded area, one was a large pure blood arcanine the other a small mixed vulpix/Mightyena.

"I get so tired of being bossed around" Whined the immature Daedalus, catching the attention of his omega friend. Aurora looked up at the large arcanine and with her ears pinned back replied with

"he is the alpha, you must listen to him." she spoke gently and small.

"He isn't a very good Alpha, if I was just a tad bigger I'd go off on my own. I can take care of myself." Daedalus boasted as he puffed up his fur. Aurora just shook her head.

"He needs us just as much as we need him, we all have our roles in the pack and we must learn to accept them." She said wisely remembering what her father, the mightyena, had told her when her mother had left her and her siblings. As vulpix's were not pack animals.

"I would be the best Alpha, I would make everything fair." he snaps at her "Some of the rules Kerberos has are just stupid."

Aurora sighed "I don't mind them, as long as I get protection and food."

"... You deserve better Aurora, maybe we should start our own pack! just you and me, we could really be so much better!" he declared louder then what the small omega wanted.

"Our... own?" she shook her head "No, I don't think so... well... no." though she was very tempted at the idea of being more then an omega, her shy nature won out and she quickly darted off out of nervousness.

"... was it something I said?" Daedalus called in his confusion.

The warm sun began to sprinkle into Opal’s eyes as she lifted her head. Ever since she grew closer and closer to birth she has grown accustomed to lying down, which is making her become somewhat lethargic. A terrible mistake to make in the wild, but she just can’t help it. And she feels safe already with Kota and the others.

Opals smiled as she heard a familiar Houndoom howl arise around the bend. With a yawn and a stretch, Opal slowly rose onto her four legs and walked forward. Kota appeared around a bushel of saplings, dragging a fresh Stantler leg in his mouth. Opal smiled sweetly to her mate. “You kept me a hind quarter?”

Kota placed the leg down in front of her mate. “You need all the meat you desire,” Kota replied with a smile to match his happy mate. “You have a lot of mouths to feed in there. How many pups must you have? Six? Seven?”

“Maybe,” Opal replied before swallowing a good bite of the calf. “One of them keeps kicking me in the ribs,” she commented as she scratched her side with her hind leg.

“Don’t hurt them now,” Kota joked. The two mates shared a laugh as Kota nuzzled his snout into Opal’s neck.

Opal flashed her sky blue eyes across the area as she realized, “Where are the others?”

“Oh, I last left Aster and Nyx as they were tearing off some meat for that blasted omega,” Kota replied, with a grumble over Eubie.

“You mean Eubie,” Opal replied softly, but with a stern look in her eyes.

Kota growled as he walked away a few feet. “I can’t believe you talked me into allowing that damned mutt to join our pack. He’s a weak nuisance, and it would be a compliment just to call him irritating.”

“He’s an excitable youngster, I can see that,” Opal replied as she walked over to the grumpy Kota, “but its because he still has the young heart of a pup. And I can see his instincts shining through. All he needs is a pack to help him as he begins to grow into the Arcanine I know he can be.”

“Opal,” Kota replied, “he’s just a mutt.”

“So are Aster and Nyx,” Opal replied. “And, if I’m not mistaken, you may have mutts of your own any day now.”

Kota gruffed and growled as he tried to think of a reply, but Opal once again caught him in a corner. “You always have the right words to defend that wretched weakling,” he groaned. As soon as he pouted, Kota leaned over and nuzzled his nose next to Opal’s. “How could I live without you,” he said sweetly to his Mightyena.

Opal replied, “We couldn’t,” as she nuzzled him back.

The annoyed Venonat bounded out of the forest foliage, followed by a playfully pouncing Eubie chasing after him in his own little game. “Hee hee hee! Gonna get ya, I’m gonna get ya!” he cheered to himself as he pounced after the little purple bug.

Eubie jumped in midair and yelped as he nearly felt the snap of Aster’s jaws biting next to the Arcanine’s hind leg. Eubie ran a few feet before bumping into a smiling, cocky Nyx walking his way out of the forest shadows. “Well, well, looks like we got him,” Nyx replied, joking at Eubie’s little antics.

“Oh, uh, Nyx. And Aster.” Eubie nervously backed away, unknowingly backing himself between Aster and Nyx, but he couldn’t stop his positive, cheerful attitude from getting the best of him. “Uh, heh heh. You really got me that time,” he nervously laughed.

“You just watch yourself,” Aster replied as he circled Eubie, “cause next time I could get your neck.”

Eubie gulped at the thought before he asked with a nervous smile, “So, uh, you guys came to play?”

“Maybe,” Aster replied, amused at the thought of tormenting Eubie a little more.

“We came because Kota told us to give you this.” Nyx kicked a large wad of Stantler meat towards Eubie. The meat rolled along the ground, catching dirt in the meat soaked in the Houndoom/Absol mix’s saliva. “It’s the least we could give you,” Nyx added sarcastically.

“Oh, thanks fellas!” Eubie replied cheerfully. “You know, you guys may be able to scare me silly, but, all in all, you’re the most teee-rifical friends a dog could ever hope for!”

Nyx watched unamused and annoyed at Eubie, but his eyes showed a slight sympathy for the mutt. “Yeah, sure.”

“Don’t forget mine,” Aster replied as he kicked his wad of meat between Eubie’s eyes.

Eubie nearly tumbled as he was caught off guard. “Oh, thank you too, Aster. That’s very, splendidly nice of you.”

Aster grinned deviously as he saw Eubie looked down to try and nip at the dirty wads of flesh. “What did I say about watching your back?” Aster snapped as he lunged after Eubie.

The frightened Eubie stumbled as he stepped back onto the edge of a hillside. The Arcanine looked behind him, but lost his balance and rolled down the hill. The poor little Eubie tumbled through twigs and stones before a fallen log stopped him at the bottom of the hillside.

Eubie shook his head after crashing head first into the log. As he stood up on his four legs, he felt some dirt splash into his eyes as a wad of meat came tumbling down the hill after him. “By the way,” Aster hollered, “I may have ****** on that one!”

“See you back at the pack, Eubie,” Nyx called out as he and the laughing Aster ran off.

Eubie little orange eevee ears slipped into his raggedy mane as his smile faded into a frown. He lowered his head and prepared to bite at the fleshy Stantler meat, but stopped and gave a disgusting look as the smell of Aster’s urine rushed into his nostrils. The sad and disgusted Eubie turned away and walked over to a small stream by the pond. There he sat and stared into his sad reflection.

Eubie gave a heavy, hungry sigh as he noticed something swimming underneath his reflection. He squinted to get a good look at a tiny Goldeen feeding off of a mossy rock. Eubie paused for a moment to think about what his instincts were telling him. As soon as he listened, his big grin returned to his face.

“Come here, little fishy!” Eubie chimed as he slammed his claws into the stream. He lifted his drenched paws to find no Goldeen, but in his wondering his eye caught the fish swimming away upstream. “Oh, ho, ho, you can’t escape that easily,” Eubie called out as he jumped into the stream and splashed along as he chased after the little fish. “I’m gonna get ya, I’m gonna get ya!”

Riisha had long out-distanced her sisters now, while Brii might be faster, Riisha was the best endurance runner over longer distances than her sisters. It wasn't usefull in hunting most game, as running used alot of energy, and just made Riisha even more hungry and most likely to mess up due to wanting the food now, instead of later.

But there wasn't food at the end of this goal she was running towards, Riisha didn't know what Tura was up too exactly, this time, but she didn't care what it was. She had told Tura and Tia to stay together, and try to find prey. Tia had followed her orders, Tura had not. How many times would she have to disipline the beta?

Leaping over a 'small' stream that meandered through this part of their territory, Riisha only stumbled a little upon landing before she was a golden blur once more.

Tia and Brii both came to a sliding halt on the banks of the river. While they could drink from it, they weren't really able to stand water much more beyond that. Brii whined loudly, not liking being seperated from any of her pack-mates/sisters like this as Tia does the same. Tia was confused, this was not the way she had come from ... but she could smell Tura's scent. Why had her sister come this way? Tia barely noticed as Brii whined at her softly, and she glanced at her lower ranked sister and watched as she pointed with a paw as she sat, towards a fallen log that lay on both sides of the river bank, allowing for a bridge of sorts across.

And as they cautiously started to attempt to cross the log without falling, Riisha continued on, mouth open and panting heavily as her muscles rippled beneath golden furred skin as she moved ever forwards, ears flat, eyes narrowed, and not just due to the wind. Nose twitching constantly, Riisha knew where to go by the trail of Tura's scent alone. And there was now a hiccup in it too, she had started to scent something else, and it took her awhile to figure out what it was. A Ninetales. They'd had a run in with one before, managed to scare it away from something it had killed. But they had needed the food to survive.

Riisha didn't understand, was it the same one as before? Had it attacked Tura? What? She didn't smell blood ... but all the same, Riisha forced her body to go faster. And it wasn't long after that to when she found Tura. And if she had been any slower she wouldn't have been able to stop what was happening. Atfirst, she thought the Ninetales was attacking her sister. And used the stunned pause to her advantage; lunging forward and landing a killing blow to the neck of the cream colored fox with her massive jaws. A strangled yelp escaped it partly, and then it was still. Dropping the corpse to the ground, she turned towards her sister, eyes narrowed, and was about to demand what happened when Tura attacked.

"You killed him! YOU KILLED HIM! I was about to become the true alpha of this pack and you killed him!" She screamed, thinking she had caught Riisha off guard when a massive paw slammed into her as Riisha reared up and back, lashing out with limb and jaw, sending Tura sprawling backwards and Riisha roared in anger at such a betrayal attempt. "You dare risk putting your pack in danger like this!? You dare risk bringing something weaker, into this pack!?"

Tura hissed and seethed, "Brii is weaker than that crea-" she didn't get to finish as once again, Riisha smacked Tura and sent or sprawling, the only thing saving her from a deadly blow or being rendered by claws was their blood relation. "Brii is our sister, a link to our parents! She may not be beta, will never be alpha, but you will not abandon her for being omega!" Riisha snarled out as she snapped at Tura's neck, forcing the other fire dog to either submit, or be attacked again. And this time, wisely, Tura submitted to her sister by crouching low in the grass.

Riisha snorted and backed off a bit, then turned; grabbing the Ninetales carcass and headed back the way she had come, ignoring Tura's startled exclimation. All Riisha saw in the ninetales was a food source possibility, they needed food. But for this Tura would go hungry, the kill would be split between herself, Tia and Brii. Dragging it by the broken neck, Riisha didn't even deem Tura worthy enough to aknowledge her as she passed her half sister.

-~-~-

Brii and Tia were having a hard time getting over the log as it would shift or roll slightly whenever they tried to walk across it, untill they discovered if wieght was placed on one end, it didn't roll or shift as much.

So now Tia held down one end of the log, as Brii started to creep slowly along the log towards the other side, and if it was possible for an Arcanine to be in tears, Brii would be, because she didn't want to fall and land in the water. Being pure fire type, water was her weakness, her fear, her greatest enemy. And here she was, having to cross it. And the only reason she had enough bravery for that was because ‘Sister Alpha’ could be in danger. And Brii, as weak as she was, was still loyal to family and Alpha as much as Tia was.

In the pack of Kerberos, back in the den, the two cubs played happily togather. Well, Aton played happily while he teased his younger sister. The two rolled around on the dirty ground, the albino's fur becoming dirty while most couldn't tell if Lunar's fur was dirty or clean.

"My silly pups" cooed a voice and the two youngsters stopped playing as they both turned there ears towards the den's mouth. Standing there was the mightyena/umbreon croos Aglaia.

"Mommy!" Lunar called first as she darted over under her mother's legs and nuzzled and jumped against her. The alpha female smiled as she licked her daughter happily before looking over at her son.

"Well Aton? Aren't you going to greet your mother?" she called and the albino cub ran over as well copying his sister with puppy kisses and snuggles. Aglaia walked over, her cubs darting in and out from her legs and after gretting Eir lay down beside the old she-wolf while alowing her puppies to jump and play on there mother.

"What was it that we ate mommy?" Aton asked "Was it a stantler? Or a ponyta?"

"It use to be a Tauros I believe" the mothered chuckled as she licked her son before pulling him closer and began to give him a bath. Lunar snuggled up against her mother.

"I want to go hunting next time!" chimed Aton as he growled a little at the wet tongue licking him.

"When your older, Aton." Aglaia said between licks as she turned the boy over to lick his other side.

"... I'll be older tomorrow. So can I go tomorrow?"

"Ask your father." she told him simply and released him from her grasp now pulling Lunar over to give her, her bath.

Aton fell silent, knowing that when his mother said that, it meant no.

The small vulpix/mightyena omega slowly approached the other omega, Ammon, who was resting underneath a tree. The houndoom raised his head at her approach and gave a wry smile.

"Hello Aurora" he called gently as she came to his side and lay down beside him.

"Good morning to you Ammon" she greeted in return and he sniffed her head in a sign of acceptence of her presents. As they were both omega and did not mind sharing space with one another.

Though Ammon was a frail creature, he was not stupid, actrually he would probably be about as wise as Eir when he grows old and he knew something was off with Aurora.

"What troubles you?" he asked now as he rested his head near hers.

"Just... Daedalus has been talking about leaving again." she sighed now as she tilted her head closer to her friend's, seeking comfort.

Ammon rolled his orangish eyes and licked his fellow omega's cheek a little.
"he always does. Don't believe him, he is just a young pup bluffing. He will tone down with time."

Aurora closed her eyes seeming to be almost afraid now, she didn't want him to leave but was worried about what Kerberos might do if he keeps acting up.

"... He wants me to go with him."

Ammon was startled with that, as that was as blunt as a male could get when wanting a mate. As often a male and female dog would run off for a bit perhaps to mate.

"He is fond of you, Aurora and he is a strong boy. He could support you." Ammon adviced "But... he is still young and very foolish."

"I'm young, am I foolish, Ammon?" Aurora raised her head now giving him a questioning look.

"... you have wisedom beyond your years, Aurora, it has served you well." The weak omega replied simply, "Perhaps you should tell the alpha about Daedalus's rambling."

Aurora quickly shook her head at that and lay it once more down beside her friend. "He wouldn't be pleased, this is my affair... I'll choose when the time is right..."

"... Don't let him pressure you. Your a omega but you do not belong to him." Ammon warned.

"... I know."

"Fang, I don't smell anything worth hunting this way." Seti whispered as he followed after the large scarred houndoom. Fang grunted a little but ignored teh Alpha as the other Beta, Mo, snarled at Seti to be silent.

Mo paused now as he sniffed the air "I lost the trail. You got anything?" He asked.

"... No. Darnit, we almost had something." Fang growled, angry he lost both the trail of the ninetales and the almost in heat arcanine. Seti whined, as he had never been near a female in heat before and was curious to understand why they were so driven to find her. (naive guy aint he)

A whine travels to the three male's ears. Mo turns his head and sniffs "Anyone interested in two arcanine females?"

Fang smiled, "Lets move"

they moved over, off the trail they had been following and towards a stream, peering through the bushes the three males noticed two arcanine females trying to cross a stream. Fang looked at the one known as Tia then eyed the whimpering one known as Brii.

"I'll take the one on the log. You two can have the other." Fang knew the one of hte log was weaker, he enjoyed torturing the weaker.

"Now." Fang bellowed, Mo and Seti jumped out and before the two sister could really respond had attacked Tia full on, knocking her off the log and onto the ground, nearly into the water.

Fang exited the bush now, and put his paws on the log with a devilish smile "want to go for a swim?" he chuckled before with a sharp push caused the log to roll.

Eubie chased the goldeen far down the stream, everytime he seemed to get close the fish would swiftly get out of reach. As he advanced on it once more, the goldeen quickly darted between the arcanine/eevee's legs and shot back down the stream.

The goldeen thinking it was now free from the terror of teeth slowed itself down, but it was not out of the woods yet as a purple creatre leaped off the bank and landed on the surprised fish and clamped a fox like muzzle around it.

The female dog pokemon looked to be a houndur but was voilet in coloring instead of the black, had the same gray markings though has houndur and was just starting to get a longer tail and horns, showing she was nearing her houndoom maturity. She had longer ears though and a small jewel on her forehead showing her espeon side.

She carried her catch to the bank and sat it down on the side, making sure it was dead. "Oh I'm sorry!" she said quickly, "Was this your catch? Oh dear.. you may have it then, I can always catch another." Ruya declared.

Aster slid down the fallen tree branch, leaving his claw marks in the rotting bark before leaping back on the trail. His gray espeon tail whipped around devilishly in his evil enjoyment. “Man, did you see him slam into that log?” Aster laughed at Eubie’s folly. “He nearly cracked that thing in half with his skull. Man, if I thought he didn’t have a brain hemorrhage before, then…” Aster couldn’t finish as his laughter overwhelmed him.

Nyx kept his smile, but his head hung low enough that his gray Houndoom snout could drag across the ground. His tail lowered as he thought aloud, “Hey, not that it was fun and all, but did you think you went a little overboard by marking your territory on Eubie’s food?”

“What?” Aster asked before his dogging attitude got the best of him. “Oh, don’t tell me you’re going soft on that old omega.”

“No, no,” Nyx replied quickly to keep up his appearance around Aster. “I mean, that fall was one thing… actually, that fall was freaking hilarious,” Nyx laughed.

“I know what this is,” Aster dogged. “You’re soft.”

“I am not,” Nyx growled.

“You are so,” the Mightyena barked.

“Am not, you overzealous two-tail!” the Houndoom barked back.

“Ooh, look who resorted to name calling, the half-breed who’s gone and ****** on my piss,” Aster joked.

“Look who’s talking,” Nyx snapped. Just then, Nyx leaped out of the way as he noticed Aster charging towards him with crunching jaws. “Ha, all power and no skill, eh Aster?” he asked as he swatted sand at the Mightyena’s direction.

Aster covered his eyes with his paw to evade the attack. “I was just about to ask you the same question,” he commented as he ran towards Nyx with a take down attack.

Just as he took the direct hit, Nyx countered by grunting smog into Aster’s face. Distracted by the fact that they were heading back to Kota, the two dogs continued on with their friendly battle.

“I’m gonna get ya, I’m gonna get ya… I got ya!” Eubie cheered as he threw his wide fangs down onto the Goldeen. The Arcanine raised his jaws to find his mouth and the stream empty. “Where’d it go?” he asked his confused reflection.

“Oh, I’m sorry, was this your catch?” a voice asked.

Eubie shook his head in surprise. “Reflection? You can talk?” Eubie lifted his head as he heard someone clear their throat behind him. The Arcanine perked up his little eevee ears at the violet Houndour.

“Oh dear,” Ruya replied. “You may have it then, I can always catch another.”

The cheerful little Eubie replied, “Oh, no no no no, you can have it. Well, I mean I am a little hungry… but you did catch it, but I found it first… what I mean to say is that, well, we can always share it, right?” Eubie asked as he climbed out of the stream. Before Ruya could reply to the odd little fellow, Eubie shook his wet fur as he went, “Brrr!”

After chewing her last bit of flesh, Opal lied down in the shade and began to lick her paws clean. Her attention was distracted as she spied Kota pacing in a nearby clearing overlooking a section of the land. “Kota, what is it now?” she asked.

“It’s those damned betas and that wretched omega,” Kota growled. “They are much tardy. These absurd actions can only weaken the tribe.”

“I’m sure they’re on their way,” Opal told Kota calmly. “Why don’t you just sit down and have some meat. There’s still some left on the bone.”

Kota shook his head and walked over to the nearly picked clean Stantler leg. As he leaned his head down to take a bite, his black nose began to crinkle. The Houndoom lifted his head and squinted his eyes as he began to sniff the air.

Opal looked up from cleaning her front leg as Kota returned to the small clearing. “What is it now, Kota?” asked Opal in concern.

Kota sniffed the air once more before he growled. “I think I smell a foreign scent.”

Brii screamed in fear as she was sent off the log and into the water, her sister Tia had pushed herself up from the ground at the sound of her sister's howl of fear. But she was too late to do anything as the dazed Arcanine was allowed to see the weak omega land in the water, and go under after a few struggles to stay above the surface, howling and sputtering before she was gone.

"Brii... Brii... BRII!" Tia screamed, ignoring the threat of beast and water as she tried to chase after her sister, but she was forced to draw back, away from the water as her paws burned.

Snickering came from behind her, and Tia saw red. Snarling like a wild thing she whirled around, catching the trio of males by surprise. The smallest one, and closest, yelped in fear as a large paw came bearing down onto him. He was barely able to duck, and tried to defend himself with a water gun, but Seti was too weak against this mad behemoth. Another water gun was let loose, but Tia just barelled through it and tackled Seti, sending him flying a decent ammount of space before he came to a halt. She heard an exclimation from her left, and suddenly a large shock came to her system; already weakened from hungry, water and the start of fatigue, Tia went down from the shock with a howl of her own. She struggled, but the orange streaked Arcanine found herself unable to get up, or breathe, as something was now bearing down on her throat.

Then this god awfull roar came into the air. A startled howl-yip of pain before Tia heard a confused 'what!?' as the thing on her throat let up, but Tia was too weak to move now...

-~-

Riisha had been readying a good chewing out on Tura when she heard that howl of a scream, and instantly knew it was from Brii. Rage and fury boiling in her blood, Riisha just erupted into a flat out run, uncaring how the prey smacked into her or near tripped her up. She had to get there- then another howl, this time from Tia, and Riisha knew it was bad, and her blood ran cold before the madness of killing whatever threatened her pack overcame her, and she burst onto the scene. Not caring as she plowed over a small male, she made her way to her fallen sister, being strangled, killed or worse. The Houndoom raised his head from her sister's neck as she swung her head and hit him squarely with the Ninetales before dropping it and descending onto the male.

A fight broke out, which Tura stayed out of, only coming over a little to nudge Tia to make sure her sister was still alive before a pained barking yelp filled the air and the Houndoom named Fang was running away, tail between his legs as a nice gash ran down his back, even the armor there was marred a bit from Riisha's fury. The other males had already slunk away during the fight.

"Brii!" Riisha called out as she looked around, and as Tura decided to help her sister sit up, Tia wheezed out, "Sister Alpha... Brii .. Brii fell into the water." Riisha let out an anguished sounding cry as she suddenly sprinted to the water, ignoring instincts, ignoring her sisters, and leapt into the chilly stuff, almost going under herself as the current was too strong here. Just able to pull herself onto shore, Riisha stood there, dripping wet, shivering and shaking, and turned her head to where Brii would have gone. "..." sitting back onto her haunches, Riisha threw her head back and let out a long, mournfull howl, feeling like she had betrayed her pack in allowing one of their own to die in such a manor.

-~-

Brii ... was not feeling that well. She hurt. Everywhere, she felt weaker than even when she was a puppy, and she was cold. Brii didn't like that, where was Tia? Tia let her sleep near, sometimes alpha-sister too, Tura never did, but Tura was a mean sister.

Whimpering from fear, pain and confusion, Brii managed to push herself up to her feet, the young Arcanine was finally able to drag herself the rest of the way from the water before collapsing into a whining/whimpering lump of waterlogged fur, wondering where her pack mates were, and just thankfull she was out of the water, and not near that horrible creature ... and was trying to not realise she was alone untill her sisters found her.

the female laughed as she got soaked quickly by all the water coming from Eubie. "Hey, watch where you aim that" she giggle before dipping down and shoving the golden towards Eubie "I'm not terribly hungry, I jsut saw it was a easy catch. Oh my names Ruya, you from a pack around here?"

Kerberos and his half brother Deimos walked side by side, discussing a few things. Such as if they should try and expand the territory, breeding options and new member options. As Kerberos wants to expand his pack a tad more, though he will be careful about which members he'll accept.

"Could let one of us take Aurora as a mate, she may be small and a little frail but she still is young. She could birth strong pups I am sure" Deimos suggested.

"The only one I'd let take her as a mate would be you, brother. Daedalus is cocky enough and would get her in trouble and Ammon would probably end up giving her dead pups." Kerberos growled "I'd rather just have me and Aglaia having the children anyway."

Deimos hid a blush, not that he could blush anyway about him being with Aurora. "Well, your the one wanting a larger pack brother. I think were fine the way we are. Aurora is young, she probably wont want a mate for awhile yet anyway"

"Perhaps... just, don't let that fool Daedalus get into his head that he can mate alright? Aurora is easily pressured, I don't need her having pups before she's ready. Plus I need everyone to help raise MINE first." Kerb wasn't selfish, feeding the whole pack and cubs was a hard business.

"Of course brother." Deimos responded, "I'll let Ammon know, he and Aurora are like siblings"

"You do that, I want to go visit my family" Kerberos darted off leaving Deimos to deal with the dirty business of explaining why Daedalus should back off Aurora.

Kota squinted his eyes as he sneaked towards the scent, but the sound of Opal’s good intentions stopped him. “Kota, I can smell it too, and it’s farther than you think. The stranger isn’t close at all, we’re safe.”

Kota rolled his eyes behind Opal’s back before replying, “We can’t take any chances, Opal. You’re expecting pups and those blasted betas aren’t back to protect you. And what good is that Eubie going to be? What’s he gonna do, annoy the intruders to death? No way, Opal. It’s best to protect our pack, future and all. Now you stay put, I won’t be long,” Kota added before running off.

Eubie finished shaking off his fur. His shiny orange fur was neat, but his short mane stood on end without him knowing.

“Oh, my name’s Ruya,” the violet Houndour introduced herself.

“Oh, it’s been teee-rifically nice to meet you, Ruya!” Eubie replied in his perky way. “My name’s Eubie.” Eubie half listened as he ducked down and tore some scaly flesh off of the Goldeen. “Oh, yeah. I’m from a nice and friendly pack. Some of us were, uh… playing, earlier,” Eubie replied with an additional fib. “But how about you?” he asked as he nudged some Goldeen carcass towards Ruya. “I’m sure you have a splendid, fabulous and all over wonderful pack of your own,” he added with a flashing wide smile.

Aster and Nyx shared some friendly attacks as their battle ensued. They occasionally chased each other during the battle, not watching the directions they took. As Nyx faltered and got pinned by Aster, the Houndoom prepared an Ember attack but almost ended up swallowing the burning coals as he caught a familiar scent. “Hey,” he said as he shoved Aster off of him. “I know that scent. It’s mine. I marked that tree, it’s near… the pack. Oh crap, we were supposed to be back a while ago. Kota’s gonna be ticked.”

Aster rolled his eyes. “Oh, fine. We’ll postpone the battle so we can get back to Kota. But, for the record, I was winning.”

“Oh, you so were not,” Nyx spat as he followed Aster.

The arcanine Brii panted for air as she closed her eyes and let reality slip away until her sisters could find her. But as much as she tried to escape reality, reality found her.

“What are you doing here?” Brii opened her eyes to the stiff paws of the Houndoom Kota standing his ground to protect his pack from this “intruder.”

A Grief stricken Riisha returned to what was left of her pack, her family, and let the injured Tia lean on her as her younger half sister whimpered from the loss of Brii.

"Gone," Tia murmured bitterly from loss, "Brii is dead," the Arcanine whispered mournfully, and Riisha only remained silent, eyes closing as her ears flattened against her skull once more.

And then Tura spoke up. "She was weak. She would have died sooner or later,"

The comment had no sooner left her mouth before Riisha was upon her sister with a snarling roar. Her reasoning hadn't been the best when under stress such as this, mostly fighting, and she let her emotions and instincts control her. Tura tried to fight back, but Riisha was too much of an enraged beast now, and within seconds Tura was thrown to the ground, the front part of the fluff mane on her head had been torn right off and now lay between Riisha's clenched teeth.

"Get out of my sight!" The golden Arcanine/Raikou snarled as she spat the fluff out of her mouth. Tura was wide eyed, and seemed to try to say something, but Riisha had had enough! And a final snap got Tura to move, run, flee into the woods and leave the broken pack behind.

Riisha just stood there, glaring the way her sister had gone before Tia broke her thoughts. "Alpha .. sister,"

Riisha glanced over to the more niave one of the two, seemingly, left of the pack originally containing four. "We should eat," Riisha says quietly as she goes over to the battered ninetales corpse.

If an Arcanine could cry, Brii would have been in tears now as she opened her eyes, and found herself once more facing a 'monster', or something that had looked like the one that had attacked her. Fear and timidity prevented her from speaking and she tried to get up, to flee, but her body was too weak for such an action, so Brii did the only thing left open to the poor Omega, she forced herself to roll onto her back, ignoring her pains and whined loudly, tail tucking between her legs in the form of submission, trying to show she was no threat, trying to keep from being attacked yet again.

Ruya's ears flattened and a sad look entered her eyes. "I have no pack, I have been on my own since I was a cub. I really don't know what happened... I just woke up alone. My siblings and mother gone" she let out a sigh. "But" she gave a cheerful smile now "I have been doing quite well on my own. Though it is lonely."

~*~

A gray arcanine stood down wind, out of sight as he watched the houndoom alpha speak to the cowering female arcanine. He had witness the attack on the two sisters and would have intervened sooner if the alpha female had not shown. He then had given chase, wanting to see if he could aid the omega.

Seemed this alpha had gotten there first, now Remses would wait and watch, prepared to deal with this male if he tried to harm her. As Remses was not one for pointless voilence and this female was no harm to him.

~*~

The arcanine sister fled, being chased off by the alpha she had no choice but to leave.

As the fast creature raced across the forested lands, she seemed to unknownly run straight back into the three males, all three close to the ground as an angry looking Arcanine/Ninetales cross scolded them bitterly. Angry that they had nearly caused them to lose for a female in heat. Plus he was the only one allowed to mate anyway when the alpha looked up and froze.

He scented a female close by, one that was near her time.

"... Go, find me something to eat" and with that, Ramus took off, as it seemed though the female was near, she had just missed running into there group by a few feet and had passed them interally. But Ramus was quick, he would catch up.

“Yeah, see, there’s… no pack?” Eubie asked. As Eubie heard Ruya’s story, he too felt the same pain. It felt ten times worse in his heart, being that the rejection occurred over and over, starting with his own family from his first pack. His ears flatted down in sadness, but before his eyes could show sorrow, Eubie’s face showed signs of his mind thinking freely.

Eubie’s ears suddenly perked up as he got an idea. “Ah-ha! I got it! You could join my pack! I bet they would welcome you in!” You’d be surprised how much truth was in Eubie’s fib. If Opal was present to defend weakling omegas, Ruya might have a chance against Kota. That is, if she wanted to join a pack.

~*~*

Opal finished cleaning her paws and settled down to lie in the shade. Though lethargic, she took caution being all alone. Her caution caused her to snap her head up as she heard some rustling in the trees. “What is it now?” she yawned.

“Sorry we’re late, Opal,” Nyx apologized as he and Aster wandered into her sight.

“Oh, it’s just you two,” Opal sighed. “Kota said you were with Eubie. Where is he anyway?”

“Oh he’s… dammit, Aster, we left Eubie behind,” Nyx growled to himself.

“Forget him,” Aster replied. “Kota wouldn’t worry about a sap like Eubie.”

“But he would not want division in this pack,” Opal replied sternly as she stood up and stared Aster in the face. Aster’s only reply was his long, gray espeon ears flattening behind his head. “We cannot leave Eubie behind, but Kota is out there alone, and he would not want me alone.”

“Then what should we do?” Nyx asked.

Opal sighed. “As it pains me to say this, we’ll have to find Eubie later. For now, one of you will have to check on Kota while the other waits here with me. Nyx, perhaps you should go find Kota. He went that way, you could probably follow his scent before the wind dies down.”

“Okay, Opal,” Nyx replied as he raced off that way.

“And Aster, you stay here. Kota would want someone to keep me company,” Opal told Aster.

“Whoopie,” Aster sighed as he lied down under a tree near the pregnant Mightyena.

The red eyes could have pierced deep into the arcanine’s soul as Kota glared down in judgment on Brii. After an eerie pause, Kota grinned slightly. “Trying to give up easily?” he asked. “I wouldn’t blame you. You are in seriously pitiful shape. And, by the look of your pathetic health, you must be weak, perhaps an omega.”

Kota paced back and forth as he looked over the scared little arcanine. “It seems you came for no reason, just washed up on shore. Let’s keep it that way. Go back where you came from, and stay away from my territory.”

The Houndoom prepared to walk away, but paused as he saw the brush rustle. He scowled as he saw a familiar Houndoom/Absol walk out of the foliage. “Dammit, Nyx, you scared me half to death.”

“I’m sorry, Kota, but Opal sent me,” Nyx explained. “She said she didn’t want to leave you alone.”

Kota closed his eyes and nodded. “That girl.” After his moment of daydreaming, Kota turned back to Brii and scowled down upon her. “But everything is fine. Just a stray wandering into our midst.”

“Then we should leave her alone,” Nyx said as he looked over Brii.

“No,” Kota replied. “I have a better idea.”

Nyx tilted his head to the side in confusion.

“Why don’t you rough her up a little,” Kota replied.

“What?” Nyx asked, before adding quickly, “But, with all do respect, Kota, she’s more than injured. Perhaps we should just leave her alone? Maybe I can just watch her and make sure she leaves.”

“Come now, if she’s suffering now, what’s one scratch to her?” Kota told Nyx. “Besides, I would have gone more lenient if she wasn’t so pathetic to look at, let alone show mercy over.”

Nyx was stuck in a tight spot. He was given orders, but he knew this wasn’t right. And Kota isn’t the kind to back down, and refusing orders would only show weakness. Nyx bit his lip, knowing that one side outweighed the other to the point where he had no choice. Slowly, he collected himself and walked over to Brii. With a sad face eyeing her chest, the Houndoom raised his gray Absol claws.

Riisha and Tia had pretty much finished the meal, as without having to share with any other packmates, or keep in mind that others needed to eat too, they had savaged it into bare bones almost. And now they were curled up side by side, taking small comfort in the fact they still had eachother, even if it wasn't enough to be called a pack, or to probably have a chance to survive. Riisha listened to the sounds of Tia's soft snoring as her sister slept on. Riisha couldn't sleep though, ears flat against her skull, eyes staring blankly ahead, all she could do was try to figure out what to do now, where they could go from here with such a loss in a day.

-~-~

Tura continued to run, she'd fallen into some sort of stupor for it, not realizing how far she had gone, or how fast she was going, all she cared about was getting away, getting somewhere safe. And a small part of her was utterly terrified, she'd never been truely on her own before, and now, now she had been thrown out of her pack! Tura didn't know what to do exactly, or where to go. All she knew was that she had to keep running, if she kept running, nothing could get her, not even her sister.

Or so she thought, as she didn't notice she was being followed by something that was probably alot faster than herself.

-~-~

Brii didn't understand, why was she being attacked, what had she done wrong? She didn't want to be here, she wanted to be with her sisters, and all she could do was watch with fearfull eyes as the 'monster' now came over to her after speaking with the other, even if she wasn't injured, Brii just wasn't one to fight or try to defend herself, maybe if one of her sisters were in danger she would fight, maybe. But for herself? Never.

Another whined whimper escaped Brii as she shut her eyes, not wanting to watch the paw come down and strike her, and Brii foolishly hoped 'alpha-sister' or 'beta-sisters' would show up, and fend off the demon like hounds.

Remses had seen enough, he was not one for pointless violence and this was just slaughter.

You never kill unless hungry

You never slay unless to defend

For a dogs blood runs red, no matter Alpha, beta, omega or loner.

We are one.

The arcanine/absol sprang forward, the above averge arcanine snarled as he apeared out of the thickit and darted forward toward Nyx slamming his side into the absol/houndoom. Remses, the gray arcanine stood tall over Brii, the scyth on the side of his head glinting in the sunlight.

He did not speak though, he lowered his head towards the female bellow him and put his muzzle beside her ear "Be still and you will be home soon." he whispered gently.

~*~

Ruya blinked startled by how energetic this boy was. She tilted her head a little and giggled "I don't think your alpha would want me." She said simply, "I am not very good at hunting in a pack." she lied bluntly, as she could probably be of good aid. But Ruya had a nack for getting in trouble, she was not about to let it happen again.

~*~

More time passed before something orange leaped over Tura's head and landed infront of her, causing the Arcanine to stop in her tracks, which was not easy as she had been running for quite some while and had good speed going on.

Before her stood what looked like a rather large ninetales, he had a thick fur coat with the black stripes of an arcanine, a creamy belly and nine orange tails.

"You do know you are in my territory, female."

~*~

Daedalus was rather unhappy, Deimos had nailed into him to keep away from any of the females, as it seemed they were coming into season once more, he had been a pup last time it happened and wasn't really sure why he was so upset that he had to keep away from Aurora and Aglaia.

Even though Aglaia was Kerberos's mate, accidents happen when a female is in heat.

He didn't understand why Ammon could be around Aurora if he could not, why was it he was so upset over the fact he couldn't be around the omega female?

The arcanine sat now, watching as the pups played just outside of the den, being closely watched by Aglaia keeping an eye out for creatures that may prey on her cubs. Daedalus turned his gaze now towards the sleeping Aurora, she was beside Ammon of course who was watching the cubs play from where he was at.

Kerberos couldn't be seen, the arcanine guessed he must be inside the den with Eir, he was unsure of where Deimos was.

But a desire was burning inside Daedalus, he wanted to run, be free away from all these rules. The wild dog inside him wanted him to be more then a mear beta, a underling to Kerberos. The arcanine's eyes looked back over at Aurora and Daedalus knew what he wanted.

He wanted to be an alpha, but he could never challange Kerberos... the only way would be to leave. But he didn't want to go on his own.

Kota stepped back, but stepped forward as he lowered his head and growled. “I knew there was something up. It was just a surprise attack.”

The startled Nyx rolled back onto his paws and grunted from the bruise on his side as he rose up on his legs. Convinced that this was a surprise attack, the houndoom growled back while displaying his absol scythe. Showing off his power over age, Kota attacked first by lunging forward with a blazing blast of flamethrower fire.

As he watched Kota pounce, Nyx knew he didn’t want the injured female hurt. Before Kota could fire, the absol pounced and knocked Remses away from Brii. Nyx stepped back in an attempt to evade the oncoming flamethrower and prepared to defend with an odor sleuth attack.

“Not good at hunting? Come on!” Eubie replied. “I saw you attack that fishie. He just slipped out of my jaws without warning, then you came out of nowhere aaaand BAM!” he exclaimed as he slammed his paws into the stream, causing a wave of water to splash up on Eubie and Ruya. The wave returned to the waters to reveal a chipper yet slightly embarrassed Eubie grinning at the violet houndour.

With a cautious peace finally at her side, Opal walked out of the shade and lied down in the small clearing to sunbathe. With little to do, the bored Aster dragged the Stantler femur towards him and stared gnawing away on the bone.

It was almost love at first sight at the ninetales/arcanine cross for Tura, and even though her tail tucked between her legs in a slight form of fear/submissiveness, even before he spoke, as he was larger than Tura, and she was tired from the run. And then he said; "You do know you are in my territory, female."

She huffed a little, "I did not know that, and I can go anywhere I want now," Even though she said this, a small part of her wanted her to ask if the male had a pack, would let her join, she didn't want to be alone, didn't like being alone.

Brii was scared out of her mind and wits, and nearly died at the appearence of another 'monster', thinking this one was about to do the same as the other one seemed to be readying his claws for, but instead as he puts his muzzle down, he doesn't try to snap her ear off like Tura once tried, but instead; "Be still and you will be home soon."

Brii had never been good under stress; thinking while being scared out of her mind, it was a hard thing for Brii to do. And so her instincts made the connections before her mind did; male-protective non threatening, part Arcanine, she could smell that in his scent, reminding her of Riisha a little, part arcanine, part something else. So of course the first conclusion it jumped too was 'brother', because it couldn't be father. Father was dead. And so scared little Brii whined out 'brother?'

But before he could most likely reply, he was knocked back by the 'monster' that had been about to strike her down and another small whine escaped her as she shut her eyes and curled into a ball, as small as she could, muffled whimpers still escaping her.

Ramus sniffed the air a little before moving foward closer to the female.

"You talk big but your body langauge betrays you" the arcanine/ninetales cross smiled cunningly. He brought himself up beside her, face to face as dogs do when judging one another. "I don't find you a threat." he sniffed a little and smiled "You look as if you've been attacked actrually."

Ruya's growing tail wagged a little as she giggled, "Well.. if you go with me maybe I'll ask to join... but I don't want to go alone. I'm not good at fighting and I don't want to get into trouble."

Remses was startled, he didn't think he would be moved. But he didn't have time to react more then to take the flamethrower head on. The flame consumed him, soaring over his body and past, but not a singe of fur came, not a howl of pain. The flames died away and the tall gray arcanine stood with a look of glory.

For he heard one word. And that triggered memories and meanings inside this old male that caused him to feel protective, angry and causing him to bend his own rules a little.

"... You hypicrite foolish creatures. You unworthy low life scum." the deep voice of Remses growled, his head lowered and his fangs bore brightly. But he was ignoring Kota now, he was looking at Nyx.

"First you attack and now you defend, you act as if you have loyalties to this and then to that, you are a split creature, you do not know where you belong. You are a fickle false brethen!" he roared his mouth filling with a fire blast before he bit it out, showing he would not attack in such a way. Yet. He looked at Kota now.

"... I came meaning no harm to you. But to protect those who can not defend themselves. You do not deserve the title alpha." His mouth kept attempting to fill with flame as he wanted to attack and yet Remses ways kept him from down right tearing these two apart.

But his anger got the best of him, and making sure Brii was not in teh way the fireblast filled his mouth and he released the powerful attack, right at Nyx.

Eubie smiled, his little bushy tail wagging wildly with delight. “Oh, indeed, of course I’ll go with you, Ruya! I’ll never leave you alone cause that’s what friends do!”

Nyx and Kota kept their glaring eyes on Remses, Kota growled louder as he saw Remses turn to Nyx.

Nyx kept his glare on Remses, but rised his head and snapped his eyes open as he heard those words, “... You hypocrite, foolish creatures.” Nyx felt himself on both sides, and this stranger had to spell it out for him. But what could he do? Disobey orders, that would be weak. Nyx lowered his head sadly, not paying attention to the fire blast that both appeared and bit out.

Remses turned to Kota. "... I came meaning no harm to you. But to protect those who can not defend themselves. You do not deserve the title alpha."

The blood in Kota veins boiled, his red eyes glowed red hot like coals. Furiously enraged, the Houndoom howled as he leaped out and aimed to crunch his fangs deep into Remses’s back, little knowing that he was saving the torn Nyx’s life.

Aster dug and sharpened his teeth on the long, thick bone when his long black ear suddenly popped up in the air. “That sounded like…”

Opal lifted her head in concern. “Kota?”

“Something’s wrong,” Aster replied. “I got to go check it out.”

“I’m going with you,” Opal said as she slowly rose to her feet.

“It’s too dangerous,” Aster told her.

“Then you will protect me until I know Kota is safe,” Opal replied. “Now let’s move.”
