The PHT Virus Outbreak: City of the Damned

Avenger Angel

Warrior of Heaven
PHT Virus Outbreak
City of the Damned

Note:

The starting location has been changed. Instead of freely starting anywhere in Saffron City, every character starts off at the local Umbreon Moonlight Café, a restaurant on the west side of town. Every character involved in the RP starts as a customer during the dinner time hours. Also, put your current location in Saffron City on the top of each of your posts so everyone else knows where you are.

If you become infected, your next post needs to include your transformation. The chance of infection outdoors is 10%. If you’re inside, it gets cut down to 5%. That’s all for now.

Umbreon Moonlight Café

Thankfully, my eight hour shift was over. I had been doing nothing the entire afternoon but patrolling 25th street back and forward, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee. Lunch had been nothing but a tuna roll, so I was happy to finally get a decent meal for once. Still, I kept my black leather jacket on despite it was already warm by the booth where I was sitting. Last thing I wanted to do was reveal my badge and pistol to everyone around me. I always tried to avoid doing it unless I really had to. Otherwise… people just give you the weirdest stares… especially the kids. And there was nothing I hated more than drawing needless attention to myself.

Cushioned chair, plenty of leg room, I was happy to finally get a load off my feet. Now that my shift was over, I could finally relax and just take a breath of fresh air. Regardless, I was far from content about the whole thing, not like I usually am after a long day’s work. The entire lockdown of Saffron City was not settling very well with me, even though I told myself time and time again to not let it bother me so much. I knew the lockdown was for the better considering the hell that was happening outside that I had seen on TV and read in the paper, but I knew people were getting restless, and it was only going to make my job harder. But I guess being safe from the hybrids was worth it after what I had been hearing. Now… I just needed to make sure the citizens of Saffron were safe… from themselves…

I had been glancing over the long menu when suddenly I heard a distinct blasting sound coming from outside. For a moment my heart stopped and I threw down the menu on the wooden table in a surge of alarm and anxiety. I knew what that sound was and I had heard it many times before. Gunfire. Already an elderly couple right next to my booth were beginning to freak out, and I knew it wasn’t just me getting hallucinations.

I quickly glanced out the window and saw another flash of fire in the distance down the block with another blast echoing throughout the streets. I couldn’t see who had been firing in the dark, but I wasn’t about to hold back and just watch. I swiftly stepped out of the booth, slipped past a waitress who had just been standing there, baffled at the whole thing, and headed for the front door, my hand already reaching for my firearm. I quickly threw the glass door open, and stepped into the dark streets, pulling out my pistol…

Umbreon Moonlight Café

"Umm... here you go, sir," I stated politely as I handed a plate of piping hot kebabs down to the man. He was rather plump, dressed in a tuxedo fitted with a ridiculous bow tie. The man- or clown in my opinion -grunted in reply as he grabbed the pate roughly and chowed down, while handing me a small tip. I bowed couterously and left quickly, doing a little jog to the kitchen, shuddering a bit. Gah. Messy, piggy, digusting -whatever word you use to describe the scene before me- people... the lot of em'.

I sighed, wiping sweat which was dripping off my forehead. No wonder the waiter I was taking over got sick. I would too, if I had to face these kinda people every single day. Luckily, I only needed to take over the sick waiter for the day. I made up my mind to turn down the boss's offer to work here. If he ever offered this to me, that is. I'm a jack of all trades, after all. Odd Jobs are kinda fun from time to time, well at least in my opinon. Not many people choose this path though. Going outside too much, they say.

Well, I can't argure with them: Many have been grumpy ever since the lockdown in Saffron. I do long for the outside world from time to time... this city is kinda cramped, and a bit too urban for me and my pals. Heck, there's hardly any tree or greenry around here, unless you count the pitiful clump of flowers they call a garden. I only came to earn my daily bread, and this just had to happen, of all times! Seesh, that really got on my nerves.

As I proceded to enter the kitchen, a gunshot rang through the silient resturant. Immediately, chaos regined. Screams were heard everywhere, with women and children screaming their heads out- and exploding unfortunate eardrums in the process. In the corner of my eye, I saw a lean man standing up abruptly beside an an elderly couple who were seriously freaking out, making me wince a little. He threw the glass doors open, and stalked out of the resturant, his hand reacking for something in his pocket. Curious, I sliently followed him, trailing about three meters away from this strange- and dangerous man, I guess.

Jaso was sitting in bar stool drinking coffee and thinking about the current lockdown on Saffron. "Great. Juuust great. I just had to decide to wait an extra week for that vacation." clearly, it was not going well for him. He asked the waitress to the TV to Kanto News Station 5, saw the reports on the lockdown, and grumbled "Idiotic mayor, stupid lockdown, moronic hybrids."

After finishing his coffee, Jaso decided to strike a conversation with one of the other patrons, when one person proclaimed "I heard just being within contact distance of those hybrids will get you infected!" Another said "Yeah, good thing the mayor put Saffron on complete lockdown." yet another replied nervously, "Still, those Sentry Drones creep me out.."

When suddenly Jaso heard a gunshot! When he heard another he said, under his breath "Looks like the chaos is beginning..." So he rushed out the door, clutching the Pokeball in which his Tyranitar named Tyranno resided. Unaware of the adventure that was awaiting him...

Espeon Hybrid
Tiana Morenza – Umbreon Moonlight café

I was sitting in the corner of the café reading my book with Esperanza asleep on my lap. It had been a rather boring day yet again. All the days were starting to blend with the lock-down in place. Since there were no new trainers coming to challenge the gym in this time of considerable crisis, there was no reason for me or any other of the trainers to stay there.

I had come here to alieve some of the boredom and I was about to get my wish. I heard a series of blasts like gunshots and at first I thought it was only my imagination bringing my book to life but then other people started screaming and panicking, then I noticed that Esperanza had started awake at the noise and was looking about in alarm. So the shooting must have been real. Since none of the windows had crashed out, the shots must not have been aimed at the café.

As I looked around I saw two men and a waiter dash out the door of the café and into the street. With my heart beginning to race at the idea of some excitement, I put my book away in the canvas shoulder bag I had with me and whispered to Esperanza, “let’s go find out what this is all about shall we?” Esperanza nodded curtly and after she had stretched a bit, she leapt out of my lap and I followed her out the door after we had made our way through the havoc that had broken out in the café.

Once we were out in the street Esperanza took up her usual position at my right hand side and we ran to follow the three men, one of whom had pulled out a gun. When we had caught up to the three men, we were already at the crossroad and what we saw was enough to stop us all in our tracks, a policeman in uniform was standing over what remained of a disformed creature that had just been shot dead. What happened? What is that creature? Both of these questions popped into my head when the police man turned to face us and said, "I... I... it just happened, He was my friend and then..." he trailed off and I saw that the creature had been wearing another police uniform and realized that the one had turned into a Hybrid.

27th Street Outside

Jesus…

I already had my firearm drawn and had run down 27th Street like a maniac, thinking about nothing but what I had been trained to do. And long and behold, I found it was another cop, not a mugger like my first thought was. But that was nothing. Nothing compared to what I discovered he had been shooting at.

“Officer Joseph Andelen.” I told the fellow officer in uniform, pulling my coat aside to reveal the badge on my belt, “What in the hell just happened here!?”

“I… I…” He stuttered, sounding incredibly anxious, still with the pistol in his hands, just twitching the entire time, “It just happened, he was my friend and then…”

I then turned to the individual he had been shooting at. I quickly took a glance at his body and I could have vomited at that exact moment. The whole time I thought it was some kind of robbery, and only now I wish it had been just that. Just that and nothing else. But the reality of it all was slapping hard against my face.

It was another on duty cop in uniform, only now as a hybrid with his uniform mutilated. I looked over his body and concluded he became a hybrid of an Ursaring, with brown fur and claws. Most of his face had been shrouded by the shadows, but from what I could see, it definitely wasn’t normal. And then I looked at his chest. Two bullet holes, easily passing through the heart on both accounts.

“How… how in the hell did it happen!?” The officer panicked, “The whole city… He became a hybrid before my own eyes…! But… how!? How…?”

I just simply put my firearm away, and looked all around me. There were people everywhere. I had noticed that some of the attendants at the café had left the building to see what the matter was. And then I turned in the other direction, and saw multiple onlookers that had come from the opposite end of the block, obviously hearing the gunshots from the opposite side. There was no other hybrid that could have possibly infected him. Nothing. But then… how did it happen? Just how… was all of this happening so quickly and so easily?

At that moment, I knew it wasn’t the hybrids who were spreading the virus around, not like what the media had been telling everyone time after time. There was absolutely no way they could have gotten anywhere close to this officer’s location. Something else was causing it, something beyond the control of any of us…

But before I could even say anything about it, light itself suddenly just died. In a sudden rush of confusion, all the streetlamps had shut off, leaving us in total darkness. I quickly and frantically turned around and saw there was no source of light anywhere, not from the lamps, or anything in the windows. Even the café was pitch black now when seconds ago it was brightly lit.

Something was going horribly wrong…

That's where I saw it.

Jaso ran out, his Pokeball ready, and saw a body lying on the ground. And not just any body. A hybrid body, apparently an Ursaring hybrid...
He heard a cop talking to another cop, who, apparently, was the one who fired the shots. Jaso thought "How the hell could a hybrid get in to this city-turned fortress?!"

That's when the lights went out. Then he heard a feminen (sp?) scream and strained his eyes trying to find her, whoever she was, in the blinding sea of darkness. Suddenly, he heard a groan. A groan that sounded like an animal trying to speak in human tounge (sp?)... After stumbling for what seemed like an hour, he came upon a light. A light coming from a dimly lit Pikachu hybrid!

Jaso was about to run up to the hybrid when he heard the voice of the cop who had killed the other hybrid earlier. "Stop right there, you mistake of nature!"...

Honey quietly sat there eating her meal in the packed café. It been crowded like this all over the town since the town when into complete lockdown mode because of the hybrids. But it really didn't bother her too much. She really didn't have any desire to leave her hometown and though the ton thing was a bit annoying she had her faithful pokemon to help her break through the group of people. Which reminded her that Bowie had be in foul mood lately and she can't figure out why.

A blasting shot came from outside and Honey did what any sane person would got down and hide under the close thing she could find which happen to be a table she was eating at near the door. Several feet went past the table she currently occupied and going outside where the gunshot were coming for. Something told her to follow them and Honey quietly try to persuaded herself not to go but she finally lost to she good-willing nature which told her that someone may need her help. She leap from under the table she raced off after the other people who left. Honey spotted people standing around as she approached she saw something horrible that made her want to scream. A hybrid wearing a police uniform lay there with a shot wound on his head. She covered her eyes not liking to see anyone died, not at all like seeing blood oozed for a dead corpse.

Then the light suddenly when dim and almost like a natural function she took out her white and red pokeball let her Ampharos. Noticing how dark it was lit the area up with the ball at the end of it tail.

"What's... What going on here" Honey said as she began to fill with fear, "First Hybrid and now this." She began to freak herself out and started taking several deep breath to try to come down before she when mad with fear.

OOC: Wow you guys write fast or I write slow... And NP posted just when I was just about to post so I had to added more to it.

Umbreon Moonlight Café

What happened in the next few seconds was totally unbeilevable. The man, who revealed imself to be a cop, was in total shock as one of his collgues became an Ursaring Hybrid and was shot dead. I winced and lowered my head in respect. I hope that his death was painless, I thought grimly as the light suddenly flatered and shut off.

Great. Just great. First Hybrids and now this. I took off all my pokeballs from my bracelet-cum-pokeball holder and threw them into the air. A beam of red light erupted from tham and took the shape of a wolf like pokemon, a small, sleek pokemon and a tall, and itimading pokemon, then martilized and became my Mightyena, Lucied, Javas, my Sneasel and Zaber, my Absol.

<What the?! What's up with the lights?> questioned the Sneasel, looking around in panic. Lucied used one paw and knocked Javas on the head.

<OW! What gives?> he asked the Mightyena.

<Count yourself lucky that we're Dark types. We're more accustomed in the jet-black darkness> said the Mightyena as Zaber prodded up, defending himself and us in case of any unknown dangers. <You two better keep quiet if you want to live> muttered the Absol in dangerous tones. <Hmph. Party pooper> snorted the Sneasel in digust as I finally had a little too much of their talking and whispered, "Javas! We're in a sticky situation here!" That shut the Sneasel up.

I took off my waiter clothing, revealing my casual wear underneath, now accompained with a new red digital watch with black straps that I had just bought yesterday. "Well, c'mon," I whispered to my companions as Javas sat on my shoulder, with Lucied and Zaber sitting beside me.

20 minutes ago - Saffron City Gym

After having a good night's sleep from traveling to this City, we decided to go to Sabrina's Gym. I'd heard that she'd be a better challenge than the previous Gym Leaders. Unfortunately, the door was tightly locked, and we decided to try to go gather some information. I kinda expected something like this, since the city was closed off, but wanted to check anyway.

The closest place was the Umbreon Moonlight café, with the people who gathered there. We hoped that we'd be able to get some info on when or if the Gym would open.

Umbreon Moonlight café, present

I was enjoying my Chicken Sandwitch, while Dana drank an Icecram Sundae. I detested coffe, so I had ordered an Iced Tea instead. The young waiter was a bit surprised that I didn't order coffe, but we had no problems with our order.

"Well, this place turned out to have no leads on if the Gym will open. Do you think we'll ever be able to challenge Sabrina?" Asked Dana, in between sips.

I really had no idea why she ordered an Ice Cream Sundae, but paid it no mind. Maybe she wasn't really that hungry, perhaps.

The place smelled like an average bar, and as soon as I had walked in, I already regretted it. I had decided to go in anyway, seeing as this was a place of gathering and could hold valuable information. The atmospehere was relaitevly nice, but it seemed to me that some of the people looked a bit shady-ish.

I ate the last bite of my sandwitch and said, "Yea, we might have to ask at the Pokemon Center, instead. Do you think there would be a better lead there?"

She didn't have a chance to asnwer, because a gunshot rang out on the street, and a few people left to check out what had happened.

"Looks like I spoke too soon. Did you see the Gym emblem on that girl's pack? The one with the Espeon?" I asked, standing up and putting the fee on the table for the waiters to pick up.

She noded, and quickly finished her Sundae, probably getting frozen mouth in the process, and we dashed out to see what had happened outside, following the "crowd".

It turned out a that a cop had shot another cop who had turned into an Ursaring, rather suddenly. It seemed weird, since it was well publicised that no Hybrids were allowed in the city. Could there be another way that the virus spreads?

I had just spotted the girl with the Gym ID, when the lights went out, and said "That's strange..." and then I pulled out a Pokeball, and yelled, "Zap, help us out, now!"

A Raichu appeared from the Ball, and instinctivly sparked up his tail. I motioned to Dana to stay close to Zap, and again walked in the direction of that girl. That was the only thought on my mind right now: Finding out about that Gym, and then maybe later I'd try to see I could find a way to restore the power.

When the three of us had neared the girl, Dana called out, "Excuse me, but are you by any chance affiliated with the Saffron Gym?"

Storm Trainer
Alexander "AJ" Mclean - Roof of Umbreon Moonlight Café

AJ was standing on the flat roof of the building with his Flygon, Venus, next to him. He was looking to see if there was anyway he could fly of Saffron without being seen. From what he could tell, he couldn't. AJ sighed and shrugged his shoulders, turning to Venus since his plan looked doomed from the start.

"All I wanted was to go to the game corner in Celadon. Damn biker gang, if they had of let me use that tunnel, I wouldn't be stuck in this stupid place. Well, not much I can do now. We'd better get off this roof, before someone sees us and gets mad."

Venus nodded in agreement and allowed AJ to climb onto her back. As he was doing so, the sound of two gunshots echoed through the streets just down from where AJ was.

"What the -!" AJ yelled, "Quick Venus, let's check it out!"

The Flygon flew from rooftop to rooftop, trying not to be spotted. They neared the location of the shots and found a police officer holding a handgun and a dead hybrid in a police uniform lying on the ground. A crowd formed and another officer came forward, gun drawn, and talked to the first officer.

"I think we'd better get off the roof, its a bit sucpect us being up here. Take me down behind the building, so no one sees us." AJ whispered to his pokemon.

Obeying, Venus landed in the alley and was recalled to her pokeball. As AJ was exiting the alley, a blackout hit the city, and all the lights went out, leaving them in darkness.

"That's rather odd..." AJ thought to himself as he moved forward to get into the crowd surrounding the dead hybrid.

Espeon Hybrid
Tiana Morenza – The streets of Saffron not far from the Umbreon Moonlight café

When the man who had the gun revealed that he was a policeman too, I felt at ease about having been in the same café with him. Then after the uniformed policeman had sort of told his story, it dawned on me that what had been happening on the news wasn’t consistent with the media’s idea of the virus being spread by the Hybrids and I realized that here lay living proof, or to be more accurate dead proof, that they must be wrong.

So, how is it spreading? I thought, but before I could ponder this, all the lights in the city went out. And as the sun had just set it was almost pitch dark or to my unadjusted eyes it was. I did not scream but I heard a few other ladies that did. Apparently it seemed just as dark to others because I saw flashlights coming on and pokemon of the electric type adding their own sparks to the night.

Just then one of these, a Raichu who had lit the end of his tail with a small but bright ball of sparks came up to me. Apparently it’s trainer and a friend or sibling was just behind the Raichu because I could see my feet, Esperanza, Ombre, and two other pairs of feet behind the Raichu. My guess, about the tainer at least, was confirmed when a female voice came from behind the Raichu and addressed me, “Excuse me, but are you by any chance affiliated with the Saffron Gym?"

A bit baffled about how she had figured this out in the near complete darkness I answered, “Yes, I am, but I have three questions: Who are you, who is that with you, and how did you know I’m with the Gym?” Tiana asked as she squinted to see if she could make out any of the features on the face of her new acquaintance. The attempt was not successful as the Raichu’s light made all beyond it's radius darker.

Arken Halgrec – That one café place. Post 1

“More coffee, sir?” inquired the waitress, obviously nervous around her latest customer. A shady man dressed in black with his hood pulled up – hardly a pleasant sight, especially tucked into a corner to lessen stares as it was. She hesitated, getting anxious as he didn’t respond, and nearly shrieked when his head snapped up, a sickly smile under his gleaming sunglasses.

“Yeah, babe. Dark,” he chuckled at the wench, his gaze, even behind the tinted shades, paralyzing her with their sheer presence. For a few moments the pair remained in their positions, until Arken suddenly darted from his chair and jutted his face an inch from hers, “Boo.”

With a yelp, she fell backwards and began scrambling away, allowing Ark to settle down and continue his rest, “And hurry,” he called as she disappeared behind the counter, continuing to whisper, “Ah, these people get stupider every day. Soon my job will be too easy to have fun with.” A moment or two passed without incident, and the malignant character allowed them to do so, savoring the peace that had for so long avoided him. But, alas, there was no rest in his line of work, and so it came that silence was broken with a gunshot. Several people, as well as their pokemon, rushed out to see what had happened, but not Halgrec. No, it would be better if he swept along when they were gone and scooped up the left-overs of whatever happened.

Then came the black out. “Oh,” he grinned to himself, “the fates must want to be out there. They know I can’t resist this. Heh.” Slipping away silently, Ark blended easily into the shadows and padded along the trail other patrons had taken, soon coming to a group of on lookers viewing what seemed to be a mangled hybrid body. Cocking an eyebrow, he began to approach when a bubble of light exploded into view, emanating from some electric beast. The trainer walked to a female and began muttering about the gym.

Haw, no good, thought the criminal, remembering the unsuccessful raid he had had on the gym earlier that week. It would be poor for his business if witnesses started putting together descriptions of him, so it was best if such conversations never occurred in the first place. Keeping his hood pulled low over his eyes, Ark stealthily let out Vanish, who understood that being quiet was a given, and the two teleported to stand between the girl and the man with the Raichu.

“Hey there buds,” he began, head bowed low. “The lot of you should get outta’ here. Bad stuff is gunna’ go down, uh huh.”

Albert Shisui - The Umbreon Moonlight café - #0001

In one of the seats in the café, a sleeping form groaned, moments before waking up. He rubbed a tired eye, before looking at the cause of his awakening, a yellow-feathered duck that was standing in front of him and hitting him in the head. He smirked before pulling the duck close to him. "Heh. So how's things, Pablo?" he asked, moments before the lights went out. "Huh... that's funny. Well, I guess we have to leave then," he added after being left in the dark. Pulling out a red and white sphere, he pressed it slightly, and a red beam came forth, touched the Psyduck, and absorbed it as he prepared to leave the lightless building.

"Stop right there, you mistake of nature!" was the last thing Jaso heard before a third gun went off, and a corpse fell to his feet. Jaso was disgusted with the cop, but he didn't want to make trouble. He'd already had enough of prison life. So instead, he focused on how someone could have become a hybrid when there no outside hybrids within miles of Saffron. "It just.. doesn't make any sense..." Unless... Of course! The virus must be spreading by something other than infected hybrids!"

"Now to figure out how to get the power back on, this place is darker than a Gengar with an evil heart..." So he went on, deciding to fly out of that area with Venos, his Crobat. After what seemed like hours of searching, he gave up. "Gah, it's hopeless. I can't see a darn thing." Suddenly a dim light began to come from what looked like a barely visible Raichu that was near a few other people. "At least it's a light." he muttered as he began to land....

Espeon Hybrid
Tiana Morenza- Darkened streets of Saffron

While the trainer was thinking of how to respond to my three questions, two things happened another shot rang out after a shout of, "Stop right there, you mistake of nature!" Apparently someone must have caught a glimpse of something that looked like what they thought was another Hybrid but it turned out to only have been some poor person that had been carrying their pikachu, both were now dead.

I stayed right where I was afraid that if I moved towards the now freaked out policeman that he might shoot any thing that looked like a Hybrid in the dark. Then all of a sudden a black figure appeared between me and the trainer. Although his hood covered his face, he had bent low to try and hide himself but in doing so he had put his face within the range of the Raichu's light and I got a good look at his rather scary bleak face.

When the new stranger realized this he immediately pulled up out of the light but he didn't go far because I could still see his feet in the light of Raichu's tail then he muttered just loud enough for us to hear him, "Hey there buds,The lot of you should get outta’ here. Bad stuff is gunna’ go down, uh huh.” I immediately responded, "You can get outta here if you think bad stuff is gonna happen if you want, but seeing as we're all stuck here anyway what with the power down, I'll stay right here thanks. By the way you're face looked familiar, have we met before?"

OOC: I have a request to make, could we not have everyone gather around my character's and Bron's? I won't ask anyone who has already approached to leave but, could we try to have more than just our conversation going on? I mean come on, you all have perfectly good imaginations otherwise you wouldn't be in this RPG, please use them!

I was a bit out of sight, but the girl was still able to see me, so I spoke, "Well, When you werfe leaving to check out the commotion, we noticed the Badge Emblem on your pack. We were hoping you could tell us what happened to Sabrina."

As i walked closer into the light of the Sparks on Zap's tail, I heard somone around us say something about leaving, and waved him away, saying, "I don't know about you, Bub, but I don't have the abiltiy to pass through thouse Auto Tanks' sensors undetected."

We heard a shot, and figured it was another unfortunate soul getting shot. Maybe the cops should ask questions before they shoot? What if those Hybrids weren't dangerous? They kinda used to be people, so shouldn't they have rights like people? Or, does this city take away those rights as soon as somebody becomes a Hybrid. I'd have to ask that cop later.

"Bron, how rude to not untroduce yourself! I'm Dana, and this is Bron. We kinda got stuck in the city, after traveling here looking for part-time work, and to challenge the Gym." Said Dana, with the hope that the shady character who followed us would leave, seeing as how he wasn't wanted that much.

"Yea, sorry about that, Dana. So, would you be able to tell us anything, Miss....?" I said, turing to our new acuantance again, and hopiing she would get the hint about her name.

<Humph! Does he still like me, his own adopted sister? Maybe this darkness will be cozy, allowing us to get closer to each other?> Thought Dana to herself, silently.

OOC: They are not related by blood, so I see no problems if they have a relationship going.
