Okay, here's Chapter 5! This one's rated PG-13 for some of Darkrai's language. This chapter was beta-read by Absol6028. In this chapter, we learn more about Alakazam's backstory, and a previous character is reintroduced. Enjoy!

Chapter 5: Alakazam
ZAP! The sound of Alakazam teleporting echoed in the uninhabited foothills of Mt. Silver.
ZAP! He had never realized how fast Vespiquen and Combee could fly. Gardevoir was next to him, teleporting in unison with Alakazam.
ZAP! Alakazam still had that funny feeling about Gardevoir. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had known her from somewhere. “Might as well get it out of the way,” he thought.
ZAP!
“Gardevoir,” he communicated telepathically. “Do I know you from somewhere? I just can’t shake the feeling.”
ZAP!
“Yes, you’re right. You do know me from somewhere,” she thought coldly. “You may remember me as an innocent little Ralts that you almost killed!”
“When was that?” Alakazam asked confused. “It could have been during my Team Snagem days. I don’t remember much from when I was a Shadow Pokemon,” he confessed.
ZAP!
“You were with Team Snagem? You just keep getting worse and worse the more I get to know you.” Gardevoir’s voice dripped with acid, her hatred coming off in waves.
ZAP!
“You obviously don’t understand, Gardevoir. Team Snagem captured wild Pokemon and forced them to become Shadow Pokemon. Thankfully, a young man named Wes liberated us all. And to explain my affiliation with Dark type Pokemon, many Shadow Pokemon were Dark types, because they were easy to ‘Shadowfy.’ All former Shadow Pokemon have a strong bond with each other, because we are the only ones who can truly understand what we went through. Are you happy now?”
Gardevoir was obviously shocked by this. Her mother had raised her to loathe all Shadow Pokemon, all Dark type Pokemon, and anyone associated with them. She had never realized that the former Shadow Pokemon were taken by force. “All is forgiven, Alakazam. Now I don’t have to use my backup plan.”
“Backup plan?” Alakzam thought, puzzled.
“Gallade! Show yourself!” Suddenly, a Gallade teleported next to them. ZAP! “This is Gallade. He took me in after you attacked me so many years ago. He is like a father figure to me. He is also a retired assassin. I had asked him to kill you if you had betrayed us on this mission. I am truly sorry for mistrusting you.”
The three of them then heard a loud voice. “HIVE. RETRIEVE.”
“Yes, my Queen,” the voices droned. Alakazam, Gardevoir, and Gallade were all picked up by a massive swarm of Combee and carried towards Vespiquen. They continued moving towards the hideout in the air, this time being carried rather than teleporting.
“You two had stopped following us, and I got impatient. I’m assuming he’s friendly considering you haven’t murdered him yet,” she said, gesturing to Gallade.
“Yes, you are correct,” Gardevoir answered. “Gallade will be our ally.”
“Good,” Vespiquen said. “Now, prove yourself useful, Gallade. We’re here.”
Team Rocket’s hideout loomed into view. It wasn’t much of a hideout, but a well disguised office building. The sign out front said, “Silph Co.” It was an average-looking place. Gray, non-distinguishable, not too big. It was a very forgettable place.
Vespiquen spoke. “We’re going around back. Darkrai is being held in a room on the 1st floor. We’ll break through the window, snatch Darkrai, and leave. Standard hit-and-grab mission.”
They flew over the top of the building, with Alakazam, Gardevoir, and Gallade still being carried by the Combee. Slowly descending, they spotted the room that Darkrai was being held captive in. Inside was a Mr. Mime, Darkrai, and Giovanni, who was looking a little worse for wear. After, they had landed, Vespiquen spoke again. “Okay, is everyone ready?” They all nodded. “All right then. Hive. BONNNNNNNNNZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“YES, MY QUEEEEEEEEEENNNNN!!!!” The Combee screamed. They crashed through the window suprising Giovanni. Gallade followed right behind them, and hit the Mr. Mime in the face with a Night Slash. It was knocked out cold. Darkrai fired a Dark Pulse at a small object on the ground as Alakazam and Gardevoir combined their Psychic powers to hurl Giovanni across the room. Darkrai then finished him off with a Dark Void to the chest.
“Lights out!” he exclaimed joyfully. “Thanks everybody,” he then said, addressing them. “I was kind of in a tight spot there.” Suddenly, an alarm sounded from the building.
WEEEE-OOOOO! WEEEE-OOOOO! WEEEE-OOOOO!
“Looks like we’re not out of the woods yet,” said Alakazam, as a man and woman with matching uniforms, and a Meowth came down the stairs. The man had medium-length blue hair, and the woman had long red hair. Both were the same height.
“Who are you guys?” Alakazam asked telepathically.
“Prepare for trouble, here at Silph Co.”
“And make it double, go, go, go!”
“To protect the world from devastation!”
“To unite all peoples within our nation!”
“To denounce the evils of truth and love!”
“To extend our reach to the stars above!”
“Jessie!”
“James!”
“Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!”
“Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!”
“Meowth! That’s right!”
“Wobbuffet!”
"Mime, Mime!"
“Okay… that’s kind of weird…” Gardevoir communicated telepathically.
“I think they want to fight...?” thought Alakazam unsurely.
“We’ll teach you to mess with Team Rocket’s plans!” shouted the blue-haired one, James.
“Go everyone!” screamed, the red-head, Jessie. In addition to the Meowth, Mime Jr. and the Wobbuffet that were already out on the field, Jessie sent out a Seviper, a Yanmega, and a Woobat. James sent out a Carnivine, and a Yamask. Humorously, James’s Carnivine started to try and bite his head off, but James managed to wrestle it off of himself.
Alakazam concentrated his mind and flicked his spoons at Seviper. Confused, Seviper was lifted off the ground and started flailing in the air. Alakazam then promptly threw him into Woobat, knocking them both out.
Meanwhile, Meowth tried to launch a Fury Swipes attack at Vespiquen. “Hive. Attack Order,” she commanded.
“Yes, my Queen,” they droned. However, some of the Combee were still recovering from the banzai attack, so Meowth managed to fight them off.
Mime Jr. and Yamask tried to fight Gallade two on one, but he made quick work of them both. As Yamask tried to launch a Shadow Ball at him, Gallade teleported behind it and smashed it with a Night Slash, sending it flying into the air. Mime Jr., imitating Yamask also flew through the air. Both landed quite a distance away, and were tangled up, but were still able to battle. “That was… odd,” Gallade spoke to the others telepathically.
Gardevoir spotted Carnivine trying to Bite her, just as it had been Biting James a moment ago. She twirled out of the way, tripping Carnivine along the way. Carnivine face-planted on the ground, stunned. Gardevoir ripped a Psychic attack into Carnivine’s head and he was knocked out cold.
Darkrai, seeing that there were five Pokemon left standing, started launching attacks. First, a Dark Void attack at Yanmega, which put it to sleep. Then, an Ice Beam to finish it off. After that, Darkrai launched a Dark Pulse at Mime Jr. and Yamask, who were still trying to untangle themselves thanks to Mime Jr.’s mimicking. Both were sent flying again, but this time into the Silph. Co. building. Meowth had tried to sneak up behind Darkrai, and just as he was about to hit Darkrai with a Fury Swipes attack, Darkrai turned around and used another Dark Void on Meowth. He used a Dream Eater attack on Meowth, regaining what little energy he had lost, and Meowth fainted.
“I’m running a train on these *****es!” he shouted. Darkrai then turned to Wobbuffet, who hadn’t moved the whole battle. “You should be easy,” he said smugly. Darkrai charged up a Dark Pulse, and unleashed a mind-numbingly powerful blast.
“Darkrai, no!” shouted Gallade. But it was too late. Wobbuffet countered the Dark Pulse with a Mirror Coat. The attack came screaming back at Darkrai, more powerful than ever.
“Oh, shi-“ Darkrai was cut off as the attack ripped into him, and sent him flying across the makeshift battlefield. He was slammed into a nearby tree, still clinging on to consciousness. “Well, that came back to bite me in the ***,” he said weakly.
“Really, Captain Obvious?” Vespiquen said sarcastically. “Hive. Heal Order,” she ordered, visibly sympathetic to Darkrai’s pain.
“Yes, my Queen,” said the Combee. Darkrai was swarmed by the mass of them, invisible to anyone else underneath the shield of Combee. They parted after a few seconds, and Darkrai started to float again.
“I feel, surprisingly… better,” he concluded. “What’s the deal with that thing, anyway?”
“You just have to know the secret,” explained Gallade. “That blue part is a decoy. The real Pokemon is its black tail.” Sure enough, when Gallade struck the tail with a Night Slash, the blue decoy deflated, with Wobbuffet obviously unable to battle.
With all their Pokemon, fainted, Jesse and James looked awkwardly at each other.
“We were beaten by… wild Pokemon?” Jesse asked, obviously shocked.
“Yes, I think that you’re right,” said James.
Acting on instinct, Alakazam and Gardevoir used their Psychic powers to throw Jesse and James high into the sky. As they flew away, they could be heard screaming.
“Team Rocket’s blasting off again!”…………….*ting!*

Yes, I'm the latest person to include a Team Snagem element in their fic. So what? Anyway, I went with the old-school Team Rocket entrance, because I like that one the best. And I used their current, up-to-date teams. I hadn't followed the anime much so I was sad to learn that there was no more Arbok or Weezing. But as always, please review!
