Welcome to the Ribbon Syndicate League, a prestigious League where only the crème de la crème are permitted. This League employs rigorous and ofttimes eccentric rulesets that will put your battle skills to the test.
The Ribbon Syndicate League is unique in that, instead of using "badges" to measure a member's success, the League uses "ribbons." There are several different types of ribbons for League members to obtain, from "League Ribbons" to "Special Ribbons." Members of the Ribbon Syndicate League must employ battle strength and logical cunning to maximize their efficiency within the League.
The Ribbon Syndicate League offers five different categories, from which challengers attempt to obtain ribbons.
These categories are based on the five Pokémon Contest categories: coolness, cleverness, beauty, cuteness, and toughness.
General Rules
1) All main SPPf rules apply.
2) Please show respect to every member of this League; treat other members how you would like to be treated.
3) If there is an issue, please be sure to contact one of the RSL Coordinators immediately.
4) Do not use cheated/hacked Pokémon (Pokesav, Pokegen, illegal Abilities through AR, etc.).
Anyone found doing so will be banned, as it is an insult to those who have worked hard to legitimately obtain their Pokémon.
5) This League follows the SPPf Battling Standard Rules as well as Smogon tiers.
6) Novices, Experts, and Coordinators must offer wifi battles, though Pokémon Showdown is permitted if a challenger requests it.
7) Novices, Experts, and Coordinators must also offer single battles if a challenger requests it, though they are free to offer other battle styles as well.
8) Never disconnect from a battle (forfeiting is okay). You may incur penalties if you are found to be purposefully disconnecting. If you have connectivity issues, mention it before a battle.
9) Do not post spam.
10) Do not use foul language, whether it be in your posts or in your Pokémon nicknames.
11) If you are a Novice/Expert/Coordinator, you must remain active.
Posting in this League with posts such as "activity post" do not count as remaining active.
Conversely, it is not necessary to post in the League every day, every week, etc.
Maintaining an active presence on the forums and being reachable for challenges is acceptable.
12) Have fun!
Key Terms and Concepts
Before explaining the rules of the League in depth, it is important to identify some key concepts and terms within the League:
Contest Categories: The Contest Categories are the five areas in which the Ribbon Syndicate is divided. The five Contest Categories are coolness, cleverness, beauty, cuteness, and toughness.
Each Contest Category has 5 League Ribbons to obtain (Normal, Super, Hyper, Master, and Final Ribbons).
League Ribbons: League Ribbons are the Ribbon Syndicate's version of badges. You earn these ribbons by defeating Novices, Experts, and Coordinators.
Effort Ribbons: Effort Ribbons are the currency of the Ribbon Syndicate League. You amass Effort Ribbons by participating in battles, and use accumulated Effort Ribbons to buy Special Ribbons.
Special Ribbons: Special Ribbons can be bought from the Ribbon Shop with Effort Ribbons. Special Ribbons give certain perks and bonuses to the challenger that uses them.
Novice: A Novice is a skilled Trainer within a particular contest category (the equivalent of a "Gym Trainer"). If a challenger defeats a Novice, the challenger receives a Hyper Ribbon.
Expert: An Expert is an especially skilled Trainer within a particular contest category (the equivalent of a "Gym Leader"). If a challenger defeats an Expert, the challenger receives a Master Ribbon.
Coordinator: A Coordinator is the final leader in a particular contest category (the equivalent of an "E4 Member"). If a challenger defeats a Coordinator, the challenger receives the Final Ribbon in that Contest Category. If a member receives all 5 Final Ribbons, he or she will be declared a Ribbon Syndicate Champion.
