Welcome to the Ribbon Syndicate League, a prestigious League where only the crème de la crème are permitted. This League employs rigorous and ofttimes eccentric rulesets that will put your battle skills to the test.

The Ribbon Syndicate League is unique in that, instead of using "badges" to measure a member's success, the League uses "ribbons." There are several different types of ribbons for League members to obtain, from "League Ribbons" to "Special Ribbons." Members of the Ribbon Syndicate League must employ battle strength and logical cunning to maximize their efficiency within the League.

The Ribbon Syndicate League offers five different categories, from which challengers attempt to obtain ribbons.
These categories are based on the five Pokémon Contest categories: coolness, cleverness, beauty, cuteness, and toughness.

General Rules

1) All main SPPf rules apply.

2) Please show respect to every member of this League; treat other members how you would like to be treated.

3) If there is an issue, please be sure to contact one of the RSL Coordinators immediately.

4) Do not use cheated/hacked Pokémon (Pokesav, Pokegen, illegal Abilities through AR, etc.).
Anyone found doing so will be banned, as it is an insult to those who have worked hard to legitimately obtain their Pokémon.

5) This League follows the SPPf Battling Standard Rules as well as Smogon tiers.

6) Novices, Experts, and Coordinators must offer wifi battles, though Pokémon Showdown is permitted if a challenger requests it.

7) Novices, Experts, and Coordinators must also offer single battles if a challenger requests it, though they are free to offer other battle styles as well.

8) Never disconnect from a battle (forfeiting is okay). You may incur penalties if you are found to be purposefully disconnecting. If you have connectivity issues, mention it before a battle.

9) Do not post spam.

10) Do not use foul language, whether it be in your posts or in your Pokémon nicknames.

11) If you are a Novice/Expert/Coordinator, you must remain active.
Posting in this League with posts such as "activity post" do not count as remaining active.
Conversely, it is not necessary to post in the League every day, every week, etc.
Maintaining an active presence on the forums and being reachable for challenges is acceptable.

12) Have fun!

Key Terms and Concepts

Before explaining the rules of the League in depth, it is important to identify some key concepts and terms within the League:

Contest Categories: The Contest Categories are the five areas in which the Ribbon Syndicate is divided. The five Contest Categories are coolness, cleverness, beauty, cuteness, and toughness.
Each Contest Category has 5 League Ribbons to obtain (Normal, Super, Hyper, Master, and Final Ribbons).

League Ribbons: League Ribbons are the Ribbon Syndicate's version of badges. You earn these ribbons by defeating Novices, Experts, and Coordinators.

Effort Ribbons: Effort Ribbons are the currency of the Ribbon Syndicate League. You amass Effort Ribbons by participating in battles, and use accumulated Effort Ribbons to buy Special Ribbons.

Special Ribbons: Special Ribbons can be bought from the Ribbon Shop with Effort Ribbons. Special Ribbons give certain perks and bonuses to the challenger that uses them.

Novice: A Novice is a skilled Trainer within a particular contest category (the equivalent of a "Gym Trainer"). If a challenger defeats a Novice, the challenger receives a Hyper Ribbon.

Expert: An Expert is an especially skilled Trainer within a particular contest category (the equivalent of a "Gym Leader"). If a challenger defeats an Expert, the challenger receives a Master Ribbon.

Coordinator: A Coordinator is the final leader in a particular contest category (the equivalent of an "E4 Member"). If a challenger defeats a Coordinator, the challenger receives the Final Ribbon in that Contest Category. If a member receives all 5 Final Ribbons, he or she will be declared a Ribbon Syndicate Champion.

Battle Modes

There are two main methods of conducting battles within the Ribbon Syndicate League: For Fun and For Glory.

For Fun

In the For Fun battle mode, Ribbon Syndicate members are free to challenge other members in regular battles. The battle style, battle tier, battle rules, etc. are left completely up to the two members involved in the battle. Members who participate in For Fun battles will not lose any Effort Ribbons or League Ribbons from losing For Fun battles. Members cannot utilize Special Ribbons in For Fun battles. Members who participate in For Fun battles will earn Effort Ribbons for these battles: 5 Effort Ribbons for a win and 2 Effort Ribbons for a loss.

To participate in a For Fun battle, fill out the first form and post it in the League.
When you see someone looking for a battle opponent, feel free to VM/PM them for a battle.
When battles are completed, both members are to fill out the second form and post it in the League.

Code:
Seeking Battle Opponents! (For Fun)

Username:
Available for the Next: [amount of time, example: 2 hours]

Code:
Battle Results (For Fun)

Username:
Battled with: [username]
Result: [example: Win 4-0]

For Glory

The For Glory battle mode is the central battle mode of the Ribbon Syndicate League, and the only mode in which challengers can earn League Ribbons.
Each Ribbon has its own unique rules that must be adhered to in order to earn the Ribbon:

Normal Rank Ribbons

KFqfkim.png
INgyNvU.png
NgfIwqy.png
hwi8Jek.png
q2gaHrg.png

If a League member wishes to win a Normal Rank Ribbon for any of the Contest Categories, that member completes the following form and posts it in the League:

Code:
Seeking Battle Opponents! (For Glory)

Username:
Looking to Obtain: [name of ribbon]
Special Ribbon: [name of Special Ribbon you are using, 1 per battle]
Effort Ribbon Wager [min. 1 Effort Ribbon per battle]
Available for the Next: [amount of time, example: 2 hours]

Any Novice, Expert, or Coordinator in any Contest Category can accept a League member's battle request.
(ie. the Beauty Expert can respond to a challenge for a Tough Normal Ribbon, and the Tough Coordinator can also respond to a challenge for a Tough Normal Ribbon)

When the battle is over, both the League member and the Novice/Expert/Coordinator are to fill out the following form and post it in the League:

Code:
Battle Results (For Glory)

Username:
Battled with: [username]
Result: [example: Win 4-0]
Looking to Obtain: [name of ribbon]
Special Ribbon: [name of Special Ribbon you are using, 1 per battle] (challenger only)
Effort Ribbon Wager [min. 1 Effort Ribbon per battle] (challenger only)

Normal Rank Ribbon battles have the following battles stipulations:

• Both Pokémon teams must contain a Pokémon whose main body colour matches the Contest Category in which you are participating.
Main body colour is defined as a colour that takes up at least 50% of a Pokémon's body.

For example:
Half of a Girafarig's body is yellow, therefore it would be eligible to be a Tough mascot.
Only Garchomp's stomach is red, therefore it would not be eligible to be a Cool mascot.

- Cool = Red
- Clever = Green
- Beauty = Blue
- Cute = Pink
- Tough = Yellow

• You can only win League Ribbons through For Glory battles.

• Novices, Experts, and Coordinators can enter the League as challengers.

• Novices/Experts/Coordinators automatically earn their own Ribbon after obtaining the necessary prerequisites.

• You do not lose any League Ribbons if you lose Normal, Super, Hyper, or Master Rank battles.

• You must wager at least 1 Effort Ribbon in every For Glory battle.

• Novices/Experts/Coordinators do not wager Effort Ribbons when accepting challenges.

• If you win a For Glory battle, you receive double your wager of Effort Ribbons.

• If you lose a For Glory battle, you will lose your wager of Effort Ribbons.

• You can still participate in For Glory battles if you have no Effort Ribbons, you simply cannot win any Effort Ribbons from said battles.

• Only one Special Ribbon can be used per battle.

• Novices/Experts/Coordinators cannot utilize Special Ribbons when accepting challenges.

• Once a Special Ribbon has been used, it is removed from your possession.

• A Special Ribbon is removed from your possession after use even if its effect did not come into play during the battle.

• BL Pokémon will not count as OU Pokémon for OU Pokémon limits.

• You are permitted to use a shiny Pokémon's alternate colour to fulfill the Normal Rank Ribbon battle stipulation.

• Challengers can PM/VM Novices/Experts/Coordinators to attempt to arrange a time to battle.

• If a Novice/Expert/Coordinator does not wish to receive challenge PMs/VMs, they must post in the League stating that they will not accept challenge PMs/VMs.

Wow, it came earlier than expected. Can't wait to begin!

WhyBuffet

Pokémon Breeder
The Ribbon Syndicate League is officially open!

Please feel free to apply for any vacant position.
However, keep these two things in mind:

1) The one open Coordinator position will not be filled on a first come, first served basis.
You are free to apply for said position, but it will be left up to a consensus between myself and the other Coordinators if you will be accepted for said position.
As a precaution, please include a backup application for any Novice/Expert position you may also be interested in.

2) If you apply for a Novice/Expert position, please be prepared to be active. Posting in this League with posts such as "activity post" do not count as remaining active. Conversely, it is not necessary to post in the League every day, every week, etc. Simply maintaining an active presence on the forums and being reachable for challenges is acceptable. I reserve the right to remove anyone from a Novice/Expert/Coordinator position if I feel they are consistently unavailable for battles.

- Due to the low number of members at the moment, the five Coordinators will be filling in for the roles of the Experts and Novices of their particular Contest Category
(ie. The Coolness Coordinator will take on the responsibilities of the Coolness Expert and Novice)
This will stay in effect until we get some users applying for said positions.

- While it is encouraged that you utilize the forms on the OP to signal when you are available for battles, I am not going to force you to do so (as Art has graciously demonstrated above).
As long as your message provides all the necessary information, you are free to post however you want.

- Congratulations to xDIRCIOx, who has been promoted to the position of Cute Coordinator.

Well, I guess I need to get more teams ready for all ranks, or for just 3 of them.
