I'm in. Riviera was a very fun game, and very easy for me to get into. The thing I liked the most about it was the amazing character designs.

I'm in too. I didn't find it so easy to get into, mainly because of the battle and exploration system (I've never seen something like that before). Anyways, betwenn character designs, story and all that artwork (cutscenes, conversations and cutscenes), who could resist?

Welcome to the club both of you.

I liked it because of the great graphics and the good storyline the game had.

Any of you got all in Item Manual?

Unfortunately I had a busy summer, so I only had the time to beat it once. I got the Serene ending then. I've been meaning to pick it up and play it some more again, in hopes of finishing off the Face Art collection and the Cut Scene collection, as well as getting the Music Sheet and Spiral Shell. I suppose the game wasn't as easy to get into as I made it out to be - it definetly took a lot of getting used to before I was comfortable with the lack of free-range exploration. But once I was there I couldn't stop playing it. Maybe I'll pick it up again today and try to get a little farther on the second file I started.

I've always thought there should be a prequel to it that had us in the roll of the original Advent Angels during Ragnarok, and perhaps even a little bit before, so we get to meet the Gods and Goddesses that sacrificed themselves. Exploring Asgard would be neat, too.

A bit off topic: I know Pokemaníaco Desesperado knows about their next game, Yggdra Union, but perhaps you'd be interested in checking that out, as well Lemurian?

Yeah, a prequel would rock I can see the Archangel betraying Asgard and being sealed, as well as the battle at the first place.
And work in those finals, they are worth the effort.
And now that I look to my sig, I feel sorry for Seth again, the poor girl didn't even have the chance to be bad...

We could even see the Seven Magi, and perhaps see how Hector turned into such a prick >.> I'd like to see more of Seth as well - She looked neat ^_^ Maybe the end battle could be against her?

Yeah, 10 seconds with Seth isn't much of the expected last boss. Usually, you get to fight the Last Boss before the Last Boss fuses with the Main Evil in games, eh? Your pic showed me how much Ursula and Seth actually looked like eachother, Desperado.

A Sequel set in either the Past or Future of The Promised Lands would be useful. There's so much possible history to make out of it.

Yggdra Union...sounds tempting...

Yeah, she had a great character design, to boot. I would have loved to fight her before Seth-Rah. Still, the end boss looked friggin' amazing, I thought. But for a prequel, I think Seth would make a nice end boss, or a boss in general. They had to seal her somehow, right? Diviner-Smiting her seems like a pretty good way to weaken her for that purpose.

Maybe Ursula and Seth were allies at one point?

You can check out the Japanese site for Yggdra Union here. It's got a fair amount of images on it, and I could send you the other information I have in a PM or something. http://www.sting.co.jp/yggdra/

Please do. It seems interesting.

I'm currently on my 2nd. Playthrough, to come closer to fill the Item Manual and get Lina's Ending this time.

What's your status?

Alright, I'll send it right away.

I'm currently trying to get the Spiral Shell and the Music Sheet, I'm on my second play through as well - I can't decide whether I want to aim for Fia or Cierra's ending, though. I would like to see the Rose endings, but I suppose those are difficult to get >_>;

Send me that info too =D I like Fia's cutscene better than Cierra's.

I don't like fighting beautiful ladies (damn you, hormones or whatever you are >.<), but we would have a more developed Seth and we would see her as what she was supposed to be.

'Unbearable pain' is what describes the fussion, that's one of those detais that would make anyone hate Hector so much... I can't see Seth being a boss, at least not being still a 'baby' that wants power... Heh, that's the funny part about opposites: they usually have got just a color change, in this case, those details are tha skin marks and the pain face (well, pain is always the same, no matter who you are).
A Sequel set in either the Past or Future of The Promised Lands would be useful. There's so much possible history to make out of it.
I can't see it in the future, it would be pretty weak or too different, plus we wouldn't be able to see old characters, for when something serious happens, everybody would surely be dead.

Something makes me think that Ursula and Seth were created after Ragnarok, but that's just me.
Maybe Ursula and Seth were allies at one point?
If they were, I'd be really surprised.
Another thing that I've noticed is that Riviera could be a criticism against religion, especially after reading Ein's sentence, the one in my sig, just change 'Asgard' for 'God'.

Mmk ^_^ I'll send it along in the next PM.

XD Yeah, it's no fun fighting the pretty ones, is it? I guess we're in the same boat as Miroku from Inuyasha.

That's part of the reason I dislike Hector - even though I think he's got a really cool character design, weapon..and..well, everything really XD A good villain - but that's besides the point. He's a dickhead o_O A true, bonafide, Grade A jack-***. He went way too far in his hunt for power.

Perhaps when she was sealed, she was sealed in more ways then one - if her and Ursula are opposites, I find it hard to believe that one has always been much more mature and intelligent, while the other is just a childish power-mongering type.

The future would make a pretty weak storyline, for sure. I'd like to go back to Asgard before Ragnarok happens, and then have Ragnarok occur during the course of the game. It'd probably be best suited for DS RPG with a potential size like that, though they can skip the touch-screen features unless it's for the battle menu as far as I'm concerned. =D

They may have been born after Ragnarok, but Ursula seemed pretty well informed.

Yeah, that is a little far fetched, isn't it? ^_^; I guess them being allies is a little drastic thinking on my part.

It could be considered Religious slander or some such nonsense, but it doesn't bother me any. I'm not religious at all - I'm actually fairly close in terms of point of view with Ein, and if I look quite a bit like him if you look at me like I was in an anime or manga-styled form.

Fooling three Grim Angel and all Asgard, making Malice suicide, killing everyone at Lacrima Catle (can you think of what kind of people can have been killed D:?), killing your 'girlfriend' (that scenes ws lame, they should have done a cutscene for that instead making one for the escape) and stealing the live and the will of a poor girl that was just borned, and he wasn't as mad as other villains of that kind.

[/quote] Seth was like an empty bottle, she needed many Sprite's souls to reborn and experience, or something by the way, to mature. I think that when she was sealed they killed her as much as they could, or she could be just that empty bottle because that was needed to keep Ursula alive.

They can do something similar to Riviera for the future, but it wouldn't be the same, there aren't as many treasures and enemies. DS?, then how do I take screenshots xD?

That wouldn't be strange, the surprise and expected ultimate power that can destroy everything is something that seems to happen a lot.

It's just some meaning to give depth to the game, it's like history put into the game.

The size would make the Titanic look like a micro toy boat. We'll be able to walk across the ocean on it's decks.

Yeah...he did a lot of wrong things. I would have liked to meet more Arcs ;_; Poor Serene.

She was a shell, wasn't she? Poor Seth. I forgot that in order for one to exist, the other had to remain alive as well. Poor Ursula, too! I have to admit, though, she could probably kick some major *** if it weren't for Hector merging with her. To create that freaking awesome Seth-Rah creature.

Yeah, they could do the future, but I think most of the people who played the game would prefer the past. I sure would ^_^ But..You're right o_O How can you get screenshots if it's on the DS? >_< Scratch that. GBA all the way.

True, it is pretty cliche'd. At least it didn't come out of nowhere this time >.>; *Looks at FFIX* Necron came from the most random thought ever.

Wonderful depth it is.

I forgot to send the Yggdra Union info in a PM to you earlier ^_^; So I'll just put it here. *Points down.*

IGN.com:
Developed by the makers of Riviera, Yggdra Union takes place in the centrally-located kingdom of Fantajinia. The princess Yggdra Yuril Altowits flees the castle town of Parteena as the nation's era of peace falls apart, the legendary holy sword Grand Centurio in hand. As the only remaining survivor of the royal lineage, she hopes to free her country from its invaders.

Princess Yggdra is the main character of this story, but in the game, you play as Milano, a young boy who leads a group of bandits and ends up meeting Yggdra early on. Battles with the imperial army make up the brunt of gameplay in Yggdra. The game makes use of cards for all areas of gameplay, from movement on the battle field to attacks and parameter changes for your characters. On each turn, you select a card. Players start off with five types of cards, but eventually end up with 30 before the game's end.

RPGamer.com:

Sting, the development house behind Evolution Worlds for the Nintendo Gamecube and Riviera for the Game Boy Advance, has announced its next project: Yggdra Union, a new strategy RPG for the Game Boy Advance. The game carries a tag line of "We'll never fight alone."

Yggdra Union allows for the movement of multi-character units, similar to those used in the Langrisser and Ogre Battle games, across a grid-based map. When two units meet in battle, the game switches to a close-up view of its sprite-based characters arrayed for combat. Characters will make use of a class system, and the first screenshots show off classes such as Fencer, Sword Maiden, Hunter, and Assassin. Yggdra Union will also incorporate a card system, though it is currently unclear what role these cards will play in the game.

The three main characters of Yggdra Union are:

Yggdra, the Queen of a conquered kingdom: She has inherited the legendary sword which has been passed down from generation to generation in the royal family, and when her kingdom falls under attack, she is the only survivor of its ruling family that manages to escape. Yggdra seeks to restore the freedom of her land.
Milanor, the Thief King: Known as the Silver Wolf, Milanor is the leader of a band of thieves that has been increasing in popularity due to its ideals of justice. Yggdra seeks Milanor's aid in regaining her kingdom's freedom.
Emperor Gulcasa: Gulcasa has only recently ascended to power, having overthrown the previous emperor through a military coup. He has since imposed a dictatorship and instituted a policy of strengthening the military and expanding the empire. His forces conquer Yggdra's land.

Yggdra Union has been announced for a spring 2006 release in Japan, and its official website can be found here. The website currently contains story and character information in Japanese, as well as tons of artwork from the game. No North American release has been announced at this time. RPGamer will continue to report on additional information on this title as it comes to light.

EDIT: If you go to the main Yggdra Union Site, you can download a video that shows gameplay, and NEW characters ^_^ There's seven aside from Yggdra, Milanor, and Gulcasa ^_^ They look to be non-generic characters, so this is getting better and better ^_^. I tried to get images from the video, but it didn't work so well D:

In Riviera gameplay news, I got the Spiral Shell. I think I can get the Music Sheet in the next level, so I'm going to go check on that and make sure I get it. That would leave the item that unlocks the Score thing, but that's not really important to me XD.

But we can hardly walk being so many.

We know what kind of Arcs =D (hmm, Arcs... only one survivor (SP?), and then in Sonic we have ARK where there were just two known survivors...).

Being the destruction, she didn't even need to be bad, she could be another protector of Riviera, the problem is, are there enough menaces to keep Seth alive? I can imagine an entire plot just with that...

Past will allways be better, but a future is possible.

I have GMT +1, so when you post it was already 10:21 AM in Spain =D

EDIT: Woohoohoo!!, I've just seen the video, the music is awesome, and it seems really good (I've just noticed that the undine is smiling). The bad thing is that it doesn't seem to have peaceful scenarios like towns.
Oh, I've taken some screenshots from the video, they're the main characters, most of them are like an upgraded generic character:
Yggdra
Milanor
Gulcasa
Young knight
Wild girl
Old knight
Little hyper undine
Cool archer
Masked boy
White witch

I'm going to hope for evolution to give me wings, then >.> Come on natural selection!

XD Unfortunately, I can't read Japanese, so I don't know what anything says on there if it isn't written in English.

Of course Seth didn't have to be bad, but I can see people using her or suggesting to her that she use her powers for it - given that the real personality in her is what we saw a bit of in Riviera.

Yeah, it does sound like Milanor would just be the first of many to join in Yggdra's cause - even though she apparently joins in the party later, she's still considered the main character. *Arches a brow* That's a new way to do it.

*Holds up Hector so the spit up coffee scalds him. Tosses him aside.* Everybody wins!

I agree with you about..everything in that video. Good music, the graphics look great in motion, etc ^_^ I didn't spot any town settings, either. Then again, they can't show us everything, right? We can buy items this time around, so I would assume that there's towns somewhere that we can purchase from. Hopefully the inventory's larger, too, if we're supposed to have an army.

Thanks for the screens of those new characters ^_^ They did seem like upgrades of the generic classes, but that's good enough for me - they still look good. Were there any names there that you caught? I couldn't spot any that I could read @_@

Those upgrades is what makes them unique. There are some names under the 'now talking...' thing.
The sage in the young knight pic is Maruteimu, the wild girl is Kirie, the old knight Parudousu, the little hyper undine Ni-chie (I think) and the white witch Rosarii (sounds to something related to 'rose', like the one on her chest). Well, I did that without knowing Japanese, so don't trust me too much. *stares at Ni-chie* We have a new Lina ^^

Here's me thanking the power of suggestion. *Goes to find Seth*

Yeah, I'm hoping there won't just be peddlers traveling around. What do you mean by summoned, though? They just seemed to dash into battle, though I wasn't paying that much attention.

Uniqe indeed ^_^ The names seem pretty good to me, even if you did it without knowing Japanese...however you did it o_O; Thanks, though ^_^ That leaves the Archer, the Young Knight, and the Masked one (Who I'm assuming to be an assassin) nameless. No doubt that'll be cleared up soon. And you're probably right XD Ni-chie could very well be the next Lina. I hope she isn't as...*Ahem* Lacking in the brains department, though. *Watches Lina chasing a bunny into a Dragon's cave* .....Oivey.
