The RPG Wish List Thread

One thing I’ve noticed about the RPG section is that a lot of people get some awesome, creative and new ideas for RPGs. So they work really hard to write up huge, elaborate plots with lots of background detail, but then when they finally post the Sign-Ups, nobody’s really all that interested and the RP goes almost unnoticed.

The fact of the matter is, we can’t bring the RPG section back to life if nobody is interesting in any of the RPGs going on. Nobody feels like they want to participate and are bored because none of the RPGs really appeal to them. Then whenever a person joins an RPG they’re not very interesting in, they won’t be motivated to keep posting and try to keep the story moving, so the RPG is left to die because it’s just not all that exciting.


So this is a thread where you come to put out the kinds of RPGs you’re interested in and would like to join. Maybe you just feel like doing something including Pokémorphs, or you want to save the world from the brainwashed Legendaries as an ordinary Pokémon. If you can’t stop thinking about Rescue Teams, say you’d like a Mystery Dungeon RPG, or perhaps you just want to freelance as a Jedi Knight in a far corner of the galaxy. Whatever you want, post it here, and heck, if you have an idea for a plot to go along with it, mention that too.

The idea of this thread is so that GMs can see what kind of Role-Plays the public wants to be a part of at the time, so that they can try to make an RPG that more people will be interested in and will be more willing to join. If GMs have a better idea of what people are looking for instead of guessing blindly or waiting for inspiration to hit, they can create an RP around the things other members want – if some people want to be Team Rocket grunts and others are interested in being homeless Pokémon, maybe a clever GM can combine the two to create an RP that includes both things to interest more people. This way the forum can become more active as people are able to be in RPs that excite them and that they’ll want to keep going.


So whatever kinds of RPs you’ve been craving, post them here so other members can look at them as see if they can create a successful plot to suit your interests!

Well there are quite a few styles of Rpg I'd like to see and heres a short list of them.

Horror: I've have been here for just about over a year now and I have yet to see an Rpg dedicated to this theme. The sort I want to see in particular are gorey with twists and turns that scare even the rpger though, I must admit, even simple ideas such as who done it with werewolves are also fun.

Hybirds/Expirments: I am a big fan of these types of rpgs but the problem is that once they start they tend to die witch is a same as they usually are very fun and exciting though I would like to see some that are deicated to pokemon such as Charmed Bando's Utopia.

Magical Powers/Mythical Creatures/Superheroes: What can I say I'm a sucker for this theme as well, I like the idea's that pop up in these such as spellbinders but usually once your charater gets them the rpg dies.

Vs legends: These rpgs usually are fun but to be honest I don't want to see one were the legendries are brain washed (because it doesn't feel creative) or able to be captured and used (unless its got a fair method of deciding who gets the legend). An idea for this theme would be nature strikes back (see Rpg Ideas bellow)

Franchises: Yeah I like rpgs based on these franchises .Hack, Bleach, Death Note, Doctor Who, Full Metal Alchemist, Pokemon, Sonic, Sprited Away, Super Smash Bros, Wolfs Rain.

Orignal Idea's: I always like it when people show creativity...

Okie dookie my head has been filled with rpg ideas for a while now but alas when it comes to writing them up I have difficulties so I'm posting these ideas here to see if anyone would be intrested in them, want to use them (ask me frist) or even help me make them realities.

The end...: In the not to distant future mankind faces its darkest hour... was it due to chemical warfare? a virus? or even an act of God... no one knows... but there is one thing we are certain of... We have become Infertile. Knowing that there is no hope of a tomorrow society has crumbled as has mankind. Some of us have become little more than animals, attacking whomever and whatever we see... others go about their daily lives waiting for a cure or the inevitable... then there are those who beileve theres still hope, still one woman who can become pregnant but what will happen when this savior appears? Will she be given a heroes welcome, be condemned to death or savaged by those longing to feel that witch they have been deprived of for so long?

Yeah in short this rpg is basically a test to see how people will react when faced with our own extinction, Rpgers will take on the role of ethier protector (those who try to save her), assassin (those who want to kill her for saving them) or theif (those who want the baby for themsevles).

Shamouti Islands: For manys years the isles of thunder, ice and fire have been uninhabitable (by humans) due to extreme weather conditions however that is about to change, a new pokemon has been created Castform with the powers to change the weather, now at long last these islands are inhabitable and builders set about work, ingoring the warnings from the loicals that the deities sky roost there, they couldn't possibly be real... could they? Sadily it turns out that the locails were just blowing off steam as Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres all flee from their homes, they met up and bicker for awhile about for was reasonable for this before deciding that they should drive the humans from there homes as they did to them and the land they choose was the one with the greatest affiliation to them... Hoenn.

Yeah I can't remeber what forum I saw a similar rpg on but I felt sad when it died so i decide to make this one, a simple vs legends rpg though I'm having difficulties with the plot, help would be appreciated.

Well it maybe because I'm strange/different but I can easily get interested in any RPG of any type as long as I'm able to understand all of things that's is going on. But I seem to join mostly the same this as Skeith not including some of the ones in Franchises. I never been in a vs legends RPG before and people just don't make Horrors and the one I've been in quickly dies to. But the only thing that really makes me interested in a RPG is creativity. I loves things that are creative more than anything else.

I was really looking forward to Spellbinder but then it never started and I was a bit sad inside...

I like this but I'm not sure why the only child-bearer is so important. If everyone else is sterile that means that even if the baby grew up there would still be no hope for mankind... Or maybe people are hoping to use the sterile mother and baby to make the rest a mankind like that. But I do think it is interesting. *Tries to steal idea for self but failed because of lack of permission* Nah, just kidding I don't want to use your idea but it you want some creative touches feel free to ask me.

I don't know what I would do, I mean I can't take a legendary pokemon. *Starts a protest to get the people off the islands, a boulder comes flying towards head* I guess that's not going to work lol.

They became corrupted and they didn't stop at destroying humans cities and towns, they began to torment the pokemon that once protected. I have the whole storyline and plot in my head, I just have to put it into words.

Well it is a summary and I must admit it is a bit vauge but the general gist of it is what would happen if mankind was doomed and then hope (most likely false) came along. Would we accept it or would we spare ourselves the chance to be let down again? Throughout the rpg (if i do create it) veiws and idea's such as yours (particalluarally the ones in bold) will be a key element and the truth is I never plan to reveal if the mother is indeed fully fertile or got pregant purely because of luck (same with the baby). The rpg itself will be a lot more detailed and contain alot of action but will basically be a test of faith and how far the charater you create will go on belieaf alone. Its nice to see some interest in it though and if I do get round to creating it you can be sure I'll be eager to hear those creative ideas from you (and you little world XD)

Well the original was just humans so I'd make this one just humans too (its also partly because I feel if I made humans and monsters usable it may turn out into a clone of masterwannabe's rpg) but ye basically its an eye for an eye plot (you take our homes we'll take yours) witch was kinda ment to be a mother nature fights back sort of idea. Anyway there was one thing I didn't to mention (but you'll see why I did) you can capture legendry pokemon in this rpg*hears cheers* its just... the elite four/pokemon league/world power will take them away *ducks from rotten fruit and veg as booos are shouted* My reasoning for this is these pokemon are essentally the same as nucluar weapions (powerful enough to bring a country to its knees) and if someone was to get one they would surely pose a threat to the world

Anyway since I'm posting I'm going to post the gist of a few of my other ideas and see if people like the theme.

Wars of Kamigawa: An magical powers rpg where the living wage war against the spirts of the departed (that can be anything from People to tree leaves to fallen cities) who have begun to manifest (take flesh forms, these can be as creative as you yourself are) on the plane of th living for reasons unknown.

This will use Japanese themes and I have a plot in my head for it.

Dreamscape: A new technology has been invented that allows people to enter the dreams of others, praised as a break through for therapy there has become a more sinsiter use for it... terrorism. Terrorists have begun to manipulate the actions of others via there dreams and only a select few stand in there way[/url]

This rpg is based off the movie Paprika, will take place mostly in dreams and will present the rpger with a lot of freedom and chances to be creative however there will be some rules involed. Plot working on.

Actually there is a reason why the legendary became evil(It hadn't got put down into words but I put a whole lot of thought into it), it's just a in-game secret that I hope people will be force to move forward through the game. Actually in the world that we are in, it a different dimension of the normal pokemon world(made this RPG a LONG time ago). You play as pokemon with a abnormal ability(For example: Pooka, the Pikachu ability to sense waves or like the Sandshrew that endure extremely large amount of water) though I don't want an extreme powers like can't all together be hurt by an attack that their weakness.

As for you RPG, I like them because one says 'be creative as you yourself are' And if there one thing I love is being creative. I love magic RPG and this one just reaches out to me. The other one is interesting too *puts warning signs on my dreams* There are some places it best not to enter. That one sound like fun right there it reminds me of some of my ideas about dreams but to a smaller degree.

Question: What do people think about RPG where the GM isn't in the game but controls everything that happen compare to one where the GM is in the RPG and has a little less power?

I'm thinking about making a RPG where I'm just kind of narrating what going on and I bring most of all the things that happen into the RPG. I wonder if anyone would be interested in an idea like that.

The brainwashed Legendary RPG sounds fun, I'm just wanting a Pokemon RPG I'll be interest in. One I do miss is Night Avenger's Pokemon Superhero one, that was alot of fun.

well...what i would really like is an RPG based on pokemon battling like a tournament in which behind the scenes there is an evil plot going on which we'll have to discover and stop without getting found out; but at the same time, we're also parcipitating in a battling tournament which escilates as the best stay and lesser characters lose. what i would also like is if the batlting style also gets more ruthless and...bloody? like the battles suddenly become a battle to the death as the tournament becomes more competitive as the contestants become fewer and fewer.

well, i don't really know as i don't have a plot. tbh, i just want to RP as a character in a ruthless battle in which anything can happen and NPC can be sneaky and cruel and you'll have to use every inch of your creativity in the battle. maybe we need a battling version of that contest appealing thread which we had before in the RPG section which was started by Harleyscarow?...

You can do an RPG like this whenever you want: many GMs prefer to do this rather than being a character, while others feel comfortable playing a character and controlling the environment, which is really what they should be doing in the first place, but meh. :|

If you're going to get into individual RPs, you best take it to PM or start your own thread about it: if you an RPG idea you're allowed to create a new thread here asking for help, advice and general opinions on it. Or use the thread where it's best suited.

Also, I want some opinions on this:

I have two RPG ideas where you Role-Play a Pokémon. In one, all the Pokémon must be one of the twelve starter Pokémon, and in the other you can be any Shiny Pokémon. Both have a sort of common theme and both include obstacles individual RPers must overcome.

So which would you guys prefer to play as: a starter or a Shiny?

I actually have an RPG idea where there's a Pokémon battle tournament on an island, however there is a much greater plot above that one: the tournament plays a large role in it, though. When you mentioned that you'd like to see fierce battles, that gave me a perfect idea for a sort of sub-plot of sorts - it actually would work out quite well.

...me wanna be in that tournament RPG. NOW. *thinks of awesome battle scenes*. seriously though, there aren't enough pokemon RPG where there are a decent amout of battling. and i think realistic battling where pokemon can have DEVISTATING attacks ie, explosion could blow up most of a stadium or icicle spear could stab a pokemon *imagines* would just be plain awesome.

however, that idea is VEEEEEEEEEEEERY similar to Jaystars battle island...

I'd say a starter, despite shinies being so....shiny. I think for me it's funner when I RP as a regular colored Pokemon. A Shiny Pokemon RPG would be fun too though.

I actually want a Bleach RPG up soon. There are two I know of that are under-development; one by Patrick (aka dragonic_man) called El Rio de la Muerte, and an "old" one first spawned by PokemonBreederChris and ~Hyuu, currently being revamped.

EDIT: OK, masterwannabe answered my wish. Yu-Gi-Oh! RP's haven't been done for a while, and I know Scar's was the most successful. Something of that caliber would be most welcome.

Not to toot my own horn, but I've got a pretty good Digimon RP (IMO) getting started at the signups. It's called Digital Guardians: Ragnarok Virus. If you're interested, check it out.

Anyway. I think for the "legends attack" thing, a believable plot is that the legendary pokemon finally get fed-up with mankind trying to catch/clone them and they decide to "take over the world" so to speak. The players could take the role of trainers from the past selected by the legendary pokemon that don't share that sentiment (Celebi in particular) and are brought to the future to free the human world.

Or something along those lines.

Starter! Much more amusing, as someone said before, and easier, in my opinion. With Shinies you have to go into all of the hubbub of being 'special', chased, isolated from your own kinds, ectra. I personally love reading/writing stories about someone's ordinary (to them) life in a not so ordinary world - it interests me. x3

for some odd reason, i have a really big urge to RP in an Avatar, the last airbender RPG, or possibly an RPG set in that world with air, water, earth and fire bending *thinks* it would be interesting...i might write one myself if i can find the time, what do you guys think?

or simply a pokemon trainer RPG. there seems to be a lil lack in them. maybe a pokemon battle island again?
