I don't see why a shiny starter SR for in Emerald should be considered any different to a shiny starter caught in any other game (if you then go on to SR for other Pokemon in Emerald, and count then all as seperate shinies, when in-fact they're all produced on the same shiny frame and thus, are RNG clones, then that's a bit different)

If anything, shiny Emerald starters should be more valuable because they're so hard to get. RNG clones, though, I don't care for. Good luck on Ice Path, you're way up there on encounters and I hope you don't get another Golbat.

Congratulations Abenzio on Cresselia, a very cool shiny and it's awesome to get it so quickly after starting for the day! Also congrats to Redostrike on the Torchic! Congratulations on the Registeel too, that's an awesome one!

I found a shiny last night myself. I'm not going to post about it until tomorrow though. I will say that it's a Route 116 shiny, and I found it totally by accident.

ChaoticInverse, no the Jirachi can't be shiny. Too bad, really.

Ugh I am appalled by all this Shiny frame talk.
I seriously do not get why people even get excited over RNG shinies. Might as well AR them, as you are basically cheating for them. Enjoy your false bliss.

How are we cheating for them? We're not going into the game and altering non-shiny frames to be shiny. And you don't even know the work that goes into RNG-ing shinies anyway. You'd have to time your SRs perfectly and you still might not get a shiny that time.

Plus, first you'd have to GET a shiny on that file to know your SID.

A lot of work goes into getting RNG shinies, and time. It's just as much as hunting or SRing or breeding.

With cheating you get them in an instant.

But if that's how you feel, that's how you feel. I'm just throwing my thoughts out there.

Anyway, I kinda sped my way through my Japanese SS (Still don't have any Kanto badges) and am currently prepared to SR for shiny Latias. It's a shiny I've been adoring for a long time and I want to see one appear on my screen.

A lot of work goes into getting RNG shinies, and time. It's just as much as hunting or SRing or breeding.

I wouldn't exactly say it takes as much as breeding, but, it definitely takes a lot of concentration and timing. And even if you do hit right, there are still lots of factors that can mess you up. Plus, it's currently really the only possible sane way to get shiny mew and shiny manaphy.

Also, just as a tip to people SRing on emerald, I would suggest, after doing the 30 or so normal speed SRs, doing a few ones in which you wait an extra five to ten seconds before selecting your starter. In between getting mudkip #1 and mudkip #2, I offered to try RNGing a shiny mudkip for my good pal Profile (I like to give gifts), checking the SID on each file to see how often it hit low, and I noticed quite a few IDs had shiny frames that were between 15 and 20 seconds. Early, but still out of reach of the standard SR time I'd think. So...knowing that, I'd think it might be worth a shot to try a few of the 5-10second lag SRs on each ID. It may not help at all, but, it probably wouldn't hurt, yeah?

Aaand...one last thing, because I feel like killing dreams. You all know those special shiny beast pokedolls that are being given out in japan right now, yeah? I'm sure a few of you even thought of importing em. I know I did. Weeell... On yahoo japan, there's currently a set of three that's going for 98500 yen, which I'm pretty sure is ABOUT $1000 USD. Crazy, ain't it?

A few days ago I got Regice. Two days ago Registeel. Today...

You guessed it! Regirock shone!

Just like with Registeel, I was doing something else, looked down at the screen, and got a nice shock!

I paralyzed it, switched in a False Swiper, Swiped down to 1 HP, and threw about 25 Repeat Balls. It just wouldn't stay in. I was afraid of KO'ing it to Struggle, so I used a Master Ball.

Lonely nature, stats 117/100/153/52/91/55. Average, with a nature that lowers its strongest stat.

But it's my second completed Shiny Trio, after Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza. And in less than two weeks! Heck, it took me 4 MONTHS for the first Kyogre... Now I really want Torchic and Articuno!

A) Where did you get it? If you got it through the GTS, it might NOT be legit because the Classic Ribbon prevents online trade of that Pokemon. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ribbon#Event_Ribbons

B) Does the trainer's name and ID match this? http://www.serebii.net/events/dex/244.shtml

Shiny Clamperl finally hatched on my Jap HG after 960 eggs!
I've been blessed lately.^^

Clamperl is my older MM hunt than Mudkip, I was rather skeptical since I often switched off my DS too soon. Not after I got shiny Mudkip I decided to leave my DS on to hunt for it. Turns out, the shiny egg was there all this time since June 22, I just got the chance to hatch it on 29.
So basically the chance to get a shiny from MM is not much different if you wanna switch off the DS/not.

I'm gonna evolve it into Huntail for sure. For me it has a better shiny form & look. I already know what moves I'm gonna teach it.^^
Gorybess is a better pokemon competitively, though.

I've transfered it to my US SS, it has impish nature. Not sure if it's good/so so/bad.

My next MM target is.... Charmander I'd like to get one too like everyone else, since it's like one of the most popular pokemon, whether it's shiny/not.
But not after I clean up/hatch all the eggs left, there like 5 more boxes.
Man, thats what I hate from MM. I still have like 8 boxes of my first MM pokemon Yanma. I can clear up all Chinchou eggs, but can't finish like 4 boxes of Horsea eggs (all in Platinum), & there are still 4 boxes of Mudkip eggs in US SS. So I'm lazy here.

Hey guys,

Well, I've had a bit of a mood swing after Poochyena. Well, not really a mood swing, but I just needed some time away from Ruby version. Well, after some Battle Arcade with a friend, starting my new FireRed version, EV training some Pokemon, playing some Silent Hill as well as watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, and watching my defeat of encountering shiny Poochyena on YouTube, I have rebuilt some motivation and have decided to go after shiny Mudkip again. After that experience, I don't want to have that shiny Poochyena mocking me, so now I do plan to eventually see a purple Mudkip of my ownership.

Congrats to Abenzio's Cresselia, DarkDragon's Regi trio, Cutty Flam's Clampearl, Storm Dragoon's Spheal (saw the video on YouTube) and any other shinies I missed!

Also, quick question: When you're doing a random encounter hunt, do you count all of the random encounters with the Pokemon you're looking for, or every encounter with every Pokemon, even if you don't want its shiny form?

Anyway, wish me luck on Mudkip guys. I could really use it after that Poochyena. Yes, I know people have actually encountered several before getting their starter before, but I really want to get to Groudon (if I do decide to SR for him), Latias and Rayquaza.

Most people count every encounter with every Pokemon. That way you know exactly how many Pokemon you've seen and it gives people a good idea of how much effort you've put into the hunt. Good luck on getting Mudkip, it'd really suck to get another uncatchable. I found a shiny Poochyena and sorta gave up on Mudkip for a while. Then I started hunting for it again and got another shiny Poochyena... I'm gonna have to restart my Sapphire sometime in the future and go for it again. I might also do a Route 102 hunt to try to get a catchable shiny Poochyena.

I used to just count the Pokemon I was hunting for; but I then decided to count every encounter, since I like to know the exact number of encounters it takes before a shiny appears.

Congrats on the shiny Regirock, DD. You found the trio pretty quickly - are you going to SR for shiny Regigigas as well? And Cutty Flam, yet another shiny for you, and it's a really pretty one, too. Congrats. ^-^

I'm still hunting in the Ice Path. Currently at 22,170 encounters.


And as it's almost July, here are my current totals in the shiny Johto Tour:

1: Shiny Golbat - 4th June - Soul Silver
2: Shiny Kakuna - 12th June - Heart Gold

So I've caught three in the tour so far; even if two are the same kind, and none of them are Johto Pokemon...

meh I was mostly talking about emerald RNG shinies as those are really easy to get once you have a shiny starter. I still don't approve of 4th gen RNG shinies though, because after the fact of the hard work you are guaranteed a shiny. Traditional methods never guarantee anything, eg. Stupid Kyogre never shining ever on my sapphire (2 years of hunting on and off). But at least you are open about getting them this way, and I can appreciate the calculations that must go into 4th gen RNGing.

Ehh anyways I seems to be in the absolute minority of hunters. For one I only hunt 1/8192. I don't even like the, what is it, 1/2000 hatching method shinies. Nor do I bother keeping count of anything. At all. I see you tube vids and nearly everyone has a pen and paper or Calc with their encounters recorded. I don't bother with that. Oh I could estimate the number of hours and encounters per min, so as to get a rough number. But never an exact thing.

No real reason, other than maybe It takes aways a bit of time that I could hit an extra SR here and there.

No luck with SS starters or Kyogre obviously....damn Sudowoodo will be my lone June shiny

I didn't answer the questions from a while back so here they are.

Do you have any little quirks/patterns with your shiny collection?
I've got my bird collection, but outside of that, I don't have any patterns/quirks- I did go through my bird collection a while back and nickname everything but most of my other shinies are the default name. I do tend to like pink/golden shinies but haven't made it a goal to get them all (birds were enough).

Who feels the same, and who feels differently? If different, why/how?
While I always get a rush of excitement when I find a shiny (be it random, SR, chain, hatch), for me, it's always best when it's a Pokemon I'm actually hunting. While finding my Ponyta or catching those Wurmple was fun, they don't stand up to finding Ho-oh, hatching Taillow or even catching my chained Murkrow. It's also why I don't automatically SR for everything that's available ingame- nice to get a shiny, better to be something I genuinely like (that and weighing up the time aspect it'll take to get the shiny).

What pokemon do you think benefit in appearance from being shiny
Anything that's very different from the normal colour. As I mentioned above, I do tend to like pink/gold ones as well.

What pokemon do think do not benefit from being shiny
Things that barely change (although some, such as Umbreon, I do like). And while I also don't mind shinies that are black, I do get irritated by the general assumption that black automatically makes them awesome.

What pokemon do you think look equally good in shiny and non shiny?
Honestly? I think most of them look good either way. Some shinies such as Espeon are a nice colour, but so bright that it looks like a little out of place so my preference for shiny/non-shiny changes depending on how I feel.

Any pokemon that looked great as a shiny, it evolved and then... wait it doesn't look as good or it doesn't look shiny anymore
Charizard. Love the gold of the first two, then bam, complete colour shift (the ugly as sin 4th gen. sprites don't help either). Again, anything that barely changes colour slots in here.

I've never bothered actually counting my SR's either. I tend to estimate based on how many times I have to charge my DS/SP and for Kyogre I'm basing it off my SS game time as I play simultaneously, but that's it.

I ran out of steam, hunting wise after doing around 10 hours in three days at the end of last week. That and I'm back in work now, and have started playing Subeta again, which eats up more of me free time. But I've done a bit and am now just past 24 hours resetting for Kyogre. I'm going to do some vending on Subeta tonight and I'll reset while I do so, but I'm not going to be keeping track. So from tonight, my reset time is going to be less than it really is, but ehh, I'm not bothered.

Oh yeah, and seeing people just hunting on a certain route is getting to me. I haven't touched my Ruby since getting Torchic (still need to Pal park him, actually) and once I do, I'm thinking I might run through the game and go to the grass patch on Route 115. Five Pokemon, four of which are birds, and the one that isn't has a 10% encounter rate? I like those odds. I don't care that I've already got the birds shiny, I'm always up for extras and if Jigglypuff shines, well, new shiny for me! I'm also planning on finally getting an Emerald file with an early shiny frame. These will have to wait until after Kyogre, at least, though.

I don’t really see any pattern with my shinies except that sometimes I get the same type like 5 water type shinies and then 4 grass type shinies.

Any pokemon that looked great as a shiny, it evolved and then... wait it doesn't look as good or it doesn't look shiny anymore

Personally I don’t really like shiny Exploud or shiny Loudred. That’s why I don’t have plans of evolving my shiny Whismur.

No shiny news with me. In Heart Gold I’ve started Sring for Suicune. I haven’t done a lot of SRs yet, I’ve only done 173. I haven’t done many SRs for my other Targets lately either. I'm hoping to change that though. Good luck everyone.

No shiny news from me. I've just been trying to obtain as many Jirachi as possible.

Who has had an encounter with a RE shiny only to have it blow up/roar/whirlwind you away into an uncontrollable rage?
I was playing through Platinum on Iron Island, not even hunting when a shiny Graveler appeared and blew up. I was dissapointed, but not mad. I have not reclaimed that shiny yet.

Hello everyone. First off congrats on the insane amount of shinies that everyone has found, I wish I could be as lucky (Abenzio and Storm). Secondly, I am now back from camp. Which means I only have a week and a half or so before marching band season officially picks up and my summer, as well as shiny hunting, ends.

I'm still dual resetting for rotom in Diamond, at 56,000 resets, and platinum, at 3,500 resets. I am now also resetting for ho-oh in my soulsilver version, hoping that it doesn't take as long as lugia.

I'm am desperately hoping that I can these targets within the next week so I can rest assured during my many months long break. Wish me luck, and good luck to all!

Well i wanted to end the month with a 10th shiny but i think my luck has run out. I've mostly hatched some poliwag egss today. I'm up to 17 hatched boxes (and filled al the boxes in my pearl game getting me up to 510 hatced eggs) and i'm putting them into my pokéranch as i type. Nothing came out if it off course. Then i continued my route 102 hunt hoping that my 10th shiny of the month showed up there. Hence i saw the hours tick away and past 00:00. No 10th shiny for me this month. Oh well i cant complain as it's been awesome i'm at 5200 encounters atm. And i might deserve a long hunt this time. I'm prolly be doing some route 102 hunting tomorrow. I'm going to bed when i transfred all of my poliwags and then i prolly do some more srings for eevee before i get some rest.

I don't think I've posted here since I got my shiny Lugia.....I don't know why....I check here every day xD anyways, congrats to everyone for their shinies(there have been sooooo many lately ) I'm in Japan again for the summer, so I already got my movie tickets, suicune and raikou(I know they aren't "real" shinies, but they are events ) and also bought a Japanese HeartGold(I have SoulSilver in English). Right now, I'm sring for a shiny starter, just started last night, but I should hopefully get one soon.

Well, I've decided to restart Heart Gold, as I want to SR for shiny Raikou/Entei at some point (and I'd already released them on my current file). As well as SR'ing for a shiny Sudowoodo.

I'm now looking for an interesting ID number. I may spend a little while looking for another shiny starter, too...
