The Shippers Review of 2009

About a week late but never mind. *shrug*

So you shippers, how was your 2009? Did you fall for any new ships with burning intensity? Have ships that you once adored now been shunned? Did you ship in just Pokemon or in others? Or have you not changed much at all?

Me? Well...

1) Another year, ANOTHER Dawn OTP. 2007 was InfraRedshipping, 2008 was SapphirePearlshipping. Now thanks to The Rise of Darkrai giving me that final push I am a total cigarette for TotalEclipseshipping. What can I say, the girl's so damn easy to pair off.

2) GRECIANSHIPPING. asdfghjkl; *foams at the mouth or something IDK* How can four people be so damn shippable in every combination and especially together? Damn those stupid sexy Rocket Executives, you've really given me fuel for my HGSS fire. My OT4 forever more and if you don't ship it you fail. If you don't like them you fail harder. Sorry bubs but the truth hurts. 8|a

3) I found myself shipping more het; Strategistshipping, Grecianshipping, Conflictingshipping, Maxfactorshipping, AquaticGardenshipping in small doses and in Kingdom Hearts Larxroku and Akuxion. Mind you I shipped a lot of yuri too as usual; Kansasshipping, Casinoshipping, Bifrostshipping, Onsenshipping.

4) Friendshipping. There's been a ton of that from me when normally it's just the one friendship there and there... but yeah. SkyGardenshipping and both het combos in it, Zoroastershipping, Stockingsshipping, Godisnowhereshipping, Mossshipping... and Akuroku right at the end of the year. Blame RP for most of the Pokemon ones hur hur hur. 8)

5) Nynaeveshipping. Still the overall OTP and loved even more so than last year. That will never die. :>

6) Senirasushipping. While i'm still elitist over this baby I guess i'm calming down a little. I can ship Candice with a couple of others at least. 8|a

Jovianshipping and Betelgeuseshipping are still my best thugs, they are the greatest!!
I thugged it up with my guhs as we celebrated Betelgeuse becoming canon for like the third time in a 'verse.
That might have been the highlight of the year I think.

Also: HGSS provided another companion to the duo of Jovian/Betelgeuse.. parentship Clonegeuse involving Mars' parents.
Clonegeuse for the uninitiated is Athena on Apollo in that order. It is the epitome of success because it is MILF on younger/older/same age/white meat/dog meat/IT DON'T EVEN MATTER male. Yes Athena is a hot MILF and Apollo.. well.. no explanation needed for him ;}
Not to mention they look like extremely basic, simple edits of Mars and Cyrus so it works.
That is my only real new ship of the year 8U only one that matters tbcomodh it is truly "THE SEX".

I still ship het like nothing else exists (might as well not to me at least) o)!!!

I felt as though the two Awards run in 2009, at least I think the first Awards I did was in like spring 2009 or something, could have done better but that really wasn't my own doing so I'll strive to host the next Awards in fall 2010 and rock on.

I apologize in advance for the fact that most of mine aren’t Pokemon related ^^;. Oh well, let’s see…

1. Well, a year ago I joined this board and started posting in the Shipping forum. Tentatively at first, but then moreso. I think being part of a community like this has done a lot for my own shippings, forging interests into lifelong obsessions, you might say.

2. My activity here caused a resurgence in my fondness for Pokeshipping and Rocketshipping, both of which I always liked, but hadn’t thought about much in recent years.

3. Returned to fandom writing this last year after… I’m gonna say like 7-8 years, specifically shippy fanfiction.

4. I went from saying “I go back and forth” on Xellos/Filia to shipping it hardcore. If it wasn’t for Zelgadis/Amelia it would be my OTP, and it’s certainly taking up a lot of my time.

5. Finally copped to loving Artemis/Holly from Artemis Fowl after years of hemming and hawing.

6. Most recently I’ve started to get into Thiefshipping due to watching Yugioh: The Abridged Series.

Let's see now. 2009 rekindled love for old Johto ships. Chikoshipping. I have much love for grass starters, if only Ash felt as strongly as I do. Biteshipping is also charming in a dysfunctional way and I still believe Johto anime lost appeal after Snubbull evolved. Also found great new potential for Johto game based ones. Purely on looks I found Stockingshipping the cutest yuri thing ever, and NEVER expected anything canonical to come of it (aside from Red and Blue cameo heroes of past gens don't meet up ingame and there's no word yet whether Kotone/Soul/whachamallcallit will be Special). Then the anime surprise us all w/ Kotone and Dawn meeting at Johto Festa!
Rise Of Darkrai claimed a spot as #2 in my Fave Anime Movie List so of course I got two serious shipping out of it. Quiescent (Alicia & Darkrai) and Accord (Tonio & Alice). For crack pairing tho, I like Tonio & the Baron which ttly needs a cute name but I can't think of a suitable one.
I participated in a shipping challenge for the first time last year. I don't think it's been linked to the Secret Santa thread yet but soon y'all can experience my art talents. Don't stare at it too long, you may go blind
To me the lowest shipping point was finding the cute blue-hair Rocket Execs is named Lance. That is gonna be so confusing w/ Champion Lance. Another Flint (Brock's dad) and E4 Flint type-deal. I just don't like it when the English names get reused on diff charas b/c then forumers may not know who you mean. x__x
There's probly more that can be said of my 2009 ships but right now I'm blanking on it. All in all it was a nice year.

Nothing's changed in 2009 and it probably still won't in 2010 but who knows.
My love for Pokeshipping is as intense as ever and I am PUMPED for a jam-packed year of Pokeshipping and Misty-cameos. Nope, we're not giving up >:]
As for others, I'm still a supporter of Contest, Mangapoke, Hoenn, and Ikarii (my crackship that feels aweful lot like NOT a crackship lol).
I'm pretty pumped for a year where hopefully they let us know that May/Drew hooked up, that Dawn is sexually drawn to a closed up guy named Paul and Misty's cameo will send Ash head over heels for herrrr <3

For crack pairing tho, I like Tonio & the Baron which ttly needs a cute name but I can't think of a suitable one.

It already has a name my dear, it's Ravishshipping.

To me the lowest shipping point was finding the cute blue-hair Rocket Execs is named Lance.

Which is why it's a dead cert that his name will be changed come the dub, to possibly something along the lines of Delta or Reims. With champion!Lance being such a key character in HGSS and all. Also the same name doesn't seem to matter as much cross-canon (( Like animeverse and gameverse a la the two Flints )), it's when it's the same canon that things get changed. Especially considering that both Lances will be in the same game. There's possibly also a bunch of other factors that i'm missing out.

Well, I'll have to say that this was an eventful year for me hear in this section, finally risking life and limb to come in here. There were a couple things that stood out for me.

1. Pokemon x Pokemon Shipping. I never would've thought that I would've gotten to this point, where I was analyzing relationships between two Pokemon. And yet, here I am, having posted a one-shot in the Shipping area based on the PMD games and a popular fic over in the Fan Fiction section centered around a relationship. Given that my notebook is full of many ideas, including a new full-length PMD fic and a few one-shots, you can be sure that there will be more to come.

2. I've begun to look at shippings in the anime. I've long been a fan of May, but only in the past year did I give in to being an AdvanceShipper. Another pairing that I've found myself growing fond of is MorpheusShipping. It seems like it would be a great pairing. And going along with #1 on the list is LagomorphShipping. It's just a cute pairing.

Although I haven't been as active around here, I've certainly found myself engaged by this area. Here's hoping I'll make more of a splash this year.

Oh lol where do I even begin? Uh... let's talk OTPs. Or something. See where I go from there.

At the start of 2009, I had already recently discovered Bishieshipping, the pairing of Gen/Riley x Shinji/Paul and I thought that the concept between the two was great, in terms of fanfic writing and general imagination of canon interaction. It was one of the few nevermet ships that had me hooked and while I knew it was nevermet, that didn't stop me spazzing about the pairing. It was interesting and I got into yaoi from there. And finally decided once and for all that yanno, supporting yaoi is actually fun. Because in a lot of anime, I found that the guys tend to have so much more personality and fun about them and so their interactions with each other provided for more lulz than the classic het which got too predictable for me.

Because het got pretty damn predictable, it got boring for me over the timespan of 2009 and so I began to lose interest in some het ships that I used to spaz over. I used to be a real nerd for Ikarishipping and now Shinji gets plonked with Gen and Hikari gets plonked with usually Denji in my mind. So that's definitely changed.

Also the Pokemon anime hasn't been expanding its horizons with DP shipping and so while it was easy to support many Hikari ships, it got really hard to remain attached to such pairings because they weren't going anywhere in the anime. So I ended up going for more crack-ish pairings where I didn't feel a need to be so dependent on the hints in canon because well, there was hardly anything.

So while I got more into more alternative shippings for Pokemon, I began to expand my fandoms a little more which was then I finally came across Yu-Gi-Oh. And the ship I got hit and hit really hard, like I swear the ship attacked me with a bulldozer or something rofl was Thiefshipping. The pairing of Marik Ishtar x Yami Bakura. It's yaoi that actually has basis. They look damn good together and Bakura has this thing of working alone and so Marik's the only one he's really teamed up with. I'd ramble more but I would turn this into a Thiefshipping ramble. Anyway, I got into lots of YGO ships and found that Thiefshipping became my OTP of OTPs, it has more love than even Bishieshipping and I'm sure you all know my love for that ship, haha. So yeah, I got into other fandoms.

While discovering this Thiefshipping squee, I came up with fic ideas for the fandom and found that it's successfully recovered my love for writing. I found myself getting a bit tired of the SPPF Shipping Fic community tbh and I felt less motivated by the Pokemon fandom to write Pokemon so my fics are pretty much dead over there so I did want to find a way to get into writing again. I do love writing in general after all. So finding Thiefshipping was good because it meant I found something to write about again. I'm not really interested in writing original stuff yet so I knew I had to find something to get my writing spirit back, haha. I ended up starting a fanfic in July last year and by the end of the year, I had around 22 chapters done. I am totally proud and hope to complete some fanfics this year because I'm not good at completing what I start and I really want that to change. XDD

So uh, tl;dr version: I got into Bishieshipping, yaoi, Thiefshipping took over my shipping life, have been inspired to write shipping fics again. All in all, good year for YGO shipping and fanfics but not so good year for Pokemon shipping methinks.

twoOHOHnine, what a random year it was. I've supported quite a few new shippings, though I tended to drift away from shipping a bit, since I just wasn't all that interested, like I used to be CONTESTSHIPPING..

I was actually kind of dead from sppf in 2008, iirc. I picked up a copy of Platinum and played it, got totally into Team Galactic, and was shocked I never really cared for them back in D/P. So I got into quite a few TG shippings ..Conjunction (Saturn/Mars) being my favorite. It's adorable and ...amazing. :3 Gingashipping (Cyrus/Saturn) cause it's hot. Sinfulshipping (Jupiter/Mars) cause it's yuri.
Mars actually became another shipping whore to me, where I pair the poor character up with practically every single person. So yeah, basically every ship with Mars involved, I like. Including KitKatshipping (Mars/May) which I named, because they're my two favorite characters, and FFFFFFFF, it should be named after me, cause ;3 The Japanese fanartists also helped my interest grow, from their shipping art (especially Conjunction).

And then HGSS..... Kotone came. She became another shipping whore. RedSpringPlanetshipping (lol I can't even remember if that's the actual name, but O: )
Kotoneeeeeee. I got interested in Silver/Kotone from all the fanart the Japanese fans draw. Whitney/Kotone, thanks to Vycksta, haha.

Also I'll give some thanks for Vycksta, for those Stupid Sexy Rocket Executives and their bunches of shippings.

I don't even know. I just continued to support many shippings. I'm pretty open and up to most ships, just because I prefer to have fun with ships, rather than be angry, hahaha.

So I guess I continued to ship, and will continue, even if I lose interest. It's still always a hobby of mine.

Hm well 2009 was adding more crack ships to my list of ships to support. XD I was pretty inactive in many threads and activities last year but I'll do my best this year~ Respectshipping is still my OTP and Comashipping follows behind~!

As for shippings, my support for Contestshipping unfortunately continues dropping. Guess I really need one hell of a motivation to keep up in this ship.

HGSS brought back my support for PreciousMetalshipping and Matsuba/Hayato. Not to mention I can't say no to new Rocket executive shippings. But I blame Vycksta for these guys no matter what. I don't have a favorite ship for these guys yet since I think they would look well with each other. Athena/Apollo, Lamba/Lance, Lance/Apollo, Athena/Lambda, etcetc~ I blame Kit Kat for Athena/Mars though and adding Silver didn't make things better. XD I've had some odd encounters with Giovanni/Silver but this is still an interesting pair. ;P

I do need to narrow my shipping list down since there's many ships I don't have much devotion to support it anymore. D: Mostly yuri ships. Appealshipping is one but Nozomi/Suzuna is a new shipping I may add since it's somewhat canon.

2010, don't let the shipping love die! XD;

I'm sorta into the Spike/Faye thing from Cowboy:Bebop, though I don't know the official name nor have the energy to start writing for them.

I have a new found respect for Pearlshipping since I've delved into the new episodes. It's still difficult to stomach the new voices but seeing the similarities between Ash and Dawn are nice.

No cameo for Misty in 2009, however 2010 may hold some promise.

Whoops wrong opening for this thread. Okay, for shipping, there were only a few ships in Pokemon that I got into heavily. Lack of certain characters or in my case "character" made it rather difficult for me.

Barry x Paul: a.k.a. ColdCoffeeshipping. This was a ship I was heavily into for the year (despite certain friends of mine swaying me towards Bishieshipping). Every time a Barry episode would be on I would pray that he would go all Paul-lovey-dovey. Too much? Well 2010 looks very promising in many ways.

Will x Thorton: a.k.a. Eruditeshipping. I blame taitofan. Okay, I'm part to blame too. When HGSS came out and Will returned with his hip hugging outfit, all that came to mind was Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji. Then she decided to ship Thorton with it. It grew on me. Because it reminded me so much of Sebastian and Ciel. It's only a matter of time before I start writing Eruditeshipping material.

Dawn x Zoey x Candice: a.k.a. Glanceshipping. I will indeed add a Polyshipping. It's been a quiet year. Snowpointshipping too. I feel very happy at the idea of Zoey x Candice. The episodes with Candice and Zoey (I mean Miss Senior and Zo Zo *aggravated groan* were heavily shippy in my eyes. Though it does put a damper on my whole outlook on Appealshipping. But gotta go with what's hot, but still keep your OTP on the back-burner.

So yeah. Those were the only three I felt like shedding light on. They were the ones I really liked this past year.

Well, nothing in Pokémon has changed. I still fawn over the same pairings and I haven't added any new ones. D: Yeah, sad to say. We get Kotone and the Execs and I barely go, "Eh." ....They're just more fodder to feed my Falkner fanning. *halo* I /am/ excited that the number of Falkner 'ships is now 250-ish. ^____^ *sharing the credit is awesome~*

I got myself an OTP in Bleach this year. =3 Forget watching or reading the series, I get all I need from it with the Kurosaki/Ishida daddies.

But nevermind Bleach, I got myself a new fandom entirely, holy cow! I praise thee, Capcom, for breathing the life that is Sengoku Basara and giving us.../me/ the likes of so much love. ChikaNari, KenKasu, ShinKen, MasaKoju, HisaKoju, NagaOi, OYATAKA-SAMA, and MitsuNari (the only actual crack pairing in there). I heart this crap. It's good crap. I love it. I love them.

Fell in love with xxxHolic this year too. Made me question if, while CLAMP is all about pairs that are made for each other, there aren't sets that are made for each other too. Tomoyo made have loved Sakura, she wasn't intended to be Sakura's True One. But then, it seems like she was fit to be Kurogane's True One, in the same fashion Fai was. And Watanuki's all set up to be with either Doumeki or Himawari, making me think they'd all be an OT3. So, there's that.

Otherwise...mmm...nope, nothing really much happened that I can recall.

Um, I've read a lot this past year. I've read and reviewed more fanfics in 2009 on sppf than... I ever have in the past three years that I've been here. I just really love fics and after months of finding like... nothing good on fanfiction.net, Serebii welcomed me with open arms.

On a side note, I really hope that the Oscars pick up this year. There are so many amazing fanfics here, it's really sad that no one cares to post the fics they like. After all, there are a good number of reviews for each fic.

I began supporting Appealshipping, I also began making Satoshi my little slut I mean Shipping bicycle. I also got into more crack ships; Novelshipping, Belleshipping, and Kanata (Kelly) x Red, OMG I need to go name that now XD
But, anyway. I just joined SPPF not to long ago and my new years resolution is to hopefully see the Shipping and Shipping Fic section here more active.

Oh heck yeah Toran, Bleach shippings are awesome. Chad/Karin (altho she is my fave of Ichigo's fam this is the only ship I'll put her in. I love her w/ her tall dark rescuer), Kon/Yuzu (what little girl doesn't have a "toy" they love above all others and confide in?), Kon/Uryu (haha I consider it flirting when he sews silly things onto his modsouly lil plushie) Jinta/Ururu/Yuzu triangle, and Rukia well I ***** her out to everyone inc the obvius Rukia/Ichigo pairing but am esp fond of shipping her w/ Renji for his devotion, Orihime for the sisterly bond, and Kaien for the guilt she felt over his death, hollow posession, devoredness... criminey is RIP ever allowed for the good guys in Bleachdom?

Not much going on with me. Although I did pass the one year mark for my new OTP. That's why I'm sure it's my OTP. There've been other times when I thought I was going to jump ships, but they never lasted. I didn't think this would, either. It kind of surprised me.

Fell in love with xxxHolic this year too. Made me question if, while CLAMP is all about pairs that are made for each other, there aren't sets that are made for each other too. Tomoyo made have loved Sakura, she wasn't intended to be Sakura's True One. But then, it seems like she was fit to be Kurogane's True One, in the same fashion Fai was. And Watanuki's all set up to be with either Doumeki or Himawari, making me think they'd all be an OT3. So, there's that.

Love that one. Although I think CLAMP makes subtle hints that Watanuki goes with Kohane-chan. She's got all these subtle connections to Sakura. And Yuuko always saying that those two are the same. I expanded on this in alternate shipping.

2. I re-got into Hottieshipping, A**holeshipping (hurrrr censoring, but it's soon to be renamed anyway so screw it, I'll remake that thread when it IS), EliteUndershipping, and Redneckshipping.

3. Actually got into Charadeshipping, Ferventshipping and Harangueshipping (the soon-to-be-name for Eusine x Thorton).

4. Started a huuuuuuuge RP with my biffle involving our favorite Pokemon boys and that has taken up my entire life XD no seriously it has. It's wonderful and it's turning out to be a really cool story so far 8D Lots of fluff and drama and angst and such.

5. Sacredshipping and I had a falling out because now it and Honorshipping seem to be the only pairings for Morty anymore other than with sdlkfjkgljfdlfjdksfjs KOTONE >:C and people were getting really elitist with it too. so I'm like TO HELL WITH YOU don't wanna be one of you guys anymore

6. I also went back to the BMG shipping forums. >_> Sorry guys. Would rather be bombarded with Rocketshipping than Pokeshipping.

3. Ship names still annoy me a great deal, because 99% of the time I cannot be arsed to look a name up in a list when I want to talk to a shipper. And there are so. many. names.

xP Glance and even Snowpoint was kinky in its own little way even I support it despite being an Appealshipper. I just saw the Jap eps and I was like oh man, damn you Candice, why are you so kinky, especially as Zoey's sempai... XD

Anyways, the ships I got into in 2009... surprisingly most of them are from Railgun and some from Pokemon... yeah...

For Toaru Kagaku no Railgun: We have MikotoxKuroko, actually this started in Index but my love for it actually grew much more when I started reading the Railgun manga, and then when Railgun was finally animated, it was like, oh wow, this is just... too much... but I still love the ship either way... 8D

Unexpected ship that I like too is UiharuxSaten the more I saw them in the Railgun manga, the more I came to like them being together, and the anime shows of them being together and more than that even more... 8D

For Pokemon, we have yes, Glanceshipping (ZoeyxDawnxCandice) I believe... and even SnowpointShipping (ZoeyxCandice). Though I actually didn't get into it much (though I like what I saw) until this month due to me only getting the Jap eps around this week, seeing the trio is just as awesome as well as the sempai-kouhai relationship Zoey and Candice share (which reminds me of MikotoxKuroko, only the personalities swapped XD)

I don't think I've gotten into much shippings, the rest are total crack and for my fangirling purposes alone... *flees*
