Do you think any book series' are over/under rated?
Despite how much I love it, I feel Harry Potter is extremely overrated and underrated at the same time. When the final film was in theaters, all my friends who saw it cried simply because it was the last film (and they treated the series like it was sacred text). I cried during both the book and film because of how powerful they were, so sweet (a word I almost never use), so [insert colorful adjective that describes The Deathly Hallows in a positive light]. And for the underrated bit, see below on The Lord of the Rings.
I also feel that The Twilight Saga is overrated. I read a few pages and I couldn't stand it. What I read was extremely boring and badly written. I simply can't understand why any publisher would accept it, much less anyone read it and act like it's God.
Anything Stephen King. Yes, yes, his earlier works were incredible. But as of late, he's declined in quality. And plus I don't like how he views talented writers: "If you wrote something for which someone sent you a check, if you cashed the check and it didn't bounce, and if you then paid the light bill with the money, I consider you talented." That basically tells me that I'm not a talented writer. BULL! I don't pay bills yet, I'm not even close to getting ready to get published, so don't pull that crap on me. I have NEVER received negative criticism (aside from what I give myself) for what bits of my story have been read, only positive and constructive criticism. /off topic rant
I feel The Lord of the Rings is underrated because of how ignorant people are. Most people whom I've met haven't even tried to read it, and just say it's boring, that they'd much rather watch the films. That deserves a facepalm if you ask me.
