The Start of A New Journey

RaZoR LeAf

Night Terror
Mynto Data Files

The aeroplane touched down a little after eight in the morning. The sun was just making a place for itself in the sky, and white clouds floated above like puffs of cotton. It was a perfect day for a large event, and a large event it was. Mynto's airport was still under construction, so the plane landed on an aircraft carrier that was floating just off the coast of the island. It was there that everyone was disembarking and getting ready for the trails that lay ahead. Looking out over the calm blue/green waters, the tall yet flat peak of the Ginger Mountains was just visible beneath an icy mist. Beyond that, Mount Paprika, the island's own volcano was almost glowing from the heat it produced.

"Can I get everyone's attention please?" A voice boosted by a megaphone turned the many conversations silent and twisted heads all in one direction. "Thanks! Can we have all the winners of the competition on the first boat to the main land please."

The competition winners weren't the only ones on the first power boat speeding towards the mainland. Several other groups were also there including the competition organisers (The Devon-Silph Institute for Science), teams of scientists and business men, and the few reporters that hadn't gone ahead with the other the night before. Cameron looked around, noticing a girl running around everywhere with a video camera, capturing as much as she could on the small device, getting in as many peoples faces as she could. There were several winners, more than anyone expected there to be.

The boat arrived on the coast within minutes, and everyone disembarked onto a hastily constructed dock. The group of winners was led into the first town of Mynto, Oregano town. A quaint village with a renaissance feel to it. A large building looking more like a courthouse on the outside was in fact the lab where the islands Professor Pine waited patiently for people to receive their pokemon. The Professors own house was pointed out, a relatively big estate, bigger than the other houses, but nothing to be compared with the likes of Saffron or Lilycove. The rest of the houses were all nice enough to look at. The whole town had a faint smell of Oregano about it, mostly due to the wild groves of the herb around the town borders and in people's gardens.

"Ok winners, can you all just stand together for a moment while we take some publicity shots?"

Cameron sighed, this was the whole part of the journey he was bothered by. Apparently they would have reporters following them around in the cities too, keeping the rest of the world up to date on their progress, like some stupid reality tv show. He posed for the photos, smiling, doing V-signs like in those stupid cartoons. He felt like throwing up, or at the least punching someone. Finally he managed to sneak off while the others got caught up with getting interviewed. Cameron headed into the lab quickly, avoiding getting caught.

"Hey you can't just come in here like that!" a spectacled scientist said.

"For goodness sake Brian, shut up and let the boy come in." a voice from above said. "Those media hounds have been out there since before the sun rose. You're irritated after being out there for fifteen minutes, how do you think I feel?"

Professor Pine came down the stairs. Cameron didn't know much about the professor, except for one unique thing. Professor Pine was a woman. Not that this was a problem, but in the world of pokemon science, there were few leading female professors. Pine was tall, towering above Cameron. She had a long face, a long nose and piercing green eyes. A pair of narrow rectangular glasses sat on the bridge of her nose, while her auburn hair sat above her head like some post-modern beehive. Her lab coat was trimmed, appearing stylish, while beneath that she wore a smart-casual suit. She smiled, sincerely.

"You would be Cameron am I right? I tried to familiarise myself with all the competition winners, but going by publicity photos and a list of names was difficult."

"That's right."

"So you know that we tried to keep most traditions as the other leagues here, except for one. I suppose this was the draw for most people. Pokemon brought in from all over the world. Not just the usual Fire, Grass and Water starters. I heard libraries were very busy as people were searching for the most exciting pokemon they could fine."

"I did hear. I saw mine on the National Geographic Channel. I only saw it's second stage, so the last one will be a surprise for me."

"I'm certain it will." she said, smirking. She stopped alongside a large spherical machine, with several transparent tubes hanging down like tentacles. There was a large flat screen on the front. Pine pressed her hand against the pad, and something bleeped. "Pine, M-Zero-Zero-One" she said. Something beeped again. "Magonym."

The machine whirred slightly, then a pokeball rolled gently down a tube and stopped at the end. This was a specially coloured poke-ball, with a regular white base, and green camouflage on top signifying the Bug pokemon inside. Cameron released the pokemon inside, and it materialised on the floor below him. The pokemon was a pale flesh coloured maggot, with almost individual segments to it's body, made more vibrant by a slight increase in coloration towards each 'join'. Two beady black eyes and a puckered mouth with a small proboscis were about the only other features the pokemon had. Considering it's size at about a foot and a half tall, it would freak out any bug haters.

The Magonymph buzzed. It didn't have a call like other pokemon of it's kind, instead it made a strange buzzing drone, not unlike a magnemite, but with a slightly more organic quality, since it changed tone quite often. Professor Pine handed Cameron a Pokedex, with matching pattern on the case, along with three regular pokeballs.

"You have a mobile phone right?" Cameron dug around in a pocket and pulled out a small flip phone. "Excellent. Take this number down... it's our contact number, put it in as Cress. That's 'Centre for Research, Exploration, Safety and Success'. It's what we strive for here. If there are any developments you need to now about, we'll fill you in,"

"Thanks.. say is there a back door out of the lab? I'd rather not stand outside for the next two hours getting more photos taken, plus I wouldn't want to scare my pokemon."

"Ha, you're a rebel kid." Pine said "Sure thing, I'll have my Gardevoir teleport you to the edge of town."

A blue and white bodied Gardevoir floated down from above, and nodded to Cameron. He nodded back and the pokemon waved it's arms. Unlike teleporting with other pokemon, where it feels like you are moving, this was different. Gardevoir are supposedly able to warp reality around them, and this was close to the mark. It looked like the environment around him was mixing into a different one, before the latter stayed and the former melted away. Gardevoir moved away before vanishing again.

Cameron glanced back at the small village. He could make out camera flashes and hear raised voices, but with no interest in staying, headed out onto the path towards the next town.

Finally extracting himself from the crowd of reporters which had camped out to "welcome" the lucky trainers, Alex nearly fell through the entrance to the laboratory, crashing bodily into a surprised assistant.

"Hey, watch it!" the disgruntled young man snapped, only to be stopped by a woman Alex recognised as Professor Pine.

"Now, now, let's not argue over an accident," she said quietly but firmly. As the assistant slouched away, she smiled warmly at Alex.

"Nice of you to join us," she said pleasantly as she led Alex to a machine with several tubes, "You're Alex Cattan, aren't you?".

"Erm, yes!" Alex blurted out as she bent over the machine.

"Pine-zero-zero-two," she intoned, "Purrmew."

"Purrmew?" Alex queried.

"When we asked you for your preference of starter pokemon, you told us to surprise you, so long as it was a fire-type," Pine answered, "I think you'll be pleased with this." She handed him a Pokeball with an orange top half, with three black claw-like scratches across the top.

The ball burst open, and a small orange kitten leapt into Alex's arms. As two tiny embers blazed from its ears, the kitten looked up at its new trainer happily.

"Purrmew!" it cried, eyes almost welling up in devotion.

"Erm, yes - as a baby, it is a bit...enthusiastic," Pine sighed, "With a bit of training, though - its true power will be revealed."

Purrmew bounced out of Alex's arms and curled up on his left shoulder, closing its eyes contentedly.

"Good luck, Alex - I'm sure you'll do well!" Pine said as he left the lab. Nodding, Alex set off towards the next town, hoping to avoid the attention of the press as he left with his new partner.

Always Friends
"Ugh..." Tanner grunted. He had been found. This fifteen year old boy had been attempting to escape behind the trees. A small man walked up to him, and thrust a microphone infront of Tanner's mouth.

"May I ask you a few questions, boy?" the small man said in high pitched, scratchy voice. Tanner rolled his eyes. A few questions meant a thousand, especially went it came from a TV Reporter. Tanner usually looked at things this way. Everything is more drastic to Tanner, but he can bring out the best of even the most drastic situations.

"I'm sorry, I know you have many questions, but I need to start this thing. I came here for a new friend, not an exasperating reported. Tanner trudged off feeling secretly happy. The reporter's mouth hung down. Tanner turned around, and waved the reporter shoo. When Tanner had finally reached the lab, barely escaping a gigantic lady with a camcorder. He slowly pushed the huge door open, and peered inside to see a tall lady sitting in a large, cushiony chair.

"Go away, it's not time yet!" A young man rudely yelled. He slammed the door, hitting Tanner in the nose.

"Ow...." he said, rubbing his now bleeding nose.

"Now that wasn't nice." said a quiet calm voice from inside. Tanner heard footsteps, and awaited the Professor. The tall lady that was sitting in the chair now stood infront of Tanner. He had to look all the way up to see her face, but the sun got in his face. "Hello..." said the same calm voice. "My name is Professor Pine. Your one of the ones participating in the competition, right?" she asked curiously.

Tanner nervously spat out a, "Y-yes.", and Professor Pine moved back inside to let Tanner in. She beckoned Tanner to follow, and walked infront of a huge machine with many tubes hanging out like extra, extra large socks.

"Pine-Zero-Zero-Two," Professor Pine said in a robotic sort of way, "Aquadle". The machine sputtered, spat, and made a lengthy beeping noise. A ball popped out of the longest tube, right onto a steel platform. "Here you go..." Professor Pine said sweetly, putting the PokeBall infront of Tanner. He took it gratefully, said thank you, and dropped it to the floor. He smiled at the sight of a blue dog, with puffy blue cotton hair. Aquadle's body was small and slender, and her hair was just a big blue cotton puff. Every other spot of her legs were coated with a bit of the same blue cotton. Her back was also covered in the same cotton. Her tail was very small, and very thin, and there was a very large ball on the end. The ball was very light, and easy to left with even the skinniest arm or tail. Aquadle's eyes were a cold blue, and her snout was very long, and was tipped with a blue ball for a nose.

"I saw that in a book I read!" Tanner tapped his chin. "It was called... Mysterious Myths."

"Yes, people have said that." Professor Pine giggled. Tanner walked towards the door, when Professor Pine said, "Teleporting is much easier." Tanner flipped around, and saw a green and white Gardevoir. "Yes, she's very sweet. Her brother normally teleports trainers, but he's tired from the last trainer he had to teleport." Professor Pine cooed. Gardevoir smiled at her master, and held on to Tanner's hand. The world around Tanner turned white. Nothing there, just blank. Then, splotches of green appeared on the walls of this white place, and brown splotches appeared beneath Tanner's feet. When all the splotches filled the white area, he saw two boys walking down a path.

"Hey guys, are you in this tournament too?" Tanner yelled, running towards him. He noticed Aquadle at his side. He looked down at her, and she winked at him. She started running faster, like she was trying to race him. "Ok, we'll do it your way!" Tanner tried to catch up to her, and the two other mysterious boys.

Noah blinked a few times witnessing the scene of chaos. Everywhere there were people pushing through one another with camera bulbs flashing and a mad cacophony of chattering voices. They were all so hurried and anxious; Noah could almost feel the static in the air. He understood it was a big, even important event, but he did not get why it couldn't be handled in a more civilized manner. The trainers were running all over place with reporters following close on their heels. A couple of them began taking refuge in the laboratory and their trackers were quick to turn on the ones still out.

He started towards the building, knowing he would be confronted with the vulture-like mob, but not really caring at this point. He was more worried about the weather, much warmer than he would have preferred, especially for so early in the morning. He debated removing his coats but knew in an instant he would never submit to the idea and left them on, instead just shifting their weight around slightly in vain attempt to be more comfortable.

He pressed on, wiping a bit o sweat away from his slanted brow that had begun to accrue, with it some borrowed stickiness from his hair product. He absent-mindedly brushed it to his pants leg as he entered the group of people who hung like a bubble over the path, waiting to trap any passerby. He instantly felt slightly out of place as a good amount of the other trainers were noticeably younger than he. Taller than most of the surrounding people, Noah found himself an easy target for the reporters, and it wasn't long at all before he was confronted.

"Hello! What's your name? Where are you from? How does it feel to be among the first trainers to participate in the Mynto league? What are your plans? What kind of Pokemon do you look to catch?"

The questions swarmed him from all directions, and he wondered how any of them possibly expected theirs to be answered. He stopped for a moment, looking slightly downwards, hands in the pockets of his outermost jacket. He found himself surrounded, no less than a half-dozen microphones shoved in his personal space and a likewise amount of cameras fixed on him. The correspondent directly in front of him managed to get a question in. With one of the "How does it feel.." questions.

"Well," Noah said, rubbing his chin. "I really miss the corpses." He didn't wait for a response and pushed through the living gate around him and up to lab. Entering, he noticed to others in the vicinity, a young man and a woman with auburn hair in a lab coat and glasses, the latter was obviously professor Pine. Noah assumed the younger man to be another trainer before he began taking a look over some equipment and solidified himself as an employee. He approached and cleared his throat. "Good morning, I'm-"

"Noah, right?" Professor Pine interrupted, looking at him with an expression about her suggesting she was trying to remember. "Westland?"

"Westmoreland," Noah corrected. "Quite the crowd out there."

"Yes well, there's always jackals where there's fresh meat," Pine responded. "Anyway, I have your Pokemon here, just a moment." As she headed over to a large spherical machine bedizened with tubes and other eccentric, Noah let his gaze wander for only a moment before he heard the contraption speak in a robotic voice. "Spectrin." He then took a few steps forward as Professor Pine retrieved a Pokeball, white on the bottom but a swirled blue and violet on the top, and handed it over. "Spectrin, as you heard and already know."

"Indeed," Noah answered, looking at the ball in his palm. "Been looking forward to looking with a ghost type." He released the Pokemon, then, and watched as a three foot long skeletal fish with tattered violet fins materialized in front of him. It hovered in the air, rather sulkily, but did take a hovering circle or two. It was silent, eerily so, but it came as a comfort to Noah who was so familiar with the dead. "Perfect.." he muttered. "Well, if that is all..."

"You should take this number down on your phone," Pine advised, holding out a slip of paper. Noah shook his head.

"Don't carry such things. I'll be all right. Got it memorized now after looking at it, so if I need to contact I'll find a way. Thanks for the Pokemon." Noah turned to exit but noticed the seizure-inducing volley of flash bulbs going off and scratched the back of his head.

"A couple others left with my help," Pine said from behind him. "I'll have you teleported out. No trouble at all." Noah complied and soon found himself adjacent to a Gardevior. He felt a lurch as the Pokemon performed the technique and after a spiraling of color and twisted vision, images reformed into a scene much different form the lab. Noah realized he was out of the town, on its outskirts, with a trail leading out ahead of him. He tucked his Pokeball into his pocket (he had previously recalled Spectrin at the lab) and set off.

OOC: Sorry in advance if I'm not very active this week, my parents are on holiday so I'm staying with relatives; only dial up access at the weekend, coming home for a while on Tuesday, maybe Thursday, then the weekend. Hope I don't fall too far behind.

Xander took a few deep breaths, with his eyes closed, as he tried to stay calm. The fresh sea air had a strong salty scent, and the boat had just arrived at the dock. He watched as the people hurried to get onto the docks and into Oregano town. Xander tailed behind, not wanting to get lost in the crowd. He gazed to the town, more like a village really. It had a nice, cosy feel to it, though the airport under construction nearby looked rather odd and out of place. A bizzare odour of herbs now mixed with the sea air, not exactly bad but not pleasant either. As he stepped onto the dock, a breeze swept his hair back, and he saw a plethora of cameras, interviewers, photographers, journalists.

Oh crap... Xander thought to himself. He hurriedly increased his striding length and pace, trying to ignore the flashes of cameras and chatter of the crowds.

Once it was time to go to the lab, he began to make his way there, head down, hoping not to attract attention. But, of course, he soon had a microphone shoved in his face, and saw his reflection gazing back at him in the lens of a large camera.

"Xander! How does it feel to-"

"Good." Xander said irritatedly, before shoving the microphone to the side and hurrying on, a little uneasy at how the young reporter knew his name.

He hurriedly sprinted to the entrance to the lab, but just as he was almost at the door, he tripped. Falling to the ground, his knees grazed, and his jeans tore. He clambered to his feet, ignoring the eruption of laughter around him, and charged into the lab, frowning. He gasped for breath, and looked around. Ahead of him stood a woman in a lab coat; Professor Pine. She was staring at him with a slightly puzzled expression.

"Uh... Hello." Said Xander.
"Hello... Xander, correct?"
"Yes..."
She glanced down at his knees, and looked at his face again with a smile of concern.
"Are you alright?"
"I'll be fine. Could I please meet my pokemon" Said Xander, smiling back.
"Of course."

The professor turned and stepped towards a strange contraption, said a few words and numbers, and the pokemon's name, "Lufro". A pokeball slided through the tube and out of the mechanism, and Pine handed Xander the pokeball. He pressed the button and threw it to the ground, releasing the new pokemon.

Out came his first own pokemon; a cute, canine pokemon; snowy fur, big, sapphire eyes. It looked up at its new trainer, and let out a friendly bark of a cry. It jumped up at Xander playfully, and he held his new pokemon close.

"Nice to meet you, Lufro." He smiled, happy to finally have his own pokemon. Lufro's fur was cool to the touch, and left a thin layer of frost on Xander's hands after he returned the pokemon to its pokeball. Strangely, it didn't actually feel cold at all. He brushed the frost off his hands and looked at Pine.

"Cool." He said, unusually cheery.
"I think you two will have a lot of fun together. Now..." The professor continued to explain a few things, before handing him a pokedex and some pokeballs. After exchanging numbers, the professor's gardevoir had teleported him onto a path just outside the town. Xander let Lufro out again and knelt down, petting it on the head. He reached into his pocket and took out a pokeblock case, and gave the pokemon a small orange pokeblock. He ate it with delight.

"Now then, Lufro, We should get going. We're going on a long journey, so I want us to become good friends... I'm sure you're going to be a really strong pokemon. Soon, I'll let you stay out of the pokeball all the time, but let's wait 'til we've done some training."

Lufro nodded before returning to the pokeball.

Nick was pretty ****** off right about now. These darn reporters have been following him and everyone else the whole time. These people kept taking photos andvideo recordings. They annoyed these trainers with their random questions. Nick knew the worst way yet to come... These damn people would follow Nick throughout his whole journey.

"What a load of -" Nick was cut short...

"Excuse me, sir, how do you feel about this new journey?" A reporter asked Nick.

"Hmm, how 'bout you shut up.." Nick said.

"Excuse me, sir?"The male reporter asked.

"Oh, forget it, just stress, I think it will be fine.." Nick said.

"Okay then." The reporter left.

Nick had a thought or two about these idotic reporters.

"What a bunch of morons." Nick said to himself... aloud.

Those reporters gave Nick some stares...

Relentless.... these people are relentless.

Nick saw his escape. The gate that would free him from all these damned reporters. Nick stealthily approaced the other side. Into the lab... Nick noticed a person with auburn hair, glasses and a standard lab coat. Only diference, this leading professor was female. Professor Pine.

"Hello, Professor-" Nick was cut short again by the professor.

"Nick? From New Bark?" She asked.

"Maybe.." Nick said.

"Pine-Zero-Zero-Five." She said robotically. A pokeball adorned with a leaf on top appeared from a machine that distributed the starter pokemon. "Coleuko" She said.

"Go Coleuko." Nick called out.

A beautiful green gecko appeared. It was adorned in lovely green coleus leaves. It wasn't very tall at all. It looked like a fighter.

"I'll name you Botanica... Let's go Botanica." Nick said. With that they were to depart.

"Wait.. Gardevoir teleport them to the back entrance, so that those reporters don't harass them."Pine said. With that, a blue and white pokemon use some magical psychic energy to transport Nick to the back gate.

'The start of a new journey." Nick said.

~Docks, Oregano Town~

The town sprawled out before him, clinging to the rolling hills, calmly overlooking the lulling sapphire sea. Reporters scurried about a group in front of him. They had ignored him, for some reason. Maybe because he tucked his id tag into his t-shirt. Maybe because he smiled tenderly all the time, like an usher, or something...

Satchel Ruiz closed his emerald eyes softly, drawing in a deep breath. This was to be the best year of his life. He smartly wiped the sultry sea mist off his blue jeans and emerald t-shirt. He curled the brim of his Dewford Demons cap into a curve and walked forward eagerly. A smile flashed his face.

The boarding school in Rustboro had been getting SO dull. It just felt good sometimes, to escape. Maybe run off into the woods and skip first hour...

Satchel shook his head. This was different. This was more.

He walked towards the town, remembering faintly that that idiot from Kanto had beat him in a game of shuffleboard. Took most of his cash too.

What did that matter, though? He had made it alive, in perfect condition. Like an exhibit on loan from the Pewter Meseum of Science to Rustboro's scrawny one, he was ready to face the masses.

The sun shone with promise above him, golden rays stretching across the land. He walked forward, towards what he hoped to be was the pokemon laboratory. Soon, oh so soon, he would have a eager little baby pokemon in his arms, ready to face adventures and trials untold.

~

The lab was a grand one, much greater than the one in Dewford. The one in Rustboro, headed by Professor Yule, for that matter. Satchel stepped in cheerfully. What could go wrong? Nothing. Simply nothing.

"Good morning. Satchel Ruiz, I assume?" Said a strangely high voice for a man. Satchel looked up. Wait a minute, Pine was a woman?

"You assume right, Professor Pine," Satchel replied, extending his long, tan hand. Must've taken some hard work to get to THAT position. As women didn't usally make good trainers. And thusly, they weren't usually very good at being professors either.

The professor shook his hand heartily. "So, I'm betting you want your pokemon, right?"

"You bet, ma'm. Ah, I can't believe the day is finally here!"

"Me neither. After all, we've been preparing for almost a decade. Media has been swarming around here ever since it was first announced." She stepped into a back room, but only for a second. When she reammerged, a small pokeball was in her hand, and a small cardboard box in the other.

"What's inside?" Satchel asked eagerly.

"Hold on, bud. Let me open this PokeDex for ya'. Fresh from Rustboro these are. Great city, Rustboro."

"Sure is."

"You live there?" The woman pry her fingers into the box frustratedly.

"No, boarding school."

The box suddenly ripped open. "Cool. Now that we've got the Dex, here's your pokeball."

"Wow, it's great." Satchel grinned in awe as the professor handed her the red and white sphere. He cupped it gently, admiring the shiny features. "I wonder what's inside."

"You'll have to see, won't you! Now, here's a PokeDex," she said, handing him a ruby red device with a pull out hing and a black circle that surrounded a green button. "Now, you turn it on with the power switch."

"Obviously." Satchel looked down at his pokeball. Finally. His very own pokemon...

"And then, you can look up pokemon. All the pokemon data is uploaded already. And there's a handy little feature also. Take out this stylus here and you can access a memo feature for each pokemon. Quite useful, I guess."

"Thanks, professor. I'll be going now?"

"Yes, I do believe you will be. See ya'!"

Satchel left, a pokeball in his one hand, the pokedex in the other.

"Oh yes. I forgot. Here's an island map. You would've been messed up if you hadn't had that, right?"

"Thanks, professor. I owe ya' one."

"Have a nice journey, Satchel!"

Satchel smiled in reply. He left Oregano Town, the sun wrapping warmly around him. This was the start of something new. Something better. Oh so better.

This was the start of a new journey. A new journey in a new land.

OOC: If we give a valid explanation, and a pokemon profile, can we catch new species?

The soft warming sun reflected off the aerodynamic wings of the large silver Airplane. The reflection made the Airplane appear to be a soft drifting feather, cutting the sound barrier of course. Morgan gazed out the small compressed window to see the new surroundings. The Warm oceans thrashed about, with weak, yet, towering waves. She noticed many unfamiliar pokemon only native to this Region as well as pokemon from other regions. As the plane made a U turn to land on the lone Carrier, the view of an active volcano, with smog spewing out of its mouth.

The airplane came inches from the ocean's waves, squeaking its wheels on the Carrier, they have landed. By the sun's position, Morgan thought it to be past seven, but before noon. Already, as the flight attendant guided the contest winners to the speed boats, cameramen, and news teams swarmed the docks like ants building a new tunnel. The beach to where the contest winners were to dock was filled with bright white flashes, Morgan's eye winced at the many flashes. Within five minutes the Speed boats arrived at the coast, and the attendants guided the Mynto newcomers to the starting town. Morgan felt like she was going to her doom, as well as her throne. Cameras flashed at her, will occasional:

"Miss! Want an interview?"

or

"Smile here miss. Excellent!"

Morgan sweating with pressure, kept walking faster, and faster, saying 'umb, well, you see, umb.' as she passed by the reporters. She was to afraid to be on camera. After a half mile trot from the stream of Reporters she found herself in the town, only to be greeted by 10x more annoying reporters. She could not escape them. Her face blushed pink, her breathing: harder. She felt like screaming out: 'Leave me alone!' but her vocal chords did not agree. All that came out was a raspy cough. She saw two boys ahead of her go into a fancy large building, trying to sneak away, she rushed to the building, Slamming the door upon entering.

As she closed the door she turned her body and peered out the door's window, the other contest winners were busy doing interviews. Morgan sighed, and just as she was turning to walk inward to the hall, as she did, a firm hand brushed up against her trembling shoulder. With a shriek she tossed the unknown hand away, and pivoted to see who it was, but tripped and fell backwards. Morgan quickly caught herself though.

"My-My, Camera Shy? How have you kids learned to just waltz into other people's property! If I was your age, I would respect my elders, and other people‘s properties..."

".....Uh? Umb......Sorry?"

The man wore a White Jacket, and had glasses, his body was that of a Canadian Lumberjack. A man of the Coniferous forests.

“Prof--Professor P-Pine!? From your profile….Th-the committee gave us, I thought you would be uh…..More….umb…..Female…”

“You twit! I am not Prof Pine! I am Brian, Ace assistant to the Madame Scientist Ms. (Mrs.?) Pine!”

Brian did a super hero pose, lights sparkling off his shining smile. His all and mighty glory soon flattened as a soft, yet stern female voice spoke.

“Brian! Stop scarring off these children! And PLEASE take off the Machoke suit!”
Brian’s body deflated, his muscular tone went wimpy, in reality Brian was nothing but skin and bone, yet he still held an unseen charm, maybe that was the reason, Prof. Pine kept him as her assistant. Brian sighed, with a pathetic tone, as he, hunched over, dragged his arms across the room into private corridors. Prof. Pine had a commanding voice about her, Morgan could do nothing but stand at awe, with jaw dropped.

Prof. Pine came up to her, with a smile, showing years of knowledge, eyes wanting to teach the world of her wisdom. As the two ladies made eye contact, Morgan felt inspiration brewing within her. Morgan quickly turned away, putting her hand to her mouth.

“I--I---I’m…..Sorry…”

“For what? Relax……Morgan is it?--”

Prof. Pine , quickly glanced down at the clipboard she was holding, and then looked back up with a smile.

“--Hmmm, It says here, that you are a very social person, I am surprised you aren’t feeding the camera crews.”

“Well, you see, umb, I, no, well-”

“-Relax, Relax, Ha….Don’t get so tense, it is bad for the body, and mind, you will never succeed her in Mynto, hiding behind you hands, covering your face, you got to show the world who you really are.”

“Umb….O-Ok…Umb, Ms. Pine….I mean Prof. Pine? I-is there a way I can-”

“-Say no more--”

Prof. Pine swung a key around her finger like a hool-a-hoop, she then caught it with amazing reflexes, and pierced the key into a door. As she turned the newly created switch, a heat seeking object, with a camera appeared. It shot a laser into Prof. Pine‘s eye, after about three ticks and a ding, the device retreated back into the wall, a distant rumbling was heard.

“Now, follow me--I can get you to the internal laboratory--to get your pokemon, of course…”

Morgan followed close behind Prof. Pine. As Morgan went down the many halls, the felt she was in an art museum. Prof. Pine, or Brian, whomever, was a ecstatic art collector, there were tons of copied Art, and even one original art piece in the halls of the mansion. Morgan wondered why they were heading to the opposite side of the manor, when the device scanned Prof. Pine already. Pine suddenly stopped, making Morgan almost collide into her.

There, right in front of Morgan was two steel doors, as Prof. Pine approached them , and almost like sliding glass the doors, the two massive sheets of steel disappeared into the sides of the wall, revealing a passage way to the Lab across the street.

“Come on Morgan, don’t just stand there, once I enter, you cannot follow, now hurry before the doors close.”

“Uh, Right, coming!”

Morgan did a small jump and run into the doors, after two minutes the doors closed.

“Now Morgan, I would think you would especially appreciate the pokemon you are to receive, all the other kids who came by have had a taste of this new region through the National Geography documentary last week, let me guess, did you?”

“National Geography? You mean the thing on the discovery channel? No, sorry, I-I don’t watch that much TV, I more like to read….”

“Fine with me, back in my day, Television, was a rare necessity…Any who, time to get your Pokemon, Morgan Thomson.”

Prof. Pine punched into a keyboard, a computer voice activated.

[INPUTTING NAME, REGISTRATION COMPLETE, M-O-R-G-A-N T-H-O-M-S-O-N, REGISTERED TRAINER. PRINTING LICENSE-Beep-Beep…LICENSE PRINTED, PLEASE IMPUT POKEMON ID#]

“Ok, Morgan, I would like you to meet your newest Partner, her species is adapt to learning, they will develop skills overtime…Meet Sonlu.”

[SONLU, SERENE CRY POKEMON, ID# 0-3-3, REGISTRATION CONFIRMED]

Prof. Pine picked up a poke ball, this poke ball was different then the usual red and white one. The base part, which was usually white, was platinum. The top was a royal blue. Towards the center of the top, a decal of a golden Musical note resided.

“This ball is known as REST BALL, it slowly heals your pokemon every time you walk, but it puts the pokemon to sleep. Poison does not affect the pokemon after battles, as in other balls. Now in the next town over there is two main shops to purchase goods, oh, and before I forget, here is your Pokedex.”

“Th-Thankyou, Prof. Pine.”

“Why not release your Sonlu, to see what she looks like?”

‘Yeah, sure, good thinking…”

Rachel took the REST BALL, and released the pokemon, an array of silver sparkles filled the air as she released the laser.

“Sluuuu.”

Sang the small plushy pokemon as it hopped on the floor. The Sonlu immediately recognized her trainer and jumped up onto the trainer’s shoulder. A jump to that height was amazing to its size, but it was extremely light weight. The soft velvety fur gave a warming sensation to Morgan, as Sonlu purred, the two subs, vibrates, as a soft tune emerged. The two bear-like feet, were inserted into the plush body of Sonlu making it seem like a perfect ball with an adorable face, two stubs, and two short growing wings. Morgan smiled.

“Sonlues are babies and require allot of sleep, not as much as a Slakoth, snorlax, or Abra, but if a Sonlu is attacked while it is blissful, it will release steam, and cause an uproar, slightly stronger then a whismur. Now good luck on your journey--Oh wait! Do you have a mobile?”

“A phone? Yes, I do….why?”

“May I see it?”

“Uh, sure I guess, what for?”

I was going to program the labs number into it so when my company has any updates you will be one of the first to know, well Morgan good luck, the next town is about a mile that way, so you will reach it by noon.”

“Thanks.”

Morgan obtained her phone with the new contact and put it away, with her Pokedex she won in the contest. She thought of returning Sonlu, but it looked so cute, snuggled on her shoulder, she decided to not do it.

Morgan headed off to the next town.

OOC: I know this is crappy, but I had to post something down, well here it is.

Shinigami...
“Well you know, someone had to win it. All I can say is it’s a good thing it was me because you don’t know what kind of action and entertainment you would get from some boring nerd from Johto or something. Keep in mind that I’m the proud trainer of many wonderful contests winning Pokemon, I’m a breeder in training you see and my dad has taught me everything he knows…but I couldn’t just pass up the opportunity to embark on such an outstanding journey. Who knows, I could easily become the next Pokemon master of this new land and maybe then I’ll find my true calling as a Pokemon master and not a master breeder. To think of the possibilities that this journey will give me to progress even further in the world”

There was an all around applause from where the youngster was being interviewed and it immediately brought on more questions, ones in which Kai was all to willing to answer. She grinned and continued to answer the questions with a boastful and proud air about her, an air in which most people would normally find offensive or at least annoying. But Kai didn’t care in the least, in the end she was only looking out for number one and it was true that her name would spread far and wide after she has completed this journey across the new land.

“Well, sorry all. Gotta go and finish this as soon as possible, eh? I mean as soon as I get a move on, the sooner my watchers will be satisfied, eh?” With that, she got down from the stone wall she had been sitting on and made her way towards the lab, ready and willing to receive her new Pokemon companion. ‘Wonder what I should call it? Well that all depends on what it looks like of course…can’t go and name an ice type Pokemon ‘Vulcan’ can I, now?’

As she pushed open the doors, she gave a huge sigh and pressed her back against the door when she had closed it. “Man, rough crowd.”

“Indeed,” came an unexpected reply.

Kai jumped and flung her eye sight in the direction of the voice. She grinned sheepishly when she saw Professor Pine standing there, obviously waiting for her. “Eheheh, didn’t see you there, prof. Sorry got side tracked a little out there. Y’know those reporters, always after a good story and all…I just happened to have one…okay a few but I swear they pressured me into it.”

The professor smiled. “You’re Kai Hitachiin. Am I correct?”

“Yup, yup the one and only. So, prof, what Pokemon y’got for me today then? Something deadly? Something with teeth?” Maybe something with red eyes?” Kai was practically jumping in place with excitement barely contained. She looked up at the professor hopefully with excitement glazed, green eyes.”

“If by deadly you mean strong and if by teeth you mean beak, then yes I do.” The professor walked over to a strange machine and did something that caused it to beep and exclaim a few words that made no sense to Kai what so ever. Soon after a pokeball rolled from its mouth and Kai propelled forward and picked it up. It has a white bottom liked most pokeball’s, but the top was black and carefully designed with a neat pattern of flames. It was unique to say the least and Kai loved it already.

“You can call your Pokemon, you know.”

‘Duh…’

Kai called forth the Pokemon from within the pokeball and glanced down upon the small hawk like creature that appeared before her eyes. It looked somewhat like a bandit and its colouration matched that of Kai’s favourite colour (orange). Its keen eyes were the same colour as the streaks in her hair and its black patched body was lithe looking, but she knew it was strong from the look of determination in its eyes.

“Flam!”

“This is Flamawk, the first evolutionary stage of Gryphocan. With every battle you encounter, this little one’s strength will grow and before long it will evolve into a more powerful creature. It is quite a hard one to raise so be prepared for the hardship that will come along with it. Good luck on your journey, Kai.”

The hawk flew from the floor and took perch upon Kai’s shoulder. Kai in turn grinned and bid the professor a good day, before making her way out. She was immediately crowded by the media once again; obviously they all wanted a glance of the new Pokemon and its owner.

“Whats this species called!?”, “What are you going to call it!?”, “Do you think you can make it through with this Pokemon at your side!?”.

Kai snorted laughter. “It’s called a Flamawk, Yes we can make it through together and as for what I’m gonna call it…” She looked to the hawk on her shoulder and gave it a wide grin. “I’m gonna go ahead and call it ‘Bandit’.”

ClowSui

look! a shiny dragon
Erden tried to force his way through the crowd of excited reporters, his arms amassing some sweat due to his nervousness. Finally reaching close to the door, he sighed in relief but found his way to be blocked by a couple of reporters of Mynto News Network. Sighing, he faced the cameras with a distressed smile and watched as the reporters in front of him, both female, primped themselves up lightly before bringing a simple black, MNN labeled microphone to his mouth.

"So, Mr...Zeexwei?" A brown haired reporter asked with an eccentric, Celadon City Mansions-esque accent.

"It's Zexwei," he responded politely. But soon, he found himself not to be responding to just one person. Others soon crowded around him and he began to breath in a heavier, warmer air. It was a bit constricting, but soon he managed to adjust to the new circumstances.

"Ah, yes, Zexwei...I suppose you are feeling very happy, yes?" "Did your life take a turn to this moment, would you say?" "Are you in the knowleedge of vhat your Pokeemon ez to be?" "What are your social relations and goals?" "Would you be willing to do an interview for Trainer Hotties anytime soon?"

Erden sifted his fingers through spikes of hair and answered all of the questions with a timid approach. It was very discomforting, but Erden kept up his shy, quiet and polite disposition so he had to answer everyone. Soon, he couldn't stand it anymore, apologizing deeply to everyone and promising to show them his Pokemon as he shuffled to a side entrance, aware of the aroma of fresh Myndex and Roselgrass mixing as he stepped into a cool, air conditioned lab.

Immediately, he saw a pretty girl with brown hair and orange streaks receive her Pokeball and release a Pokemon. It seemed to possess layers of dazzling warm-colored feathers that mesmerized Erden even as its trainer walked out. He decided to approach the Professor, who had noticed him as the girl left to confront the flashing lights of cameras, heat and pathways to a new journey.

Erden felt uncomfortable - why did he find her so enchanting when he had a girlfriend? - but waved the feeling away, knowing it would disappear. The professor greeted him cheerfully, her lab coat showing no imperfections as she ruffled it. She was tall but not imposing, something Erden found to be quite awkward.

"Your name is Erdenheim Zexwei, correct?" She asked, pushing up her glasses and looking at her clipboard briefly.

The somewhat tall boy nodded. "Yes I am, Professor Pine." He had done his research before he came - it seemed rude not to know his benefactor, as his family and thought. Not that it wasn't what Erden thought, of course - he was raised on that set of morals and values, after all.

"I already retrieved your Pokemon - I've heard that you're quite the worker from Professor Elm!" She said, laughing and smiling afterwards. Erden blushed slightly, smiling sheepishly in the process. "Well, here is your Flareline." The brunette facing her smiled and thanked her gratitously before taking the warm Pokeball and throwing it out.

The first thing that Erden noticed was the Pokemon's cuteness. It was almost surreal how its looks made it seem - completely harmless. However, it showed itself to possess quite a spirit when it spat a ball of flame at Erden, who dodged quickly. Professor Pine laughed, and apologized with a sheepish, "Sorry." Erden smiled forgivingly and kneeled down to pet the Sharp Flame Pokemon, who responded with a grateful purr.

"She's in her middle period of growth...she hasn't experienced evolution - she's still level 5. That Flareline is prone to mood swings, but I'm sure she'll be well-adjusted to you soon, hm?"

Erden nodded and smiled when his new Pokemon leaped into his cradled arms. "Thank you, again." When he received a Pokedex, a Poketch and three Pokeballs, he was startled by the extra item. "What's this for?"

"Oh, that's a Poketch with a built-in videophone. It seems that Professor Elm wanted you to be aware that he really valued your services...he's not normally like that, so you must have done a really good job." Blushing slightly again, Erden thought, I was really alright at the job...I don't think I needed this... Telling her to thank Professor Elm, he found the door and departed as another person came in.

When he reached the outside, he found the girl from before in front of him. Erden had no time to focus on her, however, because he was soon bombarded by flashes and reporters.

"That is your new Pokemon? It's so adorable~" A teenage journalist squealed. She was obviously an amateur, Erden noted - no clothing to affiliate with reports, no badge, or camera for that matter.

"I'd have to agree with that," Erden said with a smile. "She's a Flareline, and I think I'll call her Flaires..." He turned his head and found himself staring at a pair of sharp hawk eyes...

As he wandered into the woods with Purrmew on his shoulder, Alex glanced back to see that several other trainers were already wandering up the path after him. Frowning, he quickened his pace and soon left them behind.

"For now, it's just going to be you and me, Purrmew - well, and any other pokemon we catch," he said, reaching up to scratch behind the little kitten's ears. It purred happily at his touch.

Entering a clearing, Alex found himself face to face with a small bird with a black back and red chest, hovering in front of him angrily.

"Uh...hi?" Alex ventured. The bird glared at him. Suddenly, Purrmew launched itself off of his shoulder and slashed at the bird with its claws.

"What the-" he cried as he withdrew his pokedex. The machine hummed to life and displayed a picture of the bird, which was now furiously fighting with Purrmew.

Taillow, the tiny swallow pokemon, pokedex announced, It is fiercely territorial and will never give up in battle!

"Oh, brilliant!" Alex groaned, "That's all I need - a pokemon that never gives up!"

A moment later, he realised what he had just said.

"All right! If I catch it, there's no way I'll lose!" he cried, "Taillow - you're mine!"

Tenacious Nel

Long live the D!
A fierce wind blew across the sky, pulling Nelson's hood over his head. He grinned, full of anticipation, waiting for the boat to hit land. The minute the boat had docked, Nelson had jogged up to where they were letting the passengers off. But he wasn't able to just leave at his whim.

He and the others had been taken aside to get their publicity shots. Nelson gave quite the performance, striking heroic and dashing poses. He was one of the few that actually stook around for the entire photography segment.

Once the photographers had taken off, Nelson decided to make his way towards Professor Pine's to pick up his first Pokemon.

"Awright!" Nelson exclaimed, with both his fists squeezed tightly together. "It's finally happening! Today," Nelson placed his foot a top a rock and held a finger high "I write the first page of my "Pokemon Legend"!"

After a bit of meandering, he finally came across the vast estate. Without even knocking he simply opened the door and entered. He peeked around for a few seconds. It seems that while he was busy sucking up the publicity, everyone else had already gotten his or her Pokemon! Nelson plopped to the floor, already feeling defeated.

"I'm already in last place!" Said Nelson in a shaky voice.

"Hello?" Spoke a voice from behind him. Nelson arched backwards to find himself staring at a tall woman. He studied her features briefly and eventually came to the conclusion that she looked like a bird. With that long nose and face, she looked like a Skarmory.

"Heh heh..." Nelson's cheeks flushed with color at this thought. "Ah, hey bird-lady, do you know where I can find Professor Pine?" he asked.

Prof. Pine's eyebrow twitched slightly. "Bird... lady? Now see here-"

Nelson quickly flipped up to his feet. "Yeah, I'm supposed to meet him here for my first Pokemon! Isn't it exciting?! Where is he?" Nelson glanced around rapidly, ignorant to the woman's growing anger. "I assume he's an old geezer. You know, most professors are. He might even have a hunchback!" Nelson made a goofy face and did a comic impression of an old man with a hunchback, leaning over.

"YOU BRAT! I'M PROFESSOR PINE!" The true professor exclaimed, jabbing a finger in his direction, a step away from belching out a flamethrower. Nelson took a few steps back as the new information sank in. He in response pointed at finger at her.

"L-Lady Skarmory is really Professor Pine?! AMAZING!" Nelson darted up to her and began to shake her hand vigorously. "Good morning professor! Name's Nelson and I'm here for my Pokemon!" He flashing a big megawatt smile.

Professor Pine watched the child cautiously as he shook her hand violently. "What the hell is wrong with this kid?" She took her hand back and straightened out her jacket. "Alright, alright. Now that we know each other, let me take you to your Pokemon. Come along." A turn on her heel and she walked off with Nelson eagerly marching behind her.

The two came across a complicated looking machine, one that Nelson would probably never truly grasp without an instruction manual. Prof. Pine placed her hand against the touch pad, coughed softly and spoke out. "Pine-Zero-Zero-Seven." A pokeball made its way from inside the machine, down the tube, and into Pine's hand. "This here is a Flarab, which is a species of Flaming Scarab." She held out the orb to the child who eagerly accepted his gift.

"Awright! I caught... A FLARAB!" He held the Pokeball triumphantly over his head in dramatic fashion. Professor Pine watched with beady eyes.

"But... you haven't caught... anything..."

"Alright little guy, time to show yourself!" In a splash of red light, the tiny black and peach bug appeared, flapping it's tiny wings. It's horn gave off a few sparks of fire, which lit up Nelson's eyes. The Flarab looked up at its new owner with a puzzled look on it's tiny face. "Alright, show me some of that fire power!" The pokemon unleashed an Ember attack, spraying Nelson with hot fire. Professor Pine backed up a bit. When the fire cleared, a singed Nelson blinked several times before shaking with excitement. "This is exactly what I need! A Pokemon that burns up with vigor, just like me! Yeah!" Nelson and his Flarab both began to flex, showing off their stuff.

Several minutes later, Professor Pine was seeing off Nelson and Flarab. She gave a small wave. "Alright Nelson, take care of that Flarab. And don't go getting into... too much trouble, okay?"

"Ha! Why would I be getting into trouble? Do I look like a trouble maker?" Asked Nelson, pointing at his own face, as if the word trouble was written on it.

"Heh heh... I'll... just see you two later. Try to keep in touch." And with another wave, Professor Pine exited into the estate, free from Nelson.

With a nod to his new found ally, Nelson turned and took his first steps out into the Mynto Region.

Facing down Taillow, Alex checked his Pokedex to learn his new pokemon's attacks.

Purrmew attacks Pokedex announced Attack 1: Growl

"Purrmew, use growl!" Alex commanded as Taillow attacked. Opening its mouth, the kitten let out what sounded more like a friendly purr than a fierce growl, but it had the desired effect, forcing Taillow to back off.

Purrmew attack 2: Scratch Pokedex continued. Leaping at Taillow, Purrmew slashed at the little bird with its claws, hurting it and knocking it to the ground.

Trainers obtain new pokemon by catching them in a pokeball Pokedex announced.

"I know that!" Alex snapped, grabbing an empty pokeball from his belt.

"Pokeball, go!" he cried as he threw the ball. Striking Taillow in the chest, the ball surrounded it with red light, absorbing it into the ball. After a few tense moments, the ball finally stopped quivering, showing that Taillow had been captured.

"All right!" Alex yelled as he celebrated with Purrmew, "I caught a Taillow!"

Sorry for the lateness, been busy and stuff :(

---

Rui is annoyed.

Nay, scratch that.

Rui is extremely annoyed.

Rui is about two centimetres from breaking the next camera and cameraperson that comes anywhere near her personal space, with a foot.

Grumbling under her breath, ducking another low flying dougal of yet another of the reporters dash away to grab a hapless trainer not even caring for any others who may be in the way. After all, this is big news, who really cares if one or two get their eye stabbed out exactly?

With fists clenched accompanying a look if contempt and anger, her slow progress starts to pick up with an air of extravgence as she starts to find her way of ground in this chaotic mess of people. Such frenzy over a few people from another region, hell there’s more reporters than trainers here!

Hissing something else with utter distain as she shoves one of the reporters aside, adding an innocent little “oospsie” to the mix before darting off again. Asides from that though, this would be considered far beyond the realms of light entertainment!

Oh and one guy got kicked for catching the skirt, ho ho.

Alas the ignorance of the media was not to last, choosing to approach only when the most indignant of looks is present. Waving gingerly as though to a small child does the cameraman before the actual reporter pipes in.

‘Oh dear girl you haven’t been interviewed yet! Come, come we have to get you on camera for the whole world to see when this goes live!’ her mic is clenched tight in her hand, violet eyes glittering with blatant excitement as her blonde hair bounces at the little child like dance for the thought of bagging yet another trainer.

‘I’m sorry but I am kinda buy, can it wait for a drama queen?’ Rui grumbles, moving her hair out the way as she storms off, at least until her arm is grabbed warranting an instant annoyed sound.

‘This is the once in the lifetime chance! You simply must stay a while!’ the reporter responds with glee, tugging a little harder before rambling near endlessly until the feeling of a hand on her own. Instantly, her attention is forced, looking at the hand.

‘Don’t touch me, I may be wearing what I am but that would nt excuse me from borrowing your equipment and clunking a few heads together for a way through. So please, let go.’

Not a word is given when the hand albeit reluctantly drops, if anything she looks slightly frazzled but being the first Trainer so far to snap back, understandable reeeeally.

All the better for someone else to have a little aid is blowing off some steam after the encounter, at least the camera guy was remotely courteous.

It takes a further ten minutes before finally enough crowd pushing leads to the stairs and the haven beyond the lab doors, no doubt there will be plenty of flashes of face on the news or something later given the sheer volume of cameras absolutely everywhere outside.

Sighing with relief with the door clicking shut behind her back, she starts further into the lab with the slight click of shoes since for some reason these people love shiny entrance floors.

‘Ah another one has run the gauntlet, are you one of our new trainers?’ a voice pipes in form nowhere.

Blinking a moment, Rui starts forward before spotting who it would assumed to be the new professor, either that or one of the assistants likes suits. Quickly glancing to the name tag and with a guilty, ah, she dips her head slightly.

‘Yeah, one of the ones from Kanto here, Rui Shinato. Professor Pine I assume?’

‘Yes, that would be me who hosts the research at this lab. Ah I see, there wasn’t too many female trainers who seemed to win, yes I believe I recognise you know. It was an Ice type you put in your request was it not?’

‘Yeah again, Altinbi. I wanted to go for something a bit different really since nobody ever seems to think of Ice types.’

‘True true, would you like to follow me then please dear, your Pokemon is this way.’

After a few more moments, Professor Pine enters a code into an odd looking contraption followed by a voice command.

‘Professor Pine, A-1-3-5-9-2, Altinbi.’

Quickly brushing some of her hair out the way, a Pokeball appears from a rather crudely disguised chute looking rather standard sides from the blue upper half instead of the standard red.

‘I assure that this is a normal Pokeball like any other, it’s just been modified ever so slightly to help keep the temperature for the Pokemon’s most active state and to limit stress. It isn’t often changes have to be made but is better than to risk harm is it not?’

Picking up it and three smaller normal ones, the Professor hands them over to the somewhat gingerly held out hands before reaching into her pocket.

‘They should tide you over for the time being, do you have a mobile phone at all? I have a number for this lab, should you need it for anything.’

Looking a tad spaced out for a moment (Must be the eee pokemeon :D) after clipping everywhere where it needs to be, here is a ‘um yes’ pulling out her own mobile.

‘Parents told me to get one before coming, just in case.’

‘Then please take this number, feel free to call any time you like within reason of course…. Now, would you like some help getting outside again? I’m sure that those hounds are enough for one run surely but it is up to you.’

‘If I can… I mean I don’t think they’d like me too much of a broke a camera or two, by accident of course!’ Ruui quickly adds with an innocent grin. Smash a camera in? neeeeever.

‘I can have my Gardevoir teleport you to the edge of town, well out of the way. Think it still has some left before needing a break from all you winners.’ The Professor responds with a quick gesture to which the said Pokemon appears.

‘I wish you luck, both from the mob outside and in tie to come’

‘Thanks, hopefully they won’t have got me too badly outside as well’

With a small wave of sheepishdom and the feeling of being slid rather than “beamed up”, Rui is promptly plonked outside the starting city, minus her transport and with a brand new Pokemon to play with.

‘Wonder if this little guy will like muffins….’

* If you recognise where I got that from you win a muffin.

OOC: Back from the break...

IC: Lex glanced around at his surroundings as he strode along the path. Several trainers, apparently just starting their journeys too, were walking in the distance. Ahead, on the horizon, picturesque mountains stood below a gleaming sun, but just down the path ahead was a large green forest. The branches of the closest trees waved in the wind.

As he entered the forest, engulfed by the shade of the overhanging branches and leaves, Xander kept a vigilant watch around him, both cautiously and curiously. He held the pokeball containing Lufro in his hand ready for battle. The sound of a branch snapping nearby stopped him in his tracks, and he glanced around ahead, waiting. Something brushing against the back of his head made him jump, awkwardly twisting round a hundred and eighty degrees as he pratfalled to the ground and stared up, fearfully expecting to see a spider. He sighed with relief as there was nothing there, just a low hanging branch.

After getting back up and sending out Lufro, a pair of glowing eyes in the shadows caught his eye. The eyes slowly moved closer, and Xander and Lufro waited, ready for their first encounter.

~Oregano Forest, Mynto~

The sun barely pierced the emerald canopy above Satchel, tinting everything in lime green. He closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath. Ah, what a life this was! Dodging reporters that were as vicious as week-starven Mightyena, hurdling past them as fast as one could!

But he had gotten past them, and now his journey could truly begin!

The fresh scent to pine, oak, and ash filled his nostrils. He looked around. Everwhere green foliage mixed with hardy brown trunks, intertwining to make thick walls of plants, covered in thorns and flowers.

Satchel listened eagerly to the songs of the forest. Caws rose from the ground - from Taillow snatching at their prey. Long songs floated down towards him, from Pidgeys, Swablu, and Perappu.

He smiled softly. This was what life should be like!

But wait? What was his pokemon? He grinned sheepishly for totally forgetting. He still didn't even know what the thing was!

He quickly reached down to his belt, raised it and said softly, "Pokeball, go."

He peered eagerly as the red and white sphere released a red aura. The aura slowly formed into a four legged creature. Seconds later, it was a full fledged pokemon. But what was it?

Noah trekked down the path leading out of Oregano Town, leaving the congregation of reporters and trainers alike behind. It was still a bit warm for him, and a thin mist of sweat had accrued upon his brow which, with every removal, seemed to return immediately. He again attempted a shifting of his coats to find a more comfortable stance but it proved futile, so he instead simply tried to ignore the heat.

The grounds began to change slightly, taking on a lightly forested complexion. Copses of deciduous trees and bushels of shrubs were bespattered across the landscape, occasionally stirred by a rustling of some creature within. Every so often Noah would spot a Rattata or some other small, grassland Pokemon dive in or out of a cluster of foliage in a frantic yet methodic fashion. Specs of forms overhead rode thermals and flapped into the distance, too far for the young man to identify them.

After a good many minutes, Noah released his Spectrin, which he decided to name Wraith, and watched as it floated silently through the air beside him, its spine forever bent in a slight arch and skeletal countenance looking nothing but dismal. The trainer knew a bit about the breed, having researched it and other ghost Pokemon quite a lot in the past. He knew at least that they haunted sunken ships and graveyards of vessels on the seafloor, floating, not swimming, through the water. He also remembered that they learned techniques that dealt with the mystic manipulation of the water via ghost energy.

Noah had always been fully interested in ghost-type Pokemon, having worked in the famous Pokemon Tower and Lavender Town. He had seen and interacted with them on much more than one occasion, developing a mutual affinity with them in the process. He was oblivious as to where he could encounter ghost-types in Mynto, but he meant to find out, for he longed to capture them the most.

Some time later, one of those indiscernible shadows in the sky became quite recognizable. A scruffy, short-feathered bird baring white, black, red, and brown plumage and a short hooked beak fluttered down some one hundred feet ahead on the road. It had a blazing glare in its eye and raked the dirt a few times with its cruel talons, tail feathers twitching in silent fury.

It was a Spearow, of course, a common enough bird for Noah to know. They were infamous for being quite territorial, and this particular specimen had apparently claimed this bit of land for itself, and was most unhappy with its bipedal trespasser and his floating accomplice. It let out a few high-pitched, shrieking squawks before tearing off the ground and through the air, angular eyes narrowed in intimidation.

Noah smirked and took a few hops back as Spectrin, knowing its own role, floated forward. The trainer knew that the foe would be impervious to any ghost-type techniques, so he would have to rely on his specter’s water half.

“Very well, Wraith,” he said calmly. “Start things off with a leer attack to shake it up a bit.” Spectrin complied, shifting around a bit and directing its eye sockets at the oncoming enemy. Pinpoints of red light sparked into existence within those two black depths and the Spearow faltered for a moment, a mere second, before regaining composure and charging on.

“More resilient than I thought,” Noah mused. “Wait until it is upon you and then dodge downwards and blast it with a water gun.” He rubbed his chin in contemplation of the order he had given, anxious to see if the little maneuver would prove fruitful. The Spearow streaked in with its beak ready to jab, but the prepared skeletal fish dropped in a surprisingly fluid motion, doing a half-barrel roll. Though Spearow missed with its beak, it reflexively snapped its talons downwards, raking Wraith’s bony composure as it, in turn, released a blast of frigid water.

Spearow was struck square in the belly and was knocked several feet into the air, where it flapped wildly to try and get control in its flight path back. It maneuvered and went upwards, dropping an evil glare to Wraith and Noah, and took off. Though a brave bird, it evidently was not in the mood to get drenched again. Noah clicked it is tongue in defeat in knowing that Spearow was most likely not weak enough, and by then was too far away, to capture.
“A good first exhibition, Wraith. Hopefully our next opponent will prove a bit more stalwart,” the trainer stated. They continued down the path.

Bandit stared at the boy that had gained his Pokemon just after his own trainers. His piercing eyes scanned the boy before dropping its gaze to the Pokemon huddled in his arms. It took Kai a moment for her to realize Bandit had turned its attentions from the cameras and was staring at something behind them. She turned to stare at the boy and Bandit found himself turning to accommodate Kai’s new stance.

“You’re another one, then.” Kai said simply. She directed her gaze from the boy to the Pokemon in the same way Bandit had earlier. “Cute Pokemon, doesn’t look much, but I can tell it’s got some fight in it. Just like Bandit here!” She ran a hand over the haws head and grinned proudly. “This ‘un doesn’t look like much either, wouldn’t think ‘im a fighter would you. But I can tell ya I just know he has some guts.”

“So uh…do you two know eachother?” One of the reporters asked curiously eyeing the pair and their Pokemon.

“Huh?” Kai turned, almost forgetting that the cameras had been watching them. She gave a dazzling grin and flung an arm around the boy’s shoulders. “Nope, but I have a feeling were gonna get along just fine! Right, mate!”

Bandit growled and flew from between the two and landed on Kai’s other shoulder. He glared daggers at the boy and his new Pokemon before turning away. The bird was jealous. It had only just met its trainer and already her affections were concentrated on someone she had only just met. But he wasn’t going to let that get between him and Kai, he would prove his worth to the trainer if it meant working himself to the max.

A slender finger bumped his beak and Bandit squawked. “Hey Bandit, why you looking so down, little dude? C’mon, let’s get a move on, eh? Got a long journey ahead of us and the others have already had enough of a head start.” She turned to the boy and gave him another grin. “Y’coming or are you gonna stay here and entertain the public for a little while longer?”
