The Suprising Tourny Match Win

Minedreigon

A monument to all your sins
ok, so this is my first War story. I choose this match due to the sheer fact that I pulled off a win against a player who had ruined me many a time. This is by far one of my fave matches. Bear in mind my opponent made a few mistakes, but we will get there at the end.

Looking at my opponents team, he is probably going to lead with Keldeo, predicting my lead of Mamoswine. I send in Mamo as i have a trick up my sleave.
Ringer978 joined.
Battle between Flames Remain 1 and Sonny Cat started!
Go! Keldeo-Resolute!
Sonny Cat sent out Mamoswine!
Turn 1
Keldeo-Resolute used Surf!
It's super effective! The opposing Mamoswine hung on using its Focus Sash!
The opposing Mamoswine lost 99.8% of its health!
The opposing Mamoswine used Endeavor!
Keldeo-Resolute lost 99.7% of its health!

That hopefully caught him off gaurd. I now make a mistake by using ice shard in an attempt to finish Keldeo off, considering it could be dangerous later on.

Turn 2
Keldeo-Resolute, come back!
Go! Aegislash!
Aegislash floats in the air with its Air Balloon!
The opposing Mamoswine used Ice Shard!
It's not very effective... Aegislash lost 9.3% of its health!
Aegislash's Air Balloon popped!

Well I was stupid. At this point i decide to sack mamoswine since i can still beat heatran if mamo dies with Rotom W, the only problem is it could be a problem if Hetran is a SPdef set.

Turn 3
Aegislash used Shadow Sneak!
A critical hit! The opposing Mamoswine lost 0.2% of its health!
The opposing Mamoswine fainted!
Sonny Cat sent out Rotom-Wash!

At this point i could potentially discover Aegis set. If it is scared out by will o wisp and goes into celebi to status absorb, its likely the SD set. If it uses Shadow Ball its the mix set. Predicting a switch i use Volt Switch

Turn 4
Aegislash, come back!
Go! Celebi!
The opposing Rotom-Wash used Volt Switch!
It's not very effective... Celebi lost 10.1% of its health!
The opposing Rotom-Wash went back to Sonny Cat!
Sonny Cat sent out Genesect!
The opposing Genesect's Download raised its Special Attack!
Celebi restored HP using its Leftovers!

Well this tells me that the Aegi is most likley an SD set. Thats good news. I am 100% sure hetran is coming in next, so i just use Uturn. Its at this point that im beggining to think i might lose.

Turn 5
Celebi, come back!
Go! Heatran!
The opposing Genesect used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Heatran lost 7.8% of its health!
The opposing Genesect went back to Sonny Cat!
Sonny Cat sent out Gyarados!
The opposing Gyarados intimidates Heatran!
Heatran's Attack fell!
Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!

Gyarados does indeed stop Hetran doing much, so I am free to set up a DD. At this point i was unaware of Toxic. Boy i was worried...

Turn 6
Heatran, come back!
Go! Landorus-Therian!
Landorus-Therian intimidates the opposing Gyarados!
The opposing Gyarados's Attack fell!
The opposing Gyarados used Dragon Dance!
The opposing Gyarados's Attack rose!
The opposing Gyarados's Speed rose!

If ive learned anything its that Scarf Lando T often carries Stone Edge. Prediciting this i mega evolve, knowing that it could be unexspected.

Turn 7
Gyarados has Mega Evolved into Mega Gyarados!
The opposing Gyarados breaks the mold!
Landorus-Therian used Stone Edge!
A critical hit! The opposing Gyarados lost 49.7% of its health!
The opposing Gyarados used Dragon Dance!
The opposing Gyarados's Attack rose!
The opposing Gyarados's Speed rose!

Thing are looking very good for me now. trust me, i dont 100% sweep from here. But i come close.

Turn 8
The opposing Gyarados used Waterfall!
It's super effective! Landorus-Therian lost 100% of its health!
Landorus-Therian fainted!
Go! Aegislash!

Now im scared. Im unsure if 1,5 EQ kills shield form Aegis. There was only 1 way to find out...

Turn 9
The opposing Gyarados used Earthquake!
It's super effective! Aegislash lost 90.7% of its health!
Aegislash fainted!
Go! Tyranitar!
A sandstorm kicked up!

Uh oh. From the last match i know that this thing is mega and bulky. I pray to god he tries a DD. I can deal with this thing should Gyarados dies anyway. Its kedleo that scares me.

Turn 10
Tyranitar has Mega Evolved into Mega Tyranitar!
The opposing Gyarados used Waterfall!
It's super effective! Tyranitar lost 87.6% of its health!
Tyranitar used Dragon Dance!
Tyranitar's Attack rose!
Tyranitar's Speed rose!
The sandstorm rages.
The opposing Gyarados is buffeted by the sandstorm!

Well, that was lucky. This is a mistake on the opponents behave. They realised all too late...

Turn 11
Flames Remain 1: phew
The opposing Gyarados used Waterfall!
It's super effective! Tyranitar lost 12.4% of its health!
Tyranitar fainted!
The sandstorm rages.
The opposing Gyarados is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Flames Remain 1: oh yeah damn
Go! Keldeo-Resolute!

The thing that worries me. If its scarf, i could be in abit of trouble. Lets see...
Turn 12
The opposing Gyarados used Earthquake!
Keldeo-Resolute lost 0.3% of its health!
Keldeo-Resolute fainted!
The sandstorm rages.
The opposing Gyarados is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Flames Remain 1: well ****
Go! Celebi!

Alot of pressure is taken off my back at this point. What comes in next baffles me. WHy not send in Celebi earlier? Was he fearing the bite?

Turn 13
The opposing Gyarados used Ice Fang!
It's super effective! Celebi lost 56.4% of its health!
Celebi used Thunder Wave!
The opposing Gyarados is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
The sandstorm rages.
Celebi is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The opposing Gyarados is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Celebi restored HP using its Leftovers!

I did say this wasnt a total sweep. I think Bite would of killed, explaining why he didnt bring in Celebi earlier.

Turn 14
Celebi used Giga Drain!
It's super effective! The opposing Gyarados lost 26.2% of its health!
The opposing Gyarados had its energy drained!
The opposing Gyarados fainted!
The sandstorm subsided.
Celebi restored HP using its Leftovers!
Sonny Cat sent out Genesect!
The opposing Genesect's Download raised its Special Attack!

At this point i have a glimer of hope on deafeating the guy who beat me almost all the time. I have to predict well though. Something i dont do this turn.

Turn 15
Celebi, come back!
Go! Heatran!
The opposing Genesect used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Heatran lost 6.7% of its health!
The opposing Genesect went back to Sonny Cat!
Sonny Cat sent out Rotom-Wash!
Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!

I go for Volt switch next, predicting Celebi to come in. This next moves tells me something...
Turn 16
Heatran used Protect!
Heatran protected itself!
The opposing Rotom-Wash used Volt Switch!
Heatran protected itself!
Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!

I learn that this is a Spdef Tran as it has protect. Now thati know this, lets go for hydro pump to see if he predicted another volt switch.

Turn 17
The opposing Rotom-Wash used Hydro Pump!
It's super effective! Heatran lost 47.2% of its health!
Heatran used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around the opposing team!
Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!

Yay! Ill need to kill it soon, i dont want it to have like roar and shuffle the team along taking rock damage. Please dont miss...

Turn 18
Heatran used Protect!
Heatran protected itself!
The opposing Rotom-Wash used Hydro Pump!
Heatran protected itself!
Heatran restored HP using its Leftovers!
Turn 19

After this I predict him to switch after seeing the hydro and use volt switch to sned in talon, to pull of a banded U turn.

Heatran, come back!
Go! Celebi!
The opposing Rotom-Wash used Volt Switch!
It's not very effective... Celebi lost 10.9% of its health!
The opposing Rotom-Wash went back to Sonny Cat!
Sonny Cat sent out Talonflame!
Pointed stones dug into the opposing Talonflame!
Celebi restored HP using its Leftovers!

Perfect. Lets go for U turn now. Im sure he may stay in predicting a bulk up or some setup move to use Twave. That would be ok though.

A critical hit! It's super effective! Celebi lost 51.7% of its health!
Celebi fainted!
The opposing Talonflame went back to Sonny Cat!
Sonny Cat sent out Rotom-Wash!

Sonny Cat: 2-1
Flames Remain 1 left.

This was a fun battle and i feel it went OK. Bear in mind that my opponent made some mistakes. Like not bringing in his Celebi earlier, or not expecting Mega Dos and using EQ rather than Stoned Edge. It was fun either way :). It also told me that i was a better battler than i once was. I have improved :)

"Hax strikes me" Yeah, that's true for this match. And you're quite a pro, considering what you could predict succesfully.

Well, you don't have to say that the opponent (or you) made mistakes, every player makes them in most battles, and they are easily detected.

For example, a few weeks ago I had a Gen 4 battle (with the consoles and DS cards, not in simulator) and I made the Mistake of starting a Calm Mind War against a Cresselia with a PARALYZED Suicune (Cresselia had used Thunder Wave). I could defeat Cresselia by switching to Venusaur, using Sleep Powder (it landed, that's hax), using Swords Dance and landing a critical Power Whip (that was superhax and did an OHKO). Then my opponent made the Mistake of expecting non-scarfed Heatran to outspeed Venusaur and Heatran got a powerful Earthquake, so I OHKOed again.

The battle was unfortunately stopped by external causes after a few other turns (in these turns a DD Gyarados took Venusaur down with Ice Fang) and we made it a Draw (we had similar chances of winning, so we agreed on that) by forfeiting both in the same turn.
