Who else noticed the wicked A water in the game. It's in that one game-play movie. It makes me want to not only surf, but dive, whirlpool, and waterfall. BRING BACK WHIRLPOOL.

Any word on the old HM being in the game?

I'm talking about the water graphics in this game. They're amazing. I was just saying that I wish in the new generations we could fully utilize the ocean, including whirlpools.

But, Whirlpool was and IS useless...but it's a nice idea...
Waterfall is easily beaten by Surf: 95 > 80
Dive is just a Water version <Less powerful too...I think> of Fly, Bounce, and Dig...
Surf is the best...

Yah, I can really see how talking about Diamond/Pearls water graphics, how they look awesome, and even how cool whirlpools would look ALL would fit beautifully into the GSC disc. That all makes perfect sense.

Heh, but Waterfalls and whirlpools, while cool, really ate up your moveslots. And if you didn't have them, it was very annoying. I wouldn't mind thm if you didn't need HMs, but then they'd be pointless. Except whirlpools could suck you in and get bigger when it rains. Although, I guess that might not work too well.

What we do need, however, is Headbutt's out of battle effect. ^^

Anyway, the less HMs the better. They make for bad movesets =[

That's a joke right? There are already too many Water HMs already...Surf and Dive is enough...Waterfall's annoying too...it's so useless and weak...HM is actually the only HM move you'll put on a competive Pokemon, not a HM slave.

If you are talking about past games, then yes surf beats waterfall...but this generation with the type changes waterfall is an easy and useful physical water move with a good base power for those ever so hated water physical sweepers like Feraligator, which makes waterfall much more worthy of honor.

Also, dive is equal to dig, it is just a different type. While they all avoid attacks on the first turn (usually), fly has more base power and a slightly lower accuracy than dig and dive...and bounce has slightly more power than dive and dig with less accuracy but it is also great for a paralyze...so you cannot really compare the three too much.

Truthfully, I don't care much for whirlpool...it's only use was to get to lugia in GSC...and now that we are in the age of D/P where we no longer have the Whirl Islands in this region we don't need a whirlpool TM. It just isn't that strong of an attack...even clamp beats it, and it is not needed in the overworld either.
