(PsiUmbreon approved of this club.)

You click the link, waiting for the page to load. A strange musical sound starts to drift to your ears. *dun, dun, dun* You recognize it as The Phantom of the Opera overture. As you gaze in wonder at the page, you look down and see a teenager dressed in dress with full pink skirts looking up at you. This is what she says:

Welcome fellow lovers of theater. If you like theater, acting, plays, and the like this is the club for you.

If you are an actor or actress, a member of a stage crew, or just plain interested in acting, or like discussing stage shows join by all means!

For those who wish to know what a Thespian is here’s a definition:

thespian >adjective relating to drama and the theater. >noun an actor or actress.
-ORIGIN from the Greek dramatic poet Thespis (6th century bc)

Rules:
1) No flaming or bashing. This means other people or characters.
Ex:
Poster 1: Oh, Yente! She’s a vile woman! Tzitiel with Lazar? :shudder:
Poster 2: Is that so?! Well I happen to like Yente!
:flame war ensues:
If you dislike a character, say you dislike that character and leave it at that. Perhaps give a reason or two why you dislike him/her.
2) Spamming=/=no no. Do not spam.
3) Try and use proper grammar. No l33t.
4) If you want to start a topic on a certain play or musical, please include a link to a site that gives a summary if you didn’t give one yourself. Not everyone is familiar with every single theater piece created.
5) Don’t join just because you think a certain movie actor or actress is hott and you have no interest in theater.
6) Anyone can start a new topic if the old one has more than ten posts/and or it has been up for three days.

Topic: (It’s the beginning so I’ll start easy) What is your favorite stage production?
I would have to say Phantom of the Opera. Why? The music is so grand and the plot is pretty good. And the actors can’t be flat or the production is flat. (But as all thespians know, if one show’s actors or actresses are bad, it doesn’t matter WHAT they are doing.)

Ooh, I would love to join! I was a Thespian back in high school and did both some acting and stage work.

My favorite play I did would have to be either Dracula or Guys & Dolls!

I'll join! I'm in drama at my school, and I love to act.

On Topic: I'll go into detail about this. We have a theatre in my small town. It's called the Star Theater, and many a play and musical has been hosted there. My favorite one that I've went to would be the Star production of The Velveteen Rabbit. I almost cried near the end of it.

Alright. Both of you are accepted. :does a fancy bow with a cape flourish: Velcome, fellow Thespians.

Alright, sorry for the corny Dracula joke.

On topic: (I know I already answered but..) My second favorite musical is Fiddler on the Roof. Mainly because it was the first "real" Thespian production I was in. I didn't have an acting part but I was an assient stage manager.

Holy crap, it was my first real production I was in as well. I was only a random villager in it.

My second favorite play would be the one that my Drama class is practicing to perform in front of the Elementary schoolers. The play is called "The Witch's Spell", and I play the role of the first Queen.

I guess my second favorite would be...A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was a pretty cool play to act in. I was Cobweb (fairy) and all of us fairies had to be on rollerskates.

I wish I was one.. I wanted to be Fruma-Sarah so bad... But not after I saw the costume. It turned out to be a cross between a pianta and a punk rocker..

I heard the next play the Thespian Society (or to the commoners, Drama Club) is doing is called "Once Upon a Playground". Carlan will perfect as the lead. She has quite a honker! :D

One thing. If I had to act on rollerskates, you can rest assured that I'd fall and break my neck on the first practice with them.

Back on topic: My third and final favorite was the play "Dracula" that I went and saw when I was a younger girl. One of the actors in the play was none other than my fifth grade Science teacher, and he did a really good job acting.

Well I really enjoyed doing Dracula at my school mostly because it was a small cast (and so there were little cast changes like people dropping out of the plays or getting kicked out). In Dracula, I played Miss Wells (the maid).

Hmm... Well, honestly, Fiddler was my first and only exeperince. And I'm hooked for life. Now I'm wieghing the options of going to college to become a vet or run away to joing a theatre troupe. Not that I could, anyways.

Edit:
Fiddler once inspired an essay I had to write. You see, I had to write this dialogue for English. This was like only a couple of weeks after an event which was really funny. The incedent was that while practing "Chavaleh", Mackensie (Chava) almost hit Tracey (Hodel) when she did one of those kicks. Max (Hatmaker) and I was watching and he remarked that Chava was trying to killl Hodel. That inspired a funny then creepy essay about when Chava became a serial killer.

I'd love to go into the acting field one day, but I'm not so sure of what I want to do after high school.

We've had two understudies, adding and dropping lines, and all-around improvisions in "The Witch's Spell". My belief is that they're all for the better.

Well sad to say, I haven't done much acting within the last two years (well since I graduated from high school). But hopefully next semester in college, I will try to get back into the theatre.

I have never seen CATS. Perhaps someone else saw it.
