Wow this episodes really hit me in the feels, the writers and Bonnie's english VA really hit out of the park on this episode, i have grown newfound respect for Bonnie and have always liked her more than Max, i wished Tyrunt would have stayed small and had been wild i cried for Bonnie :(

Poor Bonnie. Forever trapped in a universe where aging up is only reserved to the monsters who evolve. She will never see that baby Tyrantrum ever again...

But don't worry. Dedenne will be with you forever and you will NEVER get another baby to take care of!

I very much enjoyed this episode. It was a nice bond that Bonnie had with Tyrunt/Tyrantrum, though I wished she would have joined her on the team.

I know it was obvious that Bonnie wasn't going to be able to keep Tyrunt/Tyrantrum, but I think it would have been neat to see someone like Bonnie keeping a Pokemon like that. I mean, it's the kind that you wouldn't think she would want to actually have at first glance.

It was pretty good. Bonnie and Tyrunt didn't really spend that long together to have formed such an emotional bond so it wasn't that sad when they had to say goodbye - which you knew was coming all along as the opening Scene was TRio stealing Tyrunt from the fossil lab (which is actually on in Ambrette Town and not Route 17). I don't really feel sorry for Bonnie as I find her character annoying. Pikachu, Laprus and Goodra all had sadder goodbye episodes than this.

5/10

Some other thoughts

1. Why was Ash's arm hanging over Clemont's chest in the tent. And why were they sleeping so close.
2. Tyrunt is a Dinosaur - Why does it have fur
3. Since when do Pokémon brush their teeth and why was Tyrunt the only Pokémon having it's teeth brushed
4. Pikachu was really cute when he was cleaning his face with that towel
5. Team Rocket actually won a battle - against Bunnelby (Dedenne was a given). Well I suppose that makes Serena's near loss in One for the Goomy a little less of an embarrasment.

I wish Bonnie wasn't saved and TR got away with Tyrunt...... I hate her.

Anyways, worst episode of the entire series like the other Bonnie episodes. I was smiling when Bonnie was crying. 1/10

I know how you feel. As I've said it's hard to feel sad for Bonnie when it was obvious from the start that the episode was going to end this way and she wasn't really with Tryunt long enough to form a close bond. In terms of time on screen there only about 10 minutes of them playing together before Team Rocket attacked and the episodes seems only to span the length of one day as Bonnie and tyrunt weren't shown sleeping together. Bonnie's having to say goodbye to Tyrant is also anti-climatic given we've already had the emotional goodbye between Ash and Goodra earlier in the series, which seems to have made fans angry about the loss of a strong Pokémon on Ash's team rather than tearful over saying goodbye to a friend. Plus I don't think anything can top the emotion in Pikachu's Goodbye when Ash thinks he has to say goodbye to Pikachu, or in the first movie when Pikachu thinks he's lost Ash forever. And obviously if like me you find Bonnie and irritating character then it's hard to find it emotional.

I don't think a Bonnie episode has failed to deliver for me as they are all great for different reasons. This one starts off similarly where Bonnie grows attached to a Pokémon and in this case is Tyrunt. Again, I like how caring and knowledgeable Bonnie is and it shows with her friendship with Tyrunt and the feeling was mutual as Tyrunt evolved into Tyrantrum to save Bonnie. Finally, that ending was heartbreaking but again Bonnie understands and let Tyrantrum stay with it's friends.

Great episode, onto the next one!

Good episode for Bonnie. Enjoyed it throughout. It was a little sad at the end, but it's good that Bonnie is aware of the situation. Good things come to an end at some point.

She's not old enough to be a trainer so it would have to belong to either Ash, Serena or Clemont. And she can barely take care of Dedenne. She did an even worse job at fighting Team Rocket than Serena did. I know it's not fair to be judgement but if she can't protect her Pokémon then she isn't much of a trainer.

To be completely fair...

1) Clemont was clearly going to catch it for her the same way he did to Dedenne.

2) They just like to make her Dedenne piss-weak, unlike the other members of the group.

3) Had she kept Tyrantrum, she would surely be barely on par against Ash's Pikachu.

Pikachu's already beaten a Gym Leader's Tyrunt which was probably stronger than this Tyrantrum. Pikachu has also beaten Regice and Latios. It's doubtful that Bonnie's Tyrantrum that would have just experienced playtime with Bonnie and little training could hold a candle to Pikachu.

2) They just like to make her Dedenne piss-weak, unlike the other members of the group.

Nobody ever trains Dedenne. He's never been in a real battle. What do you expect. Dedenne spends most of his time asleep in Bonnie's purse.

Let's go to the beach, each.
but I think it would have been neat to see someone like Bonnie keeping a Pokemon like that.

Imo, it wouldn't have been. She's not a trainer and Clemont hardly battles, so Tyrantrum would've wasted away and faded into obscurity in my view.

This was more emotional than I expected. I felt bad for Bonnie and I really like how Serena and Clemont were there for her.

...and then there was Ash, staring off into the distance. (just kidding, I know Ash cares too, but they really need to work on Ash/Bonnie)

Ash didn't have a reason to care about Bonnie. Episodes past he's had to say much harder goodbyes to his beloved Pokèmon and it's always been much more genuine than this. As I've pointed out it's not that many episodes ago that Ash released Goodra, and Goodra was with Ash much longer than Tyrunt Bonnie. That was very sad. During BW he almost says goodbye to Oshawott when he thinks Oshy wants to stay on Schalchop Island with Osharina. During the Orange Island Saga he released Laprus so it could be with it's family. In the Original series he released Butterfree, his first catch, so it can be with it's mate and start a family. And who can forget Pikachu's Goodbye, where he almost parts ways with Pikachu as he thinks it would be better for Pikachu to stay in the wild with other Pokémon - he almost has to leave his very best friend. Compared to those instances, which are much more genuine and sad, the sympathy that Bonnie is getting here is overrated and disproportionate. Even Team Rocket had to say Goodbye to Arbok and Weezing, Dustox and Cacnea (although they deserved the pain those separations caused them).

Bonnie's attitude when she learned she had to part ways with Tyrunt was spoiled, selfish and immature. Whenever Ash or another main character has had to say goodbye to a Pokémon it's always involved that character accepting that the parting is for the better and is in the best interest of their friend - It's a selfless and loving act. In Beyond the rainbow, it was Ash who suggested Goodra stay in the wetlands with it's friends, and in Pikachu's Goodbye it was Ash who tried to leave Pikachu as he felt Pikachu would be better off in the forest. In a poached ego Jessie and James tell Arbok and Weezing to go in order to protect them and in Crossing Paths Jessie released Dustox so it can be with it's mate.

By contrast in this episode Bonnie becomes bitter and unpleasant when she's told that Tyrunt has to stay in the laboratory. Everybody seems oblivious to the fact that 1) Tyrunt has a family here and wants to stay with them, 2) Tyrunt doesn't exist solely to play with Bonnie and 3) Bonnie wouldn't be able to look after him properly. It's plain selfish of her to want Tyrunt to leave it's family and travel with her simply so she won't have to feel sad at the fact that she'll never see it again. Why did she feel that anyway. Bonnie didn't know Tyrunt for that long to form such a close bond with it.

That being said it's perfectly reasonable for Ash not to "be there for her." In fact I'm surprised Serena was so comforting to her. If I were Ash I would have told her to grow up, stop being selfish and understand why this is for the best and remind her how I felt about Goodra. Ash and Goodra were together longer, and Ash didn't need a hug from Serena when those two said goodbye. If the anime has a serious recurring theme, it's that no matter how much you love someone you're always going to have to say goodbye to them eventually. And the more you love someone the more it's going to hurt. Grief is the price we pay for love.

Poor Bonnie. Forever trapped in a universe where aging up is only reserved to the monsters who evolve. She will never see that baby Tyrantrum ever again...

But don't worry. Dedenne will be with you forever and you will NEVER get another baby to take care of!

One more reason not to feel sorry for her. She had Dedenne to take care of and play with - Why did she need Tryunt. All the stuff she did with Tyrunt she could do with Dedenne. And in terms of getting another baby to take care of she does get "Squishy" AKA Zygarde core in XYZ. And she'll have to say goodbye to it too I imagine.

Rather a hard hitting ending to the episode. I nearly teared up when Bonnie had to say goodbye to Tyrantrum. It sucks to say farewell to somebody you grow closely with. These kinds of episodes are what I can relate to.

Hang in there Bonnie, you got the rest of your life to look forward to~

Again with the I feel sorry for Bonnie. Why do people seem to feel this episode is sadder than "Beyond the rainbow" where Ash said goodbye to Goodra, and was mature about it when all that happened here is Bonnie acting like a spoiled brat for having to part ways Tryunt whom she barely had much time to connect with (the episode seems to have only lasted a day). Yet this thread is full of "On bonnie how sad" while most of the comments in the thread for "Beyond the rainbow" is full of lamentations for Goodra because Ash no longer has a super powerful dragon type to spam rather than the fact that Ash too lost someone he'd grown close with (a lot closer than with Bonnie). As I've said the farewell was always coming. It was assured when we saw Team Rocket steal Tryunt from the facility in the first place. Bonnie needs really needs to grow up.

Hang in there Bonnie, you got the rest of your life to look forward to~

Yes she does. And that life will not include Tyrunt.

Sheesh TR, were you really going to let a child fall to her death like that? I know you guys are villains but I thought even you guys had limits.

In fairness, if such a thing as 'death by height' existed in the Pokemon universe, the heroes would have killed Team Rocket in cold blood every episode.

On a minor note, I liked Gourgeist actually getting to show off some power for once. I think she's barely got in a hit since she evolved (even her first battle deprived her the token 'evolution mandated super boost'), but here she turns Bunnelby into roadkill.

I can see why some might have complained about Dedenne though. Keep in mind he actually defeated Inkay in his debut episode (he struggled more than the usual, but still), here he's squashed like a bug. A rare case a hero Pokemon can't keep up it's skills with a TR one.

But hey. How often do you get to see some TR Pokemon thrashing some hero Pokemon for once?

The ending to me was quite well done (though I've only seen the sub so far). Sure Bonnie took it badly, but it was realistic to how a child acts, and that I feel made it more of a gut punch, especially since, even as a Tyrantrum, the Pokemon acted like an affectionate little dog.

Seeing Bonnie care for Tyrunt the way she did warmed my icy heart lol. I also thought the ending was pretty sad, with Bonnie not being able to keep the Pokemon she had bonded with. But then again, she wasn't even a trainer.
