I'm just glad that Golduck was finally colored the way it should be colored.

Despite everything, Captain Pikachu is STILL epic
Surprisingly interesting episode. I still visited Sea Mauville yesterday on ORAS for bonus points and it helped with the experience
The cotds looked really cool for some reason, and nice how they actually went for two complaints(of many) people have about Go: how Ash always helped him in the missions, and how Goh rarely fails. He was lucky to have a consolation prize
The Liepard plot twist was really clever too

Kinda kills the concept of the tokens in the first place, to get prizes for consolation. While here, it kinda makes sense given he placed second and displayed some good teamwork, he shouldn't have gotten any for the Raid battle given how he's the reason it was sabotaged.
??? It's not for consolation lmao, it's for his achievements. He got it for the raid battle because he managed to reach Articuno in the first place and battle it, what's not clicking?
Him being bad at teamwork is biting him in the ass anyway and now with losing to Tokio he's behind in PM and in actual danger of missing out. These last 2 missions have been setbacks for him like you wanted, but because he still got tokens for doing something it doesn't count? What kind of arbitrary classification is that?

Sea Mauville is so cool. Wouldn't you say?

He got 3 tokens despite his failure and blatant mess in the raid battle, regardless of managing to reach said Pokemon (which, when you think about it, shouldn't have been too hard for anyone)... and then he got only 2 tokens today despite being runner-up and giving a far better and selfless performance than the Raid battle.

See the problem? That Raid battle reward stands out poorly compared to today, where he got rewarded for failing, than what he got for actually semi-succeeding. At most he should have gotten just 1 for reaching Articuno (which should be negated by his sabotaging of the teamwork imo).

And no, I still don't consider either of those true failures because at the end of the day, he's not being held back in any way.
I'd say battling Articuno is much more significant than battling these other trainers here
And again, Goh did show semi competence when battling Articuno, he just didn't properly coordinate with Gary causing him to lose tokens on teamwork but gain tokens on his ingenuity, ability to battle Articuno and reach it.
He is being held back though, him failing to properly fulfill these tasks is causing him to significantly lag behind and in real danger of missing out, although he'll probably pull through
Just because he'll make it in the end doesn't negate these are significant setbacks for him

I watched Pokemon anime for 20 freaking years
The only positive are those Inazuma Eleven looking characters that could have been great rivals if they were introduced you know 1 year ago, not in the last 20 episodes. Not that I'm complaining cause we are reaching the end of this and the end of our dear coprotagonist story arc.

Really liked this episode a ton, going to wait for full context (it's always 10x better with it)

Inteleon focus, Tokio focus, angst with Go's issues over being setback by failing in some respects, him learning better teamwork but ultimately getting outclassed by Tokio. It felt dynamic and "main character"-like if that makes sense, I love these episodes that really show Go's character and human-side. On another note I really appreciate how Shigeru and Tokio are actual threats as rivals, I was sure Tokio would be your standard "weak" rival to complement Shigeru being the strong jerk but they didn't roll with that at all. You really feel Go's vulnerability and rootable aspects as a person.

My guess is they’re not giving Goh a “hard” loss because there is simply zero time for that at this point, same thing happened to Serena and her Showcases
I mean to me these count as pretty much hard losses lol
Goh getting 0 tokens would make no sense considering his skills and ingenuity. It would be unbelievable and stupid for him to go from 0 tokens to a chaser
And even besides Project Mew he's had plenty character based struggles and hardships
Heck he's been having a hard time and looked down upon ever since the first project Mew episode
It's just weird to see people claim Goh is making it without any struggle atleast when it comes to Project Mew

(You just said something so weird.)
Wow... Other people exist in this thing!
Haven't watched the episode, but who betrayed whom? Did Goh finally betray Ash?
It was just the Liepard kid pretending to be seeking help to get a cheap shot at Gardevoir. The entire reason the title is even titled like that.

Horace/Tim betraying Goh? Noooooooooooooooo. That'd be too much drama with what left Goh has for focus episodes.

Meanwhile, Ash truly cannot get a single PWC loss since he tied with Bea. What a horribly impossible scenario to think about!

I just ran, I ran all Night and Day ~
Go and Tokio's relationship is sweet

It hurts having to see my son Inteleon go down but at least it was to my daughter Gardevior and not to a Pokemon I dislike plus it had some nice moments in the episode

Those two Rival characters are jerks. I love them they should've appeared sooner

Fun episode

The issue is that the struggles don't feel as impactful. Especially if he is still earning multiple tokens even if he failed the mission. Clearly they are not gonna give him a big loss because they started and develop project mew late in the series and there is no time

Lover of underrated characters
The writers sure have a knack for making jerk rivals one off characters I see, Serena had Amelia and then this.
I wish they could make jerk rivals more frequent, sucks that they outright ignored Bede(But better than getting butchered like Marnie I guess :/ ). Jerk rivals make things more exciting, I'm not a fan of "Every rival is my friend!"

Sometimes I wonder why Sobble learned U-turn at all if it never gets used again. This probably wouldn't be a good place to use, but at least try to find one where it would so the Inteleon ep doesn't feel superfluous in the long run.

Say I'm fat again!
- Too bad the catgirl rival is a COTD. Or COT two weeks ?

- Why was that moron using stone edge in the middle of a broken rusty ship in the middle of the ship ?

- Good thing Inteleon can shot everyone now, that was only thing left fin his arc.

- Why are these many people not just forming their own groups and searching for Mew themselves ?

- How did Inteleon not get fried when Vikavolt fired a thunderbolt while it was in water ?

- Ash didn't participate so that's a plus.

- Goh lost but got two tokens... ok.

- Nice trap to see who's quick on thier feet.

6/10 Bang average episode.

Fun episode! I was surprised that Gardevoir took our Intelleon so easily lol, maybe just a bad match up for Goh?

I did find it a bit hilarious that every trainer matched their pokemon basically with their aesthetics lmao. I mean its a usual pokemon thing, but still made me chuckle.

I am excited for the regi episode!
