Well, this is basically a thread where you discuss/explain the TRUE best pokemon

Mewtwo- Potentially the best pokemon in the game due to its wide movepool and limited counters. It isn't only a special sweeper; it can also go physical, blow up on stuff and even outstall an entire team. It can Taunt at stuff like Lugia, and then Calm Mind up while its forced to Ice Beam you (or in G80's set; struggle). Unless Lugia is packing Aeroblast or Shadow Ball, Mewtwo is safe. Second highest USED speed in the game too, and the sole reason Deoxys-F exists (and it can't switch into Mewtwo unless Mewtwo uses Recover/Calm Mind/Taunt or Brick Break). To effectively counter Mewtwo you'll need to know its set. Second highest Special Attack in the game gets a mention as well. Regardless of what Smogon says about Groudon being the best pokemon in the game

Groudon- With 150 Base Attack, a STABed Earthquake, and other moves and stats to dazzle about. The two standards are a Choice Band set and a Swords Dance set. Both can tear any team apart under the right circumstances. It can potentially survive a Latios Ice Beam and OHKO back with HP Bug, or Thunder Wave random stuff. Or Fire Blast Skarmories. Groudon also has a base 100 HP and 140 Defense and no physical weaks, making it a decent physical wall. HOWEVER, most physical stuff in the uber metagame hurts Groudon a lot (CBMeteor Mash from Metagross, CBSuperpower from Deoxys-F, etc).

Lugia- Lugia has unbelievable walling abilities. 130 base defense, 154 base special defense and 106 base HP, properly EV'd give it enough defense to take stat-up'd attacks easily. It can easily set up a Reflect against physical attackers and waste them alive by Pressurizing them, and maybe Toxicing and then Whirlwinding them off. Or Calm Mind on special Sweepers and blow them away. Or abuse spikes with Rest/Sleep Talk/Whirlwind and maybe Roar. Or just hit hard with its oneofakind STAB Aeroblast.

My vote goes to Mewtwo

I'm voting for Mewtwo as well. As much as I like Groudon and Lugia, they can be messed up by too many things and need other Pokemon to back them up. Mewtwo is really a wild-card and can fit into any uber team. It benefits greatly from both sun and rain, and its stats are through the roof.

I withdraw reluctantly.
I'd go with Mewtwo because he is the best sweeper. He can also boltbeam, but his special attack is so high, that he can just hit opponents hard. His defenses are somewhat low to an ueber concept, but his speed can rid of his opponents rather quickly. He's also rather versatile.

I don't see why Kyogre is not on the list. He has the best moves for him just right within his reach. He gets Surf which is powered up by Drizzle, and Thunder which never misses. He can also Calm Mind to increase his durabilty and power up all of his special attacks. I think Kyogre is a good enough Pokemon.

Kyogre gets OHKOed by Groudon's Earthquake after a Swords Dance, and Mewtwo's Thunder dents it VERY, VERY hard. Kyogre also needs the rain to be any good, whereas Groudon does just fine without the sun.

I don't see why hardly anyone uses Aeroblast on Lugia. :(

Anyway, I vote Mewtwo, it's underrated as an uber and is perhaps one of the best in the game.

I would love to say Tauros but It isnt.

I will say Groudon.

It can take out most of the UBERs and makes light play of Standards and laughs manically at Borderline and Below.

Anikin

Rebel
I say Registeel but since he isn't in the options of this Poll I would say Groudon because of his hight attack, his coolness, his super defense and ability.

This is actually based on a small debate-like thing going on in a thread in Smogon. Kyogre goes in 'other'

From Smogon:

Not the best pokemon in the game, that title goes to Groudon. Kyogre is horribly unversatile but a very great sweeper because his trait is there pretty much only to help himself unlike Groudon who is a team player. Kyogre is a ******* and pretty hard to take down.

Because Special Lugia > physical Lugia. :(

There is no freaking 'best' Pokemon, and Legendaries suck, hard.
