• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Must be, since my birthday isn't for another several months.
The dog is gone from Route 15, too.

They're actually really pretty, now that I can see them clearly.

So weird. The fog is gone in my game as well.

Perhaps March 19th is a birthday for one of the creators?

Having played Pokemon since the early days - back in 1998 - I've grown up with the series like everyone else.

The Issui region might just be my favorite yet. I haven't fully explored it yet, but I love what I see. Everything just feels fresh and new. My problem with Sinnoh was the fact that I felt bored with most of the innovations and the towns and cities just felt sub-par after a while. I can't say that I hate every aspect about Sinnoh, but it is my least favorite region.

Johto has always been my favorite. Gold and Silver were as good as Pokemon got for years. The cities were creative. I feel that same energy in Unova. Crestalia City is mindblowing. Icirus City is so lovely and serene. The townsfolk NPC's are smarter. I the rain, swampy areas and seasonal cycles are really creative and nice eyecandy.

I also noticed the fog in my game as well. I wonder what happened to it?

i agree. while sinnoh was fun to battle it was really boring with graphics

the fog lifts if its your b day, or maybe its someone who helped create the games b daay

I find the Unity Tower to be pretty sweet. I wonder if anybody will be able to complete all the levels.

Why so serious?
Has the fog's origin been confirmed? I would assume its just random in the Autumn and other seasons like the rain.

Why so serious?
Ahhh, didn't see that in the book 'till now.

I don't know why but the Hipster city pissed me off to no end. (Nacrene)

"Dude, when those capitalistic pigs left the city we totally turned their warehouses into these like totally rad studios for our artistic commune!"

"I'm a poet... I write poems."

Somehow I bet if we could see the sprites legs better they would all be wearing skinny jeans.

And lemme guess, they all went to school for "graphic design" and they all love bands too obscure for us to have heard of them?

Like I've said before: I really like Unova, but I dislike that it's based on New York. Some people asked why. I have my reasons.

I mainly dislike some of the comments I've seen about Unova being New York. They border on chauvinism and that's kinda bad. That's my only gripe about the whole Unova/New York issue. But it's pretty common for Americans to be chauvinistic anyway.

And it has nothing to do with the fact that I thought Unova was based on Rotterdam. Really. I think I would have somewhat disliked Unova if it really turned out to be Rotterdam.

I don't want to start a flame war. I didn't think my comment about New York would get so many reactions. Sorry if I hurt any of your feelings. It wasn't intentional.

Roadblocks: every game with a story has to have some way of making sure you progress in order and see various events in order. Black and White are no exception. I mentioned a long time ago that I was curious if Unova's roadblocks were believable or annoying, and now that I have the games, I can judge for myself.

I really enjoyed most of Unova's "roadblocks" so far. The linear nature of most of the game probably helped cut down on the amount of roadblocks they needed, too. I'm only at Nimbassa so far, so later obstacles are not available to me to judge, but so far my only complaints are:

1) The guy who won't let you leave for Route 3 until you have the Trio Badge because the next route is too dangerous for a kid without a Badge. Does he really expect me to believe that everyone on and past this route has a Badge? Even the kindergartners? I know you need a way of making sure you have a Badge before you pass, but I think it would have been better if he'd mentioned Fennel right away, saying something like, "Fennel is looking for a strong trainer to help her with something, maybe you could help if you are able to get the Trio Badge . . ." or something like that. I guess it's on par with the previous "get the 1st Badge roadblocks" aside from Hoenn/Sinnoh.

2) The "problem up ahead" on Route 4 could have just been left as an undisclosed problem, instead of mentioning that "it should be taken care of by the time you beat Castelia Gym" or whatever the guy said to make sure you knew exactly what storyline thing you had to complete before progressing. I'm pretty sure most people would figure out they had to beat the gym before going forward without that.

3) The guy who says it's too sandy to progress in the Ancient Castle. This is a minor one, but I would have preferred if they showed this rather than telling - actually cover the steps in sand until it's available or something. Again, it's a minor one, and a good excuse, just would have liked the visual rather than verbal block.

4) The bridges out of Nimbassa. One says you have to ask a GymLeader to lower the drawbridge. Why? Because apparently the only times the drawbridge lowers is if Clay says so. The Marvelous Bridge is "being checked" but the duration of the check can be ridiculously long if it takes a long time to get through the games - it's ok, just not the best it could be.

Anything not mentioned here up through Nimbassa I considered a good roadblock. Some were even pretty awesome, like Bianca dragging you off to the Music Hall or Burgh blocking Team Plasma's escape route while you chased them down in Pinwheel forest.

'Cuz it's a post-game location, meaning no Gym or key tasks to your quest or anything, and because all the people are scared of Kyurem and hide in their houses at night.

My only complaint is that there's a couple of houses that have an "upstairs" access to them. I would have liked to go up there. Even if there would be no point to it. Just to able to go there for the sake of going there.

But hey, it looks nice, and the sheer amount of detail they put into these cities/towns is staggering.

in the guide book it says that it will go away for your birth day

Except that yesterday, the fog was completely gone from Routes 14 and 15. I know it wasn't my birthday yesterday, and everyone else who went to those routes yesterday also reported that there was no fog.

That's what we were talking about.

And no, it hasn't been figured out.

Wait, please enlighten me. How is saying Unova/Castelia is New York chauvinism?

The Unova region is awesome. There are so many cool places in it!

I felt like a little kid, my mouth wide open in amazement, as I watched my character run across the Skyarrow Bridge. ^-^

I'm loving everything about Unova. Even its desert is somewhat enjoyable to me, and I usually hate them. It's so unique with its bridges and mountains. I'm not through the entire game yet, so I might not like some other parts of it, but I seriously doubt it.

From what I've seen, Unova is amazing.

Each town has its own feel and look, more so than any region before. Sinnoh's cities seemed cookie-cutter to me, with a different "skin" on each city to go with the theme there. Hoenn was more like, with each town and city way different from the last. Johto and Kanto all seemed the same as well.

And I like how the gym leaders not only interact with each other, but also help you in stopping the evil team. In every other region, I always felt that it was weird that the gym leaders never talked about other gym leaders or helped you with your quest to stop Team X. In Hoenn and Sinnoh, only the champions help you, not the leaders (well, Wallace helps in Ruby/Sapphire but then in Emerald he becomes champion anyway so). It gives them more depth and character. It's great!

And I adore the geography of the region. I don't feel it's 98% forests like Kanto and Johto, nor mostly water like Hoenn nor mostly mountain like Sinnoh. It's diverse and wonderful!

AND THE MUSIC OH GODS YES
