You only have to capture one legendary Pokemon to become a Pokemon Master

Latias will watch all of Ash's friends and Pokemon and experiences and it will be moved to such a degree that it tells every other legendary it knows that Ash is the Beedrill's knees

I watched Pokemon anime for 20 freaking years
Okay lets do a review.

-For a first episode it's not bad however I really hope, we do not rush things and I'm afraid they will

-Not catching Latias it's not a tragedy, Ash is not that looser like Goh, also why do you want Ash to catch it? First of all, it will only show for 11 episodes and also other Pokemon would not get screentime and speaking of that...

-Donphan, Noivern and Sceptile where pretty good in this episode ,and this rotation thing looks good, this is what Journeys should have done...

-This opening was lazy....

-Team Rocket was like their old self, also this was like the Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh days, a first plan that fails quick and a second more complicated plan that fails due to bad luck... Also Jessie used Wobuffet so that's good can they use their old Pokemon too?

-Also they got a third aparition in the Paldea segment (Shame they're not going to be there) However... it fails again to understand the lore of Pokemon SV, Koraidon is a secret Pokemon that few people knows the existance of.... specially in his full Power form, why the f*** there is a book that has info of him? it makes no sense... I really expect a disaster if the next anime focuses in SV...

Eh, this ep is not actually that bad frankly.

Although the ending’s sort of weird since in the very last few frames, it shows us that the same Latias is looking towards Ash from a distance. Might not be the last we see of her? Eh idk. Could be nothing, but it really looks like Latias is starting to follow him. At least in my eyes and from my own interpretation.

good episode! Ash rotating his pokemon from different regions is what JN should've been from the jump, but glad to see it happening now at least. TR was funny, enjoyed the extra personality/facial expressions for everyone across the board

I don't get the big deal with this being a completely random Latias....did they say/show anything about the movie and this mini series (idk if they did)? If not, then are people just upset that their assumptions were wrong? interesting lol it'd be weird if they don't do anything with Latias following Ash throughout these eps. I bet they'll be BFFs by the end

OP and ending criticism is fair, but other than that, this episode was solid. enjoy the ride ppl!

You are awesome!
The episode gets a 7. It isn't perfect, but it was decent enough. The Pokemon shown were good, Team Rocket was okay. The opening is unforgivable though honestly.

I mean no disrespect when I say I legitimately could make an OP like that in about a week, save for the last shot obviously.

It’s not even a good overall montage of the show it was 90% OS clips

Not specifically you, but most of you interpret things differently or totally wrong and so develop hopeless expectations. It was clear from day 1 that it would be a special with heavy nostalgia. They posted literally a poster, featuring only the OG trio, only Ash mons. After 25 years, since Ash's story is ending, it was clear that they would go to the "returning to our root" route. It started with OG, it ends with OG. This special do not care about kids from today. Its a farewell to us, who followed the Anime since 90's, who were there from the beginning.

This is why the episode felt also as an OG episode. Because almost all aspects from OG were taken and were put here. Pikachu's personality, Ash's goofy but also heroic character, caring pokemon (Orange Islands - Charizard), almost Beedrill gag, Rocket again with Meowth Ballon and much more. Opening focused and listed the Ash's OG starters and so on....

This also why I don't expect returns from any other companion. Cilian is an exception because he didn't have time to shine in JN while others did, besides its a good way to introduce Brock again. I hope they bring rivals as Ritchie, Casey for the last time.

As someone earlier mentioned, it's nice to see Pikachu with a personality

The episode itself was pretty good, a bit underwhelming. Although if that's more on expectations than anything else

I like that this episode showcases one of Ash best traits. He willingness to help a Pokemon no matter the cost to him. And seeing him rotate his mons this episode was great

But honestly the plot was kinda lackluster. I knew this wasn't the movie latias. Everyone saying he was gonna catch it has only themselves to blame. What purpose would catching it serve? Just so ash can check off the "catching a legendary" box. This is one of the things where the fandom wants something to happen despite it not really making sense for the story. Like Ash somehow taking down Giovanni and the entire TR organization in just one episode. Or a when Wallace cup arc in 11 episodes????

Outside of that, if I'm tired of the "injured Mon, human saves it, guess humans aren't so bad, et plot the show constantly uses at nauseum.

Op was disappointing but if this is due to the staffing issues that were revealed last year. Not gonna get really mad about it

I give it a 7/10

I think this whole 'it was your fault you were hoping for movie Latias and/or a capture!' crowd is sorely mistaken about why so many people had this expectation; it's because, aside from that, the first episode of Ash's final 11 was barely more than run-off-the-mill filler. Some people just expected this to have more substance than that.

Well, I guess you can kinda blame them for having any expectations left after 3 years of Journeys but...

True, it's understandable why they thought it was the movie latias. Though the capture still never made sense. Ash is rotating his team by the looks of it. So even if it gets a capture, is it guarantee enough screentime?

But I agreed this episode is pretty good but pretty underwhelming

Seems like Ash is keeping a couple slots open on his team, so he could definitely keep it around. Not sure what for, since it's not even the M5 Latias...but eh.

Same. I don't think the episode itself is bad, just its placement.

Saying again: the ep wasn’t actually that bad ngl. That’s all.

Although the last few frames was weird like this one:
FmWUSraaEAA8all

The last few frames was just the same Latias Ash helped looking over him as he continues moving.

Is Latias going to start following him…? Just seems to weird to have the ending like that. Which ngl, gives me Gengar and Krokorok dèjá vu.
When that scene popped up, I thought it was a Latios for a couple seconds.

It was a decent episode, but idk what to expect from here on. Is this a good start? Are all these episodes like this?
