Well the anime is honoring Ash's history and tradition, it's only right the anime fans do as well by honoring what we do best

Sadly its not the same Latias from Alto Mare, but it seems that Latias will be a recurring character, since at the end you can see that it watches Ash, probably will follow him.

The episode felt really like an OG episode, I got what I wanted.

Such a beautiful way to start the beginning of the end! I absolutely loved how they focused on Ash’s caring character in this episode to help the random Latias. The concept of Ash using his old Pokémon too in rotation is a dream finally come true. A really enjoyable episode.

The way Latias left without saying goodbye and was shown following him in the end, this episode DOES feel like a setup for its capture? Perhaps in the final ep to bring it full circle and end with Ash's declaration of Pokemon Master?

That was kinda mediocre honestly. Not bad,just not amazing. Latias was wasted for sure in a way. 7/10.

Overall, I'd give the episode a 6/10.

Pros:
-Well-animated
-Pikachu displaying personality like in the OS
-Reserves being used (already more engaging than all of Journeys)
-Ash feeling like a veteran trainer (confident, experienced, daring)

Cons:
-Underwhelming plot

The Latias ending is interesting. Will it be their transport across the remaining episodes?

Episode was an exceptional self contained that brought Ash to his roots. We've got a new follower Pokemon like Oshawott, Gengar, Krookodile ect . I like it.

Latias is going to be following Ash around. Observing

Honestly the only really good thing about this ep is seeing how liberal ash uses his pokemons, which also happens to be the reserves.

Actually made him feel more like a veteran trainer, rather than how he often just stands around in JN so goh can showcase his dime a dozen mons. Also like how we see a camp scene with a lot of pokemon out after what feels like ages.

OP and ED sucks visually. ED had zero effort, while OP had less effort than YT AMVs. It’s clear they’re really banking on gen 1 nostalgia here.
