The X-Box 360 power problem.

Is it serious? Is it more or less than likley to happen. It really makes me worried. Every time it gets luke-warm I power off for a half hour. I just want to know if I'm overly parinoid and its okay or not.

You mean the whole overheating deal? Not too much to worry about. It only happens in 10% of all Xbox360s.

Ya, that... 10%? I still think thats enough to be carful for.. Seeing as it would be $800 down the drain.

I would imagine that Microsoft would replace the system if it overheated. Either that or you could sue them...that would work.

They've already dealt with this overheating issue, a few of the 360's came with black coloured power supply's, newer ones will be gray. But even then, very few of them had any kind of problem, if your's hasn't crashed, or become very hot or anything yet, then it isn't just going to suddenly start happening.

How hot is very hot? It seems to heat rahter fast. And I can't tell the diffrence between what would be gray and balck.

0kay. So when that is avalible I can purchase it and have no worries? Until then I will still be carful.

All the new ones Xboxs have been like that since December, and even then, only a very few amount of earlier ones had any problems. You'd be safe enough to buy the console now, your only problem would be actually finding one. If you did happen to get a faulty unit, Microsoft do repair them for free.

True, Im sure that would financially cripple Microsoft enough to make them take notice.

As long as the area around the power pack is well ventilated it should be fine

Yes, I got one... Off ebay, and I assume the people on there got them at launch trying to make a profit. So your saying its safe to play, and if it does happen Microsoft will repair it.. for free? If not I 'spose I can sue them.

You can check to see if it has a black power supply, I suppose. Most of them should be safe though. And, as for availability . . . Now that the New Year has come and gone, more of them are popping up. I saw a few units at Wal-Marts the other day and also @ an EB store. Just check around. Main problem that I've heard about now is there aren't a lot of titles out for it. Looked like there was plenty when I was at the store, but then maybe that was the regular x-Box stuff. My friends have an x-Box. I haven't gotten one yet. Just keep checking with the stores though. You'll catch one eventually.
