What are your thoughts on bug POKéMON? Do you ever use one, or do you think that they have way too many weaknesses? I've always loved the type, but I quite often found that the ones I'm using, faint rather quickly (regardless of how the moveset is). Is it just me, or have bug POKéMON (generally) been giving the short end of the stick?

I'm currently training a Spinarak (one of my absolut favourite) to use it in battle. I don't plan on evolving it, and I'm keeping it just for the sake liking it.

Here is the moveset for my Spinarak:

Signal Beam
Agility
Sludge Bomb
Nightshade

I did it!!
Some have but some like Scizor, Ariados and Butterfree IMO are usable.

Edit: forgot Forretress, Ninjask, Heracross, Shuckle and Armaldo are good too.

Oh yeah, this is probably in the wrong place. Would someone please move it?

Some of them are good, like Heracross, Armaldo, Ninjask and maybe Shedinja...
But some of them are really bad and ugly, like Illumise and Volbeat..

But that's my opinion...

Bug is a good Type as far as offense and defense go. They screw the ever-present Psychic, as well as Dark, which is hard to see. Grass is another noteworthy edge. They have similar weaknesses to those of Grass, but less. And also bestow a few nice resistances like Ground, Grass, Dark and Fighting.

But in the end, I'm not fond of a vast majority of Bug Pokémon. Not only are several of them weak as hell, but those that are strong aren't of my liking. Especially seeing how those steal glory from Pinsir for getting the support Pinsir SO needs AND deserves. But no... all others get all the attention while he gets shafted. :mad:

In short... I only like Pinsir and Ariados. I'm partial to Armaldo, Heracross and Scizor, though I kind of hate them. The rest? I either ignore or hate with a burning passion. Hi there, Scyther. :)

I agree. They (most of them, if not all) have bad stats and weaknesses. Have you EVER seen an uber bug pokemon? I don't think Shuckle counts, since it can't attack for its life.

I'm training an Ariados (no, I'm not doing it just because Harley has them like so many others are apparently doing. I don't watch the show and I hardly even know who Harley is.) Spiders need love too. X3 And I just love Spinerak's cry. Skreeeee~

Insects have always been to me a fascinating and vital link in the magnificent web of the eco-system, so naturally I'm prompted to love Bug Pokemon. My favourite bugs are Ariados and Heracross, whom I utterly adore, but I also like Forretress, Yanma, Pinsir, and Shedinja.

Insects must be stronger, as I like some of them (specially Beedrill). But they are weak, there isn´t ever a Uber Bug like Ground (Groudon), Water (Kyogre+Suicune), Dragon (Rayquaza), Fire (Ho-Oh+Moltres+Entei), and others

I r gud riter.
Bugs are useful - Heracross has a base 125 attack, STAB Focus Punch. Of course most of the nubs wouldn't understand that and continue to flame about how bugs suck =/

And BTW, Pinsir rules. Swords Dance, HP Bug, Rock Slide, Focus Punch, Bulk Up, Earthquake, Brick Break. It learns a lot of useful physical moves, and Swords Dance to sweep.

Bug types are awesome, they're my favorite of any type in the game. So what if most of them are weak? They're still cool. And some bugs are actually very noteworthy; Heracross is one of the best Pokemon in the game.

I've personally trained both Armaldo and Forretress for competitive purposes, and can safely say that they can hold their own just as well as any other type of Pokemon. I'm also quite partial to Yanma, Venomoth, Pinsir, and ESPECIALLY the entire Nincada family. I'll throw Masquerain in there too, but it really should have kept that glorious Bug/Water typing. ;_;

But yeah, bugs can be good. I like 'em lots. Someday I hope to have a usable mono-Bug team.

Bug has potential, its just shafted. Its represented by crap (often appealing crap but still crappy in battle) such as Masquerain, Beautifly, Beedrill, Dustox and pretty much most of the type. However, Pinsir, Heracross, Fortress and Armaldo all earn a pardon from this because I feel that they've lived up to standards

it's extremely baffling why some bug types like Volbeat and Illumise get as much hatred as they do... what exactly did they do to deserve it?

I pray there will be more species of bugs in the next generation then are worth something(Araidos, Pinsir, Heracross) though Masquerain and Yanma have their uses too.

Butterfree... Easily my favorite of all the Bug Pokemon, but one good fire, electric, ice, rock, or flying move (and even poison in the original Red and Blue, but that's changed now) and it's squished... Poor thing. -_-;;

Bug's a good type, but many of the Pokemon and moves aren't.

But Heracross is the bast Bug type in battle IMO, and one of the better in design too (hi there boring Scyther design).
