Things that grind your gears!

You know what really grinds my gears? This is not pokemon-related, but I really feel like i need to get this off my chest...

I pretty much get really miffed when people utter vulgarities (Yes, ALL of them, including the ones people don't think qualify) for the sake of getting their point across, or to delude themselves with of sense of toughness. Originally, one would do that out of extreme anger or frustration. But now it's as if it's a social staple! WHAT!?!

I mean, why do people have the need to drop a F-bomb or D-missile every other sentence to get their point across? This is especially true in movies, television programs, and unfortunately forums like these. I don't get it, is it for shock value? Do they think it makes it more "Edgy"? I'm sorry, but foul language does not make things cooler or make you look tough, it makes you seem that you have a short temper. Why do people casually use vulgar terms that would that would sear my eardrums/irises in every instance!? To take this issue even further, is when someone takes something uplifting and clean, and make it filthy and rough-around-the-edges and downright poisoned with M-rated nonsense!

Now, you may think me immature, or are saying to yourself "You seed to grow up!"...But if i hear someone outside verbally mouth off or see someone swear in a post, my entire view of that person is totally warped, and I am less inclined to be around you, and indefinitely if you persist!

Whew! That's it, i'm glad I got that off my chest. And look, I did it without uttering a single obscenity. What does that tell you?

How about..."GRINDING"? Huh? Anyone? Nevermind, this has 154 pages, if its not on the first page, then surely someone made this lame joke somewhere in between. It is a pain though. I got a near perfect IV+EV Level 1 Feebas and am just grinding levels for it now.

Discrepancies in starter hidden abilities. Starter Pokémon are members of their respective sets so it seems like hidden abilities would be distributed between them almost equally. Nope. This is what I mean:
Meganium: Leaf Guard
Typhlosion: Flash Fire
Feraligatr: Sheer Force

Sceptile: Unburden
Blaziken: Speed Boost
Swampert: Damp

Torterra: Shell Armor
Internape: Iron Fist
Empoleon: Defiant

Serperior: Contrary
Emboar: Reckless
Samurott: Shell Armor

Chesnaught: Bulletproof
Delphox: Magician
Greninja: Protean

It seems that there's always at least one starter with the short stick. Either two starters get HAs that are at least decent and the third gets shafted or two are left with comparatively 'meh' abilities compared to the best of the bunch. Sceptile's Unburden is decent but compared to Blaziken's Speed Boost? Not as much. Swampert sits out in the corner with Damp. Defiant and Iron Fist are both decent as well, so are Reckless and Contrary. Shell Armor, on the other hand, is not. Magician is outright terrible while Bulletproof is at least somewhat(?) useable but Protean outpaces them both. I can't be the only one who's annoyed by this.

Also, it would be beneficial for some people to learn that everyone else's speech patterns aren't tailored towards them, the majority of people could care less if one individual find their turns of phrase distasteful. This isn't a cause for everyone to spew out whatever they're thinking in the back of their mind 100% of the time but those that choose to utilize words that may offend some prudes shouldn't be lectured by said prudes.

This is why there's a time and a place for things like this. I'd never swear around, say, a child or an older adult. Or somebody I've never met. Or on the internet at all, because there's a lot of people like you that would be offended by such. But between friends, or in a setting like a party or whatever, being able to swear just makes the entire atmosphere more casual. Once somebody starts dropping f-bombs in front of me, I know I can be less formal around them, if that makes sense. I perceive them as more relaxed and less of a stick-in-the-mud. No offence of course - I have a few friends who don't appreciate swearing, but our relationship definitely feels different and more formal to me. I'm pretty good at filtering, thankfully. Obviously if you're using foul language in public, that's inappropriate imo.

Some people just can't cope with the fact that not all anime is good. Just because it's a show meant and made for ten y/o's doesn't mean it is not an anime.

On that note, it bugs me when people list it with the more serious, culturally significant anime movies and series. It's the equivalent to comparing Spongebob to something like, I don't know, Lost or Heroes.

People who send boxes full of absolutely crappy Pokemon deserve the raw side of my foot up their backside. Like, why? Are you expecting some great thing to come your way despite your utter lack of reciprocation? When I wonder trade, I send things that are too good for Release, but I have no need for (MM extras, Pokemon with Egg Moves, 4IV+ Pokemon etc.) mostly because I have this imagined situation where some kid who's been looking for a Chespin not only gets exactly what he wants, but it Perfect IVs, Nature, and Egg Moves. But to get back Magikarps and Scatterbugs and Pidgeys is just....why are you wasting the time it takes to Wonder Trade with such garbage?

I remember back before Pokebank came out, I loved the GTS. There were no hacked Pokemon, no overflux of legendary Pokemon. People genuinly were trading really good Pokemon across the world. I traded for a Protean Froakie, a Rough Skin Gible, a Gale Wings Fletchling, and the descriptions people wrote were, more often than not, true. Now, EVERYTHING is Legendaries and Events. Like, even the dumbest things and people are asking for a Yvetal or an Arceus or a Mew. Do people even realize GTS won't allow Event Pokemon to be traded via GTS? Just try putting up your Pokebank Celebi: a message comes up saying you can't put it on GTS. Why do you think you can never find one when you search?
Yet people still ask for ridiculous trades: oh, gee, I guess your lvl1 Dunsparce would be worth my lvl61-70 Xernes. The worst are the people trading Dittos. "6IV HA MODEST LEGIT" How can people lie so boldly? I actually bit once: I was desperate for a 6IV ditto and they were asking for an Entei, which I had 3 of, so I took a leap of faith...and fell to my doom. Never again. Even if someone does legitimately put something worth the value on GTS these days; like I could see trading a lower Legendary for a 6IV competative Pokemon; nobody can trust it anymore.
I still use the GTS, sometimes, when I need a Pokemon for breeding Egg Moves. I have a living Dex, but sometimes it's easier to just pull something offline so get the EXP boost and pre-raised level. But man, I crawl through the Grimers to see 20+ people asking for event legendaries. It's just sad, it really is

I can see what you mean. But to counter some of your argument. Some pokemon that are "throwaway" may happen to have good ivs or items. I once got a lvl 17 pineco with 4ivs and its egg moves which allowed me to use for breeding, and had a pikachu that had leftovers added to him. Plus about the GTS, even before pokebank was released. People were still asking for legendaries that they know they're not able to get. Making the GTS impossible to trade pokemon from the beginning

I mostly use Wonder Trade to accumulate PokeMiles. Most of the time that I'm using the Wonder Trade, I'm doing something else, like watching TV... or making this post. 99% of the time, I'm just sending the Pokemon I just got in my next trade. I've never sat and thought, "I hope I get something great for a really bad Pokemon!"

Wonder Trade is something that can't really be regulated since people will always abuse it. However I like wonder trade because its pretty innovative to the Pokemon universe and helped get me stronger Pokemon earlier on. I guess what really grinds my gears though is the non-existent post game for Pokemon X and Y. I know there is battle maison and "detective" missions but that isn't as fun as the Pokemon World Tournament or the Battle Frontier. It just seems boring and repetitive. Which is why I am replaying my Pokemon Y game before I get Alpha Sapphire.

And, yeah, GF needs to make the Pokemon's summary viewable on the GTS - that would really help with defining whether a Pokemon truly has those 6IVs you say it does.

It would be if the majority off stuff on WT wasn't quite decent. Granted mostly breeding remnents but still a nice gift all the same.
