Yeah the last time we had actual evil teams were Team Skull (they actually controlled Po Town) and team Rainbow Rocket
I keep seeing people say that the Aether Foundation was the “true” evil team in Alola but there are several things wrong with that claim. First most of the Aether employees are rather nice and they all want to help and protect Pokémon in the region and Wicke is proof of this. It’s only Faba that is evil as Lusamine is more of a tragic antagonist who basically lost her mind after discovering the UBs in an attempt to find Mohn who had gone missing after entering a wormhole. The Aether employees who attack you when you go to save Lillie were most likely only doing it to protect the Pokémon in the facility because you were trespassing on restricted grounds and they didn’t know why you were there.

Well team skull do sort of end up working for the Aether foundation because Lusamine became the secret benefactor of team Skull so I think it ends up confusing for a lot of people. I do think of team skull being the "evil team" but in truth team skull are mostly just an annoyance rather than an organisation with major plans.

Yeah but Team Skull still feel like minor thug bullies. I don't get why everyone else left Po Town or why they live in the constant rain?
Guzma was a strong enemy boss for hire. He does have a good side. He cared enough about Lusamine by jumping in after her in the Ultra games to rescue her.

Team Yell are just delinquents who mainly cheer for Marnie, but they did things like bothering a Silicobra. And giving Ash wrong directions, so he ended up in Spikemuth when he was headed to Wyndon Stadium.
Director Rose was the only Gen 8 threat, since he had no idea how to truly tame Eternatus. and Macro Cosmos employees were just mooks.

Team Star were just Academy students trying to flee from bullies or fighting back depending on perspective. Unless you invade their bases, they are harmless. But lots of expulsions would make a school look bad. But if a huge ammount of Area Zero pokemons had escaped ?
THAT WOULD BE WAY WORSE.

We really need a more evil teams instead of minor nuisances groups and one villain each game.

I agree. While it was nice to have gangs that seem like they are going to be pure evil but then defy all expectations by turning out to be just minor nuisances or over enthusiastic fans of a Trainer or even misunderstood kids, doing it three Gens in a row is a bit much. It’s sort of like the Fire starter ending up being part Fighting three consecutive Gens. Team Star is a nice change of pace in that they never actually had any evil intentions and were actually trying to do something good before others misjudged their actions and unfairly labeled them as being “bad” kids that cause trouble without looking more into what their reasons for how they act are. But we need someone that is more threatening and true evil team leaders just work better. Rose was more of a misguided individual that didn’t realize the true dangers of keeping Eternatus caged and drawing power from it as no one knew that it was the cause behind the Darkest Day since it was a 1000 year old mystery. And Lusamine basically lost her mind trying to find Mohn by trying to open up a wormhole that led to where he disappeared and Nihilego’s poison did corrupt her brain so she might not have been acting like her usual self and can’t be held fully accountable for that.

I would like to see a more conventional evil team with a proper fleshed out threat. I respect what they were going for with Team Star, Team Skull etc and it was interesting but we haven't had a properly evil team which had a properly evil plan since probably team Flare (excluding team rainbow rocket which are more repeat of previous villains)

Y'know, the more I think about it, and the more I believe that Dynamaxing / Gigantamaxing wasn't fully used, or was poorly implemented...
  • All 3 starters didn't get their own G-Max forms until Isle of Armor, when it should have been in the base game.
  • Butterfree, Kingler, Snorlax, Orbeetle and Sandaconca are ignored completely.
  • Zacian and Zamazenta cannot D-Max, while Urshifu, a Mythical, can do so.
  • Only 17 regular Pokémon from Galar get G-Max forms.
  • If G-Maxing is supposed to represent a trainer's ace, then it also highlights how some of them weren't well chosen, especially when a LOT of them are dual-typed and aren't Galarian Pokémon.

Urshifu is considered legendary rather than Mythical but I do agree with the the point that Zacian and Zamazenta should be able to regular Dynamax (even if they could only do so when not in crown form), The same is true of Eternatus who cannot dynamax despite being the origin of Dynamax. I get that it shouldn't eternamax any more but I still think it should be able to regular dynamax.

I think the reason for the Zacian Zamazenta and Eternatus didn't get kaiju forms (dynamax or gigantamax) was because they already get moves to counter that: Behemoth Blade, Behemoth Bash and Dynamax Cannon respectively.

Lore-wise one could argue that since Eternatus crashed into Galar, leaking its kaiju-growing radiation and only woke up twice across about 3000 years, it cannot sustain its true Eternamax form outside of the buff Rose gave it or brief usage of the Dynamax Cannon. Kind of like how Ultra Necrozma is the actual original form of the entity, but because it was harvested cannot sustain this form without the right item/energy source. And because it is the source of Dynamax radiation it is immune the effects other Pokemon are not.

The fact that Gamefreak has never done a Bug/Dragon or Rock/Ghost type despite having ample opportunity to do so. Yanmega and Galarian Corsola at the least could've easily fit into these types, and it's not like the former's ability to fly wouldn't make sense with Dragon replacing Flying as plenty of bugs are fliers without the type or Levitate

With Zacian and Zamazenta I'd have had them be able in their Hero of Many Battles form given that they cannot use Behemoth Blade or Behemoth Bash in that form. It's fair enough if in their crowned form they can't dynamax.

The strange one is with Eternatus which can dynamax/eternamax in the Pokemon masters but then uses eternabeam which it calls a max move but isn't. So that one is odd.

I suppose you could argue it that way. I personally would have it just regular dynamax (i don't think it should eternamax for the reason you stated) but I suppose its a moot point given I don't think Dynamax will return anytime soon.

As for your point on Bug/Dragon and Rock/Ghost I would agree. There have been several Pokemon that could have been Ghost/Rock and to be honest Bug/Dragon could easily be a regional form of Flygon. It's already been used by a bug specialist after all.

• Shiny locking Chi-yu. Some Pokémon cannot help just how gorgeous they are!

• Removing Barrier from the game, because Hypno would’ve been something else with Body Press and Stored Power.

• Tinkaton not learning Earthquake despite having a mantle splitting hammer.

Your Pokémon still keeps its Tera Type even if you switch out.
They only lose it if they are knocked out, like mega pokemon. I don't always use it since it feels like the game lags a lot when using it.

Yeah he was really harsh, and he still lost a valuable pokemon when he ditched the Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape that eventually managed to calm down when the Blaze ability was activated.

Trying to find any of the following mass outbreaks in Scarlet and Violet is literally like trying to find a jar of pickles in a haystack. It’s an absolute nightmare and virtually impossible.

Austin John Plays did a pretty informative video on how to get the outbreaks you want. It might help. Sorry if the link doesn't display properly, my phone doesn't like Serebii (or maybe it's the other way around)
