Max Raid battles in general. I can never find anyone to join me, the timer always runs down to zero with no other players being found, so I always have to do them alone, and the game always pairs me up with the absolute worst NPCs for that particular raid. I just can't do five-star Max Raids at all, they're just too difficult to do alone. The Isle of Armour is especially annoying for this, because I've been trying to gather Max Mushrooms so I can Gigantamax a few of my Pokemon, but even after doing the customary three Max Raids required for the mushrooms to spawn, there have been a few times where no mushrooms have appeared, so it feels like I've put in a lot of time and energy for no reward.

I have managed to beat a lot of 5 star max raids using only the in-game NPC's but I'll admit most of them are not that helpful and its not really fun. I wish even in the post game you could encounter the 1 star raids occasionally in order to max acquiring max mushrooms easier and I do think the game sometimes goes overboard with the barriers in the max raid battles.

I don't understand where you're coming from with this. EVs are not chance at all. You can control them completely. IVs are chance, but the ease of access of bottle caps makes that point moot, especially since Hidden Power isn't important anymore.
Yeah, you're right. I was mostly thinking of IVs being chance and the fact that just regularly going through the game your Pokémon won't end up EV trained, and level grinding's a pain. While level grinding is lessened by Max Raid battles giving out EXP candy, the fact that I can't do it online makes it so that I don't want to do it much due to the NPCs. Though, the fact that I can't go online also means I can't do competitive against other players so the only thing I'm really grinding for is the Battle Tower, which you need to beat to get Bottle Caps, which you need to have good IVs, which you somewhat need to beat the Battle Tower. Though at this point I can't remember what point I was initially trying to make. Mostly that it's really annoying to do competitive.

There is something very wrong with how Pokémon Sword and Shield connects to other people. I can't really determine what it is, but I find myself able to join other peolpe's Max Raid Battles much easier with certain workarounds. Doing things like setting up a Surprise Trade or doing a Link Code League Card trade seems to "wake up" the game and be more alert to find ongoing Max Raid Battles before time runs out.

Time of day also seems to be important. During afternoons and evenings, in North America, for instance, I can find a lot of people, as well as afternoons and evenings in Japan. Right now though, the novelty of Isle of Armor has mostly worn off, and there aren't quite as many people as there were before...though occasionally, that leads to me finding people more easily. Other games I've played, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, had netcode that, for some reason, made it easier to find people when fewer people were online. It's hard to predict.

Going through the game WILL, in fact, EV-train your Pokémon. You're just going to be training it in pretty much random stats.

I do get what you mean though. It's not like most other games with a competitive scene where you just select your character(s) and you're good to go. There's an insane level of customization in this game that requires you sink a lot of time to get your Pokémon exactly to how you plan them to be, and there aren't many shortcuts short of hacking. It completely baffles most other video games' competitive scenes (and some competitive scenes of games that aren't video games).

Good catch on the Max Raids thing. That's happened to me too. And lately, it's gotten harder to find so many open raids.

Downright lucky. Since those throws are harder to make now.
The bigger the target, the easier the throw. Focus on thicc Pokemon like Wobbuffet or if you live in Australia, Kangaskhan

Speaking of GO, it grinds my gears that these fancy dressed event Pokemon can't evolve. Is it so hard to program Toxicroak with its hat? Another thing to complain is when the evolution to an already existing Pokemon in GO hasn't been released, like Sirfetch'd

Not always the case. They've made the circle so much thinner now, that it's harder to make excellent throws. I've only made one over the last year or so. And even when things were easier, I never was able to make an excellent curveball throw.

Can we please get the older, old forum back?

Yelp, that's on you mate. I barely play anymore, opened up the game just now, threw curved excellent on the first try on a Skitty and then another first try on a Spearow. It's just a case of knowing what you're doing and seeing/knowing the angles at which you need to throw.

What grinds my gears is Niantic's greed with all these hats and costumes. Why do they need Smoochum, Shinx and a Croagunk to have a new shiny form - and especially one that's raid only. MONEY. Smoochum and Croagunk would be fine, but they need to make money and make a stupid tophat Shinx so people will spend money on the game. Guess what Niantic, it's 2020 and we've got better ways in which we need to spend money then a yellow Shinx with a tophat that can't even evolve.

Can't wait for Halloween when we'll get the same crap again but with starters and gimmicky outfits.

Regarding PoGo I'm a nearly full F2P. Only spend very little (probably around less than 2 or 3 american dollars) when I was starting out for a specific event. But it's been over one year where I'm full F2P, only farming coins on gyms and stuff.

But I do admit I like the Shinx event and have been doing the raids. Yeah, it's just Shinx with a hat and uncapable of evolution but... more chances to get the beautiful Shiny Shinx. Can't turn that off. It's the one shiny I'm crazy about.

Good thing I've saved over 2k coins. Will use the free raid passes from today for more raids

Also, I probably said that on this thread already but... Niantic picking community days through twitter and thus making them all Kanto pandering really irritates me.

I want that freaking community day for Shinx. The fact we haven't had one grinds my gears. I'll walk for over as long as this event lasts so I can get that beautiful shiny.

I don't really understand. Companies create content for the sake of making money; so what? Why is this gear grinding? If people are interested in something, they may or may not spend money on it. If they aren't, they won't. What would be the non-greedy version of this scenario, exactly?

And that's called luck. I don't have the money to spend on countless Pokeballs to try to throw an excellent curveball. Watched some videos and practiced using the technique they mentioned, but the balls usually go way off to the side. To me, it's a waste of time, as trying to do it, ends up wasting Pokeballs.

For Event Shiny, I try to get them just because they make for a good bargaining chip to trade with a regular shiny I don't have.

Red and Blue are on the 3DS eshop, but they are not in colour.
Really sad.
What color? They're the way I remember playing them.

On the gameboy colour Pokemon blue was mostly blue with some elements being red, while Pokemon Red was mostly red with some green elements.
And if you played on that adapter thing that allowed you to play gameboy games on the Super Nintendo then Pokemon Red/Blue had the same amount of colour as Pokemon Yellow (iirc) meaning, all Pokemon spirtes had a unique colour, the towns had a unique colour each, the routes were green etc.

Due to the lack of a vs seeker or similar in many games it can be really difficult to test out strategies for double battles before going to a battle tower facility or similar. Sometimes you just want to test out an idea and see if it works logistically. That can be frustrating.

What also grinds my gears is waiting for someone, ANYONE, to accept a battle request on the 3DS Pokemon games. It takes me at least 20mins to find someone who is willing to battle :( a selection of the most popular and hottest porn sites with reviews on them

Do you mean through stuff like the PSS and Festival Plaza? Because I kept getting requests, but they got annoying because they'd always happen when I was in the middle of doing something else, I didn't always have a team on hand, and it was always full team single battles with all Restricted Pokémon allowed.

When you play an old game but have things that you forget were true at the time. Probably the most annoying is Gengar as in early games its weak to Ground, after abilities it is immune to ground and then from Gen 7 it is again weak to ground.
