Exactly, the lower grade holes are unpredictable and when you unlock it you might often just find a pokemon that you already have.

and the other reason is that technically Gyms 5, 6 and 7 can be done in any order, so they need to be about equal in terms of power.

Please pardon such a late reply, but when I saw this, I wanted to mention that it's technically even possible to do the 7th Gym and surrounding events before even beating the 4th, because Mt. Mortar can be traversed without needing Surf. So that really skewed how they had to balance the Levels and Pokemon teams.

Morty not having the singular new Ghost is a crime.

This. I don't understand how they couldn't have swapped out Gastly for Misdreavus, or just added Misdreavus and gave Morty 4 Pokemon.

Why isn't Leon more muscular?

He literally has weights and bars in his old bedroom, which shows he had a history of being an athletic person. He should have a much more toned and defined physique.

This is probably due to them wanting to adhere to certain physical aesthetics for Leon's design, ones they did not feel the need to adhere to for Milo or even Kabu, the latter of whom often coming across looking more muscular than Leon does. (Different mediums do play with Leon's physique, though. Like how Evolutions upsells Leon's muscle definition.)

I do wish they more consistently unapologetically let Leon be the athletic hunk bro sports champion that he 'outta be (and that he implicitly is, even if his visuals don't add up to the implications behind them).

You can't beat Mahogany Gym before getting Surf. You need to beat Team Rocket there before that gym opens up and you need Surf to start that encounter at the Red Gyarados

Just adding a Misdreavus would give Morty 5 pokemon because his gym team is currently Gastly, Haunter, Gengar and Haunter. I'd personally swap out the duplicate haunter rather than Gastly for Misdreavus because then at least you technically get 4 different Pokemon.

They could have given him a Unown in the originals and the Hidden Power being a Ghost Damage. I think Unown does have a bit of a ghostly appearance.

They could have and it I would have been interesting to see one used. If I was to go for a non-ghost to morty's team I'd have gone with Noctowl given its ability to learn nightmare and foresight (which seems useful for a ghost specialist) and give Falkner didn't use one.

Makes sense. Sabrina randomly had a Venomoth on her team in RB.

I've always thought that was one of the oddest decisions in gen 1 given that they could have easily given her a Hypno and given the Venomoth to Koga.

I think they did avoided that since Psychics already had a broken damage output but having a Psychic tank similar to the random Hypno guy in Koga's gym? That would be overkill for a gym leader. Sha has a Gallade instead even in HGSS

I thought it was because Venomoth learns Hypnosis via level up and Psychic through TM and moths are usually portrayed in media to be able to use hypnotic powers and other psychic abilities.

I just managed to rack up a lot of BP points in Ultra Sun. However my Blastoisite is gone, must have traded it by accident and the Battle Tree in Ultra Sun doesn't have any spare Kanto starter mega stones.

Already got stone walled by a steel/ground AI team that defeated my team of Tapu Koko Goodra Greninja and Incineroar right before the 10th battle in super doubles. I'm almost at a boiling point right now.

I've mentioned before that i found it annoying that the Kalos elite 4 only had 4 Pokemon was annoying. One thing that I didn't mention is that the same is true of the Unova Elite 4 and I also find that annoying. I don't consider it as bad as Kalos given that Unova has a more limited dex, there was a challenge mode that offered 5 Pokemon in at least sequels and at least Unova had rematches with 6 Pokemon. But I still think they easily could have given them 5 Pokemon given that there are Pokemon of their type (or at least forms) that each of the elite 4 could have used or they could have done like a lot of elite 4 members in the past and use pokemon not of their type but make thematic sense.

Ah, you're right! You can explore up to Lake of Rage, but without Surf, you can't continue events in that area.

You can tell it's be a bit since I last played Gold and Silver or their remakes. I forgot that his duplicate Pokemon was a second Haunter.

People who believed that the Fire-Type Starters were based off the Chinese Zodiac.

This theory has been proven false since Gen 2. Cyndaquil is NOT a mouse/rat. It is more of an echidna or badger, but it is NOT a mouse/rat no matter what the pokedex entry says.

I also hated how people were clinging on to that stupid theory with saying Fennekin was based on a dog. No, it is obviously a fox. Yes, Foxes and dogs are canines, but that does not make them the same thing. Fennekin is a fox. End of discussion.

If Fuecoco stays a crocodile, I'll be glad it'll put this theory to bed at long last. Please, stay a crocodile and end the theory that was never true in the first place.

Note: I don't see the Litten Family as tigers, but I can see how people believed that one.

Fuecoco won’t turn into a snake as it is the only reptile in the Chinese Zodiac other than the dragon but Charizard has that covered. Incineroar is the only tiger in its line. The other two are just regular house cats with tiger stripe markings.

I don’t believe in the Zodiac theory but there are official sources that see Cyndaquil as a rat/Litten line as tigers

Eh, ragazzo!
In BDSP, Work Up is TM 10, Snarl is TM 78, and Bulldoze is TM 83.

I wish Work Up was TM 83, and Bulldoze was TM 78 to match up what they had in Pokemon Black/White.

That leaves Snarl, which can be TM 10. (It was TM 95 in B2/W2, but I get that the HMs were converted to the last TM slots.)

---

Also, what official sources said that Cyndaquil was a rat?

At least the Snivy line seems to have snakes covered.

All of the games are messing up the numbers making it difficult making the lists completely different, kinda like a Moves-Dexit. They took out a lot of moves in SWSH such as Hidden Power and recently Surf doesn't exist in Legends Arceus and instead Hydro Pump seems to hit more often.

The fact they replaced the Global Trade Station with the Global Wonder Station. I really don't care much for wonder trades. Trading just seems to be getting more and more difficult. Given that Pokemon Home app is still not available for BDSP (and even then it doesn't allow for trade evolution). Trading via union rooms isn't exactly great either (half the people I encountered just showed me a shiny legendary then disconnected). Before the switch trading still needed improvement but it was at least fairly functional for at least basic trades. Now if you don't set it up in advance (such as on this forum) its harder than it was in gen 4.
