No problem. I can understand with you there. I respect the soldiers myself, but not the wars.

I'm tired of so many ads on tv lately. It's been getting to the point where even muting them isn't helping.

I hate it when writers retcon certain things in their own story, or forget things that they already established. I got into a heated exchange over this on another forum a few weeks ago, but I just can't stand it when the canon is changed just to fulfill the wishes of the author (and in some cases, to pander to SJWs).

I also respect the soldiers. Did you not see that I said that I don’t support the idea of war? I just think world peace really isn’t feasible because there will always be oppression and injustice in this world and we can never truly erase it. War is just an inevitable part of life and I accept that fact. It’s just how I see things and this doesn’t mean everyone should feel the same way. It’s the soldiers that I respect for being willing to die for our freedom, not the fighting. There is a difference.

Oh this burns my biscuits! I've seen this happen on the X Files during s10 and 11.

Reyes being reduced to a bad guy in X Files season 10 and 11. It made no sense and didn't fit her as a character as well.

CSM being brought back at all in the aforementioned seasons. Especially since he was blown up in 'The Truth'!

M and S being reduced to shells of who they were. Same goes with their relationship. And their son being pretty much evil.

I did. Thing is, this kind of topic can spiral out of control, given people's many different points of view on it, it's why it's such a thorny topic at times. It's why I mentioned not talking further on it. I have nothing against your views, by the way. It's pretty much where I'm at as well. Only like @wolf jani mentioned, war isn't as black and white as just dealing with oppression and injustice. Corporations and nations also use it to make money, and so on.

Here's what President Eisenhower said on the military industrial complex (and he served during WWII):

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist."

The main flaw of my favorite anime of all. Naruto Shippuuden is how it goes againts it's own principles. I'll explain it in a spoiler.
So basically for the part 1 of Naruto and early shippuuden Naruto was depicted as an hardworking ordinary man who could beat geniuses and destiny. But then it was revealed that His father was The fourth hokage AKA the strongest Ninja of his village and was also called the fastest Ninja ever and Naruto's mom came from one of the strongest ninja clans. But that's not all near the end of the show it was revealed that Naruto is the reincarnation of the son of a legendary demigod. Meaning that Naruto himself was also a genius with destiny.

The American Education System's love of test score and teaching to the test. The love of multiple choice has ruined my students' ability to argue and debate whenever I give exams. They say all the right words and ideas but don't put them in the correct order. I'm not asking you to memorize the concepts. I'm asking you to apply them that doesn't involve plugging in answers and seeing if they're correct.

Season ending cliffhangers on TV really bother me.

I know it's a way of increasing anticipation for the next season but I really don't want to wait for months to see a resolution.

Yea I'm no fan of those as well. And especially ones that either end badly and/or end up making no sense once you do get to see them. All of that build up and for what? *shrug* It ends up being wasted, all of that momentum.

A good number of cliffhangers resolutions result in character death.

Yep. And some end up where a character you liked ended up being either: A) evil; B) double crossing someone; C) said deaths end up being cheap and unearned.

The cost of basic medical in the US. I’ve always been terrified of getting hurt or sick just so I don’t have to pay a hefty bill (even with insurance) to get medicine. Getting a higher education is expensive and it’s even worse that you can barely get a decent paying job without a college degree. Application fees ruined my life since my broke younger self couldn’t afford it.

When people learn that I either support or am against something and automatically assumes that I’m on a certain agenda and side. For instance, I don’t support Trump and I most certainly don’t approve of his actions but then Trump supporters think that I’m some liberal Democrat and are for socialism or something but I’m not! I refuse to be affiliated with any political parties and I truly am an independent voter. I’m fine with it because I think that I should vote for whomever I think will do a better job using my own judgment and not because any political party says I should. I also hate how people think that just because I support the troops that I automatically am okay with war and the damage it can cause. I’m not. I support the troops because I know they are working hard t protect every and are just doing their jobs. Just because I’m against the concept of war in general doesn’t mean that I can’t give support those who risk their lives daily for my safety. War is unfortunately an inevitable part of life and world peace can never truly be achieved in this lifetime and I’ve accepted that fact.

Goodness, I loathe clickbait articles that go, "Which is better, X or Y?" then proceed to rip into X and heap praise on to Y...only to conclude the article by saying "So which is better? It depends on your preferences, each have their strengths and weaknesses".

No. Just...no. You literally spent 10 minutes of my time bashing X only to give a non-committal answer because you're a coward who is being paid off by advertisers you don't want to lose by taking a strong stance.

Absolutely no one reads an article like "What is better? X or Y" expecting an ambiguous answer. They read the article because they want clear pros and cons, and what someone to spoonfeed them a conclusion, because doing the legwork themselves is difficult and time consuming.

Not only that, but the author basically did come to a conclusion by making the article so one-sided. So what was the point of concluding "people have different tastes" if anyone with half a brain could read the article and realize you were clearly bashing X.

I use "X and Y" because this format is ALL OVER THE INTERNET. What is the best music player? Web browser? Shipping service? Search engine?

Every single one ends with an inconclusive answer. And that's awful.

Not an upsetting thing but rather irritating.

Someone says an emotion-based opinion or that they will act on their feelings. People around them are like "No, don't do it" and their reasons can wary between "doesn't help you in this and that", "*interprets it in exaggerated manner*" and "it's not the right thing to do". But when the same person tries to see reason, follows advice of others and pulls shorter end of the stick, people are like "let's react with indifference/apathy, not my problem, why should we care?". Why people even give advice if they don't care what happens to them if they follow that advice? What if the person could've made desired difference by following their emotions? More annoying is that it's so common. Grrrr...

I honestly think this controversy people have over Nike using the Betsy Ross American flag is extremely stupid and pointless! Just because Colonial America had slaves doesn’t mean that the flag is offensive. If it offends you so much then you also should never use one dollar bills or quarters and fifty dollar bills because George Washington And Ulysses S. Grant owned slaves, recognize the Declaration of Independence because Thomas Jefferson had slaves, and not learn about ancient Egypt because they had slaves. I understand slavery was an ugly part of American history but you can’t ignore the subject and not talk about it because then it’s avoiding history which in itself is a crime as no one will ever learn what really happened and the steps from preventing unpleasant events from happening again. And by the way Betsy Ross was from Pennsylvania which never legalized slavery and Mrs. Ross certainly never had any slaves so your claim that the flag represents slavery is useless.

    WizardTrubbish much more beastly

    A couple points:

-as I understand the controversy, Kaepernick pulled the sponsorship not because of an inherent objection to the flag but because it had allegedly been appropriated by contemporary hate groups as a white supremacist symbols. I don't know if that actually happened, but that is something that does happen (ie pepe the frog)

-Some bad history in your post - Slavery wasn't outlawed in Pennsylvania until 1780, and the legend of the Betsy Ross flag dates it to 1776. Also it's true Grant owned a slave, however, he was given to Grant by his father in law and Grant voluntarily freed him after less than a year because he morally opposed slavery.

-There' a difference between not honoring slave owners and not talking about its history. We teach Egypt not because we think an ancient monarchy is a morally praiseworthy model for our society but because it's an important part of history and condemning slavery doesn't change that. We can still remember the Holocaust without constructing monuments to Hitler.

Oh dang, just remembered one I've been passively upset about for some years by now! I don't know how many others are feeling as I do, but nowadays you can't really say any blunt, harsh or extreme opinion without someone asking you to smoothen it, bombard you with facts or question your understanding (although I've done that too sometimes and probably pooped someone elses fun). Even when you do have some deeply reasoned opinions, sometimes it's more refreshing to just say something out of attitude and be like screw what everyone else thinks. These attitudes have also spread to media, so it's no longer entertaining - and heck, media if anything should be entertaining!

I recall some 80s and early 90s shows which I basicly liked because of that attitude thing. Sure, I used to criticise some aspects of it like sexualising female chars too much or giving them only "can be badass but still dependent on men to rescue them" roles and this has gotten better in the newer versions of old shows, for example Transformers! But otherwise the newer versions are less hilarious and less uplifting plot and character wise, even if not too bland and over-appropriate. Even politicians in the real world have more color to their personalities!

I also noticed this in various roleplaying communities. Sure you can still roleplay an extreme evil character, but a character with prejudiges like "this race is rotten, i want to destroy it" or "wo/men should be more... *acts like total jerk*" etc etc... I often get a feeling people are cautious if not even afraid of roleplaying those because they'd often end up into tiresome conversations about "let's love and understand instead of living in petty prejudiges" than find their hilariously egoistic tribes or like-minded people in general.

I also miss the old good vs evil setting in media, because in most cases it didn't negate traitors nor indifference/neutrality from existing!

Oh yeah, before I forget... I vote Lawrence Limburger for the next president of any country aside from my own! Hah!
