As for enjoyability, I take the SM filler episodes over most of the XY filler episodes with the CotD and TRio interruption.

Yeah, not to mention XY and some previous series would shoehorn the old formula at its worst even in some arc episodes if they could get away with it (does Team Rocket being the mastermind behind Goodra's backstory make any real sense?).

I don't think Filler is as often the problem as much as being a stale and repetitive episode which doesn't offer anything interesting to the cast and show. You can apply some continuity and still do it in the dullest and least satisfying way possible.

I always found it to be a rather bleak form of Platinum version promotion, especially since I figure kids would've rather seen more new characters from Platinum rather than Hikari, Satoshi, and Takeshi wearing new Platinum version-inspired coats.

I was mostly referring to the Shinou Frontier Brains [apart from Kurotsugu since he wasn't a new Platinum version character]. Pluto and Handsome appearing was fine I suppose, although I can't imagine that that many viewers cared for Pluto.

Yeah I’m currently doing a run of X and they really did over hype the customization features since there is barely anything to work with. Didn’t realize Serena had more than Calem however.

It's a shame that Calme never appeared in the anime. I expected him to make a movie cameo like Yuki, Koki, and Hibiki did in previous movies, but Calme didn't even get that much. At the very least, he would've been a good candidate to appear in one of the Mega Evolution specials.

As much as I like SM, I wished they did more with the ultra beasts. Like I would’ve liked to see their home worlds. We only saw Nihilego, Guzzlord’s and Poipole’s worlds I think. The same thing applies to ultra megalopolis and how the ultra reacon squad didn’t even show up.

I get that the premise was about getting them out of Alola, but these places looked so cool in game and would’ve made some of the UB episodes better, or at least more interesting (especially the Kartana one).
