• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Things you disliked about X and Y?

pokemon master!!!!
I love this new game but there are a few things that make me annoyed the game being too easy due to the XP share. I keeping thinking my Pokemon are too over levelled. Also, this has been mentioned before but I agree; the lack of types that are super effective against fairy types. Only poison and steel? Well, at least my Sylveon gets a advantage now. Barley any new Pokemon for a new game and not a remake. Another thing about the fairy types is that some of the Pokemon that they made fairy don't make sense like how is Marill, I think that's how you spell his name, a fairy type in my option? Also the rivals don't show up that much, meh, idk.

In my honest opinion, there were very few things I disliked about X and Y. What I disliked most was the lack of character development the Gym Leaders had. They had no real role in the plot, other than Korrina telling you about Mega Evolutions. Another problem was the lack of post game, but the Friend Safari makes up for it a little. Other than that, the games were fantastic.

Also, I don't think that the game was too easy. The Exp. Share was optional, and was most likely intended to help younger children beat the game. After all, they are the target audience. With the Exp. Share off, the game actually becomes hard. Fairy Types are fine, and their lack of weaknesses doesn't bother me. Poison needed a boost, and Steel needed some more offensive usage. I don't see the problem with them having only 2 weaknesses, as Normal and Electric only have one. The small amount of new Pokémon seemed bad at first too, but we also got Mega Evolutions alongside them.

Two words: Pokemon Bank. (And Poke Transporter).

The lack of post E-4 content kiiinda stinks, but tbh after Platinum I kinda started slacking on postgame stuffs anyway. Didn't catch Rayquaza or complete the Safari Zone in HG/SS, Barely did post game stuff in BW/B2W2 as well. I will say they could've at least given us a minor legendary trio to track down in this gen... And no, not a recycled trio from Kanto, Gen 6 is the only generation without a non-version mascot legendary trio -_-

Wasting mega evos on top OU/Ubers threats like Gengar, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Scizor, BLAZIKEN, when more pokemon could have used it. Still, they did an awesome job making the Gen 1 starters relevant again, especially Blastoise who probably hasn't been OU viable since RBY. While I'm at it, most of the megas being fugly and/or not making sense doesn't help. Wearing a wig turns Ampharos from a sheep to a dragon? Okay GameFreak >_>

Marill's Fairy type implies that it's a water nymph.

Ampharos's Japanese name is Electric Dragon.

The E4 being exactly like BW(Only having four Pokemon and being challenged in any order. Go back to the Gen 1-4 ways!)

But I like having my freedom.

It's Japanese name stands for Electric Dragon. It should've been part Dragon in the first place >_>

But the things I hate about XY are

That you need money to train anywhere aside from the E4(The Writs eat up your money once you get to Grand Duke)
The E4 being exactly like BW(Only having four Pokemon and being challenged in any order. Go back to the Gen 1-4 ways!)
The Champion was the weakest Champion we've ever had...
Lack of new Pokemon

I think the heavily lack of post game content has been said a lot, and I agree with it so much.
Also is the lack of character development of the main characters. In Gen V, we had N and Ghetsis.
I love how they were really heavily involved in the game, you really feel their presence.
And some gym leaders like Clay that are visible not just inside the gym. Korina was great but still not enough.

You could always...

...you know...

...not use those features.

If you have to purposefully ignore a part of the game to keep it balanced, it is still unbalanced. There is no defending it, if it was put in the game it was meant to be used. Especially since you were talking about core parts of X and Y which were major selling points of it. Any game you have to play poorly on purpose to get a challenge just includes too much powerful stuff.

I will admit to not having played the games. But I have looked into them and see some returning pet peeves of mine from previous games, along with a new one.

-No upgrades to E4/Champion. When I learned that, I decided I'm just going to wait for the sequel(s) in a couple years and hope they can do something right then.
-3 Pokemon limit on Gym leaders. When I learned about this in Black and White, I thought it was stupid but Game Freak would probably go back to their old ways. WHen I saw it in Black 2 and White 2 I was absolutely annoyed. WHen I saw it for X and Y, I wanted to track down the person/people for that decision and beat them with something heavy. It is an absolutely terrible decision that is weakening what are supposed to be challenges. And with all the complaint I see of these games being too easy, it doesn't seem like they proved mew wrong and made the three-pokemon team work.
-No Dark-type gym. I'm not even that big a fan of Dark-types and I still feel like this was a terrible decision.

I would've liked to see more mega-evos especially for under used (UU) pokemon. For instance, I would have liked a mega-evo for Flygon instead of Garchomp. It could be argued that Mega-Garchomp is one of the weaker megas introduced so it feels like mega evolution was wasted on it.

It also wouldn't hurt if they gave evolutions to forgettable pokemon (like Luvdisc/Dunsparce) and the various electric rodents.

Strongly agree with this point. The thing is that the game difficulty must be based on the experience of the player using ALL of the useful features/elements including the overpowered ones, NOT while gimping for challenge (that is coming from a person who Nuzlocked). This is why most RPGs will never be hard, because they involve the option for grinding, even though many people frown upon this practice and it is not necessary.

Also I am still looking forward to a Dark gym leader. Please!!!

The game is too easy, with or without Exp. Share!

Daisymareep

Beware the cuteness
- I think more weak pokemon should of got a mega evolution
- I am disappoint at the rival and friends. They are really boring to me.
- I didn't care that much for the story but I plan to play again and see if I like it more since I do have the tendency to skip though some text on the first time.

What do I do now?
I liked this game a lot, so I don't have a lot to complain about.
-Lack of Post game
-The Champion being completely obvious and just being a push over (worst champion along with Alder and Iris)
-You have to grind for money
-Didn't care about the rivals, except the male counterpart. The other random girl was thrown in for NO reason.
-Gym leaders and E4 not having a full team when the difficulty demands it. That. Is. Irritating.

Pokemon X & Y versions are my absolute favorite games in the series so far for a variety of reasons, and will most likely be for a very long time. But they aren't perfect, and the main reasons are (in my opinion of course);

1. The lack of post-game content aside from things to do for competitive battlers. People who aren't into competitive battling or filling up the PokeDex will get bored of the games quickly.

2. The fact most of the Pokemon don't use their anime cries, or cries that don't sound like annoying noises fabricated on software that has been obsolete for years. They could at least have been more creative and made the Pokemon sound like interesting mythical creatures.

3. Lack of mega evolutions for all starters. I think it's somewhat ridiculous that the Kalos starter Pokemon weren't given mega evolved forms, and the same goes for many other new Pokemon.

4. No Pokemon World Tournament or some kind of Fighting Dojo that allows players to battle gym leaders once again. Seriously, if HG/SS and BW 2 offered this, why a notably more advanced game have these features?

Pokemon X & Y are great games, and could have been far better (in my opinion of course) if it wasn't for these flaws, and the others I didn't list. But still, I'm betting the next games won't have these flaws.

It's because they want us to get used to the new Pokémon. The same thing can be said for Gen V.

Battle Chateau

Then again, since when did every game that started a new generation ever have a Frontier/PWT thing?

Another thing I was kinda disappointed was that the PokeBank Pokémon (excluding legendaries) weren't included in the Friend Safari along with having to be online as the same player to not only see a third Pokémon but to also activate the hunting for Hidden Abilities within.

Scattar

Sableye Enchancer
I rarely got to use my starters because of the Exp. Share, especially when I caught and leveled up Snorlax. In fact, I rarely got to use any other pokrmon besides snorlax and golett.

Minimal post-game content.

PIKAPIPIKA

Played since Gen 4
The lack of a good postgame.
Only about 70 new pokemon.
The fact you can't directly transfer pokemon without an app.
Oh and the lack of new legendaries also.
Pikachu lost his old cry.

A lot of things, sadly.
