Thinking about buying a revolution

At first I had alot of doubts about revolution due to it's odd controller. Now however I am considering purchasing one for my only next gen console. Could you answer my questions to see if it's a good buy for me. Remember I'm only purchasing one.

1. Will virtual console carry every game on every nintendo console or just nintendo only (I really want to play Golden Eye 64, Chrono Trigger and Resident Evil 0, I'm aware of the minor fee).

2. Will it be no more than $200.00 (I was reading about $150 price tags but I have doubts, the gyros are quite expensive. It doesn't have alot of extra features so it would be nice not to go completely broke on a console launch)

3. Will it release by November of this year

4. Will it be compatible with DS

5. Can it play gamecube games (I sold gamecube before Resident Evil 4 came out, then I got the game as a gift and now I can't play it)

6. Is it compatible with 4 or more wireless controllers

7. Will it have Zelda

I know most of these answers but I just want to confirm my knowledge. I might just buy this as my next gen console if all these are true.

Some 3rd party's are supporting it.

200 seems reasonable but the controllers could be expensive.

3. Will it release by November of this year

It's supposed to be around that time

4. Will it be compatible with DS

Animal Crossing for rev will be compatable (not with ACWW with the DS)

5. Can it play gamecube games (I sold gamecube before Resident Evil 4 came out, then I got the game as a gift and now I can't play it)

Yes

6. Is it compatible with 4 or more wireless controllers

No only 4

7. Will it have Zelda

Yes (virtual boy) and if Nintendo wants money they will make a new one.

I know most of these answers but I just want to confirm my knowledge. I might just buy this as my next gen console if all these are true.

ATTENTION SEREBII QUOTES SHOULD COUNT AS WORDS IN POSTS TOO!

There's a chance that some are. Sega has been thinking about putting old Genesis games on it. I don't see why developers like Square-Enix, Namco, and Capcom wouldn't though, because I don't see how they could lose from it.

Most likely, no. Nintendo consoles haven't been over $200 since the SNES or Virtual Boy IIRC.

The DS, N64, and GCN were all released in November. It's a safe bet.

Both it and the DS have wi-fi capabilities. It will be able to link up wirelessly, I believe. But don't make your decision because of this; remember the XBOX360 -> DS rumors?

Yep. But backwards compatible systems never have full features. We probably won't be able to use the GC's broadband adaptor or Gameboy Player.

Who knows? Maybe more, for tournament games, like SSBR. Who says we can't go to tournament mode and then wait to play a match with our own controller? Unless someone can provide a link that has confirmation of only being able to use 4 controllers, I'm not believing anything.

Name a previous Nintendo system that hasn't had a Zelda game (minus the Virtual Boy).

By the way, what's with the sudden change of heart? I remember arguing with you violently a few months ago. LOL

You have plenty of time to make an informed decision though. If I were you, I'd think it over after this year's E3.

I believe it was Satoru Iwata that said that a new Zelda was already on the way at E3 2005.

No need when by the time Phantasy Star Universe is released in the US for the PS2/PC, Phantasy Star Online will probably be have abandoned by a majority of the population in favor of PSU. Not to mention, the modem and broadband adaptors were only available for PSO Ep. 1 & 2, PSO Ep. 1 & 2 Plus, and PSO Ep. 3.

Microsoft have their own very similiar feature, with games like Street Fighter II coming to it. There could end up being some pretty harsh competition between the two systems there.

Goldeneye 64 however, is one I don't think we will ever see on either of them.. Microsoft own Rare, EA own the Goldeneye liscence.. and I'm sure Nintendo must play some part in there somewhere, it would be far too much hastle for anyone to try and get that released. The original Perfect Dark however, is a very real possibility, especially with Rare working on Perfect Dark 2. But it seems as if Nintendo may have sold Rare off a little too early.

The Chrono Trigger team is also now a part of Mistwalker, who are also owned by Microsoft.. I could see that effecting the release of a lot of the old Square games.

And yeah, although the console itself is cheap, Nintendo have already said there will be a lot of controller attachments, I can see them releasing a lot of those that only work with one or two games, and will probably be quite expensive.. e-cards/bongo drums anyone?

After re-examining revolution it looks like the making of a great console. If virtual console carries every game from every nintendo console that's enough to qualify my purchase. It will be a little sad if only nintendo games are available for download though. I am also pretty interested in a Zelda game for revolution(imagines actually destroying zombies with the controller in Zelda). My only gripe with the console is that it is rumored to have many add-ons we'll have to buy to play some of the games. Buying all those add-ons could make up for the cheap price of the console. I'm still not set on buying one, in fact I'm still leaning towards a PS3 or 360, revolution just looks a lot more interseting after I thought it over. After e3 I'll make my decision.

Microsoft have their own very similiar feature,

I know, I used it on my old xbox, it's called xbox live arcade, but what would you rather have, some older arcade games with a few good promising titles vs. the entire (hopefully) nintendo library. Not to mention those games on xbox live arcade go for an expensive $10-$15 each. You'd have to be a fanboy/girl if you can't admit the entire nintendo library is better than the xbox live arcade. Still if microsoft makes exclusive deals with sega and square this could get interesting.

The 360's arcade is a LOT better than it was on the original Xbox, but I never said it was better than Nintendo's library, but not all of them are just old arcade games, a few companys are making brand new titles for it, and as I mentioned before, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps, etc have a pretty big chance of going to the XBL Arcade, rather than Nintendo's. And most of the Live Arcade games cost less than $5, but if you're expecting Nintendo to release the downloadable games for that price, then I think a lot of people will be in for a shock. Remember, almost all of them are games that could, and in some cases still are sold for full price. Why give Mario 3 away for $5 when people are paying $30 for it on the GBA? Not trying to downplay Nintendo here, or saying it's not worth it, I'm just throwing out facts.

The extra attachments may only stack the console's price up to the XBOX360's or PS3's. It is NOT cheaper to buy a more expensive console that has one controller, when the games are $10 or $20 more expensive. The difference in game costs between the Revolution and PS3 may as well be the price of a new controller attachment.

The bongos were $20... cheaper than replacing a new controller (unless you buy the new controller at Target), and they don't need to be replaced. It does only work for a few games, but last time I checked, there's another game coming out that uses them.

A bit off topic, but I still don't get why people whine and moan about Nintendo having a $20 controller that is only used on 3 games, and are completely silent about a $30 Eyetoy that Sony has, which has no more amount of games that use it.
