This is really odd

I've got a golbat that i'm trying to evolve into a crobat, and every time it levels up, it will start evolving, then stop and give me the

...? thing. I never hit B multiple times, it's not holding an everstone, in fact, it's not holding anything, I hit no buttons at all when it starts, I don't know what's going on, can someone help me out?

Two words: National Dex.

You get it after E4 is beaten once, and then you should have 60 Pokémon in your Kanto Dex. Then you can get National Dex from Prof. Oak.

U can only get new Generation(2,3) Pkmn after battling the Elite 4 and catching at least 60 Pkmn....then your Pokedex will get an uptade and you can have new Generation Pkmn!

You haven't gotten the National Dex, have you? You need them before getting Johto and Hoenn pokemon.
