People always misinterpret balance in the Force (Star Wars) as good and evil being equal. But the Force is basically just space Taoism, and in Taoism, evil is the imbalance of the Tao, so it is supposed to be eliminated. Anakin didn't bring balance by killing the Jedi, but rather in episode VI, where he killed the Emperor, fracturing the Empire.
