Thoughts on the Upcoming Pokemon Switch Game?

So, Pokenchi is to reveal an exclusive trailer on 16th of September which makes me wonder for what reason Masuda is appearing/appeared(?) in this episode?

What’s more important to stop here?

You said it yourself that save back-ups are just a quality of life feature. They're something that make life easier, not something that is by any means needed or necessary. yes, it's nice to have, but the past 22 years of Pokémon have proven that it's something we can easily live without. Nobody's being punished to any significant degree.

EDIT: also wtf is this cheating argument anyway lol. Are you saying they’ll revert to a last save if something goes wrong? Or that it’ll make people save edit? News flash, a) people already can save edit, not condoning it though and b) there are measures against extreme save editing already in play in gen 7.

Think about it this way. A person transfers their super rare, event-exclusive Pokémon to these games via bank and back-up their game. They then trade this Pokémon to a friend. Then, they revert their save file to the previous back-up, and voila, now both that person and there friend have this rare Pokémon. Now both of these people can proceed to repeat this process as many with as many people as they want. If something is that easy to abuse, it will run rampant.

Yes, people already hack the games for similar results, but the difference is that hacking requires special programs and technical knowledge, while save back-ups is something that can used by any random eight year old. It's hard enough for Game Freak to controls the cheaters now, give people save back-ups, and it will be impossible.

I really like that Pikachu and Eevee could use special field moves without relying on move slots.
This is a feature I've been waiting since Gen 4's Ranger. And I hope to see this applied in Gen 8 onwards.

But this means that Pikachu and Eevee are required to be in your party.
I know some people will box them. But hey, the PC box is easily accessed in the bag.

I liked how Pikachu's new move is a reference to Surfing Pikachu and gives it coverage against Ground-types and that Eevee's new move allows it to get coverage against Steel-types. It's good they don't take up a moveslot but I still wonder if these moves will stick along with the Pokémon if they are transferred to other games.

Well, this isn't quite how I wanted HMs handled, but it is better than how Sun and Moon handled them. At least we're using our own Pokémon this way.

Surprised and confused by the new moves. Both seem incredibly random, and somewhat pointless. At this point I'm assuming they're exclusive to Eevee and Pikachu, which makes them even more bizarre.

But this means that Pikachu and Eevee are required to be in your party.

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but wasn't it at one point said that even if you put your partner Pokémon into the PC, it will still ride on your shoulder? If so, then you may not even need them on your team to use the techniques.

Back when Tigers used to smoke.
Kind of surprised that they decided to put an actual in-game surfing Pikachu model. Here's an interesting fact about Pikachu's surfboard. In the Adventures manga, it's explained that Pikachu can create a surfboard or balloons by molding it from the move substitute, which can create decoy objects, from a mobile clone to a plushie doll, from a Pokemon's body.

Oh, I didn't know that. If that's the case, then that's actually nice.

Then if they're not field moves and since the starter Pokémon isn't in the party, then the player shouldn't be able to send the starter Pokémon in battle. Therefore in that case, the special moves can't be used in battle unless there are other circumstances that allow otherwise.

Well I'll be. Pokenchi actually provided some decent information.

I must say, I like that Game Freak working diligently to keep HMs removed from gameplay. It means we can expect this for future titles as well, even possibly for remakes. As for the footage shown, I'm really feeling these new moves, even the Splash Surf. Seeing Eevee battle kinda makes me want to keep it on my team, but if I want to have my Lorelei team, the little booger's gotta go.

Everything stinks
New trilers have droped.

Also, both erica's gym and design lookin nice. Not only is she using her Red/Blue team, her vileplume is also 5 levels higher than it was in said games.

God, the names for these moves are terrible. lol

Celadon City looks amazing, though, and I see they've truly converted the Game Corner into an arcade.

Too much alliteration.

But I still liked the Celadon City showcase at least. Erika's Gym looks nice inside and at seems to be a decent one to battle against.

Only GF can dumb down a game this much and still know sales will be good.

This is beyond taking the the p now. Might be an overreaction over some attack names but fully shows their intent for the games. I am very worried for the future of Pokemon. We had to take 5 steps back in Gen 6 and after USUM managed to get back to where we were and now taking 15,000 steps back. I don't for a second believe Gen 8 is going to go on like LGPE didn't happen.

Not necessarily true. Remember in ORAS you didn’t need you Lati on hand to use the Soar mechanic. They just instantly appear as soon as you played the Eon Flute and took off with you on your back. And technically the Ride Pokemon in Alola aren’t in your Party or even owned by you. I think that the special field moves are an extension of Soaring annd Ride Pokemon.

In the Japanese trailer when you fly to Celadon City it has a list of notable places in the city. There are two that seem to be new to the game. There is a Partner Move Tutor and a Fortune Teller. I'm not sure if that is the Japanese name for a generic move tutor, but I assume it would be a specialist move tutor for Pikachu and Eevee. I don't remember if there was originally a fortune teller in Celadon but I believe it is a new addition.

As for the new moves, I think it is nice that Eevee finally has some variety of moves that can be useful for it's evolutions either as STAB or coverage. Hopefully these moves are not only specific for your partner Eevee and can be learned by wild Eevees as well.

How many times does Masuda have to reassure you people that Let's GO will not affect the main series in any way before you all actually listen to him?

Anyhoo, I must say, despite the obviously intended chibi-like appearance, the human models are coming out very nicely. The Black Belt model is nicely to scale and appropriately muscular. The Beauty model is also incredibly well done, and rather faithful to the original incarnation while still being fresh. It makes me excited to see how they'll be implemented with Gen 8's graphics. Pity about Erika, though. She actually looks rather plain. I was shocked, honestly. She looks more like an overworld NPC than a gym leader.

The fortune teller will probably just be a place you go if you forget what you're supposed to be doing or you need a hint like in some other RPG's. Like they'll tell you about the poster in the game corner or which gym leader you're supposed to face next

If someone Ever KO'd my Pokémon with a move called Bouncy Bubble, I'd be too busy laughing to care about losing. I like that they're giving them an expanded moveset to justify using them.

This game at least got Celadon looking great. Erika still seems like she needs a foot in her face.

So are those partner moves (the ones used against Misty and Surge's Pokémon) supposed to be an alternative to Z Moves? Hell one of them gives a stat boost to a Jigglypuff. I wonder what they'll add next: you can press a button and the trainers automatically lose against you.

An arcade? Why couldn't they have done this in ORAS? I miss getting Psychic early game

This game at least keeps up with its great looks

omg perfect, I am definitely more excited for the games now. I like how they're really pushing the relationship between eevee/pikachu and the trainer.

In future games, I hope this feature will stay in a way. Whatever starter you choose should be able to help you out with these things.
