It appears I have looted some time travel in pokemon.
(this was achieved with Ash's Greninja on Pokemon Moon, Outstanding Potential, Water Shuriken)

the strategy to do such a thing is simple (you may have already been doing this strategy)

you must defeat as many trainers as you can through play throughs of the pokemon games, meaning that you have to look for all the trainers in each nook and cranny in order to defeat them all

then with the time travel you defeat conspiracies and the such, maybe even worse things than conspiracies

other instances of such a thing are noted in Super Smash Bros. Melee and possibly other games
