The Blazikenator
Hello! This is a remake of the thread I made in 2005 plus the advice others posted in it. Please, if you need advice involving the Elite Four or have some suggestions, please post them below. Thank you to those who posted info before.

If you are about to battle the Elite 4, here are some tips before you take them on:
* Save attacks with low PP for when you need them most This means attacks like One Hit KO's or high-powered attacks like Thunder and Blizzard. Use them against the strongest opponent that is weak against that attack.
* Use items when your opponent is about to use an item So when you get your opponent's Pokemon's HP in to the red or low-yellow, use an item if needed, because chances are your opponent will use a Full Restore at this time.
* Give the Amulet Coin to a Pokemon that is strongest or gets the most use This way, you get extra money, and if you lose to the champion, [SPOIL]who is your rival[/SPOIL], you will have a little money to get more Hyper Potions or what ever you need for the next match.
* Teach Pokemon moves of different types A pretty good example would be my Nidoking's moveset: Thunder (Electric), Megahorn (Bug), Horn Attack (Normal), Counter (Fighting, though it works the same with all types).
* Add a Haunter to your team I know what you're thinking: that's just my own opinion! Not necessarily. Haunter can learn Curse, a move that, even though it halves Haunter's original HP, it decreases your opponent's HP steadily. It may finish your opponent off for you, before he or she can use a Full Restore.
* Use dual type Pokemon Pokemon like, say... Onix, Articuno, Parasect, etc. Also, don't use more than 1 or 2 at the most that share a type. For example: Golbat, Charizard, Fearow. All of those are Flying types, so whichever has types that compliment each other the most.
* Add a Dragon-type to your team Dragon-types have only two weaknesses: Ice and other Dragons. If you don't manage to catch one in the Safari Zone, exchange coins for one at the Rocket's Game Corner.

Here are the Pokemon of the Elite 4:

Lorelei:

I hope you don't mind if I add on some info.
-Type matchups are the best way to take care of the Elite 4. Make sure to have a combination of the following types and moves: electric, fire, psychic, ice, water, flying, and preferrably a pokemon with shadow ball or crunch.
-Complete the Sevii Islands quest for Bill before you challenge the Elite 4, as island 1 is a great place to train.
-Catch the legendary birds, and teach zapdos an electric move. The birds will help a lot in conquering the Elite 4, as they are all high-stat, level 50 pokemon.
-Buy a lot of good healing items and PP recovery.
-Attach items like berries or leftovers to your pokemon.
-Save right before challenging the Elite 4, and if you lose, soft reset your gameboy (a+b+start+select) and try again.
-Use PP Up's on Thunderbolt, Psychic, and Ice Beam.

Strategies:
Loreli
Dewgong-Goes down to a few thunderbolts, sometimes you can get Loreli to use all of her full restores on dewgong, which makes the rest of the battle a lot easier.
Cloyster-Goes down to a few thunderbolts, pretty easy.
Slowbro-Goes down to a few thunderbolts, also pretty easy, although amnesia can make it tougher for you.
Jynx-Goes down to a few flamethrowers, but watch out for psychic and ice beam.
Lapras-Goes down to quite a few thunderbolts, by far the hardest, as its stats are very high, and thunderbolts don't do nearly as much damage here as they do to the other pokes. Watch out for surf and ice beam.

Bruno
Onix-Surf or Cross Chop, may use sandstorm.
Onix-Surf or Cross Chop, may use sandstorm.
Machamp-Psychic or Drill Peck, not much of a problem, strong attacks though.
Hitmonlee-Psychic or Drill Peck, not much of a problem, strong attacks though.
Hitmonchan-Psychic or Drill Peck, watch out for elemental punches.

Agatha
Gengar-Use psychic, easy.
Gengar-Use psychic, easy.
Haunter-Use psychic, easy.
Arbok-Use psychic, easy.
Golbat-Use psychic, or use thunderbolt if psychic's PP has run out.

Lance
Gyarados-Thunderbolt, an OHKO.
Aerodactyl-Ice Beam it.
Dragonite-Ice Beam it.
Dragonair-Ice Beam it.
Dragonair-Ice Beam it.

Rival
Pidgeot-Thunderbolt or Ice Beam.
Alakazam-Shadow Ball or Crunch if possible, otherwise just use strong physical attacks.
Rhydon-Ice Beam or Surf.

Arcanine-Surf.
Exeggutor-Flamethrower or Drill Peck.
Blastoise-Thunderbolt.

Arcanine-Surf.
Gyrados-Thunderbolt.
Charizard-Thunderbolt or Surf.

Exeggutor-Flamethrower or Drill Peck.
Gyrados-Thunderbolt.
Venesaur-Flamethrower, Psychic, Drill Peck, or Ice Beam.

You're now champion!

Just my two cents, hope it helps, more as I think of it.

One thing it's sure... To beat easily the Elite4, I would say that you should have Pkmn/attack types from Dragon, Electricity and Ice... these 3 types provide you advantage against: Electricity-Lorelei, Agatha & Lance; Dragon-Bruno, Agatha & Lance; Ice-Agatha & Lance.

My own tips for beating the E4:
1) Get Zapdos. It will save your sorry *** against Lorelei if you play Charizard.
2) If you dislike Legends, Magneton comes to mind.
3) Psychic Weapons pwn Agatha. That is all. (Meaning Alakazam, Kadabra, traded stuff, Slowpoke/bro/king and stuff.)
4) Continue pwnage of Bruno with Zapdos and psychic of choice. Personally I trashed the Rocks with Primaepe but it's your choice.
5) Lance = Ice/Dragon = Articune/Dragonite /w Dragon Claw
6) Champion is generally easily beaten if you have anything superior to Raticates.

Watch out for Ancient Power from Aerodactyl; if you're using an Ice type to Ice Beam it, the Ancient Power might well OHKO your Ice type before you knock out the Aerodactyl. Lapras, being pretty slow, is especially vulnerable to this. Jynx, because of her almost nonexistant Defense stats, is almost sure to go down to one Ancient Power. Just as a heads-up.

Random tips:
Using a Lapras? Slap a Thunderbolt on her. Great for Lorelei's tougher Pokemon, including her own Lapras. Ice attacks aren't very effective and Water attacks replenish your HP due to Water Absorb. Probably won't OHKO anything, but works better than Pikachu.

For those who over-train for the Elite Four, let me set the record straight. It is possible to beat the Elite Four and rival with a team trained to levels 40-45. The key here is type advantages. In other words, don't send a bunch of Onix against Lorelei and expect to win. A Thunderbolter? A Brick Breaker? Now you're talking. Carry Hyper Potions, Full Restores, PP restorers (Leppa berries are your friend; they're cheap and accessible by trading as well as on the ground in the Berry Forest) and Revives. Use Leftovers if you have them; if not, go stand on the exact spot where the Snorlaxes were and use the Itemfinder, then use what you'll find. Make the most of the Pokemon you have. Do you know your team? Are you set to use the above tips? Good. Now stop worrying about your team's levels and go challenge the Elite already.

Save up any Ethers or Elixers you get when you play. Leppa Berries might come in handy as well.

Hmm...I don't think anyone posted about beating the Elite Four a second time, when they level up their Pokemon and get new ones. I'll add in my tips for that.

1. It is possible to defeat the new-and-improved Elite Four with Pokemon that are around Level 50, but it will require LOTS of Full Restores, Revives, and other items.
2. Have a good all-around team with different types. Don't use more than two Pokemon of the same type.
3. Be sure to have powerful moves like Ice Beam, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Surf, and Flamethrower up your arsenal. Don't rely on inaccurate attacks like Thunder or Blizzard.
4. Save your strongest moves for the strongest opponents. Don't waste your last Thunderbolt on an easy Pokemon.
5. I recommend that you train your Pokemon up to at LEAST Level 65; this will make your battles with the Elite 4 much easier. A good place to train would be on the 7th Sevii Island with the two Cooltrainers near the house with the guy that teaches you the Chansey Dance.
6. Type match-ups are your friend.

Now for the Elite Four and their Pokemon...

Lorelei
Dewgong (Male), L64: A few Thunderbolts should take him out. Brick Break and Rock Slide are also useful against him.
Piloswine (Male), L63: Lorelei has replaced her Slowbro with this. It's definitely the easiest Pokemon to take out; defeat it with Flamethrower, Brick Break, or Surf. Strong Grass-type moves work also.
Cloyster (Male), L63: Don't bother using physical moves against Cloyster, as he has very powerful Defense. Knock him out with Thunderbolt, or another strong Special attack.
Jynx (Female), L66: Jynx is a little more difficult to beat than most of Lorelei's Pokemon. Take her out with Flamethrower, or, if possible, Shadow Ball or Rock Slide. Watch out for Ice Beam and Lovely Kiss.
Lapras (Male), L66: Lapras is very hard to take out, having high HP and defensive stats. Batter him with Thunderbolt, Rock Slide, or Brick Break. Beware of Ice Beam, Thunder, and Surf. If I remember correctly, Lapras knows Psychic also, so watch out for that.

Bruno
Steelix (Male), L65: Don't bother trying to use physical attacks against Steelix. Take him out with Surf or Flamethrower. Watch out for Iron Tail.
Hitmonchan (Male), L65: Take Hitmonchan out with Psychic, or Drill Peck.
Hitmonlee (Male), L65: Beat Hitmonlee with Psychic or Drill Peck; not too different from Hitmonchan.
Machamp (Male), L68: I'd recommend using Psychic over a Flying move, as Machamp has good Defense. Watch out for his Cross Chop and Rock Slide.
Steelix (Male), L66: Same as the first Steelix, really...Beat him with Flamethrower or Surf. But be careful about Earthquake.

Agatha
Gengar (Male), L66: This is an annoyer Gengar. Take him out with Crunch, Psychic, or Shadow Ball. Don't use Ground moves against him, as his ability is Levitate. Watch out for Hypnosis, Dream Eater, and (if I remember correctly) Confuse Ray.
Crobat (Male), L66: Take him out with Psychic, Ice Beam, or Thunderbolt. Be careful about Shadow Ball and Confuse Ray.
Misdreavus (Male), L65: Defeat it with Crunch or Shadow Ball. Watch out for Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Shadow Ball.
Gengar (Male), L70: This is a tough Pokemon to beat. Watch out for Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt. A few Crunches or Shadow Balls should take him out.
Arbok (Male), L68: Defeat it with Earthquake or Psychic. Beware of Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain.

Lance
Gyarados (Male), L68: Very easy to defeat...OHKO him with Thunderbolt. But also watch out for Dragon Dance, Earthquake, and Hyper Beam. I believe Gyarados knows Thunder Wave too, so hopefully your Pokemon that knows Thunderbolt is fast.
Dragonite (Male), L66: Ice Beam is your friend. Dragon Claw works also.
Kingdra (Male), L66: Kingdra, having good defensive stats, isn't easy to take out. Dragon Claw would be best.
Dragonite (Male), L72: Two words: Ice Beam. Dragon Claw is good too, but Ice Beam is much more useful against this Dragonite.
Aerodactyl (Male), L70: This thing is painfully fast. Watch out for Earthquake...Defeat him with Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, or Surf. A strong Steel move would also work.

Rival
Heracross (Male), L72: Very tough Pokemon...Use a good Flying move against him. Psychic or Flamethrower would work also. Beware of Megahorn and Rock Tomb.
Blastoise (Male), L75: Your rival will use Blastoise if you chose Charmander as your starter. Watch out for Hydro Pump and Ice Beam. Batter Blastoise with Thunderbolt.
Alakazam (Male), L75: Shadow Ball is your friend; Crunch is very useful also. Alakazam will go down to strong physical attacks too. Watch out for Psychic and Shadow Ball though.
Exeggutor (Male), L73: Beware of Sleep Powder. Use strong Flying moves like Drill Peck, or take it out with Ice Beam or Flamethrower.
Tyranitar (Male), L72: This is one tough puppy. He will cause a Sandstorm that gets annoying over time. Take him out with Fighting moves like Brick Break. Surf works well also.
Arcanine (Male), L73: Take him out with Surf or Earthquake. Beware of Overheat and Iron Tail.

That was just the team your rival uses if you chose Charmander as your starter...So, yeah. I hope I helped. And please correct me if I got anything wrong.

This thread should definitely be stickied; it's very useful and will stop those help threads.

I would like to say that the elite four are very much the same in RBY as they are for FL except for the moves they posess. Which in basis does make them harder than in RBY. It is the same moveset as RB though so no one should have too much problem figuring it out. And what's with spoilering the chapion's identity? Everybody knows it's your rival.

I would now like to add my advice. Zapdos. Essential. Even for those that don't like to use legendaries, as I don't, use it. It can easily wipe out just about anything lorelei and bruno have in less than one or two hits save onix and jynx and is also useful for any flying type anybody else has as well as your rival's water type. Zapdos is as good or better than any other electric type out there at the beginning of the game.

Shouldn't you post the pokemon levels and their resistances because someone can have problem anymore?

Pokemon with high Special attack can come in handy because most pokemon are weak against attacks of a special nature. Of course, the E4's pokemon are weak against some physical moves but you more commonly see a Steelix (or onix) get killed by water than fighting.
Lorlei can be easily killed by thunder/bolt and flamethrower. Both Sp Att.
Bruno is weak against Psychic and water/fire. Again special attacks
Agatha usually loses to a psychic type and most of those attacks are special attacks
Lance's pokemon, in general, are weak against Ice. Only the Champion has some physical weaknesses.

Here's a tip i use: instead of having a team, where in a E4 battle, you have to use different pokemons, choose only one. For example:
Lorelai: Zapdos or another strong electric pokemon
Bruno: Zapdos/Moltres/Charizard (watch out for machamp)/Lapras/Blastoise
Agatha: Mewtwo/Alakazam are your friends! Calm Mind is an excelent move for this trainer
Lance: Blastoise/Lapras with Ice Beam are the solution. I didn't mention Articuno due to its low stats...
Gary: well, he has a mixed team...however, two/three pokemon should do the job! Lapras/Blastoise can destroy the elemental trio (grass/fire/water), although Lapras can learn Thunderbolt, move used to destroy Gyarados or Blastoise...Heracross should go out quickly with a Drill Peck, as well as Alakazam. Its normal defences are horrible, but it's fast enough to summon a Reflect, move that i think it has. Then, it begins Calm Minding, and you should KO it before it is very powerful...Tyranitar can be defeated by Lapras/Blastoise...
So, that makes:
Zapdos/Lapras/Charizard should defeat the Elite4 easily, if they are properly trained...

thunder and blizzard are very bad moves except if you are using thunder in rain.
accuracy plays an important role
i beat the elite 4 with the 3 birds around level 53
