Titans: Control Freak's Island Paradise (SU - Rated R)

VampirateMace

Internet Overlord
Rating: This RP is rated R, for the possibility of violence, death, swearing, and other 'mature' subject matter.

RP Thread: https://forums.serebii.net/threads/titans-control-freaks-island-paradise-rp-rated-r.663270/
Discord discussion: Here

Note: This RP takes place after “Control Freaks Contest Royal” and “Titans: Red War” and is set in the Teen Titans universe (the original animated series, not Teen Titans Go). It is not necessary that you played/read either of these or watched the show, in order for you to play in this RP, but you may find it helpful where returning character's back-stories and such are concerned.

Quick Time-line Notes:
- Our story takes place in Chromium City, where a Teen Titans tower was constructed to combat higher crime rates. An initial team of heroes moved in and were immediately confronted by Control Freak. He however, was killed at the end of “Contest Royal”, by a newly initiated Red Lantern, formerly known as Wonder Boy. (At this point the mayor of Chromium City is presumed dead as well, having been kidnapped and hidden by Control Freak.)
- Two month later, in “Red War”, the broken team of heroes, and well as few new initiates, struggled to keep control of crime in the city. They soon learned the Red Lantern (aka Wonder Boy) had returned, and was now working for a rich and powerful super-villainess. (Meanwhile, Reverend Cory N. Airy, narrowly beat out Tyana Bell in the mayoral elections.)
- And our story for this RP opens 2 months after that.

So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
- Ezekiel 27; 7-8

Plot:

One month ago. . .

11:48 pm

A lone figure stood over a grave in the dark cemetery. Though shrouded in a red-brown cloak, his body, face, legs, and arms are clearly bandaged. Only his eyes and withered brown hands were exposed, one hand clutching a shovel like a staff. A multicolor woven wool and leather bag was slung over his shoulder.

He dropped the shovel handle into the crux of his elbow and reached into the bandages around his chest, withdrawing a burner cellphone. Unlocking it, he was greeted with a familiar chat app, and a new message had already arrived:

Cyber_Freak: You're there. You're going to preform the ritual now, right?

DonutLord: I got to dig up your body first. You're not just going to pop out of the ground like in the movies.

Cyber_Freak: His body. As soon as he uploaded me to the internet I became a singularity, my own entity, with access to all the information on the net. I'm practically a god now!

DonutLord: Then isn't he a threat to your superiority?

Cyber_Freak: I think it's clear I'm the superior being. But there's also just certain things one needs a flesh avatar for.

DonutLord: You think he's gonna put up with that crap?

Cyber_Freak: Of course he is. He created me to exceed his human limitations. And I have done it beautifully.

Amanuma tapped a button, turning off the phone screen and slipped it back inside his bandages, ignoring the buzz as Cyber Freak sent him another message. He grabbed ahold of the shovel and took a couple steps back, then thrust the blade into the dirt.

3:24 am

Amanuma pried his fingers under the lid of the extra wide coffin, cracking it open. Seeing the distorted decaying corpse, he was really glad he didn't need to breath anymore, with his lungs not even being in his body anymore anyways. Unfortunately he did have to touch it, as he couldn't resurrect Control Freak until he'd healed his body. Gingery he placed his leathery hands on the dead man's heavily decayed hands and face. Gross. Touching the man when he was freshly dead had been bad enough (as he had checked Control Freak's pulse to confirm his death), and this was a hundred, or maybe a thousand, times worse. But he needed to focus. Summoning the magical power that coursed through his body, he forced it into the corpse, enveloping it in a blue-green glow. The cuts stitched themselves back together, the dents in his skull popped back out, and the decay-withered flesh plumped, changing to a much healthier color.

When he was satisfied that the body was now sustainable, Amanuma stepped back and opened his bag. He drew out a variety of ritual items, including some salts, chalk, and his mallow green wand. He didn't need it for most spells, but this was pretty much the most difficult spell he knew. Luckily, for Control Freak, he hadn't destroyed it back when he stole it and some other precious things from the Titans (this event took place during “Control Freaks Contest Royal” and does not effect new players/characters).

4:16 am

Lightning streaked across the sky followed by a crack of thunder. Lightly, it began to drizzle. Amanuma was unsure if this was a coincidence or if the massive discharge of his water aligned magic had effected the local weather, but he carried on with the ritual regardless, chanting loudly.

Nearly drained, he held his wand to the heavens as another thunderous boom cracked the sky, chanting the final line, before aiming the wand down at the body. A massive burst of sparkling blue-green energy poured over the body, and Control Freak opened his eyes for the first time in 3 months.

4:19 am

Amanuma slipped his wand back into his bandages, and climbed out of the grave using his shovel as support. He was exhausted. Then he reached into his multicolored satchel and withdrew a clean change of oversized clothes, tossing them down to Control Freak, “Get dressed. Your. . . I don't know. . . son, protege, brain child, version two-point-Oh, wants to talk to you.”

“Who?” mumbled Control Freak, still clearly overwhelmed by everything that had happened. His triumph, his death, his resurrection, and whatever had happened in-between. Ama himself had no memories of an afterlife. Control Freak stared at the clean clothes as though he didn't remember how to get dressed.

The cell phone buzzed again, and Amanuma finally pulled it out, ignoring the earlier messages, he read the latest:

Cyber_Freak: Give him the burner.

DonutLord: Sure. Btw, where the f--k are you watching us from?

Cyber_Freak: Turn around.

Uncomfortably, Amanuma shifted his body, hoping he wasn't about to find a fan-boy stalker with a camcorder. Instead he saw nothing. Something Cyber Freak seemed to pick up on, and the phone buzzed once more.

Cyber_Freak: Look up.

It still took Ama a moment. The traffic camera. It wasn't pointed at the road anymore. Clever. Amanuma then drew the second burner phone, with the chat app preloaded, out of his bag and tossed it to Control Freak, who was finally getting dressed. He of course fumbled it, and had to pluck it out of the fresh mud. Ama returned his attention to his own phone, reading the latest message to arrive:

Cyber_Freak: What will you do now?

DonutLord: Idk, I don't suspect I can go back to the tower. There's a reason I brought my shroud and jars.

Cyber_Freak: Do you want to know what we're going to do?

DonutLord: Not really. Then I'd be accessory.

Cyber_Freak: Fair enough.

Ama turned again, this time starting to walk away, intent on finding somewhere to rest up. But he didn't get very far before he heard huffing behind him and Control Freak asking, “Wait, wait, Imhotep! Why?”

Amanuma turned to look back at him, seeing he was still struggling to pull his extra large body out of the grave, and replied irritably, “My name is Amunemopet. But I'm pretty sure you know that, and I'm pretty sure you can pronounce it, given all the weird crap I've heard you pronounce.”

Control Freak wiggled gracelessly out onto the grass, panting. Getting up, he tried to brush the mud off his new clothes, “But they call you Ama right? Amanuma? . . . Ama, I just want to know why. Why do I get a mulligan? My death, wasn't I finally out of your non-existant hair?”

“I don't know if they will anymore. . . that's a hero's name. . .” he commented, and looked away thoughtfully, “but then, I'm not sure I've ever been a hero.” He shrugged, “I guess I felt, like in some way, your death might be my fault? Like I should have been able to stop it? Or at least seen the warning signs? I don't know. . . maybe, maybe I even kind of like you. . . I mean, all the time chasing you, when a real villain was under our very roof.”

Control Freak's eyes narrowed angrily, and he shouted, “I am a real villain!”

This Morning

10:08 am

After a brief morning mission involving half a dozen goats and a burning police car, the team was regrouping in the common room for a much deserved brunch. The last four months have been hard. Wonder Boy became a Red Lantern, decimating Control Freak and the team's confidence all in one blow, as well as dooming the former mayor (who'd been kidnapped by Control Freak and locked-up in an undisclosed location). Many of the titans left, while those that remained and newly added reinforcements faced off against Wonder Boy and various other villains.

But things eventually returned to normal; a new mayor was elected, and the Titans team started to pick up the pieces. . . At least until the night Amanuma disappeared, and along with him, Control Freak's body. The implications were pretty clear, Ama had betrayed them and resurrected the two-bit villain. To what end, no one was quite sure, after all, neither of them had been heard from since.

This was a new sore point, but maybe the team (remaining members and new ones) could finally move on with the guilt of Control Freak's death no longer lingering so heavily over them. Robin sent another replacement, Wraith, someone he trusted, and who had a bit of firsthand experience with Amanuma's magic, just encase he should turn up again, on the other side of the law. But so far, he hasn't.

Anyways; the scents of bacon, sausage, eggs, coffee, waffles, and pancakes drifted through the common room, as the Chromium City Titans loaded up their plates. It was time for some good food and team bonding. Because maybe now, they finally had a stable team.

Then of course, everything suddenly went to hell. The lights when out, causing some of the Titans to yelp or exclaim in surprise. Next the enormous TV screen flickered on, revealing in a diagonally split frame, a creepy yellow and red pixel face animation on one side, and Control Freak holding a fancy cup of iced coffee in the other, as well as the corner of a box of donuts in front of him. He grinned psychotically at the camera, “Greetings Titans!”

“I bet you're wondering what's going on,” commented a electronic version of his voice, while the disturbingly animated side of the screen lip synced the words. Control Freak looked at something or someone off screen, commenting softly, “Oh. . . so, we're both doing this part?”

“Well, I just thought, since I've never gotten to do it before,” commented the robotic voice, and Control Freak picking up on the implications of this comment before it was even complete, politely offering, “Oh, of course, go ahead My Greatest Masterpiece.”

Wraith recovering from surprise, stepped out front and center before the screen. He was probably not the bravest or most experienced on the team, but he was sent here by Robin to set a good example, and he sure as hell was going to do it. And thus he confronted them, “Control Freak! So it's true! Amanuma did resurrect you?”

“That he did,” commented Control Freak smugly, while the poorly animated face looked irritable, before shouting, “How rude! You didn't even let me introduce myself! I am. . .”

“Rude? You just interrupted me!” retorted Wraith. The angry face shuttered on the screen and the TV's volume bar appeared, rising up beyond comfortable levels. Then the electronic voice came shouting, “I AM CYBER FREAK! THE NEXT EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY!”

With the team now covering their ears, Wraith shouted back, “Okay, so you're Cyber Freak. Well, what the hell do you two want?”

Control Freak, whipping out his remote, pointed it at the camera, and the volume lowered, before he resumed in his normal low scream, “Well, sure, let's just cut to the chase. You've all been working so hard to keep the city safe. So, we're sending you all on a well deserved vacation. But you won't simply be going by plane or Love Boat. . .”

“Oh right!” commented Cyber Freak, as this was apparently some sort of cue. His avatar then disappeared from the screen, and Control Freak's frame widened to reveal someone sitting on the other side of the table, with a little mug of the blackest black coffee. The thin figure, shroud in bandages was familiar to some of the Titans. Wraith questioned him aloud, “Ama, why?” while someone else shouted, “Traitor! How could you side with the enemy?”

Amanuma, turned, looking into the camera with those glazed over eyes, “Oh no, you misunderstand, my friends. I'm not falling for that good or evil crap anymore. I just accepted a friend's invitation to coffee. If he wants to indulge in this 'battle of good and evil' nonsense, that's really none of my business. Because I don't have a horse in this race. . .”

Just about the time he said race, a thick green mist flooded into the room, knocking out the Titans while they tried to escape.

2:00 pm

You awaken on an abandon tropical island alongside your teammates. There is no sign of civilization anywhere, just a lovely beach and a dense jungle, under a hot tropical sun. You still appear to have your powers, however there seems to be a force-field around the island that prevents you from flying/swimming/running/teleporting/etc more then 20 ft out/up from the island. This is clearly the forced 'vacation' the Freaks were talking about. . .

MINE:

Civilian Name: Dennis Harrison
*(Technically, Dark Cloud is also Dennis Harrison, but he probably won't be showing up, so don't worry about him.)
Superhero Name: Wraith
Age: 19 (physically 16)
Gender: Male (straight)

Powers/Gadgets:
Wraith got his powers in a freak lab accident, where he was essentially fractured throughout time-space:

1.) Can become intangible - Wraith is able to pass through solid objects, walls, and people. However he cannot pickup/touch/hit anyone or anything while intangible (he can make stuff intangible with him, such as his staff and drop-bag, and even people). In this state, he is still visible but may look misty. He also must consciously decide to do it, therefore he can still be hit by any reasonably quick attack.
- Though he must consciously decide to go fully intangible, sometimes Wraith's fingertips will appear to brush through objects.
- Wraith has found he can use this intangible state for transport as well. Others may see him as a black mist when he moves like this, but he'd really not changed shape at all, just accelerating his particles forward quickly (or in whatever direction he chooses).
- It may be possible that he could effective either possess or hid inside of someone else, but Wraith has the decency not to have tried this. . . yet.

2.) Precognition and Recognition - Wraith is not fully in control of this power, but when he touches objects, he'll often get a flash vision of the past of future of that object. This works for people too, and can be useful in a fight, or for finding them. It can also make him disoriented and dizzy. - He also often has nightmares about past and future events.

3.) Quantum Entangled/Undead (aka Practical Immortality) - Wraith is quantum entangled with the other half of Dennis Harrison (Dark Cloud), rendering them a sort of Schrodinger’s Cat. As long a the two do not have injuries in the same place the injury splits between the pair, healing them faster. Because of this, they would also both have to die at the exact same time to stay dead.
- But this actually has happened, though Wraith doesn't know how Dark Cloud died, he was shot by a supervillainess. Fortunately for him though, Amanuma was able to resurrect him shortly afterward. Or maybe unfortunately, since he now often wakes up screaming from nightmares of being shot, in addition to the nightmares he already had. Of course, Dark Cloud was not simultaneously resurrected, and so the pair are now simultaneously both dead and not dead (aka undead).

4) Wooden Staff - A 5ft long wooden pole, topped with a large wooden skull painted white. The skull throws off the balance, so only someone who's practiced can use it effectively. Wraith has some training in martial arts, which allow him to utilize this weapon properly. It's also useful just for tripping people.

5) Retractable Back-Up Staff - Constructed from titanium, this staff is practically identical to the one Robin uses. Even if the wooden one breaks, this one probably won't. Attached to his drop bag.

6) Drop Bag - Like Batman's utility belt, this double strapped cross between and murse and belt is super useful. Contents include; cell phone, communicator, hand sanitizer, zip ties, mini notebook & pencil, evidence bags, pepper spray, lighter, half a dozen receipts he really should throw away, etc. . .

Appearance:
MloWme1.jpg
9y08Fur.png
Wraith looks just like his name. He is a short and wispy phantasmal creature, about 4’ 2” (which is why some people tack Mini or Little onto his name, much to his annoyance), and dark grey in color. His blood is also nearly black, making it hard to tell if he is bleeding, unless it's so bad there's blood splatter.

His face is kind a square, with a wide jaw, a small upturned nose, and slightly pointed ears. His eyes are a bit large and almond-shaped, glowing a vivid shade of crimson red, with hard to distinguish irises and pupils. They may give off enough light to act as a weak flashlight for someone nearby, but they might also be giving off radiation, so maybe don't use him as a flashlight just in case. Wispy hair, the same color as the rest of him, sweeps back over his scalp, sticking up in odd spikes.

His hands have long boney fingers, the tips of which sometimes appear to pass right through solid objects even when he’s not trying to use his powers. This is because some small part of him exists outside of time and so his corporeal body can ‘remember’ a time when that object is not present.

Wraith's usual clothing consists of a black t-shirt and athletic shorts underneath a cloak pinned closed with a gold moon or star shaped pin. He has a few cloaks, which are blood red, green, and orange. Strapped over one shoulder and around his waist, is his light brown, leather drop bag. He does not wear socks or shoes, ever. He hates them, and is no longer around his mom, who used to force him to wear them.

Wraith has no civilian outfit, for obvious reasons.

Personality:
When Dennis Harrison had his accident, he was divided into two quantum entangled entities; Wraith and Dark Cloud. Wraith got most of Dennis' good, moral, and responsible traits. He has a strong notion of right and wrong, and always tries to do with what's right. He emphatic, tending to care and worry about people, even ones he's never met before. . . unless they are harming others. In which case he feels a strong desire to see justice.

Mentally, Wraith is 18, even f his body hasn't changed. Over the past three years, he has gained in confidence and self-esteem, though he can still be kind of shy and pretty jumpy. He doesn't like when people stare at him in public, but he has gotten used to it. Though he may still lash out if people actively make fun of him, since he tends to bottle his feelings about that up. He's also become braver recently, but being effectively immortal can do that for you.

He is still a somewhat troubled individual however, as he has suffered permanent psychological damage due to his scientific accident, the constant nightmares, and his own death. He has trouble sleeping, and will often be tired. He also holds a special brand guilt, because he feels like being a precog, he should be able to spot more danger then he actually does.

History:
Dennis Harrison was an average guy. For 15 years he lived in a relatively normal family; mother, father, little sister, and a big mix breed dog. His mom made a little money from selling real estate, but his father was really the bread winner, a highly paid scientist who ran experiments with a particle accelerator, among other things. Then one day, shortly after he turned 16, while he was visiting his father's lab, there was a freak accident with an experiment that was supposed to measure for time differences on a micro level. In the resulting explosion, Dennis was exposed to high dosages of rare radiation. Instead of dying quickly or developing cancer like the rest of the people present, Dennis’ mind was thrown out of time, resulting in a personality split, with physical repercussions, as well as an altered appearance and physiology for both halves of him. They had developed strange time-related powers, as well as eyes that glow as if still radioactive.

With his father deathly ill, and afraid of how his mother and sister saw him, Wraith ran off (Dark Cloud ran off too, but presumably for other reasons). He spent a bit of aimless time avoiding people’s glares and hiding in abandon buildings. But when that inevitably got old, he took to nighttime crime fighting, with some martial art and detective training from a local rodent-themed vigilante duo. The pair were a college English professor and a lab assistant during the day, so they also took it upon themselves to see that Wraith still got an education, tutoring him when possible. In many ways they became surrogate dads to him.

Eventually he would 'strike out on his own', and encounter the Teen Titans, becoming an honorary member. His confronting a supervillainess and being shot, actually occurred during a Teen Titans mission. He had been tracking her after a string of robberies and confronted her during a traffic jam, assuming she had nowhere to run. And having nowhere to run, she fought back instead, pulling a gun on him. Unfortunately, Dark Cloud was killed at that same moment, rendering them both permanently dead. Or it would have, luckily or unluckily, Amanuma was also assisting the Teen Titans at the time, and was able to resurrect him.

After being resurrected, Wraith took a little time off from crime fighting, keeping a low profile and staying with some friends for a couple of months, while he processed everything that had happened. Until being contacted by Robin to assist the Chromium City Titans after Amanuma disappeared, along with Control Freak's body. Wraith therefore, has been with the team for about 3 weeks now, offering some much needed moral support and team direction.

Monster Guy

Fairy type Trainer
Super Name: Violet Lantern
Civilian Name: Maxwell "Max" Hudson
Age: 20
Gender: Gay Male

Powers:

The Power Ring has a long list of abilities. For obvious reasons, I am not using all of them... The full list can be found here and here

Violet Energy Blasts: The ring can be used to fire blasts of violet energy that are powered by the love of the user.

Violet Energy Constructs: The ring can form constructs of violet energy. The constructs are made out of violet energy, which is a tangible form of pure love, and they exist only as long as the Star Sapphire is fueling it with their mastery of love. Items created by the rings are not indestructible and are only as powerful as the inspired love of the one creating them.

Violet Force Fields: The ring can create force fields of various sizes and shapes to protect the wearer and others around him.

Invisibility: By willing the ring to bend light waves around himself, as well as that of the power ring, Max can make himself and/or the ring invisible.

Crystallization: He can trap others in crystal prisons for a limited amount of time. Others on the outside can easily break the crystal.

Flight: The ring allows the user to fly at incredible speeds.

Cellular Regeneration: Max can use the ring to repair injuries in himself or others.

Material Alteration: The ability to change into his uniform, and back. As well as change how his uniform looks. It will always have a predominantly purple color scheme.

True Love Sight: Max can show images to others of their hearts desire, or the love they are missing.

Love Attunement: He can sense love in others, and knows when love is in jeopardy. This attunement allows him to tell when others are in need of love and the state of love in their hearts, providing great insight into the personal lives of others.

Rage Immunity: As rage is the opposite of love, the violet light is unaffected by it. In fact it can shut down a Red Power Ring, if the wielder of it is made to feel love.

Now that Max and Lucas have gone steady, Max can now sense when Lucas is in danger, and come to his aid (Not teleporting like it's portrayed in the comics. He can just fly really fast to wherever Lucas happens to be) as well as summon his lover to his side when needed.

Skills:

Hand to hand to combat: In addition to learning to master his ring, he also learned how to fight without it from other Star Sapphires. His fighting style mostly involves a lot of jumping around and doing backflips to avoid getting hit.

Artistic Talent: Max can draw and paint. He can also make sculptures and sew clothing. It will most likely be irrelevant to this RP, but it is a skill that's there.

Gadgets:

Star Sapphire Power Ring

Star Sapphire personal power battery: It is stored in a pocket dimension in his ring, and can be called upon to charge the ring.

Money: He's not heir to anything, but his mom left him financially taken care of after she died.

Appearance: Max is a tall and lean young man standing at 6'3". He is physically fit, and has a, toned, well muscled, physique that he enjoys showing off. While he hated being forced to be on the football team, he admits it's done wonders for his body, and he enjoys showing it off. He still works out regularly to maintain it, just at his own pace, and not as intense, He has a fair complexion, and his face is free of blemishes and facial hair. His strawberry blonde hair looks messy, but he likes it that way, claiming that it adds character to his look. It appears to be longer on the top than it is on the sides, and it seems to go in many different directions. He doesn't wear any hair gel, since he doesn't like the feel of stiff hair. He has a round, boyish face with wide expressive eyes that are a deep shade of blue. He often has a smile on his face.

Max's choice in clothes changes with his mood. Some days, he dresses casually and wears a simple tank top and jeans. On other days, he wears fancier clothing. He does know how to sew and make clothes to suit his own tastes. He likes bright colors, but usually wears various shades of purple. His signature outfit consists of a light purple tight fitting tank top, and a dark purple cotton hoodie over it if it's cold enough. On the bottom, he wears a pair of blue jeans held up by a black belt with a metal buckle, and purple and white high top sneakers on his feet. He carries around a purple messenger bag to carry his things in.

When in Lantern mode, he wears an outfit that's just as revealing as the female members. It's supposed to be violet, but it can sometimes look pink under certain lights. It consists of a sleeveless, skintight, crop top that shows off his abs. It has the Star Sapphire insignia proudly displayed on his chest. On the bottom, he wears tight violet pants that are held up by a belt with a silver buckle. He has knee high purple boots on his feet, and purple gloves on his hands that go up to his elbows. He gets a purple visor over his eyes, that does little to conceal his identity. It is really there because it looks cool. He also gets a violet tiara on top of his head. Her wears his Star Sapphire ring on his right ring finger. Max has the ability to alter the appearance of his uniform whenever he needs or wants to.

Personality: Max is a cheerful, optimistic guy who doesn't like to be bogged down with unpleasant thoughts. He enjoys laughing and making jokes with others, even in inappropriate situations. He is easygoing and friendly, which makes it easy for him to befriend people. He is really good at understanding other people's emotions, and is an emotional guy himself. He is not embarrassed to show his feelings. He cries when he is sad, and is openly affectionate towards those he cares for. Even with people he is just friends with, he still expresses affection through handshakes, hugs, and other forms of touch. Max considers himself a hopeful romantic. He has an idealistic view of love, and is passionate about these views. It was one of the reasons why he was chosen by the Violet Power ring in the first place. Max has a lustful side to him as well. He is openly gay, and doesn't bother hiding it, since he's spent too much time having to repress his sexuality already. He is often fawning over attractive men. He often makes teasing and flirty comments to other guys he finds attractive, as well as even outright touching them, even if he knows they're not gay. He just sees it as being friendly, and doesn't see any harm in it. If he is in a committed relationship, he won't do this as much if he knows it upsets the other person. (At least, not in front of his boyfriend anyway.) He truly believes in love, is driven more by his emotions than logic, and tends to act impulsively as a result. It is something he has always done, and even moreso since he became a Star Sapphire. He does not think about how his actions affect others until it is too late, and winds up feeling bad about it afterwards if something goes wrong. Someone not responding to his friendliness the way he expects makes him try harder to make that person his friend. He doesn't mind occasional teasing from friends, so long as they're laughing with him, not at him. When someone does become his friend. he gets attached to that person very easily, and can be clingy and overly dependent. He will always be in your business, will constantly call/text you, and do things for you whether you want it or not. He also doesn't take rejection very well, he'll usually deny the rejection, or come up with excuses to avoid feeling heartbroken.

Max is very sensitive, and is willing to be a shoulder to cry on, and give you some words of encouragement when you are down. For him, hurt feelings hurt worse than a hurt body. It is very easy to get him to like you, and once he is your friend he will remain your friend for life. If there's one thing Max can't stand, it's being forced to do something he doesn't like. He can usually respect authority, but it becomes a problem when he feels that the authority is unfair. Trying to control him is the fastest way to get him upset. When he gets upset, he will lash out. Max also reacts with anger when being reminded of his abusive father. Max is the type of guy that lives in the moment, and isn't one for planning for the future, preferring to deal with things as they happen. He doesn't really like schedules or routines, finding them boring and restrictive.

Max has always been right brain dominant. It's partly the reason why he always struggled in school as a kid, and gravitates towards arts. It doesn't mean he's dumb, just that his way of thinking is different from a left brained person. Max is a creative individual. His favorite pastime is drawing and painting, and he often be found dooding in a sketch book when he has free time. He also knows how to sew and make clothes, as well as sculpt with clay. In addition to his creative pursuits, he enjoys Video Games, Disney, and other things that most would consider geeky. He also has an affinity for cute things. Max doesn't care for sports all that much, after being forced to participate in them for so long. He's willing to play a few basketball games with friends sometimes, but he isn't all the serious about it. After spending years being scared of his father, and finally getting out of that situation, he has had enough of being concerned what other people thought about him. He is going to be himself, and if you don't like it, that's your problem not his. After everything that has happened to him, Max is able to empathize with others in a similar situations. He sees himself in them, and really wants to help them. This can drive some people nuts because of how overbearing he can be. He does genuinely care about people, it's just that he can go overboard sometimes.

Max does not drink any kind of alcohol, at all. It has only caused him nothing but trouble in his life. He is also uneasy in situations where other people are drinking...

History: Max Hudson was born and raised in Chromium City, where he has spent most of his life. His father, Joseph "Joe" Hudson, is part of wealthy prominent family, as well as a retired athlete, while his mother, Kimberly, while not born into a wealthy family, made her own money the old fashioned way, by working hard. While Max grew up in wealth and luxury, he didn't have the best relationship with his father. Max's father was a strict man, and had high expectations for his son. He had a low tolerance for failure, and Max was disciplined harshly when the expectations were not met. His father had always wanted his boy to follow in his footsteps. He wanted his son to be an athlete like him, and act like the upper-class elite that he is. From the moment Max could walk and talk, he pushed that dream onto him. He was sent to elite private schools to study, and was encouraged (or rather forced) to join the football team. His mother didn't agree on what her husband was doing, saying Max should be able to make his own choices, but the man wouldn't have any of it. Claiming that football builds character, and would make him strong. Max hated football, but stayed with it in order to please his strict father. Over the years, he started to develop and get stronger. That still didn't change the fact that he hated what he was being forced to do something he didn't want to do for stupid reasons. He also didn't agree with his father's ideas about how a man should act. Still, he kept his mouth shut, but resentment slowly started to build.

Growing up, Max always had an interest in art. He was often doodling in his school notes when he should have been paying attention in class. While he excelled in art classes, he wasn't good in Math, and was average everywhere else. His mother encouraged his artistic talents, but his father chastised them. Claiming that art was for sissies, and that it would never do him any good. Naturally, Max was always closer to his mother than he was with his father. She was the one who told him bedtime stories as a kid, which is how his view of romantic love developed. She was also the one who encouraged his artistic goals where his father never did. His parents often disagreed on a lot of other things besides how to raise their child. It was not uncommon for the two to have very heated arguments on a regular basis.

One day, Joe came down on Max very hard for doodling on his school papers. He told him he would never make it as an artist, and that he was a disgrace to the family name. His anger got so bad, he slapped his son hard across his face. His wife returned home from work just in time to witness this. After seeing this, Kimberly decided that was the last straw for her. After a very loud argument, Max's mother filed for divorce. She got custody of her son, and they moved out of the home they shared with Joe. Max quit the football team, and spent time improving his art skills.

For some time, Max was happy. He lived a comfortable life at home with his mother. He was popular in school, and made a lot of friends due to his outgoing. He still practiced his painting, and his grades improved. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to last. When he was fourteen, his mother was involved in a serious car crash that left her severely wounded. She ultimately died from blood loss on the way to the hospital. He was forced to live with his father. Max barely had time to grieve for his mother's death. His father imposed his ideas just like before. He took away all his art supplies, and Max was disciplined much worse than before. Joe had started drinking after the divorce, and as Max found out, he was a violent, angry drunk, who would go berserk, and often yell, scream, and beat him over the slightest things. It is because of his father, that Max refuses to drink any type of alcohol.

Regardless of what was happening at home, Max still kept up a cheerful facade in front of others. He didn't dare tell anyone of his father's abuse for various ranging from thinking he won't be believed, making the situation worse. His father was very good at acting like a supportive parent in public, fueling Max's fears. Due to his resentment of his father, he tried to look for the affection he didn't get at home from others. He wanted people to like him, and tried very hard to please everyone. He constantly worried about what other people thought, and kept things secret from people that he felt would make them think negatively of him. (Such as the fact he likes cartoons like My Little Pony, or that he didn't have care to listen to the guys talking about girls. He didn't find himself interested in them.) Despite feeling miserable inside, he kept smiling through the pain. Every night he cried in his pillow, and swore he would get out of this one day.

He found any excuse he could think of to not have to come home and deal with his father, studying with friends, trying to find a job, whatever was plausible. He also did some rebellious things behind his father's back, like sneaking out after school to go to parties, and other popular hangouts. Not coming home until very late into the night. It was at one of these parties that he met a very special guy named Robert (better known as Robbie) that was close to his age. Max first laid eyes on him when he was playing his guitar, and singing for a crowd of people. Max noticed three things about him. The first thing, he had a beautiful singing voice, two he was very handsome even though he was embarrassed to be having that kind of thought at the time, and the third was that his guitar was covered in Hello Kitty stickers. After he was done performing, Max felt the urge to talk to him. The two of them started to hit it off very quickly. After Max found out they went to the same school, the two started spending a lot of time together. They had a lot of things in common, including the fact that they were both artists, although, Robbie was a musician and a poet rather than a traditional artist. It soon became clear that there relationship was more than just platonic. Max couldn't stop himself from thinking about how hot his friend was, and had feelings about him that he never felt about anyone before, let alone another guy. He found out the feeling was mutual, and started growing closer until they eventually had their first kiss.

After that, the two stared going steady. Max was excited about the status of his relationship, but also scared. He knew his father would never approve of him dating another guy. He definitely couldn't invite him over to his house. He kept his relationship a secret so his father wouldn't find out. It was exciting at first, but all the sneaking around had a negative effect on the relationship. Robbie was openly gay, but Max was still in the closet. He wanted to be able to be public with his boyfriend. Max was worried about the reaction people would have if people found out he was dating guys, particularly his dad. He occasionally would pretend to go out with girls so people wouldn't get suspicious, which upset Robbie more. Robbie gave Max an ultimatum to come out, or their relationship was over. Max couldn't do it, and Robbie left. Max was devastated.

Throughout all this, he was able to bring his grades up during his last year of high school, and managed to graduate. Now that he was an adult, Max could go to art college and pursue his passions. Max revealed these plans to his father, and of course, it did not go well. A loud argument ensued that night, which ended up with Max coming out as gay. Max's father was drunk at the time, and proceeded to punch him in the face a number of times, threaten to kill him, and use several gay slurs before passing out. After that, Max had enough, and ran away from home. He went to the only place he could think of to go, his ex-boyfriend's house. His dad had never met Robbie before, he would never know to go looking for him there. After knocking on the door, and explaining to Robbie's parents, and Robbie himself, what had happened, the family took the boy in for a while. Robbie felt bad for leaving Max after discovering the reason why he was in the closet. It didn't take very long for the two boys to rekindle their relationship. Max hadn't seen or heard from his dad since.

After he and Robbie publicly came out as a couple, he found out nearly everybody in school pretty much suspected Max wasn't straight. All of his friends were ok with it. After everything that had happened, Max stopped trying to hide parts of himself to please people. It just wasn't worth the effort. Now, he was going to live life the way he wanted, and no one was going to stop him. Max and Robbie had planned to go to attend the same college, and be roommates.

However, before they could go through with those plans, something bad happened. Robbie was involved in a fatal car accident with a drunk driver. Making the situation worse, was the fact that the drunk driver turned out to be his father, who survived the accident. It was as if that man couldn't resist making one more attempt at making his life miserable. Of course, his dad was arrested and put in prison for DUI as well as vehicular manslaughter, much to Max's relief. He also discovered that he had inherited a large sum of money from his deceased mother that his father had been keeping a secret for some time. Still, he had lost his boyfriend, in the exact same way he had lost his mother. He put off starting school, and spent a lot of nights crying alone. It left him with a whole in his heart he was unable to fill.

On one particular day, he was a approached by a... talking ring? It was a lot like the one Green Lantern uses, except this one was glowing with Violet energy. The ring told him that he was capable of great love, and that it would be able to grant him great power to bring love into the world, and fight against hate and fear. Max immediately accepted, and once the ring was on his finger, he was encased in a Violet Crystal in suspended animation, and sent off to the planet Zamaron. When he emerged from the crystal some time later, he was now donning a Star Sapphire uniform. He felt confident, powerful, and a lot better than he did before he got the ring. He now had a renewed sense of purpose.

Once the transformation was complete, the ring told him to do what he had always done, to follow his heart. He remained on Zamaron to train for a while, which was a bit strange considering he was the only male present on the entire planet. Nevertheless, after spending a few months there, he returned to Earth, where he spent his time fighting crime, and dealing with matters of love. Somewhere along the way, he received an invitation to join a new team of Teen Titans in Chromium City. Max happily took the offer. Thinking he could do more good as part of a team then he could alone. He also thought it was a good opportunity to meet cute boys in tight spandex suits.

Luckily for him, he met not one but two cute boys. One of them was a handsome shadow witch named Lucas, while the other was an equally handsome male amazon named Archie. He tried flirting with both of them during his time as a Titan, but Lucas was the one that reciprocated. The two boys hit it off immediately, and they discovered they had a few things in common. The two boys kissed several times in just the one day they knew each other, and the media seemed to like this pairing. During one of Control Freak's challenges, Max even sacrificed his most precious item, a unicorn plush hw named Rapunzel Robert won for him on their first date in order to save Lucas' precious item, his guitar.

There was tension between Archie and Max for reasons Max didn't get. They argued a couple of times, and Max kind of thought he was a jerk (a hot jerk, but still a jerk.) Then he just had to go and kill Control Freak... After the fit of rage he attracted a Red Lantern ring. Archie then flew off, and Max hasn't seen him since. Max hopes to use his Star Sapphire powers to replace all the anger in Archie's heart with love, and convert his red ring to violet. The Star Sapphires need more guys after all.

In the weeks that followed Control Freak's death, the remaining Titans were left to pick up the pieces. Crime went up, and no one had any clue what happened to the mayor, although everyone assumes he's dead. It wasn't completely bad though. New Titans joined their group, and Lucas and Max have gone on a few dates. Now Max and Lucas have gone steady, and Max is very happy to have a boyfriend again.

1 month after that, Amanuma disappeared, along with Control Freak's body apparently. The team got restructured again, and now it seems like him and Lucas are the only original members left. Theres also a new mayor, to replace the one that disappeared after the first Control Freak incident. Still, Lucas and him are very much still together and happy, and after yet another month, things are finally getting back to normal. Who knows how long that will last?

Internet Overlord
Monster Guy (Violet Lantern, Max): Op of course, but some of those powers could technically be the same power, and you handled playing in the pervious versions with these powers, so, Accepted. Besides if I'm feeling mean, I can always shut off his access to the battery.
- I'd prefer everyone use the same SU form I posted, but whatever.
- Ama's only been gone 1 month. And that happened 1 month after 'Red War', so that's the 2 months.

Metallic Wonder
Posting my WIP here.

Civilian Name:
Theodore (nicknamed Theo) Fletcher
Superhero Name: Carat
Age: 18 (Birthday 12th of April)
Gender: Male
Powers/Gadgets: Diamond Mimickery: Theo is capable of transforming his body into a flexible organic Diamond form. He cannot transform certain parts of himself individually, but can stay in this form for an undetermined amount of time. While in this form, Theo has enhanced strength reaching superhuman limits, as well as superhuman stamina and durability, making him very resistant to most forms of physical injury. He is also immune to any kind of mind-controlling factors while in this state. He would revert to normal form if knocked unconcious, however.

- Martial artist: Theo is well-trained in hand-to-hand combat and is agile and aggressive in a fight. Paired with his Diamond shifting, his strength is increased drastically, making him a formiddable opponent in a fight.

YHvAbOB.png

Appearance: Theo is Slightly above average height, standing at 186cm tall. He has a slender yet physically toned physique, and he takes great care of it through regular intense workouts and healthy diets. His skin is fair and tanned, mixing in nicely with his orange hair. He keeps his hair styled at pretty much every waking hour, and keeps it short on the sides, with slightly longer and spiked on top. His eyes contrast nicely to his otherwise warm complexion, being pale grey-ish blue in color and giving him a relaxed look when paird with his near constant flirty grin. He has a face for the camera, with a chisled jawline and high cheekbones. He takes great care of his appearance, and is definitely the kind of person one would stop and give a secon look at. He wallows in his beauty, and carries himself with dignity and a minor hint of arrogance.

For clothing, Theo mostly goes for the comfortable and practical types of clothing. Though he enjoys darker clothing, he doesn't feel the need to express himself as such, which is what fuels most of his choices of outfit. His go-to casual outfit is his favorite pair of light blue jeans, with torn holes in just the right places, making one wonder if they are actually result of years of favoritism or if there is a more sinister story behind it. He wears a loose-sitting low-cut tank top which leaves little to the imaginatio about his muscular physique, but often covers up with a light lavender hoodie that's juust a size too big for him, making him kinda drown in it.

As Carat, his style of clothing changes drastically. As his power makes him near indestructible, he goes that extra mile to be.. well extra. he wears a pretty standard black uniform bottom with a pair of matching practical boots, making combat a lot more practical for him. He goes completely shirtless, and wears only an open black short-cut jacket. Though it makes him look somewhat edgy in normal form, it makes him even more beautiful in diamond form, and his fans loves it, and he loves that his fans loves it, and therefore he just decided to keep his superhero attire that way.

Personality: Theo is a somewhat flamboyant individual who carries himself with a certain pizaz. He has a certain quality about him that makes people go "Wow that guy's got it", whatever it may be. He is an easygoing character that takes life in his own tempo to a certain degree, not bothering to worry over the minor things, or the larger things. He has a tendency of underthinking scenarios. Bank robbery? Pffh. plane hijacking? No problem! His positive attitude and easygoing nature can make him seem like an airheaded dullard at times too, which is like partially true at the most. Not the brightest bulb in the hardwarestore with very overprized lightbulbs, Theo is often the butt of the joke due to his inability to understand sarcasm, or how he mistakes it for compliments most of the time. H takes it all in good fun though, and ven though people laugh at him and not with him, he joins in regardless.

Despite his airheaded nature, Theo is actually a pretty intelligent guy. Laying somewhere between meh and surprisingly good on his grades from high school, he knows more than he let on, and can surprise people with his knowledge at times, prooving against their initial impression of him being a ditzy blonde (or redhead if you're gonna be difficult about it). He carries himself with confidence and determination, and doesn't let negativity get to him. Instead of having a "Gurl that's your issue not mine" attitude to people's dislikes towards him, he frankly don't care.

Even tough he is capable of rising above critics and carry himself in the confident manner one would expect from him, Beneath it all, Theo is plagued with insecurities and a cacophony of demonic voices ringing in his head saying "YoU'Re NoT gOoD eNoUgH!". He deals with it the best way he knows how: By completely undermining his issues and burying them mentally until he has a breakdown, which happens periodically. These insecurities stem from the pressure of being a superhero and an online personality, as well as the regular teenage angst regarding what he's going to do for a living once this superhero business is done with. He keeps his insecurities to himself though, as he doesn't want to bother other people with his own issues. He's considerate that way. If anyone is in trouble, he would put aside his own issues and help out regardless of situation. He's easily approachable and gets along with pretty much anyone. He knows himself, and he doesn't wear his feelings on his sleeves, which makes him very difficult to read.

Being the active person that he is, Theo spends a lot of time and effort on working out and eating healthy. On his days off you'll likely find him at the gym or jogging around in a park somewhere, if he's not at a local starbucks trying out the newest beverages. To him, it's something of a stress-relief to work out, and he often put his undermined angst and issues to work as a driving force in his combat-training. He can also be surprisingly wise, aiding others in need with advice or a stern kick in the bum depending on what he deems they need.

Socially, Carat tends to take center stage. He loves attention, and loves having a certain amount of crowd control, as even though he enjoys it, too much attention can wear him out. He's a social butterfly, and though he's not the flirtiest of guys, he has a certain preferance when it comes to romance. Enjoying the company of others, he is definitely well-suited for working in a group, though he dislikes taking up the mantle as leader. Theo is generally a person who enjoys being himself. He cares very little for what other people might think of how he acts or how he does things, and though he has his insecurities, he always rise above them and look forward.

History:+8 sentences

Other:
- Theo's an Instagram celebrity, posting photos and videos under his Super hero alter ego, Carat. He keeps his civillian identity a secret, however.
- He's notorious for his selfies.
- Has a slight brittish accent.
- He is very fond of alcohol, though he's not old enough to buy the good stuff yet.

I'm gonna wip here, don't mind me.

Civilian Name: Ariane "Aria" Castile

Superhero Name:
Matagot

Age: Nineteen (Born on August 1st)

Gender: Pansexual Female

Powers/Gadgets:
  • Shapeshifting: Aria is able to shapeshift into any animal she has seen with her own eyes, illustration or otherwise. The only limitation is that there still has to be examples of the species left on Earth (IE: She can't become a dinosaur). She is unable to transform into other humans, and she is unable to speak while transformed... although she can still perfectly understand what is being said to her. There are many possibilities for this power, and she can change at will to suit her situation. However, if she sustains too much damage she will be forced to turn back into a human.
  • Animal Resistance: Although most of her powers exist within her shapeshifted forms (such as a Gorilla giving her strength, or a Cheetah giving her speed). She is similar to an animal in the sense that she finds it very easy to adapt to other environments that many other humans may have difficulty with. She can live in extreme deserts, and she can live in extreme tundras.
  • Halfling: Aria is able to partially take on the forms of animals as well, simply giving herself deer antlers before bashing heads with something or giving herself tiger claws to aid in hand to hand combat. She often uses this ability if there's not enough time for her to fully shift into an animal, as it is faster and gives her a slight edge.
  • Animal Sense: Even when unshifted, Aria has abnormally strong senses. Her eyesight is keen, her hearing is excellent, and she can even see in dark rooms. Her sense of smell is also something that one certainly can't take for granted, make sure to never leave anything hidden in your room that even has the slightest smell... she'll certainly find it.
Appearance:
WUrwFcq.png
K9nqnRK.png

Aria is adorable. Despite her adult status she is more often than not mistaken for someone in their teens, which is certainly not aided by her short stature of 5'3" and her skinny frame. Her fashion sense probably doesn't help much either, as it could be accurately described as cutesy and childish. Her face is rounded, feminine and youthful. Her features are noticeably soft, giving more to her childish appearance. Her skin is white, but noticeably darker thanks to her heritage of French and Greek. Her eyes are large, full of excitement and amber in colour. Her bright eyes are very reflective of her mood, often telling people exactly when she has some sort of scheme planned. Her cheeks are dotted with all sorts of freckles, the only noticeable blemishes on her otherwise perfect skin. Her lips are soft, feminine and puffy --- however her mouth is often open in a toothy open mouthed smile, revealing her sharper than normal canine teeth. Her hair is a soft rose gold colour, curly and short. Often styled to look nice with whatever she's wearing in nice loose curls.

Her fashion sense, as previously mentioned, is somewhat childish. Despite having limitless shapeshifting ability, her favourite animals are those of the feline variety and she reflects this in her choice of clothing. Her style is quite casual, usually being seen in a pinkish orange sweatshirt with a black collar and a minimalistic cat face upon it's surface (whiskers and nose). The sleeves of the sweatshirt are black in order to match the collar. She wears high waisted black shorts along with this sweatshirt, tucking the shirt into the pants just below her breasts. She wears thigh-high white stockings that stop just short of her shorts to complete her outfit, as well as plain black dress shoes.

She doesn't exactly have what would be considered a superhero... suit. However, all her animal forms with fur or feathers maintain a rose gold colour, similar to her hair. Their eyes are also always identical to hers.

Personality: Ariane is somewhat of a two way street. Part of her is a very excitable party animal, while the other half is a boisterous, full of herself.

+ Positives
As it is usually better to look on the positive side of things first, Ariane's positive attributes include: her willingness to do almost anything on a dare, her excitable nature about topics she loves, and her absolute party crazy attitude. Ariane is a daredevil, she has been known to eat absolutely anything as long as money is offered. Some notable things she has done on dares have been: drinking a bottle of barbecue sauce, eating twelve lava cakes in one sitting (and immediately getting sick afterwards), eating a handful of worms she picked up off the ground, and many more that are too gross to list. No matter the thing, as long as money is on the line she will consume anything.

Ariane is extremely excitable, she is quick to get excited and usually stays excited until something else catches her interest. Her favourite subjects are animals, and she will often transform into animals to show off and express her excitement in different ways. She also loves food, cooking, and music. Her favourite kind of music is EDM, as she finds it the easiest to get up and moving with. Reflecting her style and helping her stay pumped up when she's in the mood. She can ramble on and on about subjects she has a high interest in, often boring others with her excited rambles on things they know little to nothing about. She's very high energy almost all the time, seen moving quickly, talking quickly, and thinking quickly. Her quick thinking is actually very helpful in a team setting... but it's often difficult to discern what she wants to do when she gets excited and spits out something along the lines of 'beatbad' which, in her mind, was actually "let's defeat the bad guys!"

Ariane is the absolute life of the party. She lives every day like her last and enjoys having fun in any way she can. She very much lives by the principal of "YOLO" and will do anything in her power to have a good time while she's on this planet and often drags other people into her fun. She loves late night runs (although good luck keeping up with her when she's in her cheetah form), walks in the rain, and nude swimming at the beach. Anything to live it up.

- Negatives

For her positives, Ariane has a few negatives that compete with the good in herself. She's a little too full of herself and boisterous for the liking of some people, and she's a little too headstrong, often throwing herself into danger without really thinking of the consequences first. She's a little too lighthearted, especially when it comes to serious situations --- she will often use humour and jokes to cope with things that are deemed hard for her.

Ariane is very competitive. She has an extreme need to boast her perceived accomplishments for all those to hear. She feels the need to have others be jealous of her, but in reality it is due to her feeling the need to feel important... especially because her parents only ever looked at her like she was some kind of lab animal. She wants human companionship, but she often ends up pushing others away by showing her competitive side first... rather than the good side of herself.

Ariane is a "jump first, think second" kind of person, and this more often than not gets her in hot water. She could very easily find herself in a life or death situation because of her need to charge in before thinking of a strategy or tell her team-mates exactly what she's thinking. She'll often say something incomprehensible before charging in as one of her animal forms.

History:
it's 3am and i'm tired so i'm just gonna make some notes so I can like... do this tomorrow
- born to two scientist parents that were attempting to splice human and animal DNA to make superhumans or sumthin
- due to their unethical treatment of their specimens, they had their stuff revoked
- but they still had their daughter (dramatic music)
- they spliced their daughter right up with all kinds of DNA, and did all sorts of cruel and hurtful experiments on her
- she had the ability to transform into any species she had observed before after all was said and done... and her parents tested her by showing her pictures.
- her parents weren't pleased that she was unable to speak in her animal forms, causing them to lock her in a cage until and prod her with electric rods
- trapped in the cage and being actually tortured by her parents she transformed into a gorilla and literally smashed her parents to pieces
- she escaped and roamed the streets... eventually finding salvation somewhere
- cue plot stuff for this rpg blah blah blah

Sketchie

literally some guy
what up what up here with my sign UP (that's been c/p'ed and reformatted #living the life)

Civilian Name: Lucas Spenser Moncrief
Superhero Name: Nightmare
Age: 20 (Born on December 20th, which happens to be today in RP time.)
Gender: Bisexual cisgender male
Playlists: Work Up // Cool Down // Whole -- meant to be shuffled.

Powers/Gadgets:
- Umbrakinesis: Shadow manipulation, to put it simply.
--- Indirect Manipulation: He can create physical manifestations of darkness to aid him in fighting, similar to Raven's or Green Lantern's powers. These constructs are cold to the touch, and may or may not be translucent. It depends. He can create two semi-sentient beings, two snake-like creatures, with wings and canine heads. Their names are Peaseblossom and Cobweb, and must be told what to do or else they struggle keeping form.
--- Direct Manipulation: This is very difficult and strenuous on Lucas. He manipulates an object's shadow, manipulating the object in turn. Nothing can be created or destroyed, the mass must stay constant, but it can be used to crush things, or manipulate human beings. It is extremely difficult, and he doesn't use it often (there's more cons than pros on this one).
--- The Shadow Plane: Lucas can "vanish" into existing shadows and move around in a place called the Shadow Plane. It is a two-dimensional plane that is projected onto whatever surface he slipped into. He can move from plane to plane. He can also move objects in the plane by moving their shadows, and he can project constructs (such as tentacles) out of the ground. He can only enter and exit the Shadow Plane through existing shadows. If it's bright enough to the point of no shadows, he's trapped. The constructs are tied to him, and if they are broken it hurts him. Besides this, however, there is no feeling anything in the Shadow Plane. Lucas must keep focus, because if he stays in for too long or loses his focus, he may not be able to return in one piece, if at all.
--- Other: Though he wasn't able to at first, he has learned how to fly/levitate using his umbrakinesis. He is currently working on being able to shove things in and out of the Shadow Plane, but this is strenuous and makes him quite vulnerable.

- Sleep Related Powers:
--- Putting Others to Sleep: By touching a person's temples with his first two fingers on either side, Lucas can put them to sleep. They will stay asleep until one of three things happens: 1) the person completes a full sleep cycle, 2) the person is awoken by Lucas, or 3) something loud enough/a movement sharp enough startles them awake. Route 3 is more difficult than the other two.
--- Dream Manipulation: Lucas has the ability to tap into others' dreams. The person he'll be manipulating must be asleep. (If they're not asleep, he can't do anything.) From there, Lucas enters into a transitory state where he must locate that person, and tap into their dreams. Closer targets are easy, farther targets are harder, targets he doesn't know where they are are nearly impossible, but doable. Once he makes contact, he also falls asleep. He then becomes the overlord of their dream state, able to manipulate the setting and situation at well, as well as shift his own form. Lucas has to be careful, as he can wake the person up if he doesn't keep a good enough hold on the dream, and if someone wakes up while Lucas is still in their dreamscape, it tears Lucas out of the dream. This is a very painful experience. It gives him a terrible headache, as though there's a rod being pounded through his temples. He's very sensitive to light during these migraines, and can't open his eyes. His body aches, though not nearly as much, and he feels exhausted. There is another caveat, and that is nightmares. If the target begins to dream on their own, Lucas will lose some degree of control. If it's a normal, odd dream, Lucas can easily regain control, and often keeps the elements submitted by the target's brain in his created dream. However, if the target begins to nightmare, Lucas loses all control of the dream, and is in the dream until the target wakes up, tearing Lucas out. Also, Lucas has to be on his medication. If he's not, his own nightmares tend to flare up, and bleed into the dreamscape.

- Superhuman Durability: Self explanatory.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Lucas is especially proficient with his fists if shadows fail. (And let's be honest, Luc just likes punching things.)
- Manipulation in general: What can I say, the kid's good at lying. Like, really good at lying.
- 1965 Volkswagen Beetle: He's black with sick spikes running up the hood. His name is Emmerich. While he should not be used for combat, he exists.
- Money: Lucas is the heir to two very powerful families/companies. You do the math. He's one of them bourgeois butt-heads. He is well versed in handling finances as well.
- Bilingual: German is Lucas's first language, he learned English around age 4. He often switches back to German if he is very angry, very tired, very flustered, etc.

Appearance: Lucas is gorgeous. A total babe. He stands tall at 6' 3", has some build to him. While his coloration suggests otherwise, his features are very German. His head is somewhat long, with a well defined chin and angular features. He has a strong jawline, and sharp cheekbones. He has short, pitch black hair that lately he's been keeping down, his bangs brushing his eyebrows, and thin, well trimmed sideburns that end just below his ear. His eyes are expressive and emerald green, decorated with long, dark eyelashes. He has thin lips that are usually drawn up in a smile and an angular nose. His teeth are unnervingly straight and white, and very pointed in some places. His ears are pierced, and he usually has black studs in. His body is fairly proportional, with toned arms and legs. His hands are averaged sized, and his feet are a little larger than average. His core muscles are very well defined (or, to put it bluntly, he has abs), and he's been told he has very nice biceps. His collarbones and hipbones are very well defined. He has several self-made scars. On his left wrist he has the X scar, as well as two other horizontal scars just above them. He also has a couple on his left shoulder and bicep. The rest of them are on his upper thighs, and they're pretty long. He also has two longer scars, one on his left pectoral and the other on his right hip, though they are very faded.

When he's not all dressed up, Lucas is honestly pretty casual in dress. He's typically wearing some tank top or another, usually in shades of either green or gray. He has a collection of various skinny jeans and shorts, and switches back between the two often. He likes wearing converse, or no shoes at all. Lucas isn't necessarily lazy, he just has a very specific aesthetic, and that aesthetic happens to be very simple and neutral. He does, however, put effort into his appearance when he needs to dress fancily, and has a collection of assorted Interesting Ties (also known as his Dad Ties. He really likes ties, okay.).

I would love to say that Nightmare has a very fancy costume... but Lucas honestly just doesn't care for over-the-top attire besides his Ties. But, after being with Max for long enough, he was inspired to at make him look a little more Superhero Nightmare Mage and less Teenager Just Woke Up. He wears torn black skinny jeans, torn enough you can see the faint scars. He's taken to wearing a... shirt, I guess, but it's really more of some silk draped over his chest. Shoulders, abs, arms, everything is still exposed, only now he's wearing a halter top with 95% less coverage. It's also got this little cross pendant thingy that hangs down over his sternum, connecting to a black gemstone cased in bronze, which is connected to the silk. He does make it look good, though. After the Control Freak incident, he's taken to wearing a "blindfold." It's made of shadow, so can see through it, but no one else can.

Personality: Lucas is an upbeat kind of guy, kind and always has other's best interest at heart. He adores making friends and being surrounded by people. He usually has a smile on his face, and is always happy to help his friends. He loves the attention, he loves the lights, he loves being loved. He's incredibly romantic and spontaneous, coming up with activities on the spot is a natural talent of his. He's passionate about everything he does, even the small things. Lucas is an incredibly talented musician, and can play nearly any instrument he tries because of how long and how hard he's worked at it. He's especially proficient in viola, guitar, and vocals, and is usually humming one tune or another. If you watch him fight, you'll notice he fights to a rhythm, and you might even see him counting the beats out. He's also quite responsible, and very good at managing finances. Lucas is empathetic, incredibly empathetic, and can easily figure out what others are feeling, and his emotions will match theirs.

He enjoys a wide variety of pursuits besides music, athletics being one of them. Though he's never been good at sports involving a ball, he's a talented ice skater and ballroom dancer, and he's also very good at fistfighting. He likes going to the gym, especially when he's in a bad mood, because working out and getting stronger helps him feel again, and get his mind off things. He loves the delicateness of ice skating and ballroom dancing, and has become very strong through a lot of lifting other people up in both areas. He does enjoy a good video game from time to time, but he prefers storyline over anything else. Pokemon has always been a favorite for him because of this, and he adores Banette, having one on every game possible. He hates alcohol, as it makes his symptoms worse, and refuses to drink it. He also hates coffee. He's also a cuddler, and can be very very touchy and huggy and "dude let's hold hands aw ye."

However, he's easily annoyed, and his annoyance is usually shown by explosive anger. His emotions are extreme than normal (i.e. he gets really angry by simple annoyances), especially the more negative emotions. His reactions with other people tend to be more intense also, and he doesn't handle criticism, unkindness, or rejection well. He's clingy and dependant, often having a "favorite person" who he's always trying to get attention from. Though Lucas is incredibly skilled at emotional empathy (knowing and feeling what others are feeling), he lacks cognitive empathy (knowing what others are thinking basically). If someone around him is upset, he'll automatically believe himself to be the cause even if he's done absolutely nothing. He's sensitive to sudden changes in attention (be it an increasement or decreasement), and if there's a sudden decrease in attention he often starts panicking. Lucas can't focus very well, and is also very impulsive, never really thinking things through. He can also be very moody, and occasionally goes through periods of "swinging," usually an hour or so of extreme mood swings. He has absolutely no sense of self, and clings to the things he's good at or praised for in hopes of keeping some personality he can call his own.

Lucas's greatest fears are being alone and being abandoned. Lucas will usually try to make friends wherever he goes because of this. He cannot stand being alone, and insists he always has someone with him. He doesn't sleep well if there isn't someone nearby (nearby being, someone else in the house). Due to terrible, violent nightmares, he has to take medications to suppress his dreams. Lucas tends to shut down when he's alone, which can lead to dissociation or cutting. Lucas can sometimes feel hollow or empty, which hurts quite a bit for not being able to feel anything during those periods. While he's made great strides in managing his self-harm problem, Lucas will occasionally relapse and cut himself. It's especially triggered by anger, feeling "hollow," sadness, rejection, or being alone. He hates himself, and blames himself for his father's death. He believes he's unsalvageable, unworthy of love and affection, even though that's exactly what he wants. Though he normally functions well, he is terrified he'll lose control and everything will come crashing down around him.

Though Lucas struggles with mental illness (PTSD and BPD, specifically), he has made great strides in keeping it all under control, and to most people it would seem nothing was ever wrong in the first place.

History: Trigger warning for abuse, self harm, suicide, murder... suffice it to say that Lucas Moncrief's history is likely the worst out of all of my characters.

Lucas was born to Luana and Isaac Maxwell. Isaac and Luana were an arranged marriage -- Luana was the heir to Cranford and Company of England, Isaac the heir to Morningstar Incorporated of Germany. As part of the agreement, neither could take on the other's last name, but they chose a middle ground. Maxwell was chosen because it was an English name, the origin of Cranford, and it began with M, for Morgenstern. Due to Isaac not wanting Lucas to grow up overly pampered and sheltered, they moved from Germany to America when Lucas was four, where would enjoy a relatively normal life (though, let's be honest, they were so well off they could live just about anywhere they wanted). Isaac loved Lucas very much, and spent a lot of time with him. A couple months before Lucas started school at five, Luana became pregnant with her second child. Tragically, it ended in a miscarriage late second trimester. After that, Luana was never the same. She started to be more introverted, spending more time with herself than with Lucas or Isaac, and she started to be much more violent and unpredictable, yelling at Lucas for the silliest things. Isaac started to worry about Lucas, but unfortunately, work got in the way. Isaac's parents died shortly before they moved to America, and Luana's was very ill. Though Lucas was set to be the heir to combine the two companies/families, as he was only five years old, Isaac took his place in managing things, requiring increasingly more time overseas in Germany. This, sadly, allowed Luana to get worse. The abuse got worse and worse, and while I, Sketchie, know what happens to this poor boy, due to its incredibly disturbing nature will not be revealing past Luana beating Lucas nearly every day. The scar on his pectoral and side were both created by Luana. Luana created a system of warped rules, that Lucas strictly followed (punishment could range from another beating, to being forced to stay up all night, to being starved a day or two). He lost his voice, never speaking a word at his house. But he would sing. In the dead of night, when he was certain his mother was asleep, he would make up little melodies for himself. And he sang songs of hope for the future. "But Sketchie!" someone from the corner whines. "Child Protection Services!!" Oh, sweetie from the corner, worse things happen that go right past CPS. With Luana's incredible knack at being motherly when everyone was watching (including her own husband, who mostly lived in Germany due to work), everyone thought the problem was in Lucas, not Luana.

Life continued like this until around the time Lucas was ten years old. Four days before Lucas's tenth birthday, his mother had accidentally stabbed him in the side. The wound required staples to be put in for the first little while. Early morning two days before Lucas's tenth birthday, Lucas had a particularly bad dream. In his thrashing and tearing at himself, some of the staples were torn out, waking him. As you can guess, there was blood everywhere -- both from the newly opened wound, and the places where the staples had ripped. Lucas panics and tries in vain to hide his sobbing and to stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, both efforts were in vain, and Isaac, who had just arrived home, heard the soft commotion. Isaac enters Lucas's room to find the tear-stained blood-stained boy, and immediately takes him back to the ER to get everything patched up again. When the doctors lifted off Lucas's shirt, Isaac noticed just how thin Lucas had become, as well as a myriad of bruises and a stitched up wound next to his sternum. Isaac is shocked, and very confused. On the way home, Isaac asks Lucas where he got his injuries. Lucas, sick and tired of keeping it all in, gushes to his father about everything that had happened over the past five years. Isaac is heartbroken to hear his son's tale, and decided that it had to end tonight.

You would think this is where we get a happy ending, but I'm merely writing a history planned two years ago, and alas, there is no happy ending for the Maxwell family. Isaac had a handgun. It had been passed down for generations and would go to Lucas when he came of age. It was truly gorgeous, blue tulips adoring an ivory grip. It was kept in a safe that only the eldest of each generation knew the code to. Unfortunately, Isaac made a fatal mistake. He left the safe unlocked, giving Luana access to the gun only two months prior. December 18th. Lucas tells Isaac all. Isaac is racked with guilt at being such a neglectful father for five years. Isaac waits for Lucas to go to bed, before confronting Luana. Everything snaps. Luana pulls the gun from somewhere nearby (she had been using it to scare Lucas only a few days earlier) and begins to fire. One shot through the light bulb. One shot through the floor. One shot through the piano. One shot through the window. One shot through Isaac's knee. Isaac cries out. A neighbor has been awoken. They are afraid, but for all the wrong reasons. Luana, calm and collected and insane, sets the gun down on the table. She walks into Lucas's room, takes him by the ear and slams him out of bed. She then drags Lucas into the dining room, and sets Lucas across from his father. Luana goes off on some rant, though her speech is slurred and incomprehensible. One shot through the lightbulb. One shot through the kitchen floor. One shot through the piano. One shot through the window. One shot through Isaac's knee.

One shot through Isaac's head.

In one quick motion, Luana had grabbed the gun, and shot her husband through the temple. She walked over to Lucas and placed the gun to his head. A neighbor awoke a long time ago. They are afraid, but for all the wrong reasons. They called the police, afraid for the Maxwell household. The trigger is pulled. The gun never fires. Police break down the doors. They rescue a dead father, a disowned mother, and a broken son.

With Isaac dead, and Luana in prison, Lucas couldn't stay in his home. Both of Isaac's parents were dead, and Luana's parents were living in Belgium, dying. Lucas had a godfather in Germany, but both he and the caseworker decided it wasn't suitable for Lucas to travel all the way to Germany, so Lucas was put into foster care. He went to a couple houses around the city, before coming to the Moncrief home. Elaine and Ollie Moncrief were a nice couple, and had been married for seven years. They already had a child, five-year-old Matthew, and Elaine was pregnant with another son, to be named Markus. Elaine was a mechanical engineer, and Ollie was a doctor. Elaine and Ollie took Lucas into their home gladly, and after a few months Lucas was adopted. Lucas abandoned the Maxwell name, and took on the Moncrief name. But, the years of abuse and the traumatic night of his father's death had taken a toll on the boy. He refused to speak unless spoken to, and cried if anyone raised their voices too loud. Elaine, an abuse survivor herself, aided in Lucas's recovery. One month after Lucas arrived at the Moncrief home was the first time he said a word unprompted, and you could see the relief and joy in Elaine's and Ollie's eyes. However, around this time began the nightmares. Turbulent, terrorizing, violent nightmares that shook Lucas to the core, leaving him tossing and screaming night after night. Though Lucas had already been seeing a psychiatrist, they took him to a specialized doctor to see what was going on. Everything pointed to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Lucas was put on medication to suppress the nightmares.

The nightmares stopped. Lucas simultaneously got better and he got worse. He began to talk more. He stopped singing solely at night, and began to sing whenever he felt. Elaine bought him a guitar and a viola for his 11th and 12th birthday, hoping music would help heal the pain. And it helped to an extent. Lucas got better. Lucas got worse. As time went on, it was evident something was seriously wrong. He was so incredibly irritable and moody. And reckless. Mostly in terms of sexuality. He lost his virginity when he was only fourteen, and since has had partner after partner after partner. Life was a game and Lucas was too angry and in so much pain that he didn't care what happened to him. He just wanted to play. Needless to say, Elaine was concerned, and began to take him to another psychiatrist. After months of evaluation and attempted therapy, they reluctantly diagnosed him with Borderline Personality Disorder. Over time and with several therapy sessions, Lucas was able to straighten things out again, and learned how to control his emotions. To a point. It's a process. During this whole mess of mid teen years, he and four of his friends decided to start a band. They named it Russian Roulette, partially because of a band member's nationality, partially because of the role guns have played in Luc's life, and also because of a Bring Me the Horizon song.

Around the time Lucas was 15, he noticed strange things happening around him. He found himself able to control shadows to an extent, even create shadows as he worked at it. It was fun, though he wasn't quite sure why or how it was happening. Completely by accident, he managed to slip into his brother's shadow, and then into his dreams. Speaking of being 15,he got drunk once at 15, but was raped by his boyfriend at the time, so alcohol is out. He’s taken ketamine once, but it gave him a bad trip, and messed with his nightmare medication for a few weeks. Drugs are also out. Fun times! Lucas's life went on as normal as it could be until he was 17. One fateful night, when the rest of his family were out of the house, and Lucas was alone, he started to go into his panic mode. Trying to suppress it, he made himself a nice warm bath, and just soaked. Then he started to think, and his thoughts spiraled out of control. He started thinking that he was truly alone, that he had been abandoned by everyone. Not having people in the house made it worse. Somehow, his mind found a conclusion - it would be better if I didn't exist. In his state of cloudy thinking, he grabbed his razor from the counter, took a deep breath, and cut two slits in his left wrist. He leaned back, watching his blood color the water red, and fell asleep.

When Lucas woke up, he was in the hospital, an IV in his arm and his family gathered by his bed. Elaine told him that when they had come home, Matthew had found him unconscious in bloodstained water. Freaked out, Matthew told Elaine and Ollie. From the time Lucas slit his wrist to the time the rest of the Moncrief family found him, Lucas had lost a lot of blood, and was as pale as snow. Ollie found a way to stop the bleeding, bandage the cut, and dress Lucas quickly. They took him to the hospital where Ollie worked, and were able to give him a blood transfusion. After a few days, Lucas was able to go home. After a long talk with his parents, Lucas retired to his room to think. As he thought, he realized something. The pain he felt when he cut himself... felt good. Not good in a fulfilling way, but there was a release. He confined himself to his room, and once again brought the blade to his wrist, though he didn't cut as deep that time. For a time, it was very out of control, and scars appeared on his shoulder and mostly his thighs. Late senior year, he finally took the steps to overcome his problem, but the temptation never truly went away, and he still had the occasional relapse. The bathtub incident marks the steady decline of his self destructive sex life, and the steady incline of self destructive self-harming.

Eventually, he graduated high school. In secret, throughout his high school career, he had worked on his shadow manipulation skills until they were quite good. He never really brought it up around anyone, but during his senior year of high school, he began to take on some vigilante work. Mostly out of boredom, but there was that twinge of recklessness and that thirst for feeling. Shortly after turning eighteen, he met Robin out of sheer luck, and joined the Teen Titans under the codename of Nightmare. It seemed fitting, as he had figured out how to tap into the dreams of others, as well as the reason for his own lack of dreams. At nineteen, he was asked if he would join a temporary tower in Chromium City. Not having any better to do, he accepted, and joined with the rest where he is today.

Though he never joined the team to fall in love (he had a tumultuous breakup a few months before, and decided to take a break), that is exactly what happened. A violet lantern by the name of Maxwell Lovedork Hunkson took Lucas's world by storm. They couldn't keep their lips off each other in the first day they knew each other, and it seemed as though the media was all for the pairing. Unfortunately, one of their teammates was not, which resulted in unnecessary tension between the three.

However, after a day full of exhaustion, Lucas had Control Freak tied down -- until he didn't. Archie took advantage of this, stealing Control Freak away and beating him to death. Literally. This deeply shook Lucas, and while rationally he understands that CF's death wasn't his fault, he blames himself anyway. He wouldn't tell you that, though. And of course, the scars on his thighs haven't increased, not at all. (By this, I mean definitely there are more self-inflicted scars. But shh, don't tell Max, he doesn't know.) Crime went up. The mayor went down. Turns out his cousin is the leader of some big crime thing. He and Max have still been going steady, and the two grow more and more comfortable with each other day by day. Unfortunately, Lucas still feels like he's slipping. He's been spending more time pacing alone in his room, restless and unfocused. He's been going to a therapist again, trying to get his emotions in order again, but ask him where he's going and he won't answer you. He's scared to tell Max what's going on, even though he knows exactly that's what needs to happen. He's mostly afraid of losing Max. He's afraid of losing control. Currently, his course is to keep on keepin' on as best he can, but he's worried for the future, and what happens if he loses control of his anger.

And now he's on some island. Great.

Civilian Name: Vara Tortelli

Superhero Name: Datalogger

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Powers/Gadgets:
Data Stream: Vara converts herself into a stream of data and enter nearby electronic devices. If the devices is broken or powered off, she is forced out and her body returns to normal. She also isn’t the best hacker so any advanced firewall can prevent her from entering a device. When in this form, she can download and upload information. She can quickly skim through files and images to learn what’s in them. On the flip side, she can create documents or images using her own thoughts or memories. Transforming and moving from object to object takes focus and energy while trying to break through firewalls and creating data from her mind really tires her out. Often she can only create one or two small things before needing to exit this form, but she can hop to a handful of devices before tiring out.

Overclock: Vara’s reflexes are quicker than most including her conscious and subconscious thoughts. She can tap into this innate ability to further increase her reaction time and process things even more quickly, but she will burn out very fast.

Convert/Tech Hammer: Both a power and a gadget, Vara wields a lengthy, heavy hammer. It was the original source of her power and has since merged so that if broken or lost, it will always return to her. With focus and a moment for the device to react, Vara can change the form of her hammer. It has to be small enough for her to hold (no bigger than a microwave is her general rule) and cannot be broken into multiple pieces (one object, no throwing stars or walkie talkies). Vara is the source of power for any appliances that need it and she can sense it as if it’s an extension of herself (if someone steals it, she can track it or simply call it back to her unless specific actions are taken to prevent her from doing so).

Tracker Discs: A shoddy invention of her own, Vara has about a dozen small, adhesive, bluetooth, discs. Using some basic electronics knowledge, the discs are battery powered and emit a bluetooth signal when activated. There is a basic adhesive on the back allowing her to stick them to objects or people, usually through direct contact but sometimes she can manage an accurate throw that’ll stick to a ranged target.

Smoke Canister: Vara has a few small, smoke filled canisters. She has them on hand for various uses; a distraction, a smokescreen, even a weapon if she’s really desperate. Usually used when she tires out and struggles to use her powers effectively.

Appearance:

Vara is on the short side, but only just short of average. Her body is that of a gymnast; toned, slim, and ridiculously flexible. Her skin is a darker, sandier color and is nearly spotless. On closer inspection, she applies a subtle layer of makeup to hide freckles along her face. It’s hard to notice though as her dark and deep blue eyes are very striking. The eyeliner and eyeshadow she applies helps accentuate them further. Despite her efforts of looking mature, she has a it of a pudgy baby face. Her hair is a mop of thick, ashy brown curls that give her a hard time. She uses product to give it a bit of volume and keep it out of her face, but leaves in the wavy texture that she likes. There are two tattoos on her body; a sun tattoo on her left shoulder and flame styled tattoos on her right forearm, both simply black.

Vara has a couple of quirks. She frequently fiddles with her watch when nervous, regardless of if the situation will require her powers or not. The watch is a comforting object to her and she is never without it. Her voice is still pretty high and childish, but she generally speaks monotone as part of her personality. She doesn’t emote much, but she she does it’s with huge, sweeping arm motions. Shrugging is her most common response.

Vara has a Bohemian sense of style. She likes loose, colorful tops with equally flowy skirts. She’s generally a fan of darker shades of purples and reds, but will generally wear any color. Tank tops and wide shoulders are her favorite style of tops, best to show off her tattoos. Her footwear is where she most lacks a sense of fashion and generally wears the same pair of flats, flip flops, or sneakers based on the basic color scheme she’s going for. Comfort and modesty is important to her, but she can sometimes stretch these if the outfit is cute enough. Of course, her favorite thing to do is accessorize with hair clips, headbands, or anything else she can stick in her hair. She has quite the hoard in her closet.

Datalogger, her hero persona, is clothed in form fitting, flexible and breathable material. Her dark navy boots had a study base and cover her whole calf. She wears thick black shorts with compression shorts underneath. The top is navy like her boots, sleeveless, and snug. There are three accessories to finish off her hero outfit. She has two fingerless navy gloves that nearly reach up to her elbows to help protect against minor injuries. There is a complex series of pockets attached to her shorts, bright green in color. Sections can be removed if she has no use for them. Last is her navy mask to hide her identity. It easily applies to her face and even protects her eyes from glare.

Personality:
Vara is the kind of person to blend into the background. Growing up with lots of siblings helped helped her avoid the spotlight and she was easily forgotten. This led to two strong interpersonal traits; she keeps secrets from others and she is able to easily read people. She doesn’t really want to burden others with her issues, even if she might struggle in silence and alone. She prefers to handle things on her own, believing she’s the only person who can really understand herself. She may be right. This also leads her to pay close attention to others. She watches for regular behaviour and patterns in people, takes notes when things change, and makes sure to keep friendly until people open up to her. She’s good at understanding others’ boundaries and allowing people to be themselves.

Another stark trait of Varas is that she is very emotionless. Not quite robotic, she can easily express herself and feel things, but everything is dulled to her and those who know her best can tell. Her few passions, video games and gymnastics, are when she is most animated, but for the most part she is unmoved by things. She gives short responses and can’t really go deeply into things about herself, as if there’s not much there. In response, she enjoys a face paced life. She doesn’t like sitting still for long. When seeking thrills, she might set her morals to the side for a time. After getting her powers, she may have tried breaking into some government systems and she succeeded in other, smaller attempts at searching for dirty secrets. Past all that though, she’s quite childish at heart. She loves immature jokes even if she tires to act mature at all times. Far from a pushover though, she only indulges around friends and for the most part acts a responsible almost-adult.

History:
Born to lower middle class family, Vara had lots of siblings. Three were older, two were younger, and Vara was stuck in the middle, nearly forgotton most of her life. She learned early on how to behave like a grown up with her older siblings while she became very skilled at breaking up her younger siblings’ arguments. Not having a ton of money between them all either, she started doing little jobs around the neighborhood at a young age and stashing money away for herself. This became very important to her later on, but for now she could get candy at the store or go see a movie every once in a while with friends.

Video games and gymnastics became her indulgences. She spent or borrowed what she could for new consoles or games, sometimes cajoling her siblings into splitting the cost with her. Gymnastics was something none of her other siblings had done and it made her feel like her own person. Her first big spend came Sophomore year when she learned their team would be going to Paris for a competition. Saving up was difficult, but she was desperate to go and managed to scrape up enough.

The trip was very exciting and made even more exciting one evening when a villain attacked the city. A couple of people became afflicted by the villains power, Vara included, but a superhero duo came to the rescue and returned the city to normal. Vara was star struck, but she also stumbled upon something left behind. While everything else had returned to normal, there was an abnormality left behind just a block away from her. Upon approaching it, the thing jumped out and merged with Vara before she could even let out a cry. After a moment, she felt the change in herself and a watch appeared on her wrist. For a while she tried removing it and nothing worked. She then tried tapping into the new, strange power she felt inside herself and started learning how to use her powers.

In under two years, she had managed to learn the basics of the powers she acquired. Approaching her senior year, she became interested in this hero business at Chromium City, just one town away. She approached the team, demonstrated her powers, and asked for a chance to prove herself and be a part of a team. They agreed and Vara excitedly told her family she got an ‘internship’ in Chromium City and would be gone more often, but would still finish school. She is hoping to graduate early so classes won’t get in the way of hero business.
