Tm/hm

<I will find you!
Lock if theres already a thread about this...

What do you think the TM/HM's will be? I really hope we get new ones but I highly doubt it because D/P is compatible with R/S/E/FR/LG...well Discuss New TM's you want Example: HM 9 Jump, or TM 50 Dragon Dance ect...

G/S/C also had new TM/HM's but was compitable with R/B/Y...so I think it WILL have new ones. I hope they wont use doubleteam and hyperbeam as TM's again..

But still, you can't use hold items to trade between RBY and GSC....so the TM change wasn't a problem

I wish they would just do away with HM's all together, or atleast limit the number of them to 5. It gets annoying.

The tricky thing here is that R/B/Y didn't have any hold items so you couldn't trade items between games.

Assuming we get TMs, please give us a good Grass attack and a strong Dark attack that are both widely learned. The set beckons nothing nearly as strongly as these sorts of moves.

HMs could use some kinky variety. Give us some more elemental attacks that aren't Water and actually useful and I will be intent. Perhaps a Psychic-type move called Decipher, used to decode ancient runes so that you can open up new passages, and in battle it reveals one move from the enemy's moveset while doing 30 damage. An Ice-type one called Chill Thread could be used to form slick bridges that span over deep canyons while doing 70 damage in battle with a high CH ratio, and there could even be a Grass one in Vine Swing that lets you jump from tree to tree in a thick forest.

sure, but do you remember if you tried to trade a 1st gen pokemon to R/B/Y, and then the women infront of the "time machine" said, that you cant trade it 'cause of it's "new" attack? I think it will be similar with the TM's in D/P.

They maybe will make new HMs. Even FR/LG that is compatible with R/S/E, R/S/E has more HMs, so, why not add here some more new HMs.

I think it's possible to have an all new TM set for DP but still be able to trade TMs.

say you're going to trade a pokemon from an advanced game into D or P, this pokemon has "TM 01" attached to it. In the advanced games, TM 01 contains Focus Punch, but in the DP games, TM 01 is a new punching attack.

It's still possible to trade the TM just like any regular item, but the move it contains changes during the trade, it may be even possible to trade TM 01 (DP move) back into an advanced game and it becomes TM 01 (Focus Punch) (provided that the backward compatabiliy can go both ways)

luckly, HMs can't be attached so there's no harm in making more of them.

The only problem would be that the pokemon from older generations now have access to 2 TM sets, the advanced set and the DP set, while DP pokemon only have 1 to work with. However, this can be easily remedied by move tutors that teach moves that were replaced by DP attacks.

and as always it wouldn't be possible to trade DP pokemon or pokemon with DP moves into the advanced games.

The HM's need to be usable in battle. The only one that is usable, and is very decent, is surf, whilst all the others are awful moves. I just don't see the point in them. It also gets annoying having to sacrifice one of your earlier squad members in the game by making one of them a HM slave. It just makes it a 5 man party which can make the earlier stages tedious.

Like Eszett stated though, there definitely needs to be a grass move. Hell they should change cut to a grass move considering it cuts grass and bushes :O Should have good attack points as well. I'd be happy with 70+ attack points. A nice CH rate or other effects (such as chance of flinch/paralyze) would also be nice.

I have a feeling trading with held items will be disabled completely. Or, if not, as others have mentioned, the TM will simply become whatever move it is in that gen. So TM01 in D/P, which will most likely being "___ Punch" will become Focus Punch when it's traded to R/S/E/Fr/Lg and vice versa.

disabling trade items would be comepletely out of the question since some pokemon need a trade item to evolve, and some items may not even be found in DP (such as rare berries from a GC games)

I stated this already, but I would like to reiterate it. So here goes...

Gamefreak ought to make a new set of fiftyTMs for D/P that has new moves, old moves, and old TM moves in one big compilation. All TMs in these group would be obtainable in the course of playing D/P. Then, after the fiftieth TM, those TMs that were in R/S but not in that set of fifty would be assigned positions beyond that; for example, Focus Punch might be TM 51. This would be called Shinou Numbering, and in order to activate the ability to trade TMs you need to get an item called the Enumerator and give it to some Pokenerd that fiddles with machines all day. He'll hook it up to the Time Machine, allowing you to get old 3rd-gen TMs onto your Pokemon. These old moves are not breedable via the passing-on-TMs technique until this feature is activated.

You had me until here. It should be just fine to "breed" them even without them being TM Status.

I think it'd be kinda interesting if your character has "writable disks" that he can pick up throughout his journey. Maybe like 15-20. You can use these disks in conjunction with your Advance games to "write" your TM into D/P. You have to be frugal on what you send because it does count as "using" it in the advance game, but you're free to send whatever you want (bullet seed :p). With that in effect, Gamefreak can make 50 new TM's. You can trade Blank and written disks from/to D/P, but there's no sending them back. They would take up space in your new CD holder. The CD holder, itself, could keep up to 50 CD's. Enough for one old one each.

Dragon dance should become a tm, I like it.
And hopefully we will get stronger elemental moves and physical moves.
But I was just thinking, if I was to give a snorlax a new tm in D/P and send it to emerald what would happen.
Thats actually getting me worried since new tms cannot be sent to emerald, unless its not allowed to enter the room with hold items.
