I liked Advanced fine, but how much I like it fluctuated. Hoenn ended badly but towards the middle and in the BF it was really good, cardboard main group aside

Good at the beginning. Crap in the end. Mostly due to the major shaft of enticing in-game locations and very rushed climax. Bye-bye Mt. Pyre, Shoal Cave, Seafloor Cavern and all Regi places. We hardly knew ye... :(

The only stretch of Hoenn that was a chore were the fillers between Winona's Gym and Tate/Liza's Gym. For some odd reason, a large chunk of fillers between those two Gyms really sucked.

Otherwise Hoenn was fantastic. Excellent character development, fantastic arcs, (aside from skipping Mt. Pyre and making the conclusion of Groudon/Kyorge suffer for it), and great battles.

It's possible to enjoy all the arcs, like I do, but the way the end of Hoenn is bashed is laughable. Can you say, "blowing out of proportion?"

The people who bash the Hoenn GF and league also take the cake, although each should have been about one episode longer, they were both very good. Great battles and rivals, (Drew/Harley and Morrison/Tyson were fantastic dynamics and backstory), you can't have it any better.

Yes, an episode focused on Mt. Pyre seems like it would've been loads better than that crap Kagebouzu filler we got.

Anyway, you all seem to be talking about Houen, but isn't this thread asking about Advanced Generation as a whole? That'd include Battle Frontier, wouldn't it?

Well some people are annoyed at how later in the game stuff that could be interesting (Mt. Pyre, Groudon and Kyogre, Fortree City, diving to Sootopolis) was kind of shafted in favor of making it more generic and exactly the same

I liked the beginning of Hoenn... I hated the fillers that happen around some of the gyms (Winona and Tate & Liza, I believe). I missed a good chunk of that though, so it wasn't too bad for me personally. I missed some of the Groudon/Kyogre "arc" as well, now that I think about it. Maybe that's why I'm not as bothered by how rushed it was as other people were, but if I watched the whole thing, I would probably be complaining about it.

As far as the BF goes, I missed far too much of it to really say anything about it. At least I caught all of the Hoenn gym battles and contests (if I'm not mistaken), but I've only seen Ash battle Articuno (I friggin missed half of the episode anyway) and May's Grand Festival (which I thought was pretty decent). I'll catch up eventually.

I like AG for the most part though.

At first, I didn't like it but then I was hooked on the midway point of Advanced Challenge (probably because of Bulbasaur)
