Several normal pokemon learn metronome and if you check the attackdex entry on the page, it'd tell you what it does.
Metronome randomly selects an attack from the entire list of attacks and uses it. nothing more to it

Yes, watch out for explosion, selfdestruct and other worthless attacks(in some situations)

It isn't closed anymore, as I know, any pokemon with Metronome can't use attacks you never seen, eg; if you're in the beginning of the game, you never seen someone using Sacred Fire, it can't use it. But this is just how I know.

It's not magic, metronome randomly picks any pokemon move and uses it. You're lucky that aeroblast was picked. You don't have to make a new thread just to discuss about that though. Metronome gave me Aeroblast twice...
