Tomorrow will be a sad day for Sonic fandom....

Tomorrow, Jan 15th 2006 it will be exactly 1 year Deem Bristow, the former voice actor for the great character known as Dr.Eggman, passed away.

I don't know how to say this... but I find this very sad. Deem's voice was the absolute best voice for Eggman ever. After playing Shadow the Hedgehog, I can only conclude that we're very lucky Sonic Team asked Mike to do Eggman's voice acting. I think Mike does great work, but I'll come back to that later.

Even if I think Mike Pollock does VERY good work, I still think Deem was the best. For me, Deem Bristow is to Eggman what Sean Connery is to James Bond: even tho the other bond-actors like Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan did EXCELLENT work, Sean Connery still is James Bond. He was still the best.

Same goes for Deem... he was Dr.Eggman, even if I think Pollock is the only guy that could be given the title of "Worthy folower for a great man like Deem Bristow", he can't beat Deem's amazing work. But don't get me wrong: I like Mike Pollock's work a lot. Sometimes when he talks deeply, he even reminds me Deem Bristow a little, and sometimes Mike has a higher pitch in the voice which reminds me of Otsuka (the Japanese VA with the well known "Oooohohohohooo" laugh)

Mike does a good combination of both deep and high pitched voice which is why I like his work so much. But still... I miss Deem Bristow.

It's been one year he left the scene now, and I will remember him tomorrow. I call upon all Eggman fans that play Sonic games to play your favorite Eggman-level of SA2B (which is Lost Colony for me) in memory of Deem Bristow. Maybe you will find this silly of me to make this thread, but I don't care, and I felt the need to do it. I hope you will understand.

May you rest in peace.

He was one of the few Sonic Adventure/2/Heroes actors that could actually act. His voice was dead-on perfect for Dr. Eggman, and I was so depressed when I had found out that he died. Of course, if he had lived, he would've just been fired along with the rest of the old cast, so it's probably best that he didn't have to go through that.

I think I'll go play the original Sonic Adventure in memorium.

R.I.P Deem Bristow. You are sorely missed.

May you rest in peace. I don't quite remember his voice as I have not played a Sonic game with his voice-acting in a while, but my regards go to you, Deem Bristow.

I was really fun playing Cosmic Wall with the English voices opision on, Mike Pollock is close, but can never become the ture Eggman since Deem Bristow rightfully has that title and is a bit too high pitch.

Actucally, Deem Bristow's death is the reason why SEGA of America fired the ture cast, and replaced them with 4kids', which makes no sense at all. I want Tails' Adventures VA to come back, what happaned to him/her?

Puberty. He doesn't sound like the Sonic Adventure Tails anymore, which is why they hired a new actor for Heroes.

Damn man, I had no idea he died O_O;

He was the perfect VA for Dr.Eggman in the games...that really sucks.

RIP

I can't believe it has been a year already... damn... He really was among, if not the best VA the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise ever had. Mike is one of the few VA's who does well in the replacement cast but is definitly not like Deem was. There was a certain charm to Deem's Eggman voice that well... just suited Eggman. The ignorant, feminist, smart, evil, and goofy scientist and Deem's voice just put it together awesomly.

I think in memory I'll boot up Sonic Adventure. Manly this one because this was the first game I heard Deem's voice (along with the others), memories come over me about how I was playing Sonic's story and I beat Chaos for the first time and he comes out saying, "You know nothing fool! Its Chaos the God of Destruction! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" but my memories more focus on when I was playing Sonic's story and I go to Tails' workshop where he is waiting with Chaos and the Egg Hornet...

Eggman: Well if it isn't my friend Sonic!
Sonic: Look a giant talking egg!
Eggman: Silence! I am Doctor Robotnik, the greatest scientific genius in the world!
Sonic: Whatever you say, Eggman!
(Or something like that)

Basically when I first heard that conversation I knew the Doctor Robotnik I fought when I was a little kid in the original Sonic games had Deem's voice. And from that day on the two went together for me. It actually had more of an effect on me then hearing Sonic's, Tails', or even Knuckles' voice for the first time. When I was a little kid Doctor Robotnik was always "The meanie bad guy!" but he grew to a character that became one of my favorites who I respect, as well as Deem's skills doing his voice.

R.I.P. Deem Bristow. You will always have a high position in the Eggman Empire.

Oh my god, Deem was awesome. I loved that voice. He was awesome in Sonic Adventure. I can't say that Mike Pollock is bad, but no one can beat Deem. Big the Cats V.A. died too. But that was about 2 years ago, I'm sure.

RIP Deem. I don't care about Sonic, but it is sad when someone dies. You will live in the hearts of Sonic fans forever.

It was last year? For some reason, I thought it had been longer. I'd heard about this before, though.
A reminder that I'm really a just a newbie Sonic fan. (Who plays mostly 3-D games. Shame on me.)

Anyway, R.I.P, I guess. That guy did perfect with Eggman. Sonic Adventure (DX, to be specific) was the first Sonic game I really played, (aside from 2-player SA2: B a looong time ago) last April. He really fit the role, you know? I can't say I feel as strongly, as I knew just about nothing about Sonic at the time, and I never heard about this at that time, but....still.....I just feel like I should say something in here.

*feels like some kind of poser*

Same here, I'm also just a noobie fan(SA2 for DC was my first time.) He really nailed Eggman's voice.

I'm feeling like a broken record.

When a character's voice actor was exactly what the character should sound like, it really is a shame to them. Someone mentioned Bond, and he's right, Deem was the Sean Connery of Sonic.
