Toonami Month of Miyazaki Week 2: Princess Mononoke Reviews

[imgsize=332]http://img487.imageshack.us/img487/8576/princessmononokedvd6qo.jpg[/imgsize]

I'm sick and tired of this Sprited Away this and that, I WANT MY ACTION!!! And now you get it...one of the more "actiony" Miyazaki works "Princess Mononoke" makes its appearance (UNCUT!!!) on Toonami tonight, so what do you think of that?

Tonight at 7:30 after Transformers Cybertron, followed by a new episode of our wiggy hero Bobobo!

I find it hard to believe that it's going to be uncut. It can get pretty bloody IMO.

Thornton's in it? Who did he do?

Yep. Uncut. And a fun movie for everyone to see.

This was the first time Ive ever seen this movie.

It was one of the single most Awsome things Ive ever seen.

What was the name of those cool little white things?

They're called Kodama.

I'm not sure how they got away with showing it uncut, but I'm glad they did. I admit this is my first time seeing the movie and I have to say I was quite impressed. Good story, good art, good characters. Way too many commercials, but there isn't much anyone can do about that. Good show, Toonami.

This is probably the longest movie I've watched in awhile.

Nonetheless, this was the first time I saw PM. It was simply fantastic and I enjoyed it. Glad it was uncut too. It was more gruesome, I suppose I can put it like that, than I thought.
...but I like it like that. XD

Agreed, good show Toonami.

Thanks Megchan.
Did anyone else notace that the quality of the video went wonky once or twice?

Having seen this, this means that I've seen all of the Miyazaki films. This one is probably the third best. There's really nothing in particular to critisize, aside from the copious amount of commercial breaks. Shame I missed it when it showed on TCM...

I saw it and all I have to say is...

YAY, VIOLENCE!!!

I wonder, why would someone like Dinsey license something like Princess Mononoke?

Yeah. His works are best left uncut...

JUST LIKE ANY ANIME THAT 4KIDS ENTERTAINMENT WOULD EVER DUB, YOU SLEAZEBAGS!

I'm glad I watched this movie. It was good, it has volience. It has some bad words like B-----d (excuse my language). I think it's the first time Toonami used this word. It even has some massacre in it. Thank goodness they didn't edit that out (unlike 4Kids).

How they got away with violence: Miyazaki's works are not allowed to be edited like that, because he says so!
Your right, I completely forgot about that. X3

Because they got it along with the rights of his other movies, IIRC.

Disney recognizes Miyazaki's films as works of art. Disney is not TOTALLY anal about violence and language. They do have movies with just as much violence.

This is just one of those movies that they probably won't show on the Disney Channel.

O_O I saw this movie and FTW....it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. I loved the fighting, action and the romance...but Toonami needs to know that only 6 minutes of the movie and then about 5 minutes of commercials is NOT the way to keep people watching the movie! @_@ I got so sick of the commericials because I was recording it, and I'm like, 'Another darned commercial?? What the CRAP!!?'

*cough*

Anyway, I loved this one a lot, and it's my favorite Miyazaki movie as of now. Although a movie I've been wanting to see 'Castle In The Sky' is on next Saturday, so I can't wait for that. ^_^

The reason why it was uncut is because Miyazaki forbuds his movies from being edited (except for translations). I loved the movie, it had an excellent mix of genres, as well as beautiful animation. Far better than Spirited Away (which was alright mind you, but was pointless). Who the heck did Billy Bob Thornton play in this?
