General Pokemon Discussion is, I'm sad to say, driven by pessimism. As soon as we finish playing on our Pokemon games, we're automatically compelled to think about the flaws of the series: the things that don't make sense, the discrepancies, the irregularities, the boring aspects, whether there are too many legendaries, whether there are too many form changes... the list goes on.
I ask, however, what made us fall in love with the series in the first place? What compelled us to pick up that copy of Black/White, even after posting that ever-so-insightful forum post, "lol gamefreak r runing out ov ideas cuz all they do is maek ice creams and garbige bags nowdays lol muk woz so much beter"?
Hence, I decided channel my imagination and create this oh-so-original thread which asks: "What are your favourite Pokemon designs?" Describe the sheer glee you felt when you saw Muk for the first time in the Pokerap, your love of capitalism and Meowth, or just how you think Lucario is badass. Let's generate some optimism, and share why you enjoy this franchise.
For me, some of my favourite designs would have to include:

I really love Ho-oh's design. This is probably down to bias, since Ho-oh was the mascot of my first Pokemon game, but I still love how it's so majestic and brilliant. I suppose I also like Ho-oh purely for the fact that it's legendary without needing to rely on some Godly powers as an excuse. All the same, a great design.
2. [img139]http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/637.gif[/img139]
Volcarona was a fantastic addition to the franchise. I read that the black spots on its wings are meant to represent sunspots and the antennae are supposed to look like the headpiece of Hathor. I suppose I also like Volcarona for the fact that it's probably one of the few Bug-type designs I enjoy, and it doesn't look as bland or pathetic as Pokemon as such as Wormadam.
3. [img139]http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/530.gif[/img139]
I'll have to include another Gen V Pokemon, Excadrill. It's a badass design which I never really truly understood until I saw it seamlessly arrange itself into a drill in the anime. This design comes nothing short of ingenious, in my opinion.
Fire away, GPD.
