Toughest PMD Dungeons?

  1. In your opinion, what were the toughest dungeons? For me it was the Zero Isles. I hated them.

    From the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, I felt that Joyous Tower was a hassle to traverse since it was hard to climb with its 99 floors.

    Zero Isles because of the level reduction and item loss. I also dislike all dungeons with Grimer tiles that ruin my food supply.

    I vaguely recall a few dungeons where we had to surrender our inventory and begin at Level 1, which was definitely irksome.

    I'd have to go with the Zero Isle dungeons as well. I attempted to get through them many, many times, but was never able to make it through a single one. Think the best I did was make it to the halfway point of one of them (?). I can't remember exactly since it's been a long time since I've tried any of the Zero Isles, but I definitely remember struggling with them.

    Admittedly, I usually failed in those dungeons somewhere around the dozenth floor. I just couldn't keep up with the enemies found in those dungeons.

    Discounting the Zero Isle dungeons, any dungeon with Drifloon/Drifbilm. Unburden and Ominous Wind spam is just nasty. Dungeons with Ghost-type Pokemon that can pass through walls are also not fun particularly if you hero/partner lacks moves to hit them while in the walls if you are restricted to using them storyline wise.

    Yeah, I find dungeons with Ghost-types to be a major hassle, especially ones with Nukenin (Shedinja). The fact that Ghost-types can move through walls is a bit unfair.

    Definitely Sky Tower or whatever Rayquaza's dungeon in PMD Red and Blue was called 'cause of the Duskulls and Shuppets in the walls.

    In hindsight now that I'm replaying Explorers of Time, the Temporal Spire section of Temporal Tower was a nightmare all because of Porygon-Z using Discharge there like crazy.

    Not to mention Primal Dialga was a monster of a challenge to take down. The Time/Darkness games were hard. :(

    I found the PSMD super difficult dungeons pretty difficult... especially the ones with the legendary dogs

    Anything with Ghosts and pitfall traps, especially in the first games where fainting in a dungeon lost you everything

    PSMD was especially hard since you're always underleveled and everything can one or two-shot you while your attacks miss 90% of the time and barely tickle the opponent

    Whomever introduced the whole level-up mechanic for moves was a sadist who hates fun

    story: pretty much every late game dungeon in PSMD, the postgame story dungeons were also brutal (though you could kinda cheese them a bit if you smuggled in hoopa)
    general: zero isle center or destiny tower (sky)

    The entire Zero Isles. Man, who decided that those dungeons were a good idea?! It's like traversing through Hell.

  16. I just remembered how Amp Plains had the first traps in the Explorers of Time and Darkness games and how that affected my first visit to the dungeon. It was awful and I hated how some Pokemon in there knew Discharge as well.

    I didn't even remember that traps were first introduced in that dungeon in the Time/Darkness/Sky games, but I do recall getting paralyzed in that dungeon a lot and not having enough items to cure that status condition, which was a real pain in the neck.

    The Concealed Ruins from Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness because of the Shuppets moving through walls and striking where I couldn't reach them.

    O tell me about it. I had to get someone else to beat Primal Dialga for me and I barely even got through Temporal Tower as it was. It's such a hard dungeon because of Porygon 2 and even the Metagross were tough.
