Tracey’s Odd Disappearance?

When a trainer's pokemon is more developed than that trainer, then you an only imagine just how underdeveloped that guy really is. The only good thing about him is that he has a scyther whose both evolutionary forms are one of my favorite in kanto and scizor in johto.

It's a shame that Kenji wasn't in the recent Kanto-based episodes, otherwise we might've seen his Strike be a Hassam by now, which could've led to us seeing Kenji use Mega Hassam in battle.

Why didn't the non-Gen 1 character appear in the Gen 1 throwback episode? So mysterious~ D:

Seriously, it's not rocket science, folks. He was from that weird middle period that hardly anyone liked or watched all the way through.

Plus, the whole point was to bring back the two most beloved characters that hadn't been seen or mentioned in ages and Tracey doesn't fit the "beloved" part in any part of the world. The majority either is neutral to him, doesn't care for/about him, or outright hates him. Then you have his tiny 5% fanbase out of the group.

Of course he didn't show up. There was no need for him before and there's no need for him now. Not yet, anyway.

That and we already had Ash, Misty, Brock, Delia, both Oaks, the Alola crew, Team Rocket AND Jigglypuff. Crowded cast is crowded as is. They probably couldn't fit him in. lol

In spite of all the Kanto nostalgia in those two episodes, we still saw several non-Kanto Pokemon. So seeing one non-Kanto human character like Kenji didn't seem like too much to ask for.

Has anyone pointed out this was a Kanto tribute and Tracey wasn't from the Kanto era?

That was DA.... Orange Islands had great episodes and fillers.
And Tracey had more right than anybody to show up there, he lives in Pallet Town. It'd be like Ash visiting Petalburgh City and... Max isn't there but May, Norman, and May's mom are there but no Max... though Max not appearing wouldn't be as bad, time never progresses so he'd still not be a trainer or have anything interesting to show.

Tracey could have showcased Mega Scizor!

Someone already brought up that point, although it's not as if those two episodes were only Kanto-centric given that we saw plenty of non-Kanto Pokemon including two Mega Evolutions, which didn't even exist in Kanto originally. So based on those things, it's hard to imagine that Kenji was only left out of those episodes to appease Kanto purists.
