Trading Eggs

Doglover821

I can't trade my egg from my Sapphire version over to my Emerald version. It contains a Volbeat because Volbeat are very rare in Emerald so I wanted one. I normally trade eggs so that the pokemon has my ID number and gets more out of leveling up. (Traded pokemon level up fast but don't get as many stats as they should) I bred my Volbeat egg with a Ditto (no other way to do so). So why won't it let me trade it? It's not a pokemon that only goes to the National Dex, which I don't have...

you can't trade eggs to emerald/FR/LG until you get the national dex in that game.

don't worry, though. you can hatch a volbeat and trade it over. the rumor that a traded pokemon doesn't get the same stats is false. if you always have the right badges for it to obey you, then traded pokemon > your pokemon.

actually, i always hatch my tournament-competitive pokemon in another game, because the boosted EXP gain and easier breeding is really useful sometimes.

it doesn't matter which game the egg is coming from...... he's tradin TO an emerald and you have to have the national dex before you can trade eggs to it. And you can get the same stats on a traded pokemon as a non-traded one.... the traded ones just level up faster so it's harder to see the ev gains sometimes.

Oh, it said that you should beware when using traded pokemon as they don't benefit much in my guide book...the book lies...lol. Thanks though. I shall trade over a Volbeat to get the pokedex registration for it, and then I shall probably trade it back. They arn't that good, and they are hard to train. (Illumise is MUCH easier...around 300 exp points to level 14 from level 13, and a Volbeat...around 800 exp points to level 14 from level 13. But Illumise is weaker...x.x)

Thanks again everyone! *huggles all*

on the other hand, volbeat needs only 600,000 EXP to get to level 100, but illumise needs 1,640,000.

definitely go with volbeat. signal beam pwns.

I guess you have to wait till you get to Manuville (SP?). If you dont feel like searching the grass trader over the guy from your other game and use him for breeding, THEN you may also be able to get an egg move.

I don't have the National Dex yet so I can't breed...funny, though. Volbeat always seemed /HARDER/ to train...(to me...) But yep, Volbeat pwns Illumise! lol

Stupid Volbeats...always male...can't just ONE be female...?

I know, I checked the pokedex on the site...it stinks. But luckily I have a Ditto on my Sapphire version from my Leafgreen. But since I can't trade eggs...I can't get a baby Volbeat. I really want a little baby Volbeat! (that has my IDNo)

1) Pokémon which require the least exp (600,000) to reach lv100 start off requiring more to level up, but as they get to the higher levels they require less exp than Pokémon of other growth rates.
2) If you get an Illumise on your Emerald, you can get a baby Volbeat. All you have to do is breed Illumise and a compatible Pokémon and the resulting egg will have a 50% chance of being either Volbeat or Illumise.

But Volbeat is ALWAYS male...you can't get a Volbeat egg! *ish confused*

But how is that possible? I never even heard of that...if I knew that sooner I would've done that...x.x

Well now you know:)
I gave you a full explanation in my reply to your PM, but I'll add something which IS weird.
As I said earlier, an Illumise's egg can contain Volbeat or Illumise.
Similarly, A Nidoran♀'s egg can contain Nidoran♂ or Nidoran♀.
However if Nidoran♂(or it's evolutions) are bred with Ditto, only Nidoran♂ will hatch from the resulting eggs.
The same can be applied to Volbeat + Ditto. Eggs produced will only contain Volbeat.

Oh, I knew the Ditto thing, just not the Illumise thing and Nidoran thing...thanks! I PMed you back asking if you are /really/ sure, because I can't Fly yet in my Emerald version and I'd have to walk a looooong way...x.x
