Trading Pokemon with Illegitimate Copies of D/P... Safe?

It's been said by several members that I've seen that they don't own a legal copy of Diamond or Pearl. And it makes me wonder, if you trade with someone like that online, will it mess up your game? I happen to know someone who downloads games onto his DS like that, and although I've battled against his Pokemon on wifi, I won't trade with him. His game gets all buggy and glitchy sometimes now too, and I wonder if it's because of that.

And not just the ROMs either... there are also things like forged copies you can buy on eBay and whatnot. Does anyone know if playing or trading with someone with that is safe? I don't trade as much as I used to, but I have a lot of data on my game now that I DO NOT want to lose, and I'd hate to think I'm risking it everytime I go on wifi. :(

What you're asking depends on the 'legalness' of the game. If the game is hacked, then yes it is dangerous to trade with that said person because you are getting hacked pokemon from him. Hacked pokemon can sometimes cause a glitch within your game and then your game becomes totally screwed up. Something such as a ROM wouldn't be dangerous to trade/battle with, but as in ROMs are illegal you shouldn't do that anyway.

The best bet would be for you to stick with people who have a legal, legitimate copy of Diamond or Pearl.

it is dangorus ya sorry for my misspellings. But thats why we have friend codes, so you can give it to ppl you know. Dont mean to be off topic, but on animal crossing for ds, you could plant stuff in ppls towns and screws up their games. I dont know if you can do that with d/p or anyother pokemon game

If it could screw up your game I doubt it would be of good enough quality to trade anyway.

If it can trade, then it's "fake" quality would probably be no worse than the real thing.

HOW EASY IT IS TO GET CHANSEY IN THIS GAME!!!! In every other game with Chansey in it, it is SO hard to get her, but in this one, no. You can get the Happiny egg in Hearthome city and you're all set, or why don't you just go for a lovely stroll down Route 210 or 209 and catch 700 Chansey if your heart desires? I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just annoying that they make it such a challenge on every other game, but on D/P it's a snap.

Well i suppose you could argue that a different region/country has different rarities of pokemon. Therefore, Sinnoh region has a larger population of Happiny's/Chansey's than Kanto or Hoenn ;)

As Conquistador said, if they CAN trade, then it is possibly okay. But I wouldn't want to lose my game data, so I wouldn't reccomend it, especially if you know if they use an AR or anything like that. And I would also be on the 'against' team for a debate over the relevance of Chansey in this thread.

Either way people who use ROMS w/ emulators cant trade or use WiFi so wats the big deal?

YES the ROMS do tend to mess up w/ the heavier duty graphics (I.E Dialga ressurection) and they have a bug which strictly limits the number of pokemon in the boxes, either way these arent serious problems.....and still the trade and wifi function dont work! so stop worrying

Yes they do. :/ I traded with this guy onto my Japanese game last year. I don't want to do it on my American game though, lol.

I'd say the name of the software/hardware he's using, were it not for two things - one, it's against the rules here, and two, I couldn't remember the name if I tried. xD

These questions may have been asked before and I wasn't able to find anything using search... Maybe I used wrong keywords but I wanted to ask. Can you identify between cloned pokemon and not cloned pokemon? Can you distingush between hacked pokemon and legit ones? and all those other questions. What is the best method of trading safe? Getting friend codes in forums, or GTS? It would be nice if people could answer this for me or redirect me to a link where this has been answered.

I meant people who use the emulators cant trade or use wifi... XD
those who just download the ROMS into their DS im not so sure about....
