My brother and I were trying to trade Pokémon last night (he just started Emerald, and I wanted to trade him the other two starter). However, when we went to trade, it said "Trader too far away", or something to that effect. Later finding out it meant it was because I was in Kanto, and he was in Hoenn, I got quite confused - I had already traded with my Sapphire.

Does he need to do anything extra on his Emerald (like do a machine or whatever)? One reason I could think of is - He traded with his friend when the game first came out over here (so October-ish), but I just found out that his friend's cartridge was grey (aka. fake). Would this have effected his cartridge, possibly effecting the wireless, or wired, link up between ours?

It is very likely that the fake game could have caused problems... so it would be best for him to completely reset his game. Are both of ur games emerald? if so then the trade should work as long as ur tradin hoenn pokemon but if ur trading kanto or johto pokemon u'll prolly have to have him complete the elite 4 and have him get the national dex before the trade can work.

Ohh, that's a point. I'm on Leaf Green, and I'm trying to trade him Bulbasaur and Squirtle. I completely forgot about the National Dex (I obviously have it), as it's been a long time since I played (and completed) Green.

Just to clerify, you have to beat the Elite 4 on Emerald to access the National Dex, right?

To trade betwixt Leaf Green and Emerald, complete the following:

-Defeat the Elite Four on Emerald and get the National Dex.
-Defeat the Elite Four on Leaf Green, get the National Dex, and locate the Ruby and Sapphire plates (which gleaning from your post you have already done).

That's it, I believe.

Thanks. To trade Hoenn Pokémon between Leaf Green and Emerald, I just need the Pokédex on LG, and the two plates, right?

Yes, get the National Dex in Emerald and also, you must get the Ruby&Sapphire gems from Leaf Green/Fire Red and fix the Network machine in order to trade.

Sorry for butting in here, but I have a question too and figured it would be bettter to comment in here than to make a new thread since the questions are somewhat simular.

Anyways, I read it was possible to trade between a FR/LG and a Ru/Sa game. I HAVE beat both games, (yes, including getting the national dex on LG and setting up the new machine thingy.) but whenever I try to trade, it doesn't work. You know how you have to have a "leader" in trades on LG? Since they don't have that on Sapphire, it wouldn't work for me. So, I was wondering, am I missing something or can you just NOT trade between those games?

well, how far are you in you S/R game/s?

you can trade between those four games.

the games you can trade between are ruby, sapphire,FR,LG,emerald

all of those work with each other.

but in R/S you need the natianal dex.

I said I beat all my pokemon games. Sapphire and LG, the two I've been trying to trade through.

But like I said, they have that "leader" thing when trying to connect on FR/LG which isn't on Sapphire, therefor I couldn't trade. Is there a way to get around that? T_T

Thank you for the help guys.

oh, I know what it is

silly me

are you using the wireless thing for your LG and sappire?

if so

you can't use the wireless thing on R/S but on LG/FR/E you can.

I will make a list about each game and how to trade with it:

Ru/Sa:you dont have to beat the leauge to trade with Lg/Fr/E but you must have the ruby and sapphire plates on Lg/Fr to trade with Ru/Sa.

Fr/Lg:you must have the ruby and sapphire plates and the national pokedex to trade with Ru/Sa and to trade with emerald make sure that you have beat the league in emerald then you can trade.

E:you can normally trade with Ru/Sa but if you still did not beat the league then make sure it is a hoenn pokemon. But if you beat the league then you can trade any pokemon .If you want to trade with Fr/Lg you must beat the league in emerald and get the ruby and sapphire plates and the national pokedex in Fr/Lg.

I know that the sentences look repeated but I want to make it clear so nobody would ask again.
